On a business trip from the spooky (though not really) town of Hollow Shades, book seller and artisan book mender Lucid Thought had only meant to bring a restored picture-book of Canterlot Fashion to Rarity and a letter to Granny Smith from the Appleshade Orchard family. However, Rarity has another job that she convinces him to do that will make him miss the train back to Hollow Shades; against his better initial judgement, he accepts the job and bumps into the rest of the Mane Six plus Spike during his stay. But this will give him a chance to go see a travelling troupe performing a few stories out of the Daring Do collection of novels. However, events soon conspire to keep him in Ponyville for even another week due to the train for Hollow Shades only arriving every fourth day.
