The other girls giggled before John continued. “I also understand that this is some weird test thing that Princess Celestia’s given you for some...reason.”
Twilight nodded, now smiling nervously. “That’s what she told me, yes.”
The human clapped his hands together--accidentally startling Fluttershy--and smiled. “Alright! So she told you that you had to deal with this crazy powerful slaver-queen lady that used to rule this Empire, right?”
Rainbow puffed her chest out in pride, her wings flaring. “We’re not just gonna deal with her, Johnny, We’re gonna kick her flank right back into that glacier prison of hers!”
John ignored the six mares quietly cheering. “Okay, I get all of that, I really do,” he looked desperately at Twilight and Spike. “But why and the heck did you guys make me go?!”

Pinkie jammed a hoof into his mouth as she squealed. “Look! we’re at the trainstation! Do you see it, Johnny? Do ya, do ya?”

“Come on, girls!” Twilight said as snow and wind whipped around them.
Spike crossed his stubby little arms in frustration, the drake seemingly unphased by the cold. “Girls, Spike, and John,” he corrected, accepting a fistbump from his fellow man while Twilight rolled her eyes in irritation.
“Come on, girls... and guys!” the unicorn said as the group trotted out of the station and into the frozen tundra. “Shining said that he would be--”

The group peered into the blizzard to see a lone figure slowly making their way toward them, the girls taking up defensive positions as Spike and John bravely hid behind them.
Twilight narrowed her eyes at the figure, her horn glowing with a spell. “Get ready girls,” she screamed over the wind. “This might be some trick!”
The tension was so thick that you could cut it, until the pony came into view. To everyone's relief it was Shining Armor, decked out in his best Star Wars goggle and scarf outfit, the stallion unwrapping the scarf from his face while a slightly giddy Twilight ran toward her brother, giving him a friendly nuzzle.
“Shining!” We’re so happy it--”
Shining looked from his sister to the group before he saw something that made him bite back a pang of fear; a giant black cloud. He quickly pushed his sister out of the way as his horn glowed with power.
“It’s Umbra!” The stallion roared. “Run to the barrier, I’ll hold her off!”
Rainbow tried to fly up into the air. “No way, he can take--” she squeaked indignantly when Applejack grabbed her tail and yanked her down.
“None of that now, Dash!”
The six mares sprinted toward the safety of the barrier until Twilight stopped in her tracks, her eyes widening in panic as she looked around. “Wait! Where’s Spike? Where’s John?!”
They looked back to see the human and dragon staring at the mass of darkness like deer in headlights.
“Wow,” Spike muttered when the two saw the outline of a pony in it. “Look at that thing…”
“SPIKE!” Twilight roared in fear as Umbra bared down on them. “RUN!”
The yelling finally broke John out of his terror-stupor, the human looking at the evil cloud, then to Shining, and then to the girls, before he sighed in despair. Shit, me and Spike aren’t going to be able to outrun this thing, he thought calmly while Spike looked up at him with fear on his little dragon face.
Shining shot a spell at the cloud, trying to get to the two in time. “GET AWAY FROM HER FOR CELESTIA’S SAKE!”
With a groan, John picked up Spike by the scruff of his neck as the cloud came within spitting distance of the two. “If I die, tell them I want a statue; a nice one!” he told the dragon before he tossed him as hard as he could at Shining, the stallion catching him with an ‘oomph!’.
The last thing he heard before the darkness hit him was a thick, rich laugh. “Oh, and what do we have here?...”

The rattling of chains greeted John as he woke with a groan, his head pounding in pain. “Oh shit, did anyone see the cart that hit me?” he whimpered as he opened an eye to see blue and white, which forced him to close his eyes in pain.

The evil enchantress leaned so close to the human that he could smell her surprisingly fresh breath, the mare giving him a big evil, toothy smile before she said, “What do we have here? Some new creature, maybe a familiar for that little unicorn that dared enter my kingdom without permission?”
John tried to quietly test the strength of his chains, ignoring her while the mare raised an eyebrow, her horn glowing for a second with power. The human gasped as a hot, searing pain suddenly crashed over his body.
“It appears that you do don’t know how to behave in front of your betters,” Her horn glowed a little blacker, sending more magic through the gently shaking human. “Now, I will ask you again, what manner of creature are you?”
“Urk, John, J-John the human,” John weezed before the mare stopped the spell.
She ignored his groan of relief, starting to inspect him closely. “Human, human…” She forced him to look at her with a hoof. “I’ve never heard of your kind.”
John panted, smiling thinly. “O-only, one.”

Now her eyes lit up with dark magic, Umbra looking at the human with a small smile. “Now, let’s really see what’s in that little head of yours.”
John flinched when he felt something wiggle around his head, the human closing his eyes hard as he tried to block the Queen from messing around his noggin.
