//-------------------------------------------------------// Legend of the Magic Dragons -by Phantom-Dragon- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Prologue //-------------------------------------------------------// Prologue Skylands In a world, filled with powerful magics, where adventure awaits around every corner. A battle between good and evil rages on. Spyro, a purple dragon of great magic, was leading his team, the Skylanders, in their battle against their arch nemesis, the evil dark portal master, Kaos. "You will never defeat me, Skylanders!" Kaos gloated from his airship. "NEVER! For I, KAOS, am UNSTOPPABLE, and you will all be meeting your doom. You hear me?! DOOM!! Ha ha ha!" "As if," Spyro replied. "MINIONS!!" Kaos screamed. "ATTACK!!" With that, a huge army of trolls charged after the dragon, with their swords, hammers, and maces raised. But the purple dragon was undeterred by their numbers, as he got into his battle stance, lowered his head, and charged with his horns sticking out and engulfed in a fiery aura, knocking all of the trolls aside, before he screeched to a stop, and with a flap of his wings, he leaped into the air to do a forward somersault, and came crashing down, headfirst, flattened a troll like a pancake. More of the trolls surrounded the dragon, only to be knocked backwards after Spyro performed a Tail Swipe. Burnt and knocked into a daze, the trolls' attempts to capture the dragon were all in vain, as each and every one of them collapsed. "ARGH!" Kaos growled in frustration, before he turned to a goliath drow. "YOU! Get in there and fight! GET ME THAT DRAGON!!" With that, the goliath drow jumped off from the airship as it slams its fist into the ground, making its presence known to Spyro. "Bring it!" Spyro growled. The goliath drow responded with a loud roar, before its shield charges up, encasing it in a protective aura, and it charges after Spyro at a incredible speed that rivals to a bull's. But Spyro's an experienced fighter. He wasn't so easily intimidated as he stood his ground and looked hard at his enemy. Then, at the last moment, Spyro jumped out of the way, and the drow ran past him, falling off a cliff, screaming and disappearing into the vast sea of clouds. "Ingrate!" Kaos shouted, clasping his face in a facepalm. Then, a chompy jumped out and tried to bite the dragon, only for it to be washed away by an unexpected stream of water. Spyro turned to a gillman and said, "Thanks Gill!" "Just watching your back, Spyro!" Gill Grunt smiled, giving the dragon a thumbs up. The two quickly regrouped with the other Skylanders as they resume their fight with Kaos. "Get them you fools!" Kaos yelled to some monsters. "Crush them! Destroy them! Eliminate them! Do anything to get rid of those meddling Skylosers!" Several dragonets were flying out, firing fireballs at Spyro and the Skylanders, only for them to be held back by the purple dragon's trusty sidekick and adopted brother, Sparx the dragonfly. "Thanks Sparx," Spyro called out. "No prob brother," Sparx replied, before he turned to see a gargantula, staring hungrily at the dragonfly. Letting out a high-pitched scream, sounding like a little girl, Sparx flapped his wings like he never flapped before, fleeing for his life from the giant spider, which is surprisingly fast as it gave chase to the dragonfly. "Spyro!" Sparx screamed. "HELP ME BROTHER!!" Spyro was fighting off a cylcop when he heard his brother's cry and turned his head to see the situation the little dragonfly was in. "Hang on Sparx!" He yelled as he flew after the spider. "I'm coming!" Ponyville, Friendship Castle Spike was in the kitchen, making a jewel cake, this time, resisting his urge to eat any of the jewels he was going to use in his cake batter. "Spike is great," he sang as he put some gems in. "Making a jewel cake. Been saving up my gems so fine....for a cake this...huh?" Spike looked at the cake batter to see that there were only a half amount of gems needed for his cake. "Oh well," he shrugged as he got down from his stool, and putting his unfinished batter away in the refrigerator. "Better go get some more." After walking to his room, Spike opened up his closet and pulled out a red wagon before making his way towards the castle's front doors. Skylands Spyro had just saved Sparx, from the ravenous spider that had pursued him earlier. "Thanks Spyro!" Sparx said. "Thought I was goner that time." "Hey, what're brothers for?" Spyro replied, before a fireball came at him and nearly singed the top of his crest. The two brothers looked to see a Fire Geargolem, approaching with its arms shooting a hot stream of fire. Spyro quickly countered the attack with his own fire power, before Gill Grunt, Zap, Swash Buckler, and the rest of the Water Skylanders came to his aid and defeated the Fire Geargolem, putting out its fire. Then, more of Kaos's minions, consisting of drows and trolls, were beamed down from Kaos's ship and they all charged at the Skylanders. Numerous tanks, driven by trolls, were firing missiles at the Skylanders. That is until Zook, a Bambazooker, pulled the trigger on his bazooka and fired a bazooka shell into one of the tank's gun, clogging it and resulted in a backfire, which sends the trolls flying out in random directions. One of the trolls landed on a cactus, causing it to yelp in pain before it ran away. Another troll landed near Whirlwind, an alicorn-dragon hybrid, who didn't hesitate blasting the troll with her rainbow of doom. Meanwhile, the rest of the tanks were being destroyed by the other Skylanders. One of them was Trigger Happy, a gremlin gunslinger and Spyro's best friend besides Gill and Sparx. "No gold! No glory!" Trigger Happy remarked, as he jumps up and shot several rounds of gold coins at the trolls. Joining in the gremlin's assault with the trolls is Terrafin, a dirt shark, who burrowed his way underground before he jumped out and belly flopped on one of the trolls. "YEAH!!" Terrafin roared, before turning to a nearby tank and picked it up, as if it was nothing but feathers, before he chucked it at another tank. "Rock n' Roll!" a loud voice roared, as boulder rolled its way into the battle, crushing several trolls along the way, before it uncurls to reveal itself to be a spiky land dragon named Bash. A troll came running up to Bash with a spike club, but was knocked up into the air after Bash summoned a stone pillar beneath him. Then, Bash saw several more trolls on motorcycles riding towards up. Without hesitation, Bash summoned several more stone pillars and with a spin of his spike-club tail, he sent several chunks of rocks flying at the trolls, knocking them off their bikes. Ignitor, a fire knight, was fighting off more of the trolls, when a group of drow spearmen surrounded him with their spears lowered. The spearmen charged in, jabbing their spears at the knight, only to find an empty suit of armor. "Slash!" Ignitor called while in his fire spirit form. "And burn!" With that, Ignitor flew in to attack all of the drows, slashing them with his fiery hands, burning them before he returned into his armor. Then, an army of armored lance masters were summoned into the battlefield. The armored drows charged at the Skylanders with their spears. One of the armored drows slashed his spear at a phoenix-dragon hybrid named, Sunburn, but the cunning hybrid disappeared in a flash of fire, before reappearing behind the drow and breath fire on the drow's exposed butt, causing him to run with his pants literally on fire. Several more surrounded a winged sphinx named, Scrathc, who instantly performed her Whirlwing move, conjured some winds, pulling the drows in, before she scratches them with her long sharp claws, destroying their armors as she finishes them off. With the Skylanders dealing with all the drows and trolls, Spyro flew up to the airship to confront the evil portal master. Gill Grunt and Trigger Happy looked at their dragon friend, before turning their head, realizing where he's going. "C'mon Trigg!" Gill Grunt exclaimed. "We gotta help Spyro!" Tigger Happy nodded in agreement as the two got into a sky vehicle called, the Sky Slicer, driven by it's pilot, Stormblade. Meanwhile, with Spyro, the young dragon made onboard the flying ship, where he confronted a jawbreaker(a monster, not a candy) named, Brute. "You wanna mess with Kaos?" Brute growled, before he rushes at the dragon. "You gotta go through me first!" With that, the jawbreaker threw a punch at the dragon, but Spyro merely sidestepped out of range, before he whips his tail at the jawbreaker's legs, tripping him, causing him to fall flat on his face. Without hesitation, Spyro opened his mouth and bit Brute's butt, causing the jawbreaker to jump as he yelp in pain, falling the ship's storage room and into a pile of fish. "Yuck!" Spyro spitted. "Note to self: Don't ever bite your enemies on the butt again!" After that, Spyro continues making his way to the control room, where he confronted the Dark Portal Master, with his butler, Glumshanks, by the wheel. "It's over, Kaos!" Spyro said. "You've lost." "Hahaha!" Kaos cackled. "Did you really think it would be that easy, Skyloser? Cause now, you'll have to fight ME! And spoiler alert.....I'M MORE POWERFUL and totally more awesome THAN BEFORE!! Hahaha!" With that, Kaos waved his heads around and conjured up the symbol of fire; summoned several fireballs, all flying towards Spyro, only for the dragon to dodge, before he fired some shots of his own at the dark portal master. Kaos quickly conjured the symbol of water and a strong jet stream of water came bursting out, putting out Spyro's fire balls and washing the dragon away and out onboard the vessel. "Now I think it's time to feed my Doom Sharks!" With that, Kaos conjured up a whole school of his doom sharks, all chomping their mouths relentlessly after the dragon, who quickly jumps onto a mast and climbs up its net, avoiding the jaws the sharks, before they disappeared. "Fool!" Kaos shouted. "You can't escape ME!" Kaos then spins around, before he turned himself into a giant floating head, which gave out a sinister cackle as it fires lasers from its eyes at the dragon and causing the mast to be caught on fire. Spyro flapped his wings as he took flight and spat several fireballs at Kaos, who kept on firing more laser beams at him. After he returned to normal, Kaos quickly conjured the symbol of Air, and a strong gust of wind blew the dragon away. Spyro flapped his wings like he's never flapped before, struggling to fight his way through the windy current. Kaos cackled, as he watches the purple dragon, fighting his way through the winds in vain. But that moment was short lived, when Sparx quickly arrived and flew at the dark portal master's face and made a face. "Get away from me!" Kaos shouted, as he flails his hands around, effortlessly shooing the dragonfly away. Shortly, the wind stopped, and Spyro, seeing Kaos distracted, looked around and sees an opening on the vessel which leads straight the main engine of the ship Kaos, while still swatting at Sparx, quickly notices Spyro heading for the ship's main engine. He then shouted to some greebles on board, "Don't just stand there you fools! Stop that dragon!" With that, the greebles all ran after the dragon. But just before any of them could get any further, a harpoon was shot and landed before the monsters, stopping them in their tracks. "Not so fast!" called a voice, which the greebles all turned their heads to see Gill Grunt and Trigger Happy, boarding the ship from the Sky Slicer. "You gotta go through us first!" "Yeah!" Trigger Happy shouted, as he fired a barrel of gold coins at the greebles, causing them to scatter and hide behind some barrels. "Time for you to fear the fish!" Gill Grunt fired several more harpoons, which impaled most of the greebles as they disappeared in a puff of smoke.  Suddenly, a greeble jumped out from behind a crate, carrying a blunderbuss, which it used to fire some explosive fireballs at the gillman. Thankfully, for Gill Grunt, Trigger Happy was quick to fire a gold coin into the blunderbuss, causing it to backfire and explode in the greeble's face. Kaos meanwhile continues his struggle to swat Sparx the dragonfly, when Glumshank came running out with a small butterfly net. "Don't worry Lord Kaos!" Glumshank exclaimed as he swung the net in an attempt to catch the dragonfly. "I got him!" Glumshanks swung the net down, only to miss the dragonfly and caught Kaos on the head instead. "Oops." "Get it off me!" Kaos muffled. After making it to the engine room and defeating a couple more drows guarding the room, Spyro whipped his tail at a pipe, releasing gas, before he took a deep breath and let out a huge stream of fire, igniting the gas. Kaos finally got the net off of his head. "Glumshanks you fool!" Kaos yelled angrily, while grabbing the troll by the collar, but stopped suddenly when they noticed the sudden tremor below the ship. Spyro came flying out as he screamed, "This thing is about to blow! Abandon ship everyone! Abandon ship!" With that, everyone onboard all ran in separate directions as they escaped the ship. Most of the greebles, trolls, and drows all got into some escape pods. Gill Grunt and Trigger Happy both jumped off deck, as Gill activated his jet pack and flies away with Trigger Happy, before they were joined by Spyro, flying beside them. Lastly, Kaos quickly escaped into an escape pod, along with Glumshanks. "Hey!" Brute shouted as he got out of the fish pile. "Wait for me!" He quickly jumped into the escape vehicle. "Curse you Skylanders!" Kaos screamed. "Quick Glumshanks! Get us out of here!" "Right away master!" Glumshanks quickly pressed the pedal to the medal as the escape vehicle the three were in started up, and they flew away, just as the airship came apart. "This is not over yet, Skylanders!" Kaos called. "I will be back, and Skylands, will be MIIIIIIIINE!!" Then suddenly, the vehicle started to sputter as it rocked up and down intensely. "Glumshanks! Can't you fly properly?" "I am sir," Glumshanks replied. "But the controls aren't responding!" Suddenly, out of the vent, Sparx came out with a gear in his mouth. "Why you little-" Kaos growled, only to stop when he, Glumshanks, and Brute all felt another jitter from the aircraft. Before they knew it, their vehicle exploded, and they were all sent flying off into the distance, disappearing in a twinkle. "Have a nice vacation, Kaos!" Spyro shouted, after he, Gill Grunt and Trigger Happy all landed and regrouped with the other Skylanders. Then, Sparx came hovering back to his side. "Good work Sparx." Spyro said. "It'll be a long time before Kaos tries to take over Skylands from us again," Gill Grunt said, as the Skylanders all celebrated their victory. "And it's all thanks to you, Spyro," Trigger Happy, cheered. "Three cheers for Spyro!" Gill Grunt shouted, while holding the dragon's claw up, with the Skylanders all cheering for Spyro, "Hip hip hooray! Hip hip hooray! Hip hip hooray!" This made Sparx feeling left out, until, "Thanks you guys," Spyro replied. "But honestly, I think we all did great defeating Kaos. That also goes to my little brother right here." Spyro gestured to Sparx, who looked at him in bewilderment. "If not for him, I would never have been fired up to blow up Kaos's ship. So let's give him a cheer as well." And with that, the Skylanders all cheered for Sparx, causing the young dragonfly to beam with pride. But the moment was short lived, when a metal claw came out from a bush and nabbed Sparx. "What the-HELP!" Sparx cried, as he was dragged into the bush. "SPARX!" Spyro cried, as he dived into the bush to save the dragonfly, only to confront a strange humanoid figure. The figure was clad from head to toe in a suit of armor that appears to be Arkeyan, but with a huge jetpack, several smaller buttons aligned on the chestplate, all surrounding a round glowing panel, and a strange symbol that almost represents the letter M was imprinted on the helmet. And there, in the figure's hand, was a small jar containg Sparx. "SPYRO! HELP!" Sparx called from inside the jar. "Let him go!" Spyro roared, as the fire in his mouth was being ignited. "NOW!" he growled. The kidnapper didn't comply as he pressed a button on his chestplate, sprouted wings, activating his jetpack and flew off, with the captured dragonfly, and an angry purple dragon on his tail. "Spyro! Wait up!" Gill Grunt shouted as he activated his jetpack and pursued after Spyro, followed by several other Skylanders who can fly. Ponyville Spike was pulling his red wagon through the streets of Ponyville, making his way towards the area to do some gem hunting. But on his way, he couldn't help but look to see many of the pony civilians all having the time of their life, together with their friends and family. He sees Applejack and Apple Bloom nuzzling close, after the latter attracted some costumers to her sister's stand. Next, he sees both Rainbow Dash and Scootaloo chugging down some sodas, before they both let out a loud burp, trying to see who can burp the loudest and the longest. In the end, the two pegasi both laughed hysterically, while other ponies looked at them weirdly. Lastly, he sees Pinkie Pie hopping happily with Maud Pie, who is slowly walking beside her. His frill perks up as he listens in on what Pinkie was saying, "So a donkey walks into Sugarcube Corner," Pinkie Pie began. "And I asked him, 'why the long face?'" With that, Pinkie Pie broke into a fit of laughter, while Maud Pie, in her usual monotone voice, simply replies, "Ha ha. That's funniest joke I've heard all day." The two sisters continued walking away, as Spike kept on moving. Everywhere he looked, he could see everypony all having a good time, with their friends and families. 'Gosh, everyone are all having a great time,' he thought . 'Wish I can enjoy these moments together with girls. Or better yet, I wish I had more friends to have a good time with.' With his wish in mind, Spike walked off to Rambling Rocky Ridge, not knowing that it's at the start of an adventure for him. Spyro fired several more explosive fireballs at the kidnapper, who had dodged all of them, until one managed to singe at one of his wings. Seeing this, Spyro quickly closes in on the kidnapper, before he latched himself onto the kidnapper, while struggling to rescue Sparx. "Get off of me!" the kidnapper growled, as he struggled to get the dragon off. "Not until you let my friend go first!" Spyro replied as he breathed fire on the kidnapper, only for the kidnapper to quickly shield his face from the dragon's breath with his arm, which magically projected a shield, saving the kidnapper from the dragon's fire breath. The kidnapper then bashed Spyro with his shield, knocking the dragon off, before he pressed a button on his chestplate and several colorful swirls began to appear as they circled around the figure. "NO!" Spyro shouted angrily as he flapped his wings faster than ever before, grabbing a hold of the kidnapper, catching him by surprise, before they disappeared in a flash of light, just as the other Skylanders arrived. Equestria In a burst of light, the three reappeared in the skies above Equestria. Spyro, whose only focus was on rescuing his brother, continues his struggle, biting and clawing at the kidnapper just to save Sparx. The kidnapper didn't hesitate to fight back as he held the dragon by the throat with his free hand, while still holding onto the jar containing the dragonfly. Spyro at least broke free of the kidnapper's deathgrip, when he swung his tail, striking at the kidnapper's helmet. The blow was so hard, it left a large dent at the side and several cracks were formed on the glasses of the helm. Once freed, Spyro made another lunge for Sparx, only to once again be held back by the kidnapper. During the struggle, Spyro grabbed a hold of the kidnapper's chest plate, who shouted, "Let GO!" as he struggled some more to get the dragon off. But Spyro wouldn't budge, as he sank his claws deeper into the chest plate, while feeling a surge of power from the chestplate. 'So much power!' he thought, as he focuses in on where the source is. 'There!' Having enough of the dragon, the kidnapper activated an arm cannon, charging its powers to maximum, and blasted the dragon off, sending him flying faster than a shooting star. However, just before that, in a desperate attempt to stop the kidnapper, Spyro had torn off the panel on the chest plate, and pulled out a small, sparkling stone. Before long, the kidnapper looked down to see his chestplate, missing its power source, as his suit loses power and with it, altitude. "NO!" the kidnapper cried, turning his head to Spyro, who is now nothing but a speck in the distance. "THE SCALE!" Both the kidnapper and Sparx then fell towards the ground beneath them. "SPYRO!" Sparx cried from within his jar. "SPARX!" After Sparx and the kidnapper vanished from his sight, Spyro looked in his claw to see the stone glowing intensively bright, as it surrounded him in a coat of shimmering, purple, blinding lights. Outside of Ponyville Spike out in the field, collecting some gems that he found, just as Celestia's sun was starting to set. "There should be some more gems around here," Spike said to himself, as he scratched his head. "It'd be a lot easier if Rarity were here." At the thought of Rarity, Spike quickly fell into another moment of daydream as a fantasy of him and Rarity came to mind. In his fantasy, he and Rarity were both running on the beach together. Then, they were having a picnic together. And lastly, Spike, with his bushy mustache, while dressed as a waiter, was serving dinner for Rarity, until a falling star came after them, and they...... "Wait! WHAT?" Spike quickly snapped back to reality, as he looked up to see a sparkling, purple flying object streaking across the sky. "Whoa! A shooting star!" Spike awed. Suddenly, the "shooting star" made a sharp turn and flew towards the little dragon. The little dragon quickly ducked down as the object flew overhead, before lurching upward. Then, at the peak of its flight, it split into two objects, both crashing into Ramble Rocky Ridge. "What was that?" Spike cried as he left his wagon behind and hurried off to investigate. //-------------------------------------------------------// The dragons, the diamond dogs, and a difficult quest //-------------------------------------------------------// The dragons, the diamond dogs, and a difficult quest After crash landing in some unknown land, Spyro slowly got up and dizzily surveyed his surroundings. His vision was blurry at first, but after it became more clear, he found himself alone in a huge crater. "What happened?" he asked. He looked up at the sky to see that it was getting dark, and the sun was setting. He flapped his wings and took flight, before perching on a boulder and looking to see that he was in the middle of a vast rocky terrain. 'Where in Skylands am I?' Spyro asked himself. 'Come to think of it, this doesn't feel like Skylands at all. I can feel some magical surge through the ground and in the air, but it's not Skyland's. In fact, it feels almost like the....' Spyro snapped back to reality as he looked down to see the stone that was with him was gone. "The stone! Where's the stone?" He leapt off the rock, and looked around. Spike ran as fast as he could, over to the spot where he saw one of the objects had crashed. As soon as he got there, he was amazed to see a huge crater, with something sparkling at the bottom. He carefully slid down to get a closer look, and could see something submerged in the dirt. He quickly dug it up and was awed to see a beautiful, sparkling stone. "Wow!" he gasped as he picked up the stone. It was lavender in color, in the shape of an oval, and when he turned it on its side, it looked almost as thin as a plate. "Well, what have we here?" a raspy voice called out, startling Spike, nearly causing him to drop the stone. Spike looked up to see several eyes, staring down at him. "It's the little dragon!" another raspy voice said, only deeper. Spike instantly recognized the voices. "Diamond Dogs!" he shouted. The leader of the dogs, Rover, jumped as he landed in front of the dragon, cackling. "We're flattered you remember us, dragon." "What do you guys want?" Spike asked, hiding the stone behind his back. "We hear big noise!" Rover replied, raspily. "Go BOOM! We came to see what the noise was, and we find....YOU!" "Well, if you guys want to know," Spike began. "It wasn't me!" Another Diamond Dog, Fido, jumped down and towered over Spike as he asked, "If it wasn't you. Then what was it?" "It was....." Spike started to sweat as he tried to come up with an excuse. Rover then noticed something sparkling behind Spike's back. "What's that behind your back?" he asked. Spike panicked as he tried to keep the stone concealed, and replied, "Nothing! There's nothing at all!" "Liar!" the third Diamond Dog, Spot, shouted as he jumped down in the crater behind Spike. He tried to grab the stone, but Spike held it with all his strength. "Give it to us!" "NO!" Spike cried, as he struggled to pull the stone back. "Let go!" Spot growled. "NO! You let go!" Spike replied, before he breathed fire and singed the dog in the face, forcing him to release his grip on the stone. Spike tried to run with the stone, but he was blocked by the bigger dogs, Rover and Fido. Rover tried to grab him, but Spike dove under his legs as he climbed out of the crater, with Fido running after him. Spike quickly saw a huge boulder above him and the dogs, and quickly loosened the smaller rocks that were supporting it, causing them to slide down and hit the dogs on the head. With a roar, the boulder came tumbling down and buried the dogs beneath the rubble. Spike climbed his way out, and he quickly looked back to see the three dogs poking their way out, rubbing their heads from the rocks, before they stared angrily at Spike. Then, Rover pulled out a small whistle and blew it. Not waiting to find out what would happen Spike quickly ran for his life, while hearing Rover howling, "Seize the dragon!" He looked behind him and saw several armored dogs, chasing him. "HELP!" he screamed, as he kept on running for his life. Spyro hadn't gone very far, when he heard a scream, and quickly sprang into action, flapping his wings, heading straight toward the source. He slowly came to a stop on a cliff and looking down saw Spike, being chased by a pack of enormous armored dogs, with huge gorilla like arms. The dogs kept on chasing the little dragon, until they got him cornered. "Leave me alone!" Spike cried, as he tried to breathe fire on the dogs, but only a small puff of green smoke escape his mouth. The dogs broke out into a fit of laughter, before they resumed advancing on the little dragon. They stopped abruptly when Spyro breathed a bigger stream of fire in front of them. The dogs looked up as he flew down and got in between them and Spike. "Back off!" Spyro growled. "The kid wants you guys to leave." The dogs looked at each other before they growled at Spyro and slowly crept towards him. "Trust me when I say this," Spyro began. "You don't want do this." One of the armored dogs made the first move as he pounced after Spyro, only to be knocked back when the dragon's horns glowed in a fiery aura and he rammed his head into the dog. "Okay! You asked for it!" With that, the fire in Spyro's mouth lit up as he took his battle stance. "I'm all fired up!" The dogs all charged in an attempt to tackle the dragon, but Spyro quickly let out a blast of fire from his mouth that scorched the dogs on parts of their bodies that aren't covered by their armor. This made the dogs even madder as they pulled out several spears, swords, maces, axes, and hammers before lunging towards the dragon. One dog swung his sword, to which Spyro ducked his head down, narrowly evading the strike from the weapon. Then Spyro quickly stepped forward, bringing his head beneath the dog's legs, flipped the dog in the air. With a howl it fell back down and landed on more of its comrades. Then, another dog came charging with both a hammer and a shield in his hands, as he was about to attack Spyro. But just as the dog swung his hammer down, the cunning purple dragon quickly slid along the floor, beneath the dog, horn first. Then, with his horns surrounded in another fiery aura, Spyro headbutted the dog from behind, causing him to stumble. After regaining his balance and focus, the dog turned around, only for Spyro to somersault, striking his tail on the dog's helmet, forcing it down, causing it to become stuck on the dog's head. As the dog struggled to get his helmet unstuck, several more dogs charged at Spyro with their spears aiming at the dragon, but they missed and accidentally stabbed their comrade in the butt, causing him to jump up with a howl. Meanwhile, Spike was hiding behind a boulder during the entire battle, and watched in amazement at how a dragon like Spyro, about the size of an average pony, couldfight off a whole pack of armored dogs. Truly, he's the type of dragon who lacks in size, makes up for in strength and ferocity. A dog tried to stab Spyro with a spear, but Spyro was quick to evade as he sidestep before he lunged forward and grabbed a hold of it in his mouth and lashed his tail at the dog's face, forcing the dog to let go. Two dogs came running towards Spyro with maces drawn, but Spyro quickly ducked as they both swung their maces and accidentally hit each other on the head, knocking them both in a senseless daze. The two dogs both stumbled, dizzily, waving their maces around, hitting the other dogs on the heads, noses, toes, tails, and any other body parts that are not protected by the armored. The battle kept going on as Spyro evaded more of the armored dogs' attacks, while at the same time, counterattacked their every move. Spyro eventually let out another powerful stream of fire at the dogs. Despite wearing protective armors, they still managed to find their rump getting scorched, causing them to yelp in pain as they jumped up in the air. One of the dogs jumped onto Spyro's back and tried to hold him down, only for the dragon to flap his wings and took to the air, as he flew higher and higher, almost touching the stratosphere, before he dived back down towards the ground, picking up speed as he and the dog both got closer, until finally at the last moment, he blasted a huge explosive fireball at the dogs, and landed hard on the ground, as a tailwind came after him, spreading the surrounding flames, creating a strong fiery shock wave that sent all the armored dogs flying, even the one on his back. The armored dogs finally had enough as they ran away, yelping. Spyro breathed heavily, before he turned back and checked on the baby dragon he was protecting. "Hey kid," he called. "You alright?" "Y-Yeah," Spike shyly replies, as he slowly came out of his hiding place to face the dragon before him. "That.....was....AWESOME!" With that, Spike walked around the older dragon, as he waved his arms around. "The way you fought off those dogs! Wow! I've never seen another dragon fight like that before! Heck! I never knew dragons can fight like that before! You were like BOOM! POW! RAWR! And those dogs are like OOF! OW! MAMA! My leg! You are......!" With that, Spike's face was scrunched up as he whispered, "So awesome!" Spike slowly walked up and gave Spyro a hug. "No problem kid." Spyro smiled, before he broke the hug. "All in a day's work." Spike raised his eyebrow in confusion at this statement. "Anyway, it's kinda late. Shouldn't you be back home by now?" Spyro asked. "Well, I was on my home, when I was attacked by those dogs," Spike answered, waving his claws in expression. "I see. Though, not to sound suspicious or anything, but what where you doing out here in the first place?" "You may not believe it, but there was this flying object that came out of the sky, not too long ago. It split into two and crash landed in this place. So I came here to investigate." "You came here to investigate?" Spyro inquired, before noticing the stone in behind Spike's back. "Hey! Where'd you get that?" "What? This?" Spike brought the stone out and showed it to the older dragon. "I just found it in a crater that's not too far from here. This is also the reason why those dogs attacked me." "May I see it, please?" "Sure," Spike said, handing the stone over to Spyro, who looked at it carefully. "Yep, this is the one," Spyro said out loud. "What?" Spike began to inquire. "Do you know something about that stone?" Before Spyro could answer, the two dragons felt the ground shaking violently. Not waiting to find out, Spyro began, "How about we just get the heck out of here first?" "Don't have to tell me twice." With that, Spike got onto Spyro's back as he flapped his wings and they took flight. The two dragons later landed in a spot where Spike's wagon was rested. The little dragon was relieved to see that all the gems he had collected were still there. "I'm glad to make it out alive to see you my sweets!" He exclaimed happily at his gems. "Huh?" Spyro said confused. "Um, nothing!" Spike quickly played it cool, as he turned around to face the dragon. "Thanks again for saving me. My name's Spike." Spike extended his claw. "Nice to meet you Spike." Spyro replied, tucking the stone away under his wings, before shaking Spike's claw. "I'm Spyro." "Cool name." "Thanks." Spyro then brought the stone out. "Anyway, to answer your question; I honestly don't know much about this stone. But I do know that it holds very powerful magic inside." "Wow! That's something Twilight would be interested in." "Who's Twilight?" Spike looked at the dragon incredulously. "You don't know her?" "No," Spyro replied. "Should I?" "I take it then that you're not from around here." "Yeah. Let's just say I just flew in." Spyro replied, "Still, who is she?" "She's my friend. Well more like my big sister. Plus she's a princess. And magic's her specialty. If there's any pony I know who knows alot about magic, it's Twilight herself." "Well then, perhaps she can-Wait a minute!" Spyro quickly stopped himself as he looked at Spike in confusion. "Any pony? This Twilight....is she....a....pony?" "Well, more of an alicorn to be precise. But yeah." "And she's your....big sister?" "She's kinda like a big sister to me. I mean we are friends and all, but together with her and some other ponies, we're all like a family. Is that a problem?" "No, I mean.....you're friends with ponies?" "I...um... Yes?" Spike squeaked. There was an awkward silence between the two dragons, as Spyro kept on staring at Spike in bewilderment. Finally, Spyro broke the silence as he exclaimed, "That's cool! I'm glad I'm not the only dragon to have ponies for friends." "You too?" "Well, some of my friends are ponies, or equine related. And some of them are half-ponies. But hey, I've made lots of friends from other races; ponies, griffons, elves, gremlins, fishmen, and other dragons. And we still get along just fine." "WOW!" Spike gasped. "Now I'm really jealous of you." Then, Spyro quickly remembered something. "Speaking of friends!" With a desperate look written on his face, Spyro looked around as he cried frantically, "Sparx? Where are you?!" Then, he turned his head to Spike and grabbed the little dragon by the shoulders and frantically asked, "Have you by any chance seen someone with a glowing dragonfly around?" Spike, still surprised by Spyro's sudden change of expression, hesitantly answered,"Uh, no?" "Arrgh!" Spyro groaned in frustration, as he dropped Spike to the ground and continued scanning the area. "Sparx?" He called out frantically. "Where are you? Can you hear me?" Spike rubbed his head, while looking at the distraught dragon. "Um, Spyro? Did you lose a pet or something?" Upon hearing that, Spyro's eyes became white, his scales darkened, as the fire in his mouth glowed dark, and his entire body emitted a dark aura before he turned to face the baby dragon and roared, "SPARX IS NOT A PET!!" Spike screamed as he curled himself up into a ball and cried, "I'm sorry! Please don't hurt me!" Spyro looked at the quivering form of the baby dragon. He felt a sudden pang of guilt, as the dark aura surrounding him dissipitated. "I'm sorry," he sighed. "But you're wrong. Sparx's not a pet. He's my best friend. And to top it off, he's my brother." "What?" Spike raised his eyebrow. "Your brother? How can the two of you be brothers?" "It's an adoptive relationship," Spyro replied. "But that's not important right now. I have to find him. No telling what kind of trouble he's in right now." "What happened to him?" "He was kidnapped." "What?!" Spike gasped. "Why?" "I wish I knew." Spyro turned and started walking away. "But when I get my claws on the kidnapper, I'll be getting some answers." "But don't you even know where they are?" Spyro paused for a moment, before he turned to look at Spike again. "No," he answered. "I don't. But I know they couldn't have gone far." "How do you know?" Spike asked. Spyro held the stone up for Spike to see as he continued, "This thing was from the kidnapper. That guy's really tough with magic. And it's all because of this little stone. Without it, I doubt the kidnapper could ever make it to the other side of the world by now." Spyro started spreading his wings out. "So if you'll excuse me Spike. I gotta get going." With a flap, Spyro was quickly airborned. "Take care kid." "Wait!" Spyro hadn't gone very far when Spile grabbed ahold of his tail, stopping him. "What?" Spyro asked, starting to get impatient. "Do you need me to walk you home?" "No it's not that," Spike began. "Let me help you." Spyro slowly descended back to the ground. "What?" He asked, turning to look at the baby dragon. "Did I stuttered?" Spike asked again. "I said I want to help!" Spyro gave a confused look, before sighing. "I appreciate the offer, Spike. But this my problem. I have to deal with it. I can't just drag you into it." "Maybe it is your problem," Spike said. "But like Twilight once said, 'Two heads are better than one.'"he smiled. "Plus, you looked like you're in need of a guide." Spyro scratched his head before replying,"You got a point." "Well lucky you!" Spike exclaimed. "Cause you've got a guide, right here!" He said, while smiling proudly and pointing at himself. Spyro once again, looked at Spike confusingly. Spike, having caught on to the dragon's expression, explained, "Hey! Just because I'm a small baby dragon, doesn't mean I can't be much of a help. Besides, It's the least I can do, after you've saved me from the Diamond Dog. "....." "I may not be a hero. Or a dragonfly rescuer. But I do have a lot of friends all over Equestria. And with their help, we can find your brother." Spyros pondered for a moment, before replying, "Ok. Guess there's no stopping ya." "Great!" Spike interrupted. "I guess we're all set then." "So, how do we begin?" Spyro asked. The two dragons pondered for a moment. "I know! Let's....." Spike was interrupted when he let out a yawn, resulting in Spyro to yawn as well. "How about we head back to Ponyville for some shut eyes?" Spike muttered. "But Sparx," Spyro said. "Don't worry Spyro," Spike began as he walked over to pull his wagon by the handle. "We'll look for him in the morning. We can't find him if we're both too tired to look." Spyro was about to protest, when he let out another yawn. "Ok fine," he muttered in defeat. "But where do I sleep?" "Let's head back to the Friendship Castle!" Spike exclaimed, while pulling his wagon. "You can bunk there!" And so, the two dragons hurried back to Ponyville. //-------------------------------------------------------// Of Family and Friends //-------------------------------------------------------// Of Family and Friends On their way to Ponyville, the boys decided to chew the fat, with Spyro being careful not to reveal too much about himself and Skylands. "So let me get this straight," Spyro said, as he and Spike walked along the road. "You were born inside an egg, but you were hatched by your friend Twilight, and then you were raised by ponies?" "Yep, you better believe it Spyro," Spike explained. "And it's actually not that bad. I mean, yeah, I may be a dragon, but a lot of ponies who are my friends, including Princess Celestia herself, have all been like a family to me since I was little. Well, littler." "Wow!" Spyro exclaimed. "That sounds kinda like how I was living in dragonfly society." "It does?" "Yeah," Spyro reminisced. "I was only an egg when Sparx’s parents adopted me. After I was hatched, all of the dragonflies in the village were scared of me at first. But in time, they got used to me and accepted me to be a part of their community.” "Really?" Spike inquired. “And what about Sparx? What was he like?” “Sparx?” Spyro chuckled. “For being so little, he’s got a lot of spunk. He's always out making troubles, or getting into troubles. Can we blame him?” Spike laughed, “Sounds like he’s quite a handful.” “Yeah, he sure is,” Spyro chuckled. “But he is still a good help to me on a lot of adventures we’ve had.” “Has he now?” "Yep, Sparx has always been by my side," Spyro sighed in nostalgic, "We did everything together, like all brothers do. We stick through thick and thin." "Wow!" Spike gasped. "Sounds like, you two were inseparable!" "Yeah, we were," Spyro smile quickly became a frown. "Until now that is." Spike looked sadly at Spyro, as he sympathizes for the dragon. He can see by the look in his eyes, how hard it is for the dragon to be separated from someone he had known since birth. Spike knew that if the same thing were to happen with him and Twilight, he too would be saddened and be willing enough to do anything to save her, or her saving him if the roles were reversed. Spike placed a comforting claw on Spyro's shoulder, "Don't worry Spyro. We'll find Sparx. And the two of you will be together again." Spyro looked at Spike and felt as if he was looking at Sparx again. He smiled as he patted Spike’s back with his wing. “Thanks kid,” he said. “No problem,” Spike replied, when he came to a stop. "Well, we're here." Spyro looked up, and before him was a quaint little village. It's still nighttime, so a lot of lamp posts were already turned on, while all of the houses’ lights were turned off, meaning everypony are all asleep. "So this is Ponyville," Spyro said as he surveyed the area. "Yep!" Spike replied. "There's no place like home." He gave out another yawn. "C'mon, our castle is this way." Spyro continued to follow Spike, through the town, before they both arrived at what appeared to be a huge crystal tree with a crystal castle perched on its branches. Spyro stood in shock, marveling at the sight before him. "Wow!" he gasped. "Yep, it's home alright," Spike opened the doors and pulled his wagon in. A moment later, he poked his head out to see Spyro still staring at the castle in shock. "Well, ya coming?" he asked. Spyro snapped back to reality, before he replied, "Oh yeah, I'm coming." The two dragons walked into the castle and Spyro was even more amazed at the structure of the castle’s interior. "So," Spyro began. "Where's this Princess Twilight Sparkle?" He asked, shifting his head from left to right, looking for the princess. "Oh yeah, about that," Spike nervously scratched the back of his head. "I guess I kinda forgot to mention this to you earlier, but Twilight's out of town." "What?" Spike chuckled nervously. "Ya see, Twilight's been called away by Princess Celestia for some kind of princess meeting in Canterlot. So I was left in charge to look after this place." “Really?” Spyro inquired, surveying the castle’s interior. “This whole place? Yourself?” “Well, I have Owlowiscious for company.” “Who?” “Owlowicious.” “Who’s Owlowiscious ?” “Who!” a voice hooted. “Owlowiscious,” Spyro repeated, “Who’s Owlowiscious?” “That wasn’t me!” Spike said. “Who!” the voice hooted again, causing the dragons to turn their heads to see an owl. “That’s him,” Spike pointed. “Who!” Owlowiscious called. “You!” Spike replied. “That’s who!” “Who.” Before Spike could respond, he was quickly cut off when Spyro talked back to Owlowiscious , surprisingly, in owl hoots. Spike watched in bewilderment at their conversations. “Good hoot to you too,” Spyro said, ending their conversation as the owl flew off. “You can talk owls?” Spike asked. “Yep,” Spyro replied, before he started to walk away. “Wow! Where’d you learn to do that?” “From my friend, Hoot Loop. He’s an owl magician, so he’s pretty much bilingual between english and owl hoots. Guess you could say, he’s a pretty good teacher, or I’m just a good student.” “Well either way, you gotta teach me that!” Spike exclaimed. “Some other time Spike, right now, let’s…..” Spyro was suddenly cut off by the loud, growling sound of his and Spike’s stomach. "Whoa!" Spyro exclaimed. "Guess all the stuffs that's happened today has worked up our appetite." Spike chuckled sheepishly, "Same here. Which reminds me," he began walking into the kitchen. "I've got a cake to finish!" While Spike went into the kitchen to work on his cake with the gems he had collected, Spyro in the meantime waited in a room, where he took notice of some pictures. Spyro walked over and took a closer look to see that they are pictures of Spike with six other mares. In each and every photos he looked, he can see the deep, strong, and loving bond between Spike and these six mares. "Dinner is served!" Spike called out, as he brought out a big cake over. "Wow!" Spyro exclaimed. "For just a kid, you certainly know how to bake a cake." "Of course," Spike replied, as he cuts a piece of the cake and put it on a plate for himself. "I can take care of myself. That's why I'm Twilight's number-one assistant." "'Number-one assistant?'" "Yep, you better believe it," Spike replied, cutting another slice, putting it on a plate for Spyro. "I've helped Twilight and her friends in lots of tough spots before. That's me for ya." He said, biting a piece of his cake. “Yeah, I can tell,” Spyro said. "How so?" "Well, it's kinda obvious from the pictures, isn't it?" Spyro said, pointing to the pictures in question. "You must be really helpful to be that close to the girls." "Like I said, I'm their number-one assistant," Spike said proudly. Spyro's stomach was growling very impatient, to which the dragon responded by dunking the whole piece of the cake into his mouth. "Mmm," He exclaimed, chewing on his piece. “This is delicious. And crunchy. What's in it?" "Oh, the usual," Spike explained. "Eggs, flour, milk, and the recipe that all dragons love, gems!" Spyro's eyes quickly bulged out. "Gems?!" Spyro muffled, before he stuck his tongue out to see shards of gems among chunks of the cake. "You put gems in cakes?" "Yep," Spike replied, wolfing down on his slice. "All the better for us dragons to eat cakes like these." With that, Spike continues pigging out on his slice, before moving onto the next, while Spyro looked on with uncertainty. ‘Gems are a delicacy?’ Spyro thought, as he chews on the gems in his mouth. While doing so, Spyro thought, ‘Crunchy. Minty. A bit sour. Spicy. Mmm, tastes kinda like candy.’ Spike was weirded out by Spyro’s observatory look. "What's wrong, Spyro?” he asked. “You looked as if you've never eaten gems before." "That's because I've never eaten gems before," Spyro said. Spike choked on his slice and coughed out a chewed up shard. "WHAT?!" Spike shouted. "You gotta be kidding me! You're a dragon, you're raised by dragonflies, you've got a dragon teacher, you’ve made lots of friends, but you've never had the chance to eat gems?! What kinda sick, twisted, messed up place did you grow up in?" "I'm sorry, Spike," Spyro said, comforting the little dragon. "But from where I come from, gems are used as money and in some cases, as decorations. We never knew they can be a delicacy." "Well, they're a delicacy alright," Spike smiled, chomping down on an emerald. "And delicious!” “So I noticed,” Spyro replied, as he picked up a ruby. “Cause strangely enough, they tasted a lot like candy. Or rock candy I should say.” With it, he took another bite off the gem. “Exactly!" Spike said, before he cut out another piece of the cake. “All the more reason for treasures to mean a thing to dragons like us. Am I right, or am I right?” Spyro smirked, “Guess that explains my instinct to hunt more treasures so often.” Spike’s eyes widened as he swallowed a gem. “You hunt treasures?” he gasped, to which Spyro nodded. “Get out!” “It’s true,” Spyro smirked. “Now, I don’t mean to brag, but I’ve found treasures of a thousand kings.” “Wow! You must be rich then!” “Naw, I wouldn’t go that far,” Spyro said, “I may be rich. But I’m also, generous.” “Really? How so?” “Well, when you travel around a lot, you tend to see a lot of places that are in disrepair and a lot of its people needing more than me. Besides, better to be generous than being greedy. Right?” “.....Uh, right,” Spike nervously smiled, remembering a certain incident from before. After finishing his plate, Spyro licked his lips in satisfaction. "I should tell my dragon friends about this. They don't know what they're missing." "Amen to that," Spike chuckled. After they had enough cake, the two boys were getting ready for bed. Spike then took Spyro to his guest room. "Here's where you'll be staying for the night," Spike said. “I hope you'll be comfy." "I think it'll do," Spyro smiled, examining the room before facing Spike. "Thanks Spike." "No problem, Spyro," Spike replied. "What're friends for? Um, we're friends now, right?" Spike asked, looking at Spyro pleadingly. Spyro walked up to Spike, who looked at him even more nervously with every steps. "I thought we were already friends from the start," Spyro replied with a smile and draping his wing over Spike's shoulder. "We are?" Spike asked, with his eyes star struck. "Yes we are, pal," Spyro smirked, patting Spike on the head. "AWESOME!!" Spike cried, before he quickly composed himself and said, "That's cool. Well, see ya in the morning." "Good night, Spike," Spyro waved, as Spike walked out of the room and closed the door behind him. Spyro walked over to a nightstand, and placed the stone on it, before he got up on the bed, curled up into a ball, and fell fast to sleep. Meanwhile, somewhere in Equestria. “...As if you don't know the first thing or two about keeping a dragonfly in a jar,” Sparx complained, much to the kidnapper’s ire, “Just because we're smaller than you big guys, doesn't mean that you're all the boss of us. I mean, we bugs do have our rights. After all, if you guys have done you're readings, you’d be amazed to see how big our ancestors were, and how we’ve lived for a very long time. And y’know how? Cause we, my friend, are survivors, which kinda make us much more dominant to the worlds we live in, and how we demanded for our rights.” “Will you just be quiet for ten MINUTES?!” the kidnapper screamed impatiently. “HEY! What’s a dragonfly like me to do? There’s nothing better to do than to just speak my mind. Plus, you ain't the boss of me, so I don't have to take orders.” The kidnapper growled, “If the master didn't need you so badly, I’d squished you  like the bug you are.” “Well then, I guess I'm…untouchable,” Sparx chided. Before the kidnapper could respond, a loud beeping was heard, coming from the device attached to the belt around his waist. The kidnapper took the device  to see it flashing "M." “Oh no,” the kidnapper gasped. “It’s the master!” “What? Did you forget to check in or something?” Sparx joked. “SHUT UP!” the kidnapper snapped, before he pressed the button device, emitting a circular holographic image of a shadowy figure with two red eyes. “Master,” the kidnapper said, bowing his head. “You are late,” the figure growled. “I do not like waiting.” “Forgive me, master,” the kidnapper pleaded. “I was just on my way back. But there were some interferences.” “Explain,” the figure hissed. “Well, right after I captured the dragonfly, you requested. I was pursued by the Skylanders you’ve told me about.” “Mainly my brother!” Sparx shouted. “Quiet you…” The kidnapper scowled, only to be intimidated by the figure to continue. “As I was saying, master, I had just been able to escape back here into Equestria.” “And I presumed you’ve used the scale I had entrusted you with before?” The figure asked. “Yes, master. I did, just as you instructed.” “Then where is it?” The figure asked, with eyes glowing menacingly. “He lost it!” Sparx answered, earning a death glare from the kidnapper, if only his helmet wasn’t in the way. The kidnapper turned his attention back to the figure, who is obviously not happy. “You had one simple task: to capture the dragonfly,” the figure growled. “But at the cost, you lost the scale?!!” “It wasn’t my fault, master!” the kidnapper explained. “The dragon…” “SILENCE!” the figure roared. The kidnapper bowed his head as he pleaded, "Forgive me, master. But please, give me a chance, and I'll see to it that the scale is recovered." "And how do you propose to do this, vermin?" "The scale has a distinct wave of magic spectrum. Even in it's current state, my suit can still track down the magic readings from the scale, and it can lead me right to it. I await your orders, master." The figure eyed at the kidnapper for a moment, before he answered. “See that you do. The dragonfly will wait. But the scale must be recovered. If anyone here in Equestria were to learn its secrets, all will be lost.” The figure's eyes glowed again, as he continued, “Do whatever it takes to recover the scale. Let no one, pony or dragon, harness its powers.” The kidnapper bowed his head, “Yes, master.” With that, the hologram dissipated, leaving the kidnapper alone, with Sparx.
