Love's Changing... or a Changelingby Radiated DarthChaptersThe Confession Given to the Wrong PonySo... Can I Eat Now?Double Edged SpikeLife on the LineThe Confession Given to the Wrong PonySpike nervously tapped his claws against each other as he walked his way down to the Town Square, he recently just sent a letter to Rarity telling her it was of urgent business, and that they needed to see each other at the fountain. He was finally gonna do it, he was going to confess his feelings for her, though it may be obvious the way Spike would swoon over her sometimes, still she had to hear it. 'Oh... Maybe I should've done this another day,' Spike thought to himself, getting cold feet about it, but sucked it up. He sent the letter so he knew he had to stand up and admit it, he couldn't just stand her up after telling her to meet up with him, 'C'mon Spike, think of how happy you'll be if this works out, and if not you can just forget about her... I hope.' He stopped as he neared the fountain, there she was as beautiful as ever, her luscious white coat, her majestic purple hair. She looked nervous though, chuckling half heartedly to herself, eyes darting all around, and wearing that fake smile as though trying to blend into the area, even though nopony was around. Spike sucked in his courage and approached her, ready for rejection or acceptance. She noticed him, wincing for a brief moment as if her heart skipped a beat. "I have to tell you something. Ever since I first met you in Ponyville, I always thought you were... just so amazing. Your beauty was a-and still as more striking as anypony I've ever met, from your hair to your hooves I knew I fell in love with you. And this entire time I've been hiding it, even though s-sometimes the occasional affection may show, making it p-pretty obvious. I just can't help it though, the feelings I have for you just... sometimes seep through my own being and I have to show so I don't explode. I know I'm too young to be seen with you, l-let alone since I'm a dragon, but if not now t-then I hope that some day you... give me a chance?" Spike finished, exhaling with quavering breath, feeling as though that confession took a life time. Rarity didn't know how to react, confusion and hundreds of different emotions overcame her. "Spikey?" a feminine voice asked. Spike knew only one pony called him by that name, he turned around, seeing yet another beautiful white maned pony, looking exactly like Rarity! He snapped his head back again to see the same Rarity he confessed too, staring intently at the other Rarity. He snapped his head around several more times, trying to process just what was going on! "Spike, do you know who this pony is and why she looks exactly like me?! Is this why you sent me that letter?" Rarity asked. "Unbelievable, she couldn't even get my curls right." "N-no I was going to-" Spike tried to explain, but was cut off but a hoof wrapping around his mouth. This hoof had such a weird pattern to it, with holes in the leg, he tried to turn his head, quickly making out a changeling, of course, that's why it looked so much like Rarity, the changeling morphed into her image! But how did it know her if she wasn't there earlier?... "It seems here that this little cutie proclaimed his love to me, I like him so much I just might keep him." she said pulling Spike closer to her. "You give me back my Spikey this instant!" Rarity demanded. With that the changeling quickly ascended upwards, flapping her bug like wings rapidly as she flew off into the forest. "With the love you output I can feed myself forever with such affection. I've been feeling rather lonely and hungry as of lately," she chuckled. Strangely enough this laugh wasn't maniacal or intimidating, but actually happy. Or maybe Spike was just thinking nonsense since he wasn't getting enough air, he squirmed around in her arms, she never released her grip around him though, slowly he felt himself getting weaker as he fainted in her arms. Twilight sat in her Lobby, levitating books off her shelf and reorganizing them. She laid with a warm smile on her face, "I simply love book reorganizing day. Maybe I can even find that one particular romance novel I misplaced, a pony can only hope!" Rarity barged into the library, disrupting Twilight's spell as all the books toppled onto the floor, littering the ground with books. "Rarity, what's wrong?" "Of all the worst things that could happen, this is the worst possible thing!" "You say that about everything. Last night you said that because you forgot to get conditioner for your shower. "That was a very awful thing though darling. B-but that's besides the point, Spike has been kidnapped by a changeling!" "What!? Where did it take him, and how did it get into Ponyville?" Twilight asked, her brow furrowed "The changeling was disguised as me, I don't know where she took him, she probably hauled him off to enslave him or something! And the way she looked, you could tell it was me but my god the posture and her hair..." Rarity quivered. "Can't you send a letter to the Princess or something?" "The only way I could do that is with Spike, and now that I hear he's kidnapped, letters are off the table. The only way I can get a letter to her is personally flying there, and I still don't feel comfortable using my wings, especially for that long a flight. We'll just look for him together." Twilight bravely announced. "My Spike, in the hooves of some dirty changeling. Who know's what they're doing to him by now!" "Rarity." Twilight said softly. "It's my fault, I should've told him to step away the moment I thought she was a changeling." she said, babbling to herself. "Rarity! Get a hold of yourself!" Twilight said shaking the delusional pony, "Listen, Spike will be fine, we're going to ask around to see if anyone else has seen a changeling fly over head recently, and we'll find him and handle it together, alright?" Rarity nodded, shaking slightly with a pouted lip. "Alright, let's go get him back." Author's Note Just a simple thought of Spike confessing to Rarity and throwing a Changeling into the mix. I was planning on making this a one off with a funny ending, but I kinda feel like making it into a little story now . To those who've already read this, I had to revoke it because the state it was in. It was quickly written, hardly proof read, and had Rarity out of character. I didn't exactly have time to work on it when I realized how shoddy of a job I did, nor did I want anyone reading it until fixed. Though it's now posted again, and (hopefully) more readable than before. If anyone's interested in becoming a proofreader, please contact me through FimFic messaging. Hope you enjoyed the story, please remember to like if you liked it, or to dislike if you didn't like it. That way others can see if it's any good or not. Which it really isn't... heheh... So... Can I Eat Now?The changeling threw another log into the fire place, giving the abandoned wooden cabin a dim lit look to it. She paced back and forth in front of the unconscious baby dragon limp on the couch, her stomach growling like mad. 'In all my excitement for snagging someone with a lovers heart I must've suffocated him, and here I thought he was just so snug against me that he'd fallen asleep...' She placed her ear up against his chest, to clarify for the fifth time if he was still breathing. She'd been waiting a while now, about twenty minutes, that little confession earlier was a nice snack but she hadn't eaten in days, she wanted more from this dragon. As fate had it Spike slowly began to stir in his sleep, groaning as he awoke, she was awaiting this moment to transform, she took the figure of the pony who he had confessed to, hoping he'd fall for it. When his eyes would opened, she would try her best to act like the character she was cloaked as. 'Okay think... Earlier she called him Spikey, sounds like a pet name, that's good I can use that to better convince him. And he called her Rarity... Right, Spikey and Rarity. He's in love with this pony, so tell him all he wants to hear.' Spike's eyes slowly opened, his chest hurt as he coughed slightly as he awoke, bringing his claw up to his mouth as he looked around with still sleepy eyes. Everything was so blurry that he could barely make out shapes, he kept his focus on a moving figure until his vision came back to him, it was Rarity! He wasn't sure how to react, why was he in this cabin? Why was Rarity with him? He tried hard to remember what happened before he was asleep. "Rarity?" he asked weakly. "Oh you're awake, I was so worried about you... erm, Spikey." "What... what happened, why are we here?" 'He's eventually going to remember what really happened, so it'd just be best to turn the story around rather than lie,' she thought to herself. "Once you got caught by that nasty Changeling she flew you here, but she ran off afterwards and left you in this cabin. So I waited for you to wake up." Spike's mind quickly unraveled, quickly remembering the events that happened earlier, the letter, the fountain, the changeling... "We better get headed back then, Twilight's worried about me I'm sure. A-and the princess probably needs to know about the lone Changeling flying around." Rarity's eyes hot open in alarm, "NO!... I uh, mean no Spikey. I was actually thinking, we could live out here together, away from everyone else. You did say you loved me didn't you, well now we can live together, like you wanted!... Right?" She couldn't stand much more of the stalling, she needed to eat now or she would collapse. "I wouldn't want that Rarity, besides your boutique back in Ponyville, and all your friends. Besides why live in a place like this with a dragon like me?" "I... I can't take this anymore." she sighed with shaking hooves, her power wore off and she reverted back into a Changeling. Spike winced in surprise as she fell limp on the floor. "I-I knew it! Rarity would never act like that!" he shouted as he nervously walked backwards towards the door. "Just leave me to die... I'm a pathetic excuse for a changeling," she whimpered. Spike slowed his retreat, curious if she was toying with him or not, "If y-you're trying something, I will run." "I can't hold you back... I'm just so-" she coughed weakly, "hungry." Spike was very confused, he cautiously approached the changeling, her eyes were closed, her breathing sounded like a whimper each breath she took, she looked in pain as though she was sick. "W-what's wrong?" he asked, pressing his claws gently on her cold body. Her eye's opened, surprised to see he was still there and kneeling down to her, though his face was full of panic and worry. "I'm withering because I have not eaten in forever." "There's plenty of food in Ponyville, why not just eat there?" "You don't know much about changelings, do you?" she weakly chuckled, "We feed off love of others, when we're shown affection or kindness it's what keeps us going, in fact you doing what you're doing now is already making me feel warmer inside. They don't even have to be real about me, just kind." "So just saying nice things about you will help feed you?" Spike asked, she nodded. "Well uh... I think your voice sounds really cute, and for a changeling you're rather nice." She groaned softly, "Keep going, say more of a lovers type thing." "W-what?" "Like that Rarity girl, you said a lot of lovey dovey things about her." she wheezed. "Oh she's amazing, the way she praises me when I help her, the w-" "Yes but, say them to me." "Oh s-sorry... I uh, I think you're beautiful, you're always so elegant and giving, when I'm around you I feel like the most luckiest dragon ever." Spike persisted for ten minutes, beginning to run out of things to say, but she motioned him to stop, as she stood up slowly her leg's slightly trembled, but she still stood before him. "Feeling better?" "I'm stuffed." she giggled, making Spike laugh as well. "Why did you help me though? Why not just... run away? Had you known the sorta things we do to other ponies you would've left me for dead." "Spike helps out a pony no matter the cost!" he declared, "Also I felt kinda bad for you, you were so weak you were going to just die." "Well chances are I will anyway," she pouted, making Spike jerk in surprise, she turned away from him. "The fact that I'm a changeling in pony territory, well... It's likely I'll be put to death." She turned back with a weak smile, "But now that you've saved me, I am forever in your debt. My name's Mimic by the way." "You don't act like other changelings though, or the ones you describe. You act like anypony else." "That may be true, but I'm still what I am, a changeling. And that's all the princess is going to see when I stand before her, not my personality, not my thoughts or opinions." "Well... we just won't turn you in then, we can keep you out of the public's eye, o-or maybe she can make an excuse. My sister Twilight is really good with the princess, she gave Twilight the gift of being an Alicorn." Mimic's eyes shot open, "Are you serious?" "Well she's not really my sister, she's a pony and I'm a dra-" " No no no, the whole princess thing. That just might work actually... If she's on good grounds with the princess and all I might now be sentenced to death after all! I really owe you now, the kidnapping, and preventing me from dying, in two ways!... Well hopefully in second. But if this works out I will serve you until your death." "Uh, you don't really have to do that," Spike assured with a laugh. "I'm only a pawn, without a leader I'm aimless. I mean I abandoned Chrysalis ever since so many were split up when the whole marriage thing between Shining Armor and whatserface went south. After that I've been struggling to stay alive, not so easy unless you have a leader who leads you to food, luckily for me this leader will do both!" she squealed as she nuzzled Spike. "Just one thing though... why take the image of Rarity? Back at the fountain." "Oh... well it's a huge coincidence actually. I snuck into Town at night and needed a body to copy. Everyone was already asleep except this one particular pony who was sitting at her table drinking coffee, looking rather frantic with papers of dresses on them. I took form of her and the day after I tried to seduce other ponies, but I was terrible at it. It just so happened to be the day where I was starving and was searching the town square for anypony I could get any sort of affection off of." "Why'd you look so nervous then?" Spike asked She blew a raspberry, "I wasn't nervous, I was playing it cool." "You were shaking and sweating frantically," Spike replied flatly. "Well you try being undercover without eating for five days," Mimic pouted. "Ahah, that's no way to talk to your master now is it?" They both laughed. "You oughta get going back, I think it'd be kinda dumb me walking around in public so I'll stay here." "Who says you have to stay?" he giggled, then whispering something into her ear. "You sure? No one's gonna question it?" she asked. "Nah, they'll just think it's me with a friend." "Well alright." she got a good look at Spike, focused on her magic, and reformed herself into Spike's image. She looked around her body, her tiny claws, her slithery tongue, her little spiked tail. "Perfect," Spike muttered. Author's Note Should be one more to go after this! Will either Twilight or the princess approve of this changeling in Ponyville? Might Spike fall for Mimic or Rarity? Where are my pants? Find out on the next story or something ... Hope you enjoyed the story, please remember to like if you liked it, or to dislike if you didn't like it. That way others can see if it's any good or not. Which it really isn't... heheh... Double Edged SpikeSpike walked with other Spike back to the Library, he had a lot of explaining to do. Of course Twilight could pardon Mimic, but only if he could convince her to, maybe some blabber story about doing scientific research on Changelings or something. He'd never wish anypony to her experiments and testings, so it was a last resort. Mimic was acting awfully strange though, insisting on holding hands on the way there, Spike didn't wanna be rude so he agreed. They just made their way out of the forest and back into a dirt path leading back to Town. "So, this Rarity. You really like her huh?" "Whadda ya mean?" Spike asked. "Well that was an awfully sweet confession you gave when we met," she explained. "Yea, I've always kinda had a things for her. I fell for her the first time I met her." "I know, you told me when I was her," she giggled. "But..." he started hesitantly. "But?" "I think she's only using my love to make me do things. N-not that she thinks I'm useless, I know she honors our friendship, but I think that's all I'm gonna be to her is just a friend," he said it a sigh. He pulled his claw away and folded his arms into each other, staring at the ground. "She's missing out, lemme tell ya. You're love is far more filling and divine then any other I've had the opportunity of taking," she replied. "Heheh, you kinda sounded like her for a bit there. It's pretty freaky to hear you talk like me though, even though you are me can't you use your own voice instead?" "How else would I be able to act like you? Hiya, I'm Spike!" Mimic said in an upbeat tone. "Eugh, that really how I sound?" "I think it's cute," Mimic giggled. "You think this Twilight would be okay with me residing at your home?" "Maybe, she's an odd pony. What she refuses one day she generously offers the next. Then again we can just bring up experimentation on you and offer you to stay, at a last resort of course. I'm still putting up with some of her quizzical theories to this day." "If that works, ponies are gonna be awfully scared with a Changeling among them," she said with a sigh. "You should've seen they way they reacted around a dragon. I've gotten mixed reaction from full on fear to daww's and cheek pinches. It's odd how you ponies have hooves but still manage to grab things sometimes... Still don't fret, everyone's used to me now, I'm sure it'll be the same for you too," he replied with a smile. "And if not, I got you," she added. "Aw I'm not anything special." "You say that but you did what no one else would've. You saved me after I kidnapped you and pretty much held you against your will, not only that but your offering me to live with you, and pardon my probable death sentence. So I'd say you're more then special, you're a life saver, a hero even. So I am now your servant." "Jeez you don't have to keep saying that," he laughed embarrassed. "Still though, kinda funny that the assistant of a princess has an assistant now." Spike noticed a cottage as they kept walking, it seemed now that he realized they were closer to the library than he thought. He walked past several ponies, of course he drew some attention seeing as there were now two 'dragons' walking among the ponies, but no shrieks or shrills. Mimic wore a toothy smile and she waved her claw to everyone, a few warm smiles gestured towards her. Spike nudged her a bit. "What's wrong with getting a little love or attention?" she giggled. "I thought you said you were full earlier?" "It takes a lot of effort and energy to wear the image of that of another creature than our natural bodies. So I'm a bit peckish since I've been you for a while now." Spike nodded, he didn't know a lot about Changelings, but since his unfortunate kidnapping he's learned a lot about them. If left him to think just what may try to kidnap him as well, maybe a griffin or a bat pony. Harsh memories of Gilda rushed back to him, as well as some terrifying thoughts of being in a bat pony's stomach. "This place sure is interesting. nothing like where I live back home. Everypony was a hive mind, kinda thought the same. Cycles, thoughts, goals were the same for the most part. Eugh, I still remember the orders that would buzz around in my head, 'Eat, work, sleep, repeat. Eat, work, sleep, repeat.'" she groaned. "It's strange here though, seems that everyone has a purpose, but never really the same. She's working the counter, he's hauling a cart, she's delivering mail... quite horrible I might add." Her eyes jumped back and forth as she looked up to the sky, Spike followed her gaze and noticed Derpy, her wings flapping at their own separate accord as mail slipped out of her bag. "What was your home like?" Spike asked. "Meh, Chrysalis brain washed us to think it was spectacular. Thinking back to it now though, it was cold and dark and damp..." she droned, her nose wrinkled in disgust thinking about what she once called 'home'. "It's weird, I still remember the way I used to think. We used to keep prisoners, you'd occasionally hear their pleads and cries to go free. We used to think it was a just a sweet melody, now it's just gut wrenching knowing we did that sorta thing." "But you're not under her control anymore, what changed that?" "Well once a changeling is free of the rulers perimeter, they slowly regain their original consciousness, though in the last couple of days before it begins, this weird feeling snaps in your head that you have to find her as soon as possible. Guess it's just a way to keep more subjects in order and from running. It happened to me, all I could think about is going hungry and never returning to the hive we lived in. In wore off about two days in, good riddance." She looked to him with a playful grin, "You ask a lot of question." "Twilight always said if you never ask you'll never know. And I wanna know more about Changelings, seeing how I'm in the company of one. There's not a lot of books in her library that explain them though, other than a few about their anatomy and a few trivial things." "Like what?" she asked, genuinely curious. "Most all changelings are born with a set of both wings and horns so they take the form of those they copy with more ease. And that those, one in one-thousand, born without wings and or horn are disbanded from the hive and are sent out to fend for themselves. Another thing is that changeling birth consists of emerging from eggs or pods, others are just created. Don't know entirely what that means about the 'created' part, the book said no more then that. Do you?" "N-not that I'm aware of, as far as I know every changeling I knew was hatched." She looked like she was hiding something, Spike hated to pry seeing it must be pretty bad if she wasn't willing to admit just what 'created' changelings really were. Spike was about to say something, but the words quickly dissolved in his head when he noticed the leaves of the library swaying in the wind, they were almost there. "Alright, well it's time, you ready Mimic?" "As ready as I can be. How you wanna do this, serious or jokey?" "Serious, but not TOO serious cause I want her to like you - B-but not TOO funny cause she's a kinda serious pony. Then again she-" "Spike. I get it." she replied flatly. "Okay," Spike sighed as they stopped at the door. He brought his claw up to the door handle of the library and opened it. Inside he could see hundreds of books sprawled out among the floor, Twilight poked her head around the corner to see who had came in, her eyes lit up when she saw Spike. "Spike!" she exclaimed, her voice filled with joy and relief. She galloped over to him and nuzzled him, he smelled a bit different though. "Eugh... Twilight." Spike said, giggling a little at how Twilight was nuzzling the flustered Mimic. Twilight looked over at real Spike, then back at Mimic, her face full of confusion. "Spike, what's going on here?" she asked. Her head swaying back and forth as she spoke, unsure of which she was talking to. Spike's laughing slowly died away, he realized it was serious time. "I'll explain, but it'd be best to talk inside." Twilight nodded in agreement, as she slowly trotted back inside, her face still puzzled. Spike motioned Mimic inside too. He shut the door behind him, not wanting to draw attention to everyone in Ponyville to the soon angry Twilight. Author's Note I'm hoping to have this all wrapped up in the next chapter. I planned on it being this one, but I have this thing going where I don't exceed 2000 words and I'd like to keep it going . Still though I hope those of you reading this shmuck enjoy it, I've been doing a lot of reading in class about Kite Runner, it's super descriptive and pretty good. I hope I pick something up from it and are able to put it into my stories... Well not everything from the book cause it's pretty dark, there's a part where a 12 year old boy rapes another 12 year old boy. Have yet to get to that part, but I'm curious to see just what the hell happens that leads to it . Off of the topic of rape, the next chapter will be out whenever. Sorry this one took so long to get out . Hope you enjoyed the story, please remember to like if you liked it, or to dislike if you didn't like it. That way others can see if it's any good or not. Which it really isn't... heheh... Life on the LineMimic and Spike sat before Twilight as she paced back and forth trying to comprehend what they had told her. "So, just to get this straight. You were gonna confess to Rarity, but when you confessed she turned out to be a Changeling and kidnapped you. You not only befriended her, but made her your pawn-" "Well when you say it like that it sounds like I'm her master or something..." Spike interrupted. "MADE YOU her pawn, if I may finish Spike. Then you cloaked her as yourself and brought her back here! Why the hay would you do that?!" "She's no longer with Chrysalis anymore Twilight," Spike began. "She may not be, but why would she kidnap you?" she demanded. "I'm greatly sorry to have kidnapped Spike, it wasn't my intention to do so, he was being so romantic and cute and feeding me so well when I hadn't eaten in days. But then that Rarity pony showed up, I wasn't thinking straight when I kidnapped him. I was going to release him the second I was full, honest. A-and if I hadn't kidnapped him I'd be dead, I almost did die when he tried to run, but he came back and saved me." Twilight looked to Spike, her face confused but her eyes full of surprise. "Why would you do that Spike?" "I don't know, I just felt bad for her I guess. Even if she kidnapped me and all I couldn't leave somepony to die, I did what I thought was right," Spike explained. Mimic smiled weakly, seeing Spike stand up for her. "Spike your loyalty and kindness is going to get you killed some day." "Well you have friends that you're loyal and kind to as well, so maybe you should stop being friends with them!" he retorted. "My friends aren't changelings Spike, she could've been lying about Chrysalis and then flown you back to her!" Twilight thundered. "It'd be better to be with them then a closed minded pony like you!" Spike shouted, tears forming at his eyes. Twilight's face was full of hurt too, she recoiled at Spike's harsh words. Both of them just stared at one another, Spike heaving and Twilight whimpering softly, still wearing her angry eyes. Spike and Twilight had never fought like this, sure maybe a little argument over simple things like hogging the blankets or who gets the last muffin, but not about what to do with a Changeling. Spike closed his eyes and sighed shakily, "Remember Nightmare Moon, the now forgiven Princess Luna? At first everypony hated her, and when she finally came back from her banishment, everypony was so afraid, wrecking chaos and what not. But in the end the princess still forgave her, cause she knew that she had changed, that she was just lonely and misunderstood." "Spike there's still some major differences with those comparisons." Twilight rebuked, her voice more gentle than earlier. "No one's problems are gonna be the same, but their solutions still hold something similar. Forgiveness and a chance, at least let her stay here for a week or so, if you don't like her by that time you may do with her what you want." Twilight's eyes stopped looking so flared, more dim actually, she smiled a bit. "As smart as I may appear to be I can still be very hot headed and foolish. You're right Spike, I'm sorry Mimic, I'll gladly give you a chance. However I'm not quite sure how Celestia will take it, but you have my word I will try as hard as I can to try and convince her to allow you to reside in Ponyville." "I'm quite grateful Twilight, and thank you too Spike, for fighting so passionately for me," she chimmed as she hopped over to Spike and wrapped her hooves around him. "I couldn't ask for a more better master." "Okay... We're gonna need to fix the whole master thing." Twilight giggled nervously as she separated the two off each other with her magic. "Wait, how'd you hear about the kidnapping in the first place? You said you had heard, but from who?" Spike asked. "You think Rarity would just let you get kidnapped and not tell me about it?" Twilight jested, "She came and told me somepony disguised as her took you. I was actually in the middle of writing to the princess to see if she could dispatch some spare guards to help search for you." "How were you going to get it to her? Ya know, since your messenger was kidnapped." Mimic chirped. "I was going to fly there." Spike's eyes shot open, to think Twilight would fly over a thousand wing beats just for him. "Looks like we both have a compassion for saving strange creatures, me for dragons and you for changelings," Twilight added. "Heheh... So wait, where's Rarity?" asked Spike. "I sent her out to Fluttershy's, see if she had seen a changeling flying overhead. But now that we have that changeling, I doubt we'll need that info anymore. I sent her out a while ago, so she should be back any moment now." Twilight's eyes shifted to Mimic, "It may not be best for her to see you when she gets here, maybe go to one of the room in the ba-" "Run a bath, Twilight," Rarity gagged as she swung open the Library door. "One of Fluttershy's disgusting little weevils urinated on me and I don't wa-" Rarity paused. "Twilight, are you aware that there's a changeling in your residence?" "Yes Rarity," Twilight said, "bu-" "Then why have you not tied it up and summoned the princess or her guards?!" Rarity yelled. Twilight winced, worried that all this attention was gonna draw ponies to her house and notice a changeling. With no other option Twilight materialized a zipper along Rarity's mouth and zipped it shut. Immediately Rarity attempted to undo it with her magic, but Twilight still held onto it with hers. "Rarity I understand your reason of alarm, but if you just listen I can explain." Rarity shot Mimic a dirty look, but her gaze softened when she saw Spike out of the corner of her eye. Her eyes watered. She was so happy to see him back and safe. She dropped her head and turned her head back to Twilight and nodded. Twilight released her spell on Rarity's lips, she batted her eyes a few times to make her tears go away. "Now then, Spike has clarified that Mimic, the changeling, is harmless. She's a rogue from her hive, and says she is no longer in commission of Chrysalis," Twilight explained. "As of now she is unknown by the princess or the other ponies, but while she is in my residence I ask that you do not harm or belittle her. "But, isn't she the one who kidnapped Spike?" Rarity asked, her brow furrowed. "Yeah I kinda did. B-but it was only to stay alive, I was going to release him when I was through getting love out of him." "That doesn't explain why you were disguised as me though!" Rarity replied, angered. "Rarity, not so loud." Twilight interjected. "Sorry darling," Rarity replied, but still very irritated. 'This Mimic kidnaps Spike, but Twilight is getting mad at me for getting a little out of tone?! Unbelievable...' "Sorry about that too, it was kinda coincidence actually," Mimic laughed nervously. Rarity sighed heavily, she couldn't exactly argue here but was still annoyed. She turned her attention to Spike, "I'm just happy you're safe Spike. I was oh so worried about you, when I first saw you conversing with her - well her as me - I didn't know what to think. But this is what you were telling me about, no? The changeling disguised as me?" Twilight and Mimic both stared at Spike, awaiting what he had to admit. "... Yes." Spike exhaled, Mimic and Twilight then stared at each other puzzled, then back at him. "I-I'd already told Twilight but I thought you needed to see too. But when I was going to tell you then she popped outta nowhere and kidnapped me, huge coincidence really." Spike chuckled. "But weren't you two conversing when I showed up?" asked Rarity. "Yes," Spike began. "Bu-" "I was just trying to get some love out of him, you know," Mimic cut in. "I h-heard Dragon's love is pretty filling from the other Changelings." "Ah... Well now that that's all cleared up, I suppose we best ask the princess for a pardon?" Rarity replied. "Huh? Oh, right the letter." Twilight quickly levitated a scroll and her feather and ink well, and began to draft a pardon letter for Mimic. 'Dear Princess Celestia I am writing to ask you pardon a changeling by the name of Mimic here in Ponyville. She shows no signs of evil or wrong doing, and says she has split paths with Chrysalis. I am in no place to tell you what to do, but I urge you to allow her allowance in Equestria, or at least in Ponyville. I shall keep a close eye on her and observe her movements as to guarantee one-hundred percent that she of no harm. Sincerely, Twilight Sparkle' "Here you are Spike," Twilight said, levitating the letter over to Spike. With a puff of flames it was off to the Kingdom, awaiting the princesses answer over the matter. They all stood there in silence for what felt like hours, awaiting the fate of the changeling that bored itself into their lives. "W-what if she says no, what of me then?" Mimic shuddered, the fear just beginning to drape over her. "We'll let you go, so you can try your best to escape. It's the best we could do." Twilight offered, Mimic gave a small smile of gratitude, however the dread still fell over her. She felt a claw wrap around her hoof, she noticed Spike was shaking as well and holding onto her to best try and comfort her. For some reason, all her worry had melted away. Spike felt it in his chest, a letter was on its way, he burped it out, catching it and tearing it open almost immediately, a ribbon fell out of the letter, Spike brushed it aside with his foot. He then began to read it aloud, "Dear Twilight. This is indeed of surprise, but we are not so barbaric as the other hive changelings. If any creature is willing to abide by the laws of Equestria, then they have a right to stay such as any other pony. However to show that this changeling is different than others, we ask him or her to wear this ribbon provided along with the letter. Tell Mimic we hope she enjoys the freedom that Equestria brings, and to stay out of trouble. Sincerely, Celestia." Mimic's eyes were full of joy, as well as her smile, her sharp toothy smile. Spike picked up the ribbon from the floor and examined it. It was soft to the touch, silky. On the front it bore the emblem from the national Equestrian Flag, two Alicorn sisters maintaining night and day. "What's the emblem for?" asked Mimic. "To clarify you are a legal citizen of Equestria now. Changelings are considered illegals due to natural shrewdness, but this ribbon will differentiate you and the other unwanteds here in Equestria." Twilight explained. Spike carefully tied the ribbon around Mimic's neck with his claws, didn't want to send another letter to the princess asking for another ribbon. Spike drew away, it looked well on her, really complemented those pale blue eyes of hers. "Well as much as I'd like to stay and hear about the story, I have important orders to fill out. Plus I really must get this urine off of me. Goodbye Twilight, and to you too my little Spikey," she said as she nuzzled him. She smelled of sweat, almost like Rainbow Dash, but Spike could still manage to pick out that perfume she'd love to wear. With that she trotted out of the library, making sure not to open the door to wide for other ponies to see her. "In the meantime, Mimic, you can stay with us. I need to whip up some tests to run on you, maybe even start a book, this could be fun!" Twilight said as she walked off back into her studies. Now it was just the two of them, a pony who just moments ago was considered illegal and guilty of an illegal action, who now had a clean slate. She smiled coyly at Spike as she adjusted her ribbon. "I guess we'll be spending a lot more time together now, huh?" Spike said. "Yea," Mimic said with a laugh. "Tell me though, why did you lie to Rarity, still to shy to admit you love her?" Spike looked away upset, but then looked to her with a smile. "I realize somepony loves me more than she does, somepony who needs me more than she ever will. A pony I've grown more attached to in the short time I knew her than I ever knew Rarity." "Who?" she asked, her face burning with embarrassment. She already knew the answer, but wanted to hear it for herself. Spike wrapped his claws around her, she leaned down so he could hug her better. "You," he whispered. Author's Note I really don't have much to say here, other than I'm glad I got this chapter finished, and this story finished. If anyone for whatever reason wants to make a sequel to this, by all means please do so, just contact me first. Hope you enjoyed the story, please remember to like if you liked it, or to dislike if you didn't like it. That way others can see if it's any good or not. Which it really isn't... heheh...
The Confession Given to the Wrong PonySpike nervously tapped his claws against each other as he walked his way down to the Town Square, he recently just sent a letter to Rarity telling her it was of urgent business, and that they needed to see each other at the fountain.
