"Goodbye, ma'am, and have a nice day!" Bon Bon stretched her legs and looked over at the clock. That last sale had dragged on for a bit, but now that the customer had left, Bon Bon could close her store and call an end to yet another long day of wor-
"Good evening, Miss!" Bon Bon sighed, but as she turned to see who had interrupted her attempts to close the shop, she found Lyra grinning, a bouquet of roses in her magic and five bits in her hoof. "One of your finest bouquet of roses, please!"
"That'll be five bits," Bon Bon said, chuckling as she took the money and put it into the register.
Lyra then presented the roses her friend. "These are for you, bestie."
"Awww, thank you, BFF." Bon Bon took the roses and sniffed them, a blush crawling across her face. "It smells just like best friendship."
Lyra extended her hoof, which Bon Bon took as she rounded her counter. "Well, friendship is in the air tonight, Bonny."
The two left the store, ready for their perfect date – as best friends – to begin.
The two stopped by Quills and Sofas first, as the store had recently expanded into beds and the two were looking to buy a new one after the last was destroyed by a freak Tirek-related accident that insurance wouldn't cover.
The first bed that Lyra had spotted was one shaped like a racing cart. Bon Bon pulled her away by the ear under the gazes of many onlookers. After that, Bon Bon found a bed that was wide, and tall, and fitted with a heated-mattress and built-in massage settings. Lyra's wallet pulled Bon Bon away under protest.
Lyra then looked at a bunk bed, and Bon Bon then looked at a matching pair of futons.
Eventually, the two came to a consensus of a rather large double bed that was spacious, yet would still fit in their room. That was off the ground, but wouldn't require a step to climb up to it. That looked nice and had 'cool' colours, without it being for children. And that only included one luxury, so that Lyra could still afford to eat for the following month – they had both settled on the vibration feature. Something about it appealed to them.
"I can't believe we're gettin' this awesome bed for our house!" Lyra positively screamed with excitement.
"I know! This is really a huge step in our relationship… as best friends!"
The two smacked their butts together as the shopkeeper rolled his eyes. "Will you two… "friends", be carrying this home? Or would you like to have it delivered?"
"Delivered, please," Bon Bon said.
"I've got a date!" Lyra put her hoof around Bon Bon's neck. "With my best friend here!"
"Oh, Lyra!" Bon Bon blushed at being referred to as her best friend."
"Uh, very good. Then it shall be there by ten tonight."
"Great! We live at-"
"Yes, I know where you live," the shopkeeper said, cutting Lyra off.
Lyra tilted her head and took a nervous step back. "How do you know where we live?"
"Just… trust me. Your somewhat… famous, around Ponyville."
Lyra thought for a second, before it dawned on her. "Oh, right! My music!"
"… Sure. That."
And so, after giving the shopkeeper her autograph without him even asking for it, Lyra escorted her best friend out of the store, hoof-in-hoof. Their next destination was Ponyville's most friendly spot: the park!
Ahh yes, the park. A place where friends from all over Ponyville gathered to spend time alone together – a fabulous oxymoron that is only truly appreciated by the best of friends, like Lyra and Bon Bon.
"The lake looks lovely today," Bon Bon said as she stopped to gaze at the large body of water, its still waters reflecting the light of the sun beautifully.
"Not as lovely as you, bestie."
"Oh, you!" Bon Bon said, kicking her friend's foreleg with a giggle. "How was I so lucky to get a best friend such as you?"
Lyra leaned her head on Bon Bon's shoulder. "Star-crossed best friends…"
"… Been to Twilight's again?"
"Eh, she's just a regular friend. You're my best one."
"Well, you know that 'star-crossed' means 'doomed to fail' right?"
"… Don't ruin the moment, Bonny."
Bon Bon giggled, before something across the lake caught her eyes. A pair of ponies were kissing, their tongues wrestling out in the open as their hooves were practically all over each other.
With a blush, she averted her gaze. "Looks like those two are best friends, too."
"Yeah," Lyra said, capturing the moment with the camera in her mind. "Lots of friends out here, actually." She looked around, seeing more pairs kissing each other around the park.
"It's so nice that Ponyville is such a friendly community," Bon Bon said.
"That's why I moved here." Lyra saw park's clock in the distance and gasped. "Uh, we'd better hurry if we wanna get to the restaurant on time."
"Awww, do we have to? Maybe we could just order out."
Lyra began to sweat. "Uh, no no. I put way too much money into those reservations and they're non-refundable."
Bon Bon sighed, but smiled regardless. "Oh well. Since it's you, I'll let it slip. Because you're my best friend."
And so, the two walked through the park, not noticing the strange looks of the ponies around them, who waited until they were gone to speak up.
"Are those two in denial?" one mare asked.
"I think they're crazy," a stallion answered.
"No man, they jus' like, tramatised from all da crazy shit dat goes down here, dog," a second stallion chimed in.
"No, no… They're just crazy," Twilight said, lowering her binoculars and writing into her notepad. "But it makes an interesting study. Technically a friendship study, too!" With glee, Twilight hopped after the two best friends.
The second stallion simply shook his head. "Man, all da bitches be cray in this here township…"
The Cackling Donkey was Ponyville's finest restaurant after The Elegant Swan burned down the other week, based off of Detrotean design. Ever since it became the finest restaurant in the town by default, reservations skyrocketed, to the point that the owner had to hire a private detective to prove that he was not involved in his rival's destruction.
Lyra and Bon Bon entered the restaurant and looked around. It was rustic yet homely, not requiring a fancy dress code and not filled the snobbish air of an equivalent restaurant up in Canterlot. Arcade games for the foals sat in the walkway to the counter, behind which was a bar with many components for fine, exotic drinks.
The heavenly smell of hay fries and onion rings greeted her nostrils as Lyra talked to the waiter, whispering something into his ear. He nodded, and escorted the two to their table. They ordered their meals and, as they ate, they discussed their days.
Lyra had talked about the angry old stallion who was 'fed up with her rock and roll', which ended in a doctor and two security guards from the hospital coming in with a straightjacket, and Bon Bon talked about the foal who had come to buy flowers for his mother, but wasn't sure what he could buy for one half-bit. She felt sorry for him and gave him a 'special discount'.
"That's so like you, Bon," Lyra said. "A sucker for kids, as always."
"But they're so cute," Bon Bon replied. "Sometimes I dream about having one of my own, so that I can dote on them… And we could all be best friends together."
"Eh. I could never see myself being friends with a kid," Lyra admitted. "Not that I hate 'em or anything, but I can barely take care of myself."
"I noticed," Bon Bon giggled, reaching forward to pick the piece of lettuce stuck on Lyra's cheek. She ate it as Lyra chuckled and blushed nervously.
"Besides, I wanna take things one-step-at-a-time. Speaking of which…" With a clap of her hooves, the lights dimmed, and sweet jazz music began to play. Bon Bon gasped as Lyra knelt before her, and many onlookers stopped eating to watch the spectacle happening before them.
"Bon Bon, for as long as I've known you, you've been just… amazing… You were there for all my worst moments, and shared all my best ones with me. And when I was about to give up on my music forever, you stopped me, and reminded me of who I am."
"Lyra…"
Lyra pulled a box out of her mane, and opened it with her magic. Inside was a ring, with a diamond embedded at its centre. "Bon Bon, will you… spend the rest of your life… as my best friend?!"
Sighs and groans filled the room, and ponies went back to their meals as the lights were turned back on and the music screeched to a halt. One pony had to be restrained as she threatened to kick the two.
The two best friends never noticed, though, as Bon Bon had snatched the ring and cried, "Oh Lyra, of course I will! C'mere, bestie!"
The two embraced, tears rolling down their eyes. This was the best night of their lives. They were to be BFFs… Forever…
The perfect date led to the perfect dinner which led to the perfect evening. What better way to end this perfect day than to have the perfect sex… perfectly? In their perfect new bed, no less. Truly, perfect.
As the two best friends explored each other's mouths and grinded their sexual organs against one another, friendship practically filled the room in liquid form.
"AH! AH! OH, LYRA, YOU'RE SUCH A GOOD FRIEND!"
Lyra's tongue hung out of her mouth as she grabbed Bon Bon's leg and thrusted more forcefully. "Yeah! Tell me what a friend I am!"
"OH! YOU'RE SO FRIENDLY! YES! YES, MAKE FRIENDS WITH MY CUNT!"
Lyra felt herself reaching climax and her mind started to go blank. "Oh hands, Bon Bon, I'm gonna… FRIEND YOU!"
"M-Me too! Let's friend together!"
The two screamed in unison as they came – sorry, 'friended' – all over each other's bodies.
"I-I can't stop friending!" Lyra cried as the torrent from between her legs showed no signs of stopping. "Your too good at being my friend!"
"I-I'm friending, too, Lyra! I love you, as my BEST FRIEND!"
Finally, the two stopped, and they shared one final kiss before taking separate showers – as they are only friends – and then going to bed, for they would need their energy for what was to come the following day…
"Do you, Lyra Heartstrings, take this mare, Bon Bon, to be your-"
"I do," Lyra said, her excitement too strong to allow the mayor to finish. The audience held onto their seats as all eyes turned to Bon Bon, and some of the more-emotional of the crowd began to cry. "I do take her… as my best friend!"
At once, the audience was in an uproar, groaning and jeering at the two confused mares at the front. Suddenly, one mare shouted, "You're lesbians!"
And then, all of time seemed to freeze.
"… So… Guess we're lesbians, huh?" Lyra asked, sitting next to Bon Bon on their couch back at their home.
"Yep," was all that Bon Bon could muster as a reply.
"… And everypony knew it but us."
"Seems so." A long moment of silence passed, before Bon Bon asked, "What now?"
"… Wanna bang?"
And then they did, all night long, and it was glorious.
