Chapters How Rainbow Dash Saved Hearth's Warming
It was snowing in Ponyville. All of the houses were decorated from top to bottom with christmas lights, bells, candy canes, and all sorts of decoration to celebrate the spirit of Hearth's Warming, which is tomorrow.
With Hearth's Warming Eve just around the corner, every pony were all excitedly working nonstop to finish their works and shoppings in time for the holiday.
Suddenly, something sped past the villagers, followed by a strong tailwind that sent snows flying onto every pony. That something, is none other than Rainbow Dash, who is just excited as everyone, carrying some saddlebags of gifts, while singing, Jingle Bells.
While singing her musical number, Rainbow Dash was surfing on a snowboard that she had just purchased from a nearby store and performed some flying tricks, sending out gifts to everypony she was aiming for. While doing this, a certain pegasus filly exited out of Sugarcube Corner, licking a candy cane. When she saw Rainbow Dash flying by, she fluttered her wings excitedly before galloping after her hero. She did of course, met a few obstacles, such as sliding on a frozen ice puddle, crashing into a bank of snow and came out as a snow sculpture of a griffon, and avoiding some mistletoes so as to not get kissed by some colts.
Rainbow Dash started to slow down as she was coming to the end of her song, before arriving at the Friendship Castle.
"Rainbow Dash!" the filly's voice called out, revealing itself to be a triumphant Scootaloo who finally managed to catch up.
"Hey Scootaloo!" Dash smiled, as she and the filly embraced each other. "Happy Hearth's Warming Eve kid."
"Thanks, Dash," Scootaloo said as she pulled out a gift wrapped in red papers, with a rainbow ribbon. "Here's your present!"
Dash gratefully took the gift, "Thanks kid." She reached from her saddlebag and pulled out her gift. "Here's your present!"
Scootaloo smiled, as she gratefully accepted the gift.
Dash and Scootaloo both walked into the castle to see that every pony were all getting the castle ready for the holiday. Rarity was fixing some rips in some scarves, hats, and stockings. Applejack and the apple family were heading into the kitchen with Pinkie Pie and the Cakes to make some treats for the holiday. Twilight was telepathically hanging up some ornaments on the tree, with Spike using a ladder to hang up some streamers with Starlight assisting the two.
"Guess everypony's excited as you are for Hearth's Warming Eve," Scootaloo smiled.
Rainbow Dash chuckled, "Can't we help it? Hearth's Warming is pretty much the best time of the year!"
"I know! It's the time we give each other presents! Eat some delicious foods! Play in the snow! Get some new toys! And...."
"Whoa! Whoa! Whoa, kid!" Rainbow Dash said, stopping the little filly and giving serious look. "Don't forget what Hearth's Warming Eve, really is all about."
Scootaloo's facial shifted to a bored expression, as she replied, "Hearth's Warming Eve is a traditional holiday, in which we celebrated for the founders of Equestria in their victory against the Windigos."
"And do you remember, how they beat the Windigos?"
Scootaloo bore a smug look, as she said, "Is that a trick question? They beat the Windigos with what we all have. The magic of friendship!"
At this point, a small smile started to appear on Rainbow Dash, as she listens to the little filly.
"Since then, every year on Hearth's Warming Eve, we remember to share our love and appreciation for each other to keep the magic of friendship alive, or else, the Windigos will return and conquer us," Scootaloo smiled before turning to Rainbow Dash. "And what better way to share my love, than to spend Hearth's Warming Eve, with my hero."
Rainbow Dash blushed a little and smiled, "Alright kid. So you remember your history lesson. Now do your best, not to forget them. Got it?"
"Got it!"
With that, the two shared a secret hoofshake, ending in a sisterly embrace, not caring the loving looks from the ponies were giving at the sight. The sappy moment was cut short, when the sound of stomach growling was heard.
"Whoa!" Scootaloo exclaimed. "I'm hungry."
Dash looked down to see her stomach was growling as well, "Flying, singing, snowboarding, being awesome really can work up an appetite," Dash smiled sheepishly. "C'mon, let's go see what's cooking in the kitchen."
The Apple Family, the Cakes, and Pinkie Pie were hard at work in the kitchen, getting the foods ready for dinner.
Applejack was cutting the apples for the apple pies. Granny Smith and Big Mac were putting some fresh batches of cookies into the oven. Apple Bloom and Pinkie Pie were cutting doughs into shapes of ponies of the three tribes. The Cakes meanwhile were making some candy canes, decorating some cakes with iced colorings that all matched the theme of the holiday, all the while watching over Pound and Pumpkin Cakes.
"We're going to have the best Hearth's Warming Eve feast celebration, ever!" Pinkie cheered, bouncing excitedly.
"Easy there, Sugarcube," Applejack said, stopping Pinkie's bounce. "We won't be having anything to celebrate, if ya had an accident."
Pinkie scoffed, "Applejack, you worry too much! I'm always careful! Besides, what could go wrong?"
Just then, they smelled something burning.
"OH NO!" Pinkie screamed. "My Super Duper Incredibly Surprising Hearth's Warming Candy Cane Pie!"
Pinkie Pie quickly opens up the oven, and the whole thing came flying out, heading straight for the door, just when Rainbow Dash walked in.
"Hey guys! What's-" Before Rainbow Dash knew it, she was hit in the face by the pie.
Applejack, Pinkie Pie, the Cakes, and Apple Bloom, all gasped as Rainbow wiped some of the pie's crusts and fillings off. Scootaloo, who was struggling to keep her laughter in, was laughing and pointing at her sister-figure, before some of the pie's filling was shoved into her face. It was Rainbow Dash's turn to laugh, only to be met with a bowl of flour to the face, causing her to have a Santa Hooves eyebrow, mustache, and beard.
Scootaloo laughed even harder, before she stopped when Rainbow Dash gave a smug look and said, "Of course you realize, this means war!"
"Bring it on!" Scootaloo smirked, donning an empty bowl as a helmet, while both she and Rainbow Dash got some ball of dough in their hooves.
Pinkie rushed out of the kitchen, before coming back in with some instruments and wearing a cowgirl's outfit, and played a classical western number.
"DRAW!" Dash shouted, quickly throwing her dough, which knocked off Scootaloo's helmet.
Scootaloo ducked behind a counter and threw some dough at Dash, who dodged her head to the side, causing the dough to fly past and hit Big Mac. Big Mac turned his head, and mistook Applejack to be the culprit and threw a batter at her. Soon, every pony in the kitchen were caught up in the food fight.
Pinkie Pie quickly changed into a mariachi costume and was playing a lively spanish song. She was happily playing her instruments away, when a pie Rainbow Dash had thrown at Scootaloo, was dodged and it hit Pinkie Pie in the face.
Pound and Pumpkin Cakes both giggled as they got out a bag of flour and poured it onto Applejack, distracting her long enough to get in the face on both sides with pies from Apple Bloom and Big Mac. Granny Smith was hiding behind a counter, wearing an army helmet and wave a rolling pin around, hollering, "You shall never take me alive!"
A ball of batter came and nearly got Granny Smith, if she hadn't ducked down in time, and it got Mrs.Cakes.
Rainbow Dash and Scootaloo were still at it with each other, as Scootaloo threw some cupcakes at Rainbow Dash, who retaliated in throwing some Zap Apple Jams at the filly.
In the midst of the scuffle, Pinkie Pie got out a pie and was looking for Rainbow Dash. "Pie in my face, will you?" Pinkie Pie grunted. "I'll give you a mouthful."
Scootaloo then saw some toasts in a refrigerator and quickly took them out.
"You're toast, Dash!" Scootaloo smirked, throwing the toasts like ninja stars at Rainbow Dash, who quickly ducked down behind a counter. Then, the cyan pegasus got up, with a big straw, and blew a raspberry, which Scootaloo caught in her mouth.
Rarity had walked into the kitchen with Fluttershy, and were shocked to see the fight that was going on.
"What in blue blazes is this?" Rarity asked, before she and Fluttershy ducked from an incoming batter ball.
Pinkie Pie was scanning through the whole battle, until she spotted Rainbow Dash. "Now I'm gonna stuff you!" Pinkie said, threateningly, slowly advancing on Rainbow Dash, only to be carried away by a runaway cart, "Catch you later!" The cart was heading straight for Rarity, who fortunately was able to stop it. Unfortunately, she was unable to prevent Pinkie Pie from flying forward and accidentally shoved the whole pie into the unicorn's face. "Sorry Rarity!" Pinkie cried, before she made a run for it, while Fluttershy ran off to get help.
Scootaloo got some cookies, and ate some, before she picked up a bowl and put it on her head, only to discover too late, it was filled with flours, courtesy of the baby Cakes, who were laughing at the filly's tragedy.
Rainbow Dash was hiding behind a counter, sneaking, and keeping her head low to the ground.
Pinkie Pie, still bent on getting revenge on Rainbow Dash came out with an even bigger pie, "I'll get her for sure this time!" Pinkie growled, before she said in a singsongy voice, "Oh, Dashie!~ Where are you? I've got a great jug of apple cider with your name and cutie mark on it."
Unknown to Pinkie, Dash was closer than she thinks, "I'm right here!" Rainbow Dash said as she stood up, oblivious that Pinkie Pie was behind her, and inadvertedly shoved the pie into Pinkie's face. "Where's the cider?"
Pinkie Pie, foiled again, spluttered, "I'll get you next time."
The kitchen was a battlefield of batters, pies, cakes, and all sorts of food, flying at the ponies, laughing and yelling. This went on until a voice cried out, "Everypony FREEZE!"
Every pony were all engulfed in a purple shimmering aura, and were frozen right on the spot.
Standing in the doorway, is a fuming Twilight Sparkle. "Care to explain what's going on here?" she asked.
"She started it!" Rainbow Dash and Scootaloo said, pointing their tongues at each other.
After some mops, sponges, and buckets of waters were given, the whole kitchen is polished, and the cakes, pies, muffins, and gingerbread ponies were all finished cooking.
"Mmmm," Pinkie said, savoring the smell of the baked goods. "Gingerbreads!"
She reached out for one, but her hoof was quickly smacked away by Granny Smith.
"Not yet, youngen," Granny Smith glared.
Pinkie groaned, before whining, "Then how come Dashie and Scootaloo get to have some?"
"They're not having...." Granny Smith turned around too late to find two apples, in place of some gingerbread cookies.
Rainbow Dash and Scootaloo were walking through the halls, chewing on the cookies they swiped.
"I can't believe we're getting away with eating stolen gingerbread cookies, before dinner," Scootaloo whispered.
"Well, it ain't exactly spoiling dinner, when you're only eating one cookie," Rainbow Dash stated. "Besides, we didn't steal the cookies. We just....um, exchange them with apples."
"Oh Rainbow Dash!" a voice hollered, to which Rainbow Dash grimaced in disgust. The two pegasi turned their heads to see Fluttershy's brother, Zephyr Breeze, with another flirting look on his face. "Why don't you come over and get cozy with me?"
'As if,' Rainbow Dash thought, knowing Zephyr better when she sees the mistletoe above him.
Scootaloo looked around, before calling out to a giant turquoise unicorn mare, with lime green mane, "Hey! Nelly, look! He's under the mistletoe!"
Zephyr Breeze's jaw dropped, as the unicorn tackled him and kissed him.
Rainbow Dash couldn't help but laugh at the scene, "Thanks kid," she smiled.
"What're little sisters for?" Scootaloo said proudly.
Suddenly, the castle door was burst open, and every pony looked to see a young reindeer, standing in the doorway. The reindeer stands almost as tall as Princess Celestia, with antlers that are medium sized, and a distinct feature, a glowing red nose.
"Is that...."a colt began. "Rudolph?"
"Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer?" a filly asked.
This set off several murmurs between the ponies, as the reindeer looked up and weakly said, "Rainbow Dash.....help!"
With that, the reindeer collapsed on the floor.
"Oh goodness," Fluttershy gasped, rushing over to the exhausted reindeer.
How Rainbow Dash Saved Hearth's Warming
Santa Hooves Kidnapped? To The Rescue!
"Here," Fluttershy said softly, holding a cup of herbal tea to the exhausted Rudolph.
"Thank you," Rudolph said, as he gratefully accepted the drink from the kindhearted pegasus.
"Pardon me, uh Rudolph," Applejack began. "But what's this about needing Rainbow Dash for help?"
"Oh yes," Rudolph began, clearing his throat, as he turned to the pony in question. "Rainbow Dash, you must come back with me to the North Pole! Santa Hooves's been kidnapped!"
"WHAT?!" every pony exclaimed.
"KIDNAPPED?!" Rainbow Dash shouted.
"By who?" Twilight asked.
"That's the question. I don't know. No one knew, besides my father," Rudolph sighed, recalling the events that happened. "It all happened so fast!"
'All of us at the North Pole were getting ready for Hearth's Warming, like we always have,' Rudolph explained.
Rudolph was busy warming up, alongside his father, Blitzen, and their fellow reindeers, Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, and Donner. Meanwhile, Santa was in his office, reading all the little ponies' letters, while his helpers were busy singing in the workshop, building the toys for all the good fillies and colts, before loading them all into Santa's sleigh.
Things were going smoothly, until Blitzen sensed a disturbance and sniffed the air suspiciously.
"Dad?" Rudolph inquired.
"Something's wrong," Blitzen answered, looking at his son with concern.
"What is it?"
Blitzen sniffed the air, turning his head in the direction of a dark cloud and a great wave of snow. His tail stood up in fear as he trotted away, saying, "We must get to Santa! Hurry!"
With that, the reindeers all broke into a trot, but too late. The reindeers were all swallowed up by the blinding wind of the snows. Rudolph's nose glowed crimson red, dispelling the darkness.
"Dad?" Rudolph called. "Dash!? Dancer? Anybody? Where are you guys?"
Rudolph stumbled his way through the blinding wind, before he came across the frozen statue of Vixen. He backed up in fright, bumping into another statue, of Cupid. Rudolph's sight adjusted as he gasped in horror, to see all of the reindeers frozen in ice. Rudolph quickly galloped back to the workshop to discover all of Santa's helpers, frozen. Fearing for Santa, Rudolph quickly raced through the facility, making his way up to Santa's office, only to find it completely ransacked, with Blitzen lying on the floor.
"DAD!" Rudolph called, rushing to his father's side, noticing the ice starting to form from his legs. "Oh no! You're freezing up!"
"I'll be alright son," Blitzen coughed. "They've taken Santa! You must get help! Find Rainbow Dash!"
"What? Who's taken Santa?"
"No time to explain," Blitzen was frozen up to his neck. "Go get Rainbow Dash! Save Santa before midnight!" By the time he finished his sentence, Blitzen was completely frozen as an ice statue.
With a look of determination, he leapt out of the window to begin his long flight to Ponyville.
'I won't fail you father,' Rudolph thought.
"And you know the rest," Rudolph finished, leaving every ponies in the room with a mixed look of shock, disappointment, and anger.
"I can't believe this!" Applejack exclaimed angrily. "What kinda low down varmint would just go and kidnap Santa like that?"
"We'll find out later, after we find Santa and rescue him," Rudolph turned to Rainbow Dash. "So what do you say Rainbow Dash?"
Rainbow Dash was a little hesitant, feeling the pressure overcoming here.
"I-I don't know," Rainbow stuttered. "I mean, are you sure I'm the right pony for this job?"
"If my father believes you can do it, then so do I," Rudolph replied. "Please Rainbow Dash! You've got to help us! Do it for all the little fillies and colts around the world! Do it to save Hearth's Warming!"
Rainbow Dash looked around at all the ponies in the room, the fillies and colts in particular, looking anxiously at her. Hearth's Warming means everything to them. To have it canceled and ruined would break their hearts and their love for the holiday. With a look of determination, Rainbow Dash turned to Rudolph and said, "Sign me up! Let's save Hearth's Warming!"
Rudolph smiled, as all the ponies gave a cheer.
"Thank you, Rainbow Dash," Rudolph smiled. "Now, let's go! We don't have much time to waste!" With that, the reindeer leapt towards the door, with the cyan pegasus following.
Every pony all cheered as they followed Rainbow and Rudolph out of the door. All, except for Scootaloo, who just stood with a look of concern on her face.
Rainbow Dash didn't waste a second as she went back home and dons on a pair of goggles, a scarf, a snow mask, snow boots, a coat, as well as her saddlebag.
After she felt completely ready, Rainbow Dash went back to Ponyville where every pony and Rudolph were all waiting for her, with a giant cannon, courtesy of Pinkie Pie of course.
"Judging by the maximum power of the thruster," Twilight examined. "The current wind speeds, then by my calculations, both Rainbow Dash and Rudolph should be able to land directly at the center of the North Pole, in exactly 30 minutes, giving them precisely 8 hours 30 minutes to spare."
"Okie-dokie-lokie," Pinkie saluted, while holding a pie behind her back with her tail. "And I've got a pie waiting for her when she gets back," she secretly laughed evilly.
"You're positive you've got everything you'll need?" Twilight asked, looking Rainbow Dash over. "The harsh climate of the North Pole is very fatal to any pony who comes unprepared."
"Don't worry, Twilight," Rainbow replied, brushing Twilight off. "I'm all about adventures. Besides, Rudolph knows the North Pole better than any pony. I'll be with him the whole time."
Twilight gave a look of concern, "I hope you know what you're doing."
Before Rainbow Dash went into the cannon, Applejack approached her with a box on her back.
"Here Sugarcube," Applejack said, handing Dash a box of apple fritters. "In case you need something to eat."
"Thanks AJ," Dash smiled as she and the farm pony tenderly embraced each other, before they released. Dash stuffed the box into her saddlebags, when Rarity came, and gave Dash shining blanket that was neatly folded and wrapped in a red ribbon.
"Just a little something to keep you warm, darling," Rarity explained.
"Thanks Rare," Rainbow accepting the gift, before she was embraced by the unicorn.
"Be safe darling," Rarity cried, before she whispered, "And be sure to save Hearth's Warming with style."
Rainbow was a little creeped out by the last part, but nevertheless nodded her head, as Fluttershy came up next.
"Um, I know this may not be much," Fluttershy whimpered, holding out a small whistle. "But, in case you need help, I'm sure there are some friendly penguins there."
"Thanks Fluttershy," Rainbow placed the whistle around her neck. "Take care of yourself and your animals. And if I don't make it back, promise me that you'll take care of Tank for me when he wakes up."
Fluttershy shed a small tear at the thought of never seeing her friend again, before she tightly embraced Rainbow Dash and sobbed. Fluttershy was pried away by Pinkie Pie, who quickly came up and gave Rainbow Dash a box, with a tag that reads "Do Not Open Til Hearth's Warming."
"Um, what is it?" Rainbow inquired.
"Uh uh uh," Pinkie shook her head. "I can't tell," she whispered. "It's a surprise."
"Well, thanks Pinkie Pie," Rainbow Dash quickly finds herself being hugged to death by Pinkie Pie.
"Just don't go and die, Dashie!" Pinkie bawled, while thinking, 'Or else my Revenge On Dashie's Return Party Pie is baked for nothing.'
"Pinkie! Let go!" Twilight shouted, levitating the depressed party pony away, before she walks up to Dash. "Here Rainbow," Twilight levitated a picture frame of the six together. "Something to remember us for."
Rainbow looked at the picture and smiled through her mask.
"Thanks, Twi," Dash said, embracing her friend.
"DASH!" a voice called out.
Dash cringed as Zephyr Breeze approached with a mistletoe hanging over his head.
"Please Dashie," Zephyr exclaimed dramatically, holding the mare's hoof. "If this the last time we'll ever see you. At least let me be your first and last kiss!" With that, Zephyr puckered his lips out, to which Rainbow pulled her head back in disgust.
Luckily, Scootaloo once again came to her rescue as she jumped in between. Zephyr's eyes bulged wide open when he realizes who he's kissing, on the cheek.
"Oh come on!" Zephyr screamed in outrage. "INTERFERENCE!"
Ignoring the protesting stallion, Scootaloo quickly blew a whistle and Whoa Nelly appeared.
"He wants another kiss!" Scootaloo smiled mischievously, pointing at the horrified stallion.
"Whoa Nelly," Zephyr panicked. "Don't look at me that way!" Zephyr ran like the wind, desperately trying to escape from the love struck unicorn.
Dash and Scootaloo shared a laugh together, "Thanks again, Squirt," Dash smiled.
"No problem, Dash," Scootaloo smiled, before she tried climbing into the cannon, but was stopped by Dash.
"Where do you think you're going?" Dash inquired, looking serious at the filly.
"With you of course," Scootaloo began. "If you're going, then I'm coming too, Rainbow Dash."
Rainbow Dash shook her head as she leveled herself with Scootaloo, "I can't take you with me, Scoots," she said, sadly. "It's too dangerous."
"But, you need me," Scootaloo said, disheartenedly. "We're sisters, we're a team!"
"We are, but this is something that I have to do alone," Rainbow Dash draped a wing around Scootaloo as she softly said, "Look Scootaloo, it's not that I don't want to take you with me. It's that I don't want you to get hurt. So please, stay."
Scootaloo nodded sadly as she walked back into the crowd. Then she quickly came back to rub her nose with Rainbow Dash's, before they parted.
After the heartwarming moment between the two foster sisters, Rainbow walked back to Rudolph near the cannon, "Let's do this!" Dash said.
With that, both she and Rudolph went into the cannon, as Pinkie levels it in accordance to Twilight's calculations.
"FIRE IN THE HOLE!!" Pinkie shouted, lighting the cannon up.
BOOM!!
Rainbow Dash and Rudolph flew off into the distance, disappearing in a twinkle out of sight.
"Good luck, Rainbow Dash!" Twilight whispered.
Every pony all resumed their plans for Hearth's Warming Eve, while at the same time pray for Rainbow Dash's success.
"So, what should we do now?" Sweetie Belle asked.
"Let's go to Sugarcube Corner and get some cups of hot cocoa!" Apple Bloom suggested.
"Yeah," Sweetie squealed.
"How about you Scootaloo?" Apple Bloom asked, turning around, "Wanna....come?"
The little pegasus was nowhere in sight.
"Hey! Where's Scootaloo?" Sweetie Belle asked.

Welcome to the North Pole

Sorry Bluecatcinema. But after much debates with my editor, the Breezies just aren't cut out to take place as elves. They're more fairy-like than elf. Guess we're due with some primates for elves.
Welcome to the North Pole
8:09 PM, Dec. 24
After being blasted out of Pinkie Pie's giant cannon, Rainbow Dash and Rudolph flown across Equestria at an immense speed, before they crash landed in a pile of snow at the North Pole.
Rainbow got up, shaking the snows off, before looking around to see the state the North Pole was in. Obviously, the whole land was covered in snow, but the sky was darker than usual, with clouds swirling overhead. The winds were blowing violently, sending lots of snow into Rainbow Dash's face, thankfully shielded by her goggles and mask.
"So, this is the North Pole?" Rainbow asked. "I'm even more surprised to know that anything, besides you and Santa Hooves, could live here."
"Oh believe me Rainbow Dash," Rudolph muttered. "It's home. Though, it's never really this harsh before," Rudolph's red nose glowed and a beam of crimson light was emitted. "C'mon, Hearth's Warming Town is just this way."
With that, the two trudged onward to Hearth's Warming Town, pushing their way through the strong, icy, blinding winds, with Rudolph's red nose lighting the way.
"Q-Q-Quite the w-w-winter wonderland," Dash shivered.
After what felt like hours, the two finally reached Hearth's Warming Town, which is completely buried in snow.
"NO!" Rudolph screamed, running through the ruins of the town, frantically digging through the snow.
Rainbow Dash followed, shocked to see the devastation befalling on Hearth's Warming town, especially on Hearth's Warming Eve. Suddenly, through her goggles, she noticed something moving in the snow. As she got closer, she was shocked to see a white pony, with icicles for horns, levitating snow shovels, and shoveling through the snow. Soon enough, Rainbow Dash looked around to see even more white ponies with icicles for horns, shoveling throw the snow. One of the ponies had shoveled a pile of snow away, tossing it in the air before coming back down and landed on Rainbow Dash. Rainbow Dash shook the snows off, before another pile landed next to her, causing her to back up a bit, bumping into something, alive.
Rainbow turned around and was met with an angry stare from a giant, white gorilla-like monster. Rainbow Dash yelped as she leaps into the air, onto a roof, while the monster climbed after her. Rainbow Dash quickly packed together a snowball and threw it at the monster. The monster looked at Rainbow Dash with a scowl, before its frown turns into a grin as it scooped together a giant snowball and threw it at the pegasus. Rainbow Dash poked her head out, to see the gorilla laughing, while pointing its toes at her.
"Oh yeah!" Rainbow Dash shouted, throwing another snowball at the monster.
Eventually, the two were engaged in a snowball fight, to which the ponies took notice, and dropped their shovels to join in the fight.
The monster throw another snowball at Rainbow Dash, who batted it away with an icicle. She reached out for another snowball, but accidentally took off one of the ponies's head. Rainbow Dash quickly took noticed when she looked at the head in bewilderment.
"Hello!" the head greeted, to which Rainbow Dash dropped with a yelp. "Ow!"
"Uh...sorry," Rainbow Dash apologized, hesitantly.
"No worries. Nothing a snow pony," the head replied. "Except maybe get his head back on his body?"
Rainbow turned to see the headless body stumbling around, pelted by snowballs, before bumping into a wall. Grabbing the head by its horn, Rainbow Dash placed it back onto the body.
"Thank you," the snow pony thanked, before it got hit by another snowball. The gorilla from before, laughing and clapping its hands together, and blowing a raspberry at the two.
Rainbow Dash and the snow pony turned to each other, before looking back at the monster with snowballs in their hooves, with the monster doing the same. The three charged at each other, until a voice broke out.
"STOP!!" a flash of red lights erupted, causing every pony to turn their attention to Rudolph with a stern look on his face.
All of the snow ponies looked at the reindeer, before they parted, pointing hooves at the monster and Rainbow Dash, and saying, "They started it!"
"I can explain," Rainbow Dash smiled sheepishly with the monster doing the same.
8:19 PM
After the snow ponies got back to plowing through the snows, Rudolph had a talk with Rainbow Dash and the monster.
"Well Rainbow Dash," Rudolph said. "I see you've been acquainted with our yeti friend, Snowball."
"Snowball?" Rainbow asked, turning to the yeti. "I can see two reasons why they call you that."
Snowball snorted in agreement, before Rudolph continued, "Still, we're on a very important mission here! Tonight's Christmas Eve and we've got only...." Rudolph turned to a clock that reads, "3 hours and 41 minutes until midnight! Do you know how crucial it is that we find Santa ASAP?!"
Rainbow Dash and Snowball both looked down in shame, answering, "You're right, Rudolph. We're sorry."
Snowball grunted in agreement.
Seeing the two have learned their lessons, Rudolph sighed, "Well, now that that's over. Let's get back to digging Hearth's Warming Town out, defrosting dad, and find Santa," Rudolph looked out the window to see the snow ponies, and some yetis that have arrived to help, continue their digging and grimaced. "Though even with the snow ponies' and some of Snowball's friends, we just may not find dad in time."
Rainbow looked up again, answering with confidence, "Then leave it to me!"
Rainbow Dash spun herself into a tornado, vacuuming all of the snows up. She looked down to see the snow ponies and yetis picking up some ice blocks, before carrying them away to a building with smokes billowing out the chimney. Rudolph was at work, keeping the fire running, with his nose, and a magnifying glass to magnify the heat of his light. Snowball and some of his yeti friends all cleared the streets in ten seconds flat, throwing them all into Rainbow Dash's tornado, who quickly discarded them elsewhere, away from the town.
At last, everyone in Hearth's Warming Town were thawed out. Rainbow Dash returned, exhausted, sitting down on a comfy chair, before being offered a hot chocolate by a monkey, with thick furs that made it looked like it was wearing an overcoat and a beard, with its pink face exposed.
"Thank you," Rainbow gratefully accepted the cup and took a satisfying drink, looking around to see the whole room, crowded with yetis, snow ponies, snow monkeys, and reindeers.
"Rainbow Dash!" Rudolph called out.
Rainbow Dash looked to see standing next to Rudolph, is another reindeer, taller than him with bigger antlers.
"Hey Rudolph!" Rainbow replied, before turning to the older reindeer. "Is this...?"
"Blitzen?" the older reindeer answered. "Indeed I am," Blitzen then bowed his head. "And it's an honor to meet you, Rainbow Dash."
"Feeling's mutual, sir," Rainbow returned the greeting, before looking up with a serious look. "So, your son here told me that Santa was kidnapped and you know who took them."
Blitzen's closed his eyes as the event flashed back into his mind.
"Yes," he answered grimly. "I do,"
"Can you tell us what happened?"
Blitzen sighed as he sat down, recalling the events.
Meanwhile, in a cave, deep in a dark chasm, a tall, dark, lumbering creature was emerging from its lair. It eyes glowed red as made its way out of the chasm, before stopping to see the remains of a hot air balloon. It stopped in its track, sniffing the remains, before it growls.
"Pony......" it growled, resuming its trip out of the chasm. "Some pony's in trouble.....tonight...."
How Rainbow Dash Saved Hearth's Warming
The filly, the falcon, and the windigos
8:30 PM Dec. 24
A red hot air balloon flew into the North Pole. Its pilot poked its head from the basket, revealing itself to be none other but Scootaloo, who is covered from head to hooves with padded plates, a red scarf, her scooter helmet, a hockey mask, and a hockey stick sticking out of her saddlebags.
"Leave it to Pinkie Pie to have an instant Hot Air Balloon Kit stashed under my bed," Scootaloo explained. "I may not be good at steering or flying a hot air balloon. But this is for Rainbow Dash!" Scootaloo then turned her head to a falcon that was perching next to her. "We're gonna be a big help to her and every pony, right Hayabusa?"
The falcon screeched in agreement. Hayabusa was a falcon Scootaloo had met a while back, during a trip she took with Rainbow Dash to Griffonstone. He was simply passing by, when he was caught in the middle of a scuffle between two griffons in the air that resulted a broken wing. Luckily, Scootaloo was able to catch the falcon, saving it from a nasty fall. Since then, the little filly had been caring for the bird up until its wing got better, during which the two formed a close bond together. Then it was time when Scootaloo had to set him free, only to her and Rainbow Dash's surprise, the falcon didn't want to leave her. The falcon since has been living in Ponyville, under Fluttershy's care and as a friendly neighbor to Scootaloo. Rainbow Dash and Scootaloo were even more surprised to learn from Fluttershy that Hayabusa was in fact the same falcon that Rainbow Dash had picked Tank over.
As the two rode onward in the balloon, a strong wind blew in, shaking them uneasily. The two held on as another gust of wind blew the balloon even more violently. Scootaloo tried to hold on, but the basket tipped and she nearly fell out, had Hayabusa not grabbed her by the tail.
"Whew," Scootaloo gasped. "Thanks Haya!" The falcon's eyes widen in fear, screeching frantically, pointing its wings which Scootaloo followed and screamed as the balloon was heading towards a sharp tree branch sticking out of a cliff. Scootaloo veered hard on the right, but too late. The balloon deflated rapidly as a giant hole was starting to form in its skin. Before long, the balloon was now hanging on the branch, with Scootaloo holding onto the basket for dear life. Scootaloo looked down and started to feel dizzy, seeing the darkness of the huge chasm beneath her. Scootaloo screamed as she closed her eyes and started to panic. Seeing the little filly in a frighten state, Hayabusa jumped on her shoulder, screeching lightly in her ear, causing her to look at him in the eyes.
Getting the message, Scootaloo's frightened gaze shifted into determination, "You're right!" She said. "I can't turn chicken now! Rainbow Dash needs me!"
Scootaloo carefully grab ahold of the ropes as she pulls herself up. Suddenly, a gust of wind blew, and the branch snapped slightly, causing the balloon to jerk a little, resulting in a yelp from Scootaloo. Hayabusa flapped his wings as he flew to the top of the cliff and held onto the balloon's remains, while keeping a strong grip on the branch with his claws. Feeling the ropes more stabled than before, Scootaloo resumes with her climb, until she reaches the branch Haya was perching on. The branch jerked again as Scootaloo grabbed ahold of it, Haya struggling to keep the balloon from falling, before he opens his eyes to see Scootaloo making it to the top of the cliff. Knowing his friend is safe and sound, Haya released the balloon's remains, sending the whole thing tumbling down into the chasm beneath, before flying back up.
"Phew! My life flashed before my eyes," Scootaloo sighed. "Thanks again, Haya." she said, awarding the falcon with a pack of meat, from her saddlebags.
Haya screeched lightly, as if to say "You're welcome," while accepting his treat.
With that, the two begin their search for Rainbow Dash.
8:55 PM
The two of them hadn't gone very far, considering how they had to battle their way through the violet, blinding wind of the blizzard.
"G-g-got to f-f-f-find Rainbow Dash," Scootaloo shivered, struggling her way through the snows.
Using his keen sense of vision, Haya spotted a large rock nearby, shaped like a raven, with small cave hidden beneath its wing. Without hesitation, Haya screeched loudly as he grabs Scootaloo by the scarf, pulling her towards the cave. Once they reached sheltered, Scootaloo pulled out some sticks, cottons, and rocks from her saddlebag, and with a trick she once learned from Rainbow Dash on one of their camping trips, she clicked the rocks together, sparking a fire. Scootaloo reaches into her saddle bags, pulling out a thick blanket, courtesy of Pinkie Pie, wrapping herself in the thick fabric, warming herself as she did so, with Haya perching under the blanket, sharing the warmth with her.
"T-T-Thanks again, H-H-Haya," Scootaloo shivered. "D-D-D-Don't know w-what I'd do w-w-w-w-without you."
During their stay, Scootaloo and Haya both took the time to have a meal together, with Scootaloo having some of Pinkie Pie's cupcakes, apples from the Apple Families, and a cup of hot cocoa, while Haya was enjoying a piece of meat that Scootaloo had brought with them. Anypony would be surprised with how much a pony can pack in a saddlebag that is a product of Pinkie Pie herself.
It was at least about half an hour when the winds died down, and the clouds dissipated as the Luna's sky came into view. Scootaloo emerged from the cave, breathing a sigh of relief.
"Glad that's over," she said.
Haya looked up and screeched in amazement. Curious to what he was screeching at, Scootaloo looked up and her expression was the exact same with the falcon's.
Above them, shimmering in their own natural beauty, are the Northern Lights.
"Wow!" Scootaloo gasped in amazement. "They're so beautiful."
Hayabusa screeched in agreement.
Scootaloo and Haya gazed at the Northern Light for what felt like hours, before Scootaloo quickly snapped out of her daze.
"Okay, Haya," Scootaloo began. "We need to find Rainbow Dash and save Hearth's Warming. You go high, and I'll go low. We'll cover more grounds that way."
The falcon nodded as it leaped into the air, flying away, disappearing out of sight, leaving the little filly alone in the snows.
After Hayabusa left, Scootaloo began her search around in the snow field she was in. Reaching into her saddlebags, Scootaloo pulled out a pair of binoculars and looked through them.
'Wow,' Scootaloo thought, gazing at the snows, the trees, and most of all, the northern lights. 'The North Pole sure looks different when it's not so stormy and dangerous.' Scootaloo snapped out of her thoughts, putting the binoculars back in, as she continues looking for Rainbow Dash.
'Hang on Rainbow Dash,' Scootaloo thought. 'I'm coming.'
Hayabusa, meanwhile, was soaring through the sky above the North Pole on his part of the search. After much flying over many miles away from Scootaloo, he was about to fly back to the filly when he noticed a cluster of lights in the distance. Curious, Haya decided to fly in for a closer look, and was met with an astonishing sight of a large town, decorated with themes of Hearth's Warming, inhabited with reindeers, snow ponies, snow monkeys, and some yetis. Without a doubt, Haya knows for certain this is Hearth's Warming Town, where Rudolph and Santa Hooves live, meaning Rainbow Dash shouldn't be too far. With that, Haya perched on a window sill before he flew to another, searching for the cyan pegasus.
Meanwhile, out in the snow field, near the raven shaped rock, a shadow was looming over a track of hoof prints left behind by Scootaloo. The tall figure placed its hand in the snow, lowering its head, sniffing the tracks. It looked up to see more tracks from the filly, heading further into the distance and into a huge forest of pine trees.
9:36 PM
After awhile of searching, Hayabusa was disappointed that he was unsuccessful in locating Rainbow Dash. Though, he did found out too late that Rainbow Dash had already left with Rudolph and a yeti named Snowball to a place called the Northern Mountain. With that piece of information as his lead, Haya took off into the air, trying to find where this Northern Mountain is. He hadn't gone very far, when he heard Scootaloo's scream. Sensing the little filly in danger, the falcon hones in his senses toward the source of the scream, before he dives down towards a huge forest.
Scootaloo was in a dark forest, with her flashlight on. She looked and thought she saw the silhouette of a pony's tail.
"Rainbow Dash?" Scootaloo shouted. "Rainbow Dash?"
Suddenly, she heard a loud snarl, accompanied by a pair of glowing yellow eyes. Flashing her flashlight, Scootaloo was met by a pair of hungry arctic wolves, licking their chops at the sight of a little filly. Wasting no time, Scootaloo broke into a gallop, with the wolves in pursuit. The wolves snapped their jaws, closing in on her. A wolf pounced forward, but Scootaloo ducked her head down, causing the wolf to fly overhead and crash into a tree. Scootaloo quickly dove further into the forest, hoping to lose the wild dogs there. Only instead, to be met with more arctic wolves, as they all barked and snapped at her. Scootaloo screamed as she made a sharp turn around a tree.
Scootaloo continued running for dear life, until she tripped on a tree root and fell face first into the snow. Before she had the chance to get up, the wolves caught up to her, and their leader jumped on top, pressing her head down with its paws. Suddenly, an earsplitting screech was heard. Scootaloo opened her eyes to see Hayabusa flapping his wings, while furiously scratching his claws, snapping his beak at the wolves.
Undeterred, the wolves snapped their jaws at the bird, swatting it away with their paws. Haya jumped on one of the wolf's back, pecking it on the head, before another wolf lunged towards him. Luckily, Haya was quick enough to jump out of the way and scratched his claws at another wolf on the back. Haya quickly flaps his wings and became airborne, before he dive-bomb back down, shoving a wolf into another. It wasn't long before Haya was caught by the tail and was dragged to the ground by the wolves. Not waiting to see her friend become dog food, Scootaloo pulled out her hockey stick and swung it hard at one of the wolves. Angered, the wolf snapped its jaw at Scootaloo, seizing the stick, pulling it away, as another jumped on Scootaloo, trying to bite her neck, had it not been for her plated suit, as along with her hockey mask. Just as the wolf succeeded in removing her helmet off, it was snatched up by a hulking beast.
The beast roared in the wolf's face, before tossing it away. Forgetting the filly and falcon, the wolves turned their attention to the monster. The wolves all piled onto the creature, sinking their fangs into its skin, as the creature fought back, ramming its head into some trees, rolling in the snows, forcing the wolves off. One of the wolves jumped onto its back, clamping its jaws at its horn. The creature roared in agony as it tries to swing the wolf off. Another wolf clamped its jaws on the creature's leg. Having enough, the creature swung its massive tail, knocking some trees down, before it snares the wolf off its head and throws it into its pack, and kicking the wolf on its leg off into a tree. Suddenly, the creature pulled out a whip and with a crack of it, the wolves were all flung off and driven back.
The wolves ran away, while the creature stomped its way toward Scootaloo, grabbing her by the tail. Hayabusa swooped in, trying to save the little filly, only to be caught in midair by the creature. Scootaloo whimpered as the creature held her up to its face. It had the head, horns, and legs of a goat, the tusks of a wild boar, arms and body of a huge gorilla, and tail of a dragon. The creature was also covered in plates of armors, with chains of locks and hooks covering the majority of its builds.
"What are you doing here?" it grunted.
"I-I-I-I'm j-just h-h-here for R-Rainbow Dash," Scootaloo stuttered. "H-H-Have y-you s-s-seen her?"
"What business do you have with Rainbow Dash?"
"I-I-I-I'm h-h-h-here to help her save Hearth's Warming. S-S-Santa H-H-Hooves been kidnapped."
The creature growled as it dropped Scootaloo and Hayabusa to the ground, "This is serious business little filly! Not like one of your video games! Go away! The North Pole is too dangerous for the likes of you! Especially now!"
Suddenly, the creature was surrounded by several glowing icicles, where from both the top and bottom, they began forming a cage around the creature. Then, they heard an eery cackle. The three turned in the direction of the cackle, and there appearing before them in a mist, stood a Windigo.
"Thanks for the distraction, little filly!" the Windigo chortled. "I couldn't have done it, without you."
"BLIZZARD!" the creature bellowed. "You cold-hearted...."
"I'd love to stay and chat, Krampus," the Windigo neighed. "But my brethren are waiting for me, back at the North Mountain, preparing our special night," the Windigo cackled as it floats away, before it turns back to face the demon. "And I'l be sure to give Santa your regards."
Krampus's eyes widened in shock, before it let out a bloodcurdling scream, banging on the bars of the cage with much more aggression.
Author's Note
Super Mario Hoops-Sherbet Land OST. A homage I'm paying to youtuber, MarioMario54321, for his Christmas video: Mario's Christmas Adventure .
Also, the balloon ride Scootaloo was having is a direct homage to A Very Minty Christmas. Though I don't like the movie that much, I was kinda in the mood to pay some respects to the previous generations of MLP.
Let's also give it up to the falcon. The same falcon from May the Best Pet Win. Fun fact: Hayabusa is also the name for the falcon from Disney's Mulan.
How Rainbow Dash Saved Hearth's Warming
10:00 PM
"Those Windigos are gonna get it," Rainbow Dash frowned, as she, Rudolph, and Snowball tracked up the cliffs of the North Mountain.
Earlier That Evening
Santa's helpers had finished constructing a weather controlling machine that stopped the blizzard for the moment, while Blitzen was recalling all the tragedy that befall on him and Santa.
"It all happened so fast," Blitzen began. "I was the first to arrive into Santa's office, when they took him away. Santa fought them off the best he could, but there was only so much he can do before they captured him."
"That's terrible," Rainbow exclaimed. "I know the Windigos love to feed on hatred and stuff, but to kidnap Santa Hooves? Of all the nerves," Rainbow Dash got up on her hooves as she proclaims, "Well, they're not getting away with it. Where are they taking him?"
"The North Mountain," Blitzen replied. "It's one of the most treacherous places in the North Pole. But I'm sure it's where Santa is being held."
"Then that's where I'm going!" Rainbow Dash began to flap her wings and was about to take off, when Blitzen caught her by the tail.
"No Dash!" Blitzen shouted. "You can't risk flying there. If the Windigos spotted you, they'll freeze you before you could reach the top and rescue Santa."
"Well, there has to be somehow to reach the big guy."
Snowball grunted, as Rudolph translated, "Uh, Snowball knows a secret way to the mountain....but-"
Next thing Rainbow Dash knew, she was sliding down through a pipe, with Rudolph and Snowball following. Once she reached the end, Rainbow Dash landed in a pile of garbage.
"Yuck!" Rainbow Dash exclaimed. "I'm doing this for Hearth's Warming?"
Before Rainbow Dash knew it, she was squashed beneath Snowball who had just appeared out of the pipe, followed by Rudolph.
"Rainbow?" Rudolph called. "Where'd you-"
It wasn't long when Rudolph spotted the pony's hoof, banging frantically beneath the yeti.
"Snowball! Get off!" Rudolph shouted, as the arctic gorilla quickly complied. "You okay Rainbow Dash?"
Dazed at first, Rainbow Dash muttered, "C'mon, let's get this over with so I can take a long shower back home."
With that, Rainbow climbs out of the waste and up the mountain, with Rudolph and Snowball following.
Present
"C'mon," Rudolph called, moving a boulder aside, with Snowball and Dash's help.
Once the job is done, the trio looked into the tunnel to see it was completely empty.
"Let's go!" Rainbow said, as the reindeer and yeti followed her.
While doing this, the trio both got into the mood of doing the task, secret spy style.
Rainbow Dash was disguised as an iceberg, Rudolph disguised himself as deer head mount, while Snowball skillfully scales through the ceiling, using the icicles formed on top.
Rainbow Dash at one point was scouting ahead, when some Windigos passed through. Dash quickly shifted into her disguise, just as the ghosts passed over her. Once they're gone, Dash quickly signaled Rudolph and Snowball over.
After many twists and turns around the mountain halls, the trio suddenly fell down a tunnel. Evading several sharp icicles sticking up, along the way. Sharp icicles also started raining down on the trio, as they desperately slid faster, with Rainbow Dash flapping her wings to give them some boosts.
10:05 PM
At last, the trio reached the end, as they flew upward and found themselves inside what appears to be a dungeon.
"Whoa," Rainbow said dizzily, before she regained focus. "Santa?"
"Ho?" a voice called out. "Someone say my name?"
"Santa!" Rudolph cried, as Rainbow and Snowball turned their heads in the reindeer's direction.
There, sitting behind bars, is the jolly pony himself.
"Hang on Santa!" Rudolph exclaimed. "We're here to save you!"
"Oh, bless you all," Santa exclaimed.
The trio went up to the bars, as Rainbow Dash said, "Okay Santa, stand back!"
"Wait, don't!" But too late, the trio went ahead to attack the bars, only to met with a shock.
"It's no use," Santa exclaimed. "These bars are enchanted with dark magic by the Windigos. Nothing will open them, except for the key."
"Where is it?" Rainbow Dash asked.
"Right here," a voice snickered.
There, floating before them, are the Windigos. And their leader, Blizzard, the biggest of all, with a crown at the top of his head, and the key around his neck, blew a wave of snowy mists at the trio. When the mist cleared up, the trio stood before the ghosts, in chain.
"Sorry for not giving you three a warm welcome," Blizzard cackled. "But we can't have any pony, reindeers, or even a bunch of arctic primates ruining our master plan."
"Why did you do this?" Rainbow Dash asked, struggling to break free from the icy chains. "Why'd you kidnap Santa?"
"Why, to ruin Hearth's Warming, of course," Blizzard answered. "We Windigos have always thrived on the negative feelings of fighting and hatred. But because of your heroics and the joyous feel you ponies spread on this accursed holiday, such feelings are hard to find these days. So then, we decided that, if we cannot find any hates, then we just might as well make some."
"And how's kidnapping Santa going to help you Windigos create hate for yourself?"
"Let me elucidate for you, little pony. What happens when you take away a pony, who brings cheers and laughter to all the ponies in the world, and who awards ponies for being nice on Hearth's Warming?" Rainbow Dash thought, until it hit her. "Yes, you see, Rainbow Dash? By removing Santa Hooves, little ponies will not be encouraged to believe in the spirit of Hearth's Warming! In other words, Hearth's Warming is ruined. And when Hearth's Warming is ruined, then the ponies will be miserable. And when ponies are miserable, they will forget to love and there will be nothing left to feel positive for, but to hate. So much, hatred will spread throughout all of Equestria. And soon, the world. And with so much hate to feed off of, we will grow stronger and dominate the world!"
"Not unless, I stop you first!" Rainbow Dash growled, as she at last broke free, and attacked the Windigos, who remained undeterred.
"Foolish pegasus," Blizzard exclaimed, blocking every one of the pegasus's attacks. "You cannot defeat us. To hate us is to give us breath. To fight us is to give us strength. You have no hope of defeating us!"
With that, Blizzard breathed a huge storm of icy winds, blowing Rainbow Dash away, before he pounced on her, holding his hoof down to her throat, as ices slowly began to form from the touch.
Rainbow Dash kicked her legs out, forcing Blizzard off, as she got back up and flapped her wings, only to find that they were frozen.
The windigos all started to surround Rainbow Dash, trapping her in a vortex of snow. Looking around for a way to escape, Rainbow Dash quickly digs into the snow and burrowed her way out. The windigos stopped and advanced upon her again.
Blizzard flew after Rainbow Dash again, as the pegasus struggled to fly away.
'I can't let him catch me now!' Dash thought, before remembering her friends' gifts. 'Time to use some help.'
As Dash reached in for her saddlebags, her hoof only met air; her saddlebags are gone.
'What the!' Dash thought incredulously, before she was captured, by Blizzard, by her hoof. Rainbow Dash screamed in agony as ice began to form from her hoof, and it began to spread around on her arm. Dash tried to break free, but the other Windigos joined in as they all piled on top of Rainbow Dash, freezing her into an icy prism.
"Pony fool!" Blizzard laughed. "I see that I must show you, who is truly master of this domain."
With that, an ice sculpture, in the shape of a cross, rose out of the ground and Rainbow Dash was chained to it. Rudolph and Snowball tried to save Rainbow Dash, but they were soon captured by the other Windigos, and were thrown in prison with Santa.
Blizzard flew up to the pegasus face, as he smirked, "Seeing as how desperate you are to saving your friends and family, you shall be rewarded. We are honored to grant you a front row seat, to watch as we destroy everything you've fought so hard to save."
With that, the Windigos all flew around a giant crystal, chanting a latin language, conjuring up a huge storm.
"NO!!" Rainbow Dash screamed, struggling to break free, but to no avail.
How Rainbow Dash Saved Hearth's Warming
Deep below the North Mountain, a certain little orange pegasus filly we all know and love was running through the underground tunnels of the mountain.
'Imagine me,' Scootaloo thought. 'Krampus's little helper.'
Earlier
After Blizzard had left, Scootaloo and Hayabusa were left with Krampus, who continues to pound the bars in futile.
"Krampus?" Scootaloo called. "Are you okay?"
The christmas demon let out a snarl as he glared at the filly.
"Let me rephrase that," Scootaloo whimpered. "What can I do?"
"You've done plenty!" Krampus roared. "You've got me trapped! And put Santa Hooves and your sister in mortal danger!"
"What?!" Scootaloo looked in bewilderment.
Kramps grunted as he explains, "The Windigos have always been plotting their revenge since the very first, Hearth's Warming. But the cursed storm spirits could never unleash their master plan, until now! Rudolph had informed me today of Santa Hooves's disappearance. I knew who was behind it all, so I gathered my snow globes, my snow whip, and my trap bag, and I headed for the top of the North Mountain, where Santa is being."
Scootaloo looked up, and sure enough, she saw the silhouette of a tall mountain, with its top, twisted to form the face of a demonic horse.
"But now I'm trapped!" Krampus continued. "And without my help, the Windigoes will succeed in their plan to destroy Hearth's Warming and Santa!"
With a look of determination, Scootaloo went over and picked up the gears in the snow.
"What are you doing?"
"You got trapped because of me," Scootaloo explained. "And you can't help Santa, because of me. But I can take your gears to the top of the mountain."
Krampus shook his head, "You can't make it own your own!" he grunted. "A little filly like you stand no chance of climbing up the North Mountain to the top. Even if you can fly, you'll never get pass the Windigos! They'll freeze you out of the sky, before you can reach Santa! The only way to get to the top of the mountain, undetected, is to take the Icicle Catacombs, where a hidden stairway is located."
"Then that's what I'll do!" Scootaloo exclaimed.
"You'll never survive!" Krampus muttered. "It's a giant maze in there! Too many twists and turns. It's treacherous, no one, reindeer, pony, or demon, have ever gone into that place and come out alive, even I wouldn't dare to enter there!" Krampus closed his eyes as he muttered, "We're all doomed."
Scootaloo looked down in shame. She came all the way to help Rainbow Dash, only to stop someone who could've been a big help in Rainbow Dash's heroic efforts to save Hearth's Warming.
With a newfound strength of determination, Scootaloo looked up and answered, "It's a chance I've got to take! For Hearth's Warming!"
Krampus looked at the little filly, before muttering, "If there is even one this year."
Scootaloo kept on running through the catacombs, with her flashlight lighting the way.
'Too bad Haya's not a bat,' Scootaloo groaned. 'This would've been a lot easier. Speaking of, I hope Haya's having better luck on his part.'
The falcon meanwhile was circling around the mountain, hoping to find another way into the North Mountain, undetected. The Windigos that were patrolling the top of the mountain paid no mind to the falcon at first, since he appeared nothing more than a tiny dot from their perspective. However, knowing he is not a falcon native to the North Pole, Haya couldn't risk coming closer and draw unwanted attentions. Unable to meet with success by circling near the top, Haya went further downward.
Suddenly, he noticed something glistening. Curious, he flew down for a closer look to see it was a shining blanket, sticking out of a saddlebag. Recognizing the Wonderbolts' pin attached on the strap, Haya quickly knew it belongs to Rainbow Dash. Seeing it lying in the pit, Haya knew Rainbow Dash isn't too far. As he scanned the area, he happened upon a faint trail of foot prints, imprinted on a path that lead up the mountain and into a cavern, slightly concealed by a boulder. Seeing that there's nothing else he could do for the moment, Hayabusa simply picked the saddlebags up by the straps before he flew away.
Back to Scootaloo, the little filly was still navigating her way through the darkness of the catacombs. She had already came across several dead ends, and one of them was a wall of sharp icicles.
As Scootaloo walked cautiously down in the tunnels of the catacomb, she waved her flashlight forward and was startled a the sight of a giant fish, gaping its sharp fangs at her. She calmed herself a little upon realizing it's frozen. She turned around and screamed even louder at the sight of a giant sea monster, with the head of a crocodile, neck of a snake, and the body of what looked like a sea turtle, frozen and glaring at her. Soon enough, Scootaloo began seeing more frozen, bizarre, sea creatures around her.
'Wow,' she muttered. 'Makes me wonder if this ever was an aquarium once.'
Suddenly, she heard a scream. Turning her head in the direction of the sound, Scootaloo proceed with caution, as the sound grew louder with each steps she took, until finally she could hear the sound clearer.
"Rainbow Dash!" Scootaloo exclaimed, hearing the battle taking place, followed by the sound of the Windigos. "Hang on Rainbow Dash! I'm coming!"
With her fear of the darkness disappeared, and with her determination renewed, Scootaloo galloped faster as her little hooves can carry, before she screeched to a stop. Before her was a huge pit, littered with bones of the poor unfortunate souls who were lost in the catacombs. The only way across, was a narrow, icy bridge that looked to treacherous to cross. Frightened at first, Scootaloo shook it off as she knew Rainbow Dash is in deep trouble and she needs her help. Mustering up her courage, Scootaloo carefully walked across the bridge, being careful not to slide off. Suddenly, the bridge began to crack, and Scootaloo nearly fell off, had she not leaped off at the last second. Fluttering her wings, Scootaloo had a moment to glide across and reach the other side, safely.
The rest of the trips through the catacombs wasn't easy, as Scootaloo jumped into another tunnel and found herself sliding down. At first it was fun, up until Scootaloo saw ahead, was a pit of sharp icicles sticking up from the ground. Thinking fast, Scootaloo pulled out her hockey stick, and using the club's end, she plunged the stick into the slide, slowing her fall until she came to a complete stop. After carefully reaching the other side of the pit, Scootaloo was on her way, until she came across three more tunnels.
"Which way?" Scootaloo thought.
"NO!!!" Rainbow Dash's scream echoed again.
Scootaloo turned her head in the direction the scream came from and raced into the tunnel. Upon coming out the other end, Scootaloo gasped in a mixture of shock and joy to see a huge staircase, made of ice, leading up to the top of the mountain.
"Rainbow Dash! Here I come!" Scootaloo shouted.
