Tidal Wave x Red Heart

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

Tidal Wave, a stallion with aqua blue fur, brown eyes and a black mane and tail, had been working hard on his career. His skills as a doctor matched that of 10 or even 15 experienced doctors. Though when it came to his work, he'd have a few of the stallions, mostly older than him, hound at him for stealing their work and how they feel like their going to lose their jobs and careers. Tidal Wave was trying to reassure them that he has no intention of trying to rob anypony of their jobs or their professional career. They were skeptic at first when he was only starting out, but during the past 3 months after a certain fight, however, they slowly began to acknowledge that he truly was sincere about what he said.

At home, there wasn't much to do other than just enjoy a decent meal and sleep until it was time to go back to work again, but when he had some spare freetime, he'd usually play the piano, which he bought at a local music store months ago. There was something about playing the piano that made Tidal Wave feel more at ease and it helped calm his nerves after a stressful day. Other times, he'd go out on a date with Nurse Red Heart, treating her to a nice dinner at the Ponyville Cafe. She wasn't too into fancy and expensive restaurants, but the Ponyville Cafe was good enough for her.

During the months the two spent with each other, Nurse Red Heart had started to wonder why out of all the mares in Ponyville, since Ponyville has a population of 80% female, Tidal Wave chose to be in a relationship with her. At first, she was a bit perplexed about his ambitions on becoming a doctor, especially when she had doubts considering how young he looked. But the more she got to know more about Tidal Wave, the more her feelings for him started to make themselves known. As far as she could tell, she really loved him, not just because he had some unique skills with his piano or unique skills in the medical field, but because of his charming personality and how we was always looking on the bright side of life and appreciating it, bringing happiness and joy to the sick and the healthy, sort of like a familiar pink earth pony, but his mind is always about logic.

--

It was a normal Tuesday in Ponyville and Tidal Wave was given one day off by order of the hospital, after removing a tumor from a stallion and saving his life. He was sitting near the corner of the room, playing his piano. Every now and then he'd glance outside the window admiring the beautiful sunny weather. He continued to play some relaxing piano music for a good 5 minutes until he unexpectedly heard a knock on his bedroom door. He got up from his chair and walked towards the door and opened it, revealing his pal, Eternal Flames a stallion with white fur, sapphire eyes, and red mane.

"What brings you here, buddy boy?" Tidal asked.

"There's somepony at the door, they want to talk to you." Eternal replied.

"WHAT'S TAKING YOU SO LONG TO GRAB ME A SIMPLE CUP OF WATER?!" shouted a female voice from Eternal's room.

"Sunset having her mood swings again?" Tidal asked.

"Yeah, but just thought I'd-" Eternal gets cut off by Sunset still shouting.

"DO I HAVE TO DO EVERYTHING ON MY OWN?!" Sunset shouted.

"I'm getting it already, just calm the hell down!" Eternal shouted back.

"WATCH THAT TONE OF YOURS!" Sunset replied.

Tidal Wave decided to go downstairs to see who was at the door with Eternal following him close behind, but Eternal made a quick dash to the kitchen while Tidal Wave approached the front door to see Nurse Red Heart.

"What brings you here, today, sweetheart?" Tidal asked.

"Listen, I was wondering if we could take a little walk around town and maybe chat for a little bit." She asked

"Sure, I've got the rest of the day off anyways." Tidal says. He walks out of the house, closes the door behind him, and then heads out to Ponyville with his lover.

"Tidal Wave, did you ever have any other careers you wanted to pursue when you were young? I'm not saying that you should consider pursuing them right now, I'm just asking if you had any while growing up?" Red Heart asked.

"Actually, there was a total of 3 careers I wanted to pursue. It was either being a pianist at a local restaurant, becoming a defense attorney, or becoming a doctor, so you can guess which one I chose out of all of them." Tidal explains.

"So how come out of those 3 careers, you chose to be a doctor?" she asks.

"Well, at first, being a pianist at a local restaurant would be nice, but if I did that, I wouldn't be able to clear my mind when I'm alone since playing the piano is only a hobby of mine." he explains.

"I see."

"As for being a defense attorney, naturally, I got my degree in law school with my pal, Eternal Flames, who wanted to study a bit on Equestrian law in case he was going to become a prosecutor. But as you can see, neither of us became those."

"Wait, you went to law school AND med school?"

"Yes, I did, but that was when I was starting out as a teenager. I'm not trying to sound like I'm bragging or something like that, I just had a strict childhood with my parents. Even my sister was treated the same."

"What's your sister's name?"

"Her name is Rain Drop. She's a year younger than me, but she's quite gifted. She took up the career as a defense attorney, so I decided that it was only fitting that I start a career which involved helping others get a second chance at life. So in the end, since my sister had become a defense attorney, I had decided to become a doctor."

"That's so sweet. You and your sister must've been pretty close." Red Heart smiled warmly.

"Perhaps, but she can be competitive when it came to studying for exams. She always wanted to be the top student in her classes, but naturally, she's had her fair share of wins."

"How many?" chuckled Red Heart.

"A total of 4 out of 10." Tidal chuckled.

"Well at least it's something for her to be proud of." Red Heart chuckled.

"By the way, how come I never met your parents? Are they out on business or are they retired?" Tidal Wave asked

"Oh, well, you see..." Nurse Red Heart paused for a moment and looked down with a sad look. "My parents passed away sometime ago when I was barely making a name for myself as a nurse. They died in a fire. The fire ponies tried to save them, but the flames were bursting out of control for them to even get near their house." She explains.

"Oh dear. I'm dreadfully sorry, Red Heart. I didn't know." Tidal Wave says, holding her close to him.

"It's alright, you didn't mean any harm when you asked me." she says, looking up at Tidal with a smile. "But, you know, I have a feeling that if they were still here, they'd really take a liking to you."

"Same can be said for my parents as well. They're still alive, they just live far away. But, no matter the distance, I just know my parents would welcome you into the family with open hooves." he explains.

Red Heart then hugged Tidal Wave after making her feel better. "I love you, Tidal Wave. If I hadn't met you, I'd probably be working my flank off as a nurse, never knowing what true love is like."

"I love you, too, my sweet." Tidal then hugged her back. "Say, do you think that maybe later on tonight, we can meet over by the fountain over in town square? There's something I want to show you."

"Sure. But, I want to spend a little more time with you right now, is that okay?" she asks. "The work has reallly been stressing me out and I could use a break."

"Sure, we still got some time to kill. So shall we keep walking around town, or are you interested in just getting a quick bite to eat, because lunch time is almost over."

"Sure, I could go for a nice, tasty meal. Can we stop by the Hay Burger?"

"Of course, let's just hope Twilight's not stuffing her face silly like she usually does."

Both ponies began laughing at what he just said.

"She can be quite the little piggy, that's for sure." Red Heart says.

The two ponies then headed over to the Hay Burger, and luckily, Twilight wasn't there, stuffing her cute little face, which was a relief for the them and some of the others who were enjoying their meals. Tidal Wave had paid the cashier and the two took their seat next to the window.

"I'm surprised to see that the princess of friendship isn't here all that much." Red Heart says.

"Well, ever since Heat Wave proposed to her, she's been eating nothing but his delicious home cooked meals. He and his brother both learned how to cook, thanks to a little coaching from Hurricane Blitz." Tidal explained.

"That's so sweet. I never realized the prince's younger brother could be such a sweetheart. If I didn't know any better, I'd say those two were made for each other." she says.

"You couldn't be more right than that." he says, chuckling.

"What about your other friend, Hurricane Blitz? Does he have a special somepony?" she asks.

"Why, yes he does and to top it off, he proposed to her a couple of days ago. Her name is Fluttershy."

"Aww, that sweet little pegasus who cares for animals? He must be so lucky."

"You have no idea. So far, practically almost all of my pals are engaged to be married." he says happily.

"This sure is a big step in their lives." she replies.

"Yes, but I have a feeling that when they're about to have kids, they're gonna give us a hard run for our money. But that probably won't happen for another year or two." Tidal explains

"Ugh, I don't even want to think about it now." Red Heart says, making both of them laugh.

After chatting for a while, they decided to keep eating to avoid their food getting cold. After finishing their food, the two headed back to their houses to wait until they could meet up again at the fountain. During that time, Tidal Wave would try something he's never done before, which was reading his medical books, so he wouldn't have to worry about slacking off at work, while at the same time, he played some relaxing piano music.

Red Heart was at her house just drinking some tea to ease her nerves and stretching to relieve her muscles after walking around town for quite a while. She usually did this after a long day at work as well. After that was done, she'd grab one of her own medical books, flipping through the pages so she could stay on top of her A Game. Reading was also a way of helping her relax and think more about the positives in her life, which had happened ever since Tidal Wave showed up.

After a few hours, Tidal Wave was able to arrive at the fountain first. He was sitting on the edge, admiring the night sky as it glistens and glows with every passing second while he kept a certain box close to him. Red Heart had arrived shortly after Tidal Wave and was about to find out the answer as to why he called her out here at such a late hour.

"So what is it you wanted to talk to me about?" Red Heart asked. Tidal Wave got close to her, smiled, and revealed inside the box a beautiful golden crown befitting a princess.

"Red Heart, you've made me the happiest stallion alive. You not only allowed me to become a doctor, but you allowed me to experience was true love was all about. So now, I only have one question for you that I feel is now the perfect time to ask you." Tidal Wave explains, making Red Heart gasp happily with tears in her eyes. Tidal Wave then got down and kneeled to the mare with a pink bun. "Red Heart, will you do me the honor of becoming my bride?"

"YES, OF COURSE!!!" Red Heart shouted. Tidal Wave then placed the crown upon her head and soon the two lovestruck ponies joined together in a loving and passionate kiss. "Although, can we get married in say, 4 months?" she asks after breaking the kiss.

"Anything for you, my darling." Tidal Wave replies warmly.
