Redemption:The Final Phase-A Day of Yoga
Early the next morning, Lightning Dust woke up, and put on some exercise clothes. She put on a forest green T shirt, and teal capri style exercise pants. After putting on her sneakers, she leaves a note for her mom, and walked out the door.
She went to the address Sunset sent to her. Lightning looks at the address. “429 Starbeam Avenue. This is it.”
Lightning knocks on the door, and was answered by Sunset Shimmer, who wore a long sleeve light blue shirt and blue spandex exercise shorts.
“Morning, Lightning.” Sunset greeted.
“Morning to you too.” Lightning replied. “Why are we meeting in this place?”
“A friend of mine lives here. Come in.”
Lightning follows Sunset into the house. She was amazed by the beauty of the house. Soon, the two girls made their way down to the basement. Waiting for them is a young woman with teal hair, and wearing a red short sleeve shirt and sky blue exercise tights.
“Oh my gosh!” Lightning yelped. “Lotus Blossom. The yoga teacher!”
“That’s right.” Sunset said. “I told her about your situation, and she agreed to help you.”
“You mean, we’re doing a yoga session?”
“That’s right, Lightning Dust.” Lotus Blossom answered. “If yoga helped Sunset and Limestone Pie, it can help you.”
“Sunset, I can understand. But, Limestone too?”
“I’ll explain later. I have spare yoga mats you can use.”
Lightning grabbed a bright yellow mat, unrolled it, took off her sneakers and stepped on her mat. Sunset and Lightning faced their teacher.
“If you’re ready, girls,” Lotus indicated, “let’s begin.”
Sunset and Lotus started doing the Sun Salutation. Lightning nervously followed their example. After the sequence ended, Lotus instructed her students through the poses.
Lightning Dust was a little uneasy through the balancing poses. During a Tree Pose, Lotus gave her some advice. “You don’t have to go all the way, LD. You can go halfway up. Like I told Sunset, respect your body’s limits.”
Hearing the advice, Lightning went halfway through Tree Pose. Sunset was amazed that Lightning went to Warrior Pose variation two. She was very shocked that Lightning bent far for Camel Pose.
Later, after the class, the three girls sat cross legged on their mats.
“You did very good on your first time, Lightning.” Lotus praised. “You were a little nervous when you started. But, you made it through.”
“Thank you, Miss Blossom.” Lightning replied. A thought came in her head. “Didn’t you say that Limestone Pie is doing yoga too?”
“Yes, she did. Sunset can explain.”
Sunset told Lightning the tale. “Limestone came into my favorite coffee place, and told me and my friends that she was getting gruff from her father.”
“I thought Limestone is Igneous Rock Pie’s hardest worker.” Lightning wondered.
“True. I told her about how yoga helped me through MY tough spots. So, I figured it can help her too.”
“Wow! When does Limestone come to the yoga class?”
“She takes my evening class.” Lotus answered. “A good way to wind down before bedtime.”
The yoga teacher then turns to Sunset. “Sunset, How about taking Lightning to the woods outside the house. And, take the mats with you.”
Sunset nodded. “That’s a good idea.”
Lightning and Sunset took their mats and made their way to a clearing in the woods. They unrolled the mats, took off their sneakers, and sat cross legged. They both admired the view.
“How did you get involved with yoga anyway?” Lightning Dust asked.
Sunset gave her an amazing story. “Remember when you bad mouthed me about my nightmarish past?”
“I do. I’m starting to regret it.”
“I was very upset about that. Then, Wallflower Blush came by. She heard about my situation, and suggested that yoga can help me.”
Lightning was very surprised. “Wallflower Blush? Really?”
“That’s right.” Sunset answered. “She invited me to Lotus Blossom’s house, and the teacher lead us through the session. I’ve been keeping up with yoga since.”
“Oh my.” Lightning said. “No wonder you’ve been doing well these days.”
“That’s not all. Lotus Blossom invited me to this very area for a meditation period.”
“That’s why we’re out here?”
“That’s right. This forest is a great place to meditate.”
Lightning Dust looks around and is impressed. A flowing stream, a gentle breeze, sounds of birds and frogs, and the peace and quiet.
“No wonder.” Lightning figured. “It’s so beautiful out here.”
Sitting cross legged, the two girls slowly closed their eyes, and enjoyed the quiet atmosphere. The next day, Twilight and her friends were hanging out at her house. Her mother, Twilight Velvet, came into the room. “Twilight, dear. Lightning Dust would like to see you.”
“Sure, mom.” Twilight replied.
Lightning Dust came into the room. All seven girls are happy to see her.
“Thanks for all of you help, girls.” Lightning said.
“It was our pleasure.” Twilight replied. “I hope this week has been very helpful.”
“It sure was. I feel like a new person.”
Rainbow Dash approached her fellow soccer player. “I don’t think Spitfire will kick you out now.”
“You’re right.” Lightning said happily. “And also, I got a job this summer.”
“You? Really?” Rarity gasped. “Where are you working?”
“At the diner Pinkie works. I start on the Monday after school is out for the summer.”
Everybody cheered as Pinkie gave Lightning a hug. “We’re going to be workmates.”
“Congratulations, Lightning Dust.” Applejack cheered. “The day at the farm opened your eyes to hard work. Didn’t it?”
“It sure did.” LD answered. “I’m glad to have weekends off. That’s when people pack the soccer field.”
“You’re right.” Rainbow said. “Our team is getting ready for the season.”
“And, with everything I’ve been through, my recklessness is over.”
“That would be good.” Fluttershy said.
Sunset Shimmer nodded. “Everyone on the team will be impressed with you, LD.”
The girls continued to talk happily with Lightning Dust. When school was back in session, Spitfire and her team gathered for practice.
“We got to get ready for the upcoming season.” Spitfire called out. “Especially you, Lightning Dust. Let’s hope your week of redemption pays off.”
“Don’t worry, ma’am.” Lightning replied. “No more trouble from me.”
As the team readies for practice, Trixie watches from a distance.
I wish you the best of luck. Trixie thought. Hopefully Spitfire will be proud of you.
THE END
Author's Note
This is the final chapter of my story of Lightning Dust curbing her recklessness. And, it brings back info on a story I did about Sunset’s involvement with yoga.
