The conflict, while relatively petty, had been sparked by their spontaneous plans for that evening. Gear rolled her eyes and loped off towards the bedroom. She really had no room to complain, since she’d lost their impromptu competition, yet she wasn’t exactly thrilled with being dragged around in what was doubtlessly some slatternly outfit. The siren was renowned for wearing painfully tight or revealing garments, so there was no telling how whorish she’d end up looking.

Walking to their mattress and kneeling by its side, she blindly fumbled under the bed frame. Sure enough, after pawing around for a moment, she found what she was looking for. Pulling out the parcel, she removed the cardboard lid and peered inside; what she found was not what she’d been expecting.

Pulling into the car park, Aria found a space and parked the vehicle.

“So,” she began, unbuckling her seat belt, “anywhere you want to go, Baby?”

Gear shrugged, unfastening herself and opening the door. “Not really, besides that jewelry store you’d mentioned. Maybe we could get some iced tea?”

Strutting around the front of the car, the siren moved to Gear’s side. Reaching out and grabbing her mate’s hand, she smiled. “Sure, anything for you, sweetheart,” she cooed, leaning over and pecking the woman’s cheek.

Instinctively, Gear affectionately grasped her paramour’s hand. There she was, standing in a parking lot, feeling like a filly about to go out on a date. With refreshment in hand, they trotted towards the jewelry shop. Happily munching away at their shared snack, simply enjoying each other’s company, they drifted through the cavernous building.

“There, see!” Aria bleated, scampering over towards a large display window at one of the storefronts.

Catching up with her lover, Gear’s eyes locked onto the small bauble. The golden band, inset with a tiny cabochon of pink coral, wasn’t necessarily designed to be worn on a toe, although she had little doubt it could fit the bill. Seeing herself inside, without a second glance, she reached for her pocket and froze.

Unfortunately, she’d completely forgotten to bring her wallet along with herself; it was probably still in her pants, but it definitely wasn’t with her. Just as her lip curled in frustration, a pat on her back caused her to turn. Aria flanked her, smoothly produced a card, and pointed to the display.

“That one, size seven please,” the songstress coolly intoned.

The employee nodded, swiftly unlocking a cabinet and fishing within to find one of the rings in her size. Placing it on the counter, he unfolded a decorative gift bag for the purchase. “Anything for your marefriend? We do have some fine couples’ pieces,” he remarked, smiling congenitally up at Gear.

“Do tell!” Aria chirped.

Nodding, the clerk produced a matching pair of pendants. Each held half a heart which, when combined, seamlessly formed a whole. “It’s quite popular and I believe it would look gorgeous on you two.”

“Fuck it, why not,” the siren snickered.

While she hadn’t intended on making an impulsive purchase, having another reminder that she was all but hitched to her lover wouldn’t hurt a damn thing. Paying for the jewelry, lacking any fanfare, she nodded her thanks and took her bag. Gear strolled along behind her, as she walked over to one of the many benches in the central corridor.

Easing herself down beside the songstress, Gear sighed. “You didn’t have to-”

“Shush,” Aria tutted, retrieving the ring and slipping it onto the pinkie toe of her left foot. Once she’d made sure it was seated properly, with the stone facing upwards, she dug into the bag and grabbed the necklaces. “I know I didn’t have to do it, but I wanted to do it,” she explained, unclasping the slender golden chain of one and affixing it around her neck. “Now come here.”

Gear leaned over and reached behind her head, scooping her mane out of the way. As Aria’s hands wrapped around her neck, bringing their faces together, she felt a warmth creeping into her cheeks. As the siren got the necklace in place, she looked up. Their eyes met, their faces drifted closer, and they kissed.

“Now everyone will know you’re mine,” Aria whispered, pulling away and stroking her lover’s cheek.

Damn near swooning, subconsciously pawing for the retreating songstress, Gear was at a loss. Besides being supremely hot, the amorous attention was enough to make her lightheaded. “Alright,” Gear hummed, absentmindedly looking around for the footwear section.

Wandering into the appropriate area, she browsed the various shoes and boots available. There wasn’t a woman’s area in the shop, but that wasn’t an issue.
