Star Wars EQG: Episode 1, Harmony of the Force
Chapter 41
Previous ChapterNext ChapterSunset groaned, as she felt herself beginning to come around.
When she did, she realised she was still inside the castle dungeon. A large black stone room, which was cold and damp. There was a single door that didn't have a window and since the dungeon was underground, no other windows meant no real light was coming through. The whole place was pitch black.
Currently, Sunset was strapped to a stone table. She tried to pull herself free, but she couldn't. And when she looked up at the metal shackles, holding her to the table, she frowned before pulling on them. But the metal refused to give.
She sighed and after a moment, took a deep breath before attempting to open them with The Force. But just as the shackles began to shake, she suddenly felt a horrible jolt rush through her body. "AHHHHH!" She stopped using The Force and the shock stopped, Sunset panting as she groaned.
"I wouldn't try that again." Sunset's eyes widened, as she looked around. The room was so dark, she could barely see a thing.
"Who's there?"
"Nobody," the voice stated, "we're watching you from a control room. And we have orders to shock you, if you try to escape." Sunset frowned, pulling on the shackles again. "Please don't try and do anything. We're supposed to keep you as undamaged as possible."
"Undamaged?" Sunset frowned, as she lay on the table. She thought about what had happened after Sombra had captured her.
When she was locked up, she had heard Sombra say something. "We'll have to wait until she recovers," he had said to someone she couldn't remember. "If we do the ceremony with her in this condition, her body might not survive the process and burn up. We'll need to wait until she's strong enough for her body to survive."
Sunset sighed. The injuries Sombra had given her, might have been the only thing that had kept her alive up to this point. And after she had been locked up, Sunset had tried to contract Twilight. She couldn't remember if she was successful, since Sombra had discovered this and pulled her out of her trance before zapping her once again.
Sunset's entire body felt numb from the abuse she had had to endure. She wanted nothing more than to rest and heal. But if she did that, she would be giving Sombra exactly what she wanted.
As such, she had to figure out a way to get out of there.
"If I can get out of this cell," she whispered to herself. "Maybe I can get to a ship and escape." The only issue was, how was she supposed to escape? Someone, likely a changeling, was clearly watching her. If she tried anything, she would be zapped again and she wanted to take as little damage as possible.
She sighed, praying that Twilight or anyone was making their way to them. If they didn't get there soon, Sunset was doomed.
Back on Canterlot, The Jedi Council had been summoned for an emergency meeting.
Twilight had called her master, the moment she had awakened from her dream and told her everything that she had seen. When Celestia learned about what was going to happen, she jumped into action calling the council. And now, they were discussing what they were going to do.
"We have to stage a rescue mission," Celestia stated.
"This could be a trap," Skybreaker stated. "Sombra could have told Solara to beg Twilight for help. Then, we would fly into a trap so they could capture one of us to use for this ritual."
"Skybreaker's right," another Master agreed. "This is too convenient to be real. Are you saying that after Solara stole all three keys and gave Sombra what he needed, only now is she interested in joining us."
"She didn't ask to join us," Twilight replied from the corner. "She was begging for help. Her spirit is going to be extinguished and her body used to house an Sith Spirit. She wants to escape that fate." The Masters clearly didn't believe that. "I know it's hard to buy, but Sunset wasn't lying. I could feel it. She was telling me the truth."
"Maybe," another Master stated. "But what do you intend to do in order to save her? Many of our forces are still recovering from the attack on Canterlot. An attack, need I remind you, Solara was a part of. We don't have the numbers to wage an all out attack."
"He's right," Skybreaker agreed. "What would you suggest we do then?"
Twilight frowned, clearly not having an idea of how to save Sunset with so few Jedi at their disposal. If this really was the Sith's home base, there were going to be defences and possibly an army of droids and bug troopers defending the place. There was little to nothing they could do in order to fight those kinds of forces with so few Jedi.
"I don't know," Twilight frowned. "But...we have to do something." She gave the Council a serious look. "This Order raised me to help those in need. To respect all life and save anyone who asks me for help." Her fists clutched. "And Sunset asked me for help. If I don't at least try, how am I supposed to be a Jedi."
Celestia smiled and nodded, as Luna chuckled. "Wise words. Ones we all need to follow." She looked around. "Might I remind you of the other reason we were searching for the Sith's base. To save the many prisoners that they have captured and are using as slave labour."
"She's right," Celestia nodded. "And if this connection pulling Twilight to Sunset is our only way to locate their base, then Sunset being sacrificed will likely cut that connection. We might never get another chance like this." The rest of the Council let this info sink in, each one clearly having reservations. "Twilight. Go back to your quarters. You're probably exhausted after last night. You'll need to be well rested if you want to lead us there."
Twilight nodded, the Padawan turning to leave so the Masters could continue their meeting.
As she stepped into the elevator, she sighed and was starting to feel the exhaustion of what had happened. And when the elevator opened up, Twilight found Flash, Shining, Cadance and all her friends waiting for her.
"So?" Trixie asked, "what are they gonna do?"
Twilight sighed. "They're still discussing it. Some of them think it's a trap and don't want to risk falling into it." They made their way through the temple, as everyone frowned.
"They're just sitting around discussing it?" Rainbow asked. "We don't have time for that. They could be sacrificing Sunset right now!" Nobody was arguing. They needed to save Sunset soon or it would be too late.
"So why are we waiting around here?" Flash asked, making everyone stop and turn around. "If time is of the essence, let's just go."
"Flash," Shining frowned, "we can't just go off on our own. The council has to decide whether or not we ship out. If we go against them, it could lead to us getting expelled from the Order."
Flash frowned, only to then smirk. "They have to decide if we go and save Sunset. There's no reason we can't follow Twilight's connection to Sunset. We go there and hide out. That way, if the council does decide that we should save her, we'll be there to jump into action."
The others thought about this and realised he might have a point.
"I'm in," Rainbow smirked.
"Me too," Applejack nodded. Rarity, Fluttershy, Thorax, Iron, Pinkie and Trixie nodded, whilst Twilight seemed unsure about it. They then turned to Shining and Cadance, who also appeared to be considering it.
"I guess there's no harm in checking the place out," Shining nodded. "But we have to be careful about it. We all go in one ship, so it'll be easier to stay hidden. As soon as we get there, we scan the area for a place we can hide. And if we're suddenly attacked, we head back here before they can blow us up. Agreed?
"Agreed," everyone nodded.
"Then let's get going," Shining stated as the Padawans rushed off to gather everything they needed. Once they were gone, Cadance turned to Shining.
"You realise how much trouble we're going to be in. You and I are allowed to do something like this and take our Padawans with us, but the others..."
"Yeah," Shining nodded. "They need their master's permission."
Back in the castle dungeons, Sunset had been unable to keep herself awake.
She had slept for hours and when she dreamt, she found herself dreaming of her siblings. She had been in the castle, in her full Sith getup. She even had her helmet on and as she walked down one of the halls, she heard a hissing voice speak to her.
"Impostor." Sunset stopped and looked around, as a looming figure appeared out of one of the corners. It was the first female clone Sombra had created. The first one named Solara. She was older, around Sunset's age, with her hair the same style as Sunset's.
The girl looked thin and bony, as if she had never had a decent meal in her lifetime. She staggered forward, her claw-like fingers reaching out to try and grab her. "Stay back!" Sunset thrust her hands forward and sent the girl flying back, until she hit the back wall and exploded into dust.
But before Sunset could relax, another of her female siblings stepped out. She looked just as bad as Solara One had been, whilst hissing that she was an impostor.
"I said stay back!" But as she pushed her sister backwards, Solaris One appeared along with Solara Three and Solaris Two.
Soon, more and more of her siblings appeared in the hallway and Sunset found herself surrounded. She started panicking, as she attempted to push them all away from her. But there were too many and one managed to grab her arm.
"Get off me!" She pulled on it, but her sibling had quite a grip for having next to no muscle mass. She pulled, but couldn't break free. And soon, her other arm was caught. The siblings all cried out, moaning as they started grabbing her and pulling on different parts of her body.
Sunset began to hyperventilate, as she screamed whilst being pulled in many directions.. The siblings dug their fingers into her and she screamed louder, as she felt her flew beginning to rip. And eventually, she couldn't take any more.
"NOOOOO!" Her eyes flew open, as she tried to sit up. But the chains kept her from getting up. She panted, as she laid back on the table. The experiences of her dream were ringing through her head and she panted, wishing she could just let herself cry. But her years under Sombra's training had made her body practically unable to cry.
Instead, she just laid there as she calmed down. But before she could rest again, the dungeon door suddenly opened.
Sunset looked towards the door and saw Chrysalis, the insectoid Sith stepping into the dungeon and smiling at her. "Well aren't you a sight." Sunset glared at her. "I know you screwed up, but I never would have thought Sombra would do this to you. What did you do to make him turn on you like this?"
"I discovered the truth," Sunset stated.
"Truth?"
"I'm his daughter." That statement got quite the reaction from Chrysalis, whose eyes almost doubled in size. "He cloned me, using his and Celestia's DNA. And I wasn't the first. He made countless sons and daughters, but got rid of them because none of them were Force Sensitive. The same thing would have happened to me, if I hadn't been strong with The Force."
"I see," Chrysalis nodded. "I had always wondered why Sombra had cloning technology. Guess it would make sense, if he acquired it in order to make you." Chrysalis stared at her. "And you chose to turn against him because of this?"
"It wasn't just that." Sunset kept her mouth shut after this, not wanting to tell anyone else about her misgivings when it came to the Dark Side. About how she could have killed Twilight in the Naboo temple, but instead saved her. "I'm done following him. He might have created me, but he was never my father. He never raised me or loved me. He's nothing to me but my creator."
"I see," Chrysalis nodded. She moved over to the table she was one and leaned against it. "You chose to turn against him, whilst surrounded by people who would kill you in a second. If you had managed to kill him, what do you think would have happened?"
"I wasn't really thinking," Sunset told her. "My mind was too messed up after learning the truth." She glared at Chrysalis, "but my head's clear now. I know what I have to do."
"Yes," Chrysalis nodded, "come to terms with your approaching end. You're going to be sacrificed. Your soul extinguished and your body used to house the new Sith, who will teach us everything we need to know in order to defeat the Jedi."
"No," Sunset told her, "that's not going to happen. I'm getting out of here. Right...NOW!" Suddenly, a clinking sound made Chrysalis look and see the shackles holding her had come undone. The changelings watching must have been so focused on their conversation, they didn't notice her using The Force.
Before Chrysalis could react, Sunset suddenly pulled her arm out of the shackles and punched her in the face. "AUGH!" Chrysalis staggered back, as Sunset pulled herself free before she could be zapped. She then leapt off the table and despite her legs feeling a little weak, she ran for the door.
Along the way, she summoned Chrysalis' Lightsaber to her hand before slamming the door shut.
"SOLARA!" Chrysalis roared, as Sunset ran through the corridor towards the exit. But as she ran, she heard alarms beginning to sound. The bug troopers would be on her soon. She had to get out of the castle before they surrounded her. After that, she didn't know.
Back on Canterlot, Shining was making some last minute adjustments to The Shooting Star.
As he welded part of the outside together, he looked up and noticed Flash approaching with the rest of their little band of pirates. All of them were dressed in their best battle clothes, with packs on their back and their weapons at the ready. Cadance led the group towards the ship, with Springer floating beside them.
As they approached, he got down off the ship and gave them all a look. "I hope you guys are ready for this. We're going in completely blind. There's no telling what'll be waiting for us when we get there. And if we do manage to get out of this alive and save Sunset, we're probably gonna be in a whole lot of trouble when we get back."
The Padawans all frowned, knowing he was right. But they couldn't just wait around.
"We have to do this," Twilight stated. "Sunset needs us and we can't just wait for the council to decide something like this. We have to go, now. And I don't care how much trouble I get in. If being a Jedi means abandoning someone who asked for help, then I wouldn't want to be a Jedi anyway."
"Careful." Twilight's eyes widened before she turned to see Celestia. "Those are words you might not want the rest of the council to hear." Celestia was marching towards them, Luna, Skybreaker, Tidal, Ruby, First, Heather and Spitfire approaching with her.
The Padawans all froze at the sight of their masters, who didn't look pleased by their disregard for the rules. "So," Luna crossed her arms, "you were just going to leave?"
"Um..." Trixie wasn't sure how to answer that.
"Without us?" Spitfire asked with a smirk.
"Wha?" Was all Rainbow could say in return.
Skybreaker laughed. "You kids think you were the only ones who thought about doing this?" It was at that moment, their Padawans realised the Jedi were all dressed in their best battle gear as well.
Heather frowned, "I'm not sure about bringing them. They've done amazing against the Sith before, but this is going into the lion's den. What if it's too dangerous?"
"We can handle it," Applejack told her teacher. "You guys taught us ta be da'h best Jedi we could possibly be. We know it'll be dangerous. But we're willing to face that danger."
"Indeed," Rarity nodded. "We want to help. We might not be real Jedi yet, but we all swore that we would do what it took to keep the galaxy safe."
Fluttershy took a deep breath. "And we know there's a chance some of us won't be coming back. Anything could happen and we might not make it out alive. But we accept that every time we go on a mission. We'll trust in your teachings and let them lead us to the best possible outcome."
"We're ready," Rainbow stated firmly. "And we're going. Doesn't matter if we have to steal another ship and go ourselves. We're gonna get there and do what needs to be done."
"Please," Pinkie begged, "please let us come. We'll follow every instruction you give us and we won't mess around. We get that this is serious."
Iron nodded. "we're just asking for the chance to help. There are people on that planet that need rescuing. And you might not be able to do it on your own." The masters just stared at them for a moment, as they all shared a look.
"We can do this," Twilight finally told them. "Please."
Celestia sighed. "Okay. You can come. But you all have to stick by your masters. Do whatever they say and if things get bad, you're to leave even if it means abandoning your master. Is that understood?" The Padawans frowned, clearly not liking that idea, but then nodded. "Alright then," Celestia smiled. "Then what are we waiting for?"
Everyone smiled before they began to file into the Shooting star.
With twenty individuals, it was a bit of a tight squeeze. But the Jedi managed to find space for themselves and their luggage. Springer connected to the computer system, whilst Shining got into the cockpit. And soon enough, the Shooting Star took off and began to leave Canterlot's atmosphere.
As they left, there was a call on the coms unit and a hologram of a Jedi in charge of the ships coming and going appeared. "Shooting Star. You don't have clearance to leave the Temple. All ships are supposed to be grounded until the council gives the all clear."
Celestia then got into the hologram's point of view, the Jedi looking shocked. "They had clearance. Grandmaster clearance."
"Mast...Master Celestia." The Jedi gulped. "Even the Grandmaster can't overrule the Council's directives. I'll have to notify them, if you choose to leave."
"Very well," Celestia smiled. "But we won't be gone for long." She knew that was probably a lie, but didn't care and cut the connection before giving Shining a look. The equestrian nodded and pushed the thrusters to maximum, causing the ship to shoot into the sky.
In less than a minute, the ship was out of the planet's atmosphere and Twilight was in the cockpit with them.
"Alright, Twilight. Where do we go?" Everyone watched, as Twilight closed her eyes and felt the pull that the connection had on her. She raised her arm and pointed it to the left, around eighty degrees from the direction they were currently heading.
"That way." Celestia nodded and Shining pulled the ship around, until Twilight's arm moved to point straight ahead.
"So the planet she's on is in that direction?" Luna asked, with Twilight nodding. "Unless she's on a ship."
"I don't think she's on a ship," Twilight shook her head. "The pull's been drawing me in the same direction. My guess is she's so far away, the turn of the planet isn't affecting it yet."
"Possibly," Celestia agreed. "Alright. Twilight, go get some sleep. We'll head in that direction until we reach a hyperspace corridor going in that general direction. But we'll need you to check if we've gone off course later." Twilight nodded and went to sleep in one of the sleeping quarters, as Celestia brought up a map of the known Galaxy.
"So," Shining frowned, "any idea where the heck we're going?"
Celestia drew a line from Canterlot, going in the direction Twilight had pointed them in. She instantly dismissed the areas of space inside the republic territory, which meant the Sith's base was somewhere in the Outer Rim. "We'll start in this area," Celestia announced as she circled a section of the map. "Plot a course to this location. If Sunset is there, Twilight should be able to lead us to her."
"And if she isn't there?" Luna stepped into the cockpit. "The hyperspace corridors in that area, aren't exactly straight. We'd be forced to zigzag around in order to get to the area after that. It's either that, or simply fly straight. And that'll take even longer."
Celestia frowned, "Sunset might not have that much time." They all began to worry that Sunset was about to be sacrificed any minute. If that happened, not only would they have failed to save her. They would have also lost any chance of finding the Sith's base. They had to hurry.
The castle was on high alert, as the bug troopers roamed the building in search for their escaped prisoner.
Sombra was also stamping through the halls, not looking happy as he approached the one responsible for her escape. "CHRYSALIS!" He saw the woman, who had been freed from the dungeon and was directing her troops.
As she turned to Sombra, she tried to make an excuse. But before she could, she suddenly found herself being choked by an invisible hand. She clutched her throat, as she fell to her knees.
"You allowed Solara to escape," Chrysalis gasped. "What made you think, going to see her was a good idea? Did you just want to taunt her? Was that it?" Chrysalis tried to answer, but couldn't with her throat closed up. "You had better find her and quickly."
Chrysalis felt the pressure around her neck fade, allowing her to take a huge gulp of air. "I'll find her, master. I swear."
"You had better," Sombra knelt down and looked her dead in the eyes. "I'm sacrificing someone to the gate. If it isn't Solara, it's going to be you." Chrysalis' eyes widened, as he got up and turned to leave. "You have twenty-four hours to locate her."
Chrysalis began to panic, as she got up and turned to the terrified troopers. "What are you waiting for? Find her!" The bugs nodded and ran off, whilst Chrysalis looked terrified. "This isn't good." She began to march off, "Solara knows this place better than anyone else. She grew up here. She'll know every nook and cranny that this castle holds."
Sure enough, Sunset did know every part of the castle.
Growing up, whenever she wasn't training or studying, she had been exploring the place she considered home. Sombra might have built the castle, but there were many places he never bothered going to. And that gave he an advantage.
Currently, Sunset was sneaking through a hallway towards an area that was once meant to act as an armoury. But it had never been used, since Sombra's forces were stationed on another planet before its need was required. As such, barely anyone went there.
Sunset knew the chances of a troop of changelings being there were slim. But she also knew that someone would eventually come looking. So she had to be fast.
As she got closer to the area with the armoury, she heard noises and realised some troopers were heading her way. As such, she quickly rushed over to a small alcove in the wall. She flattened herself into it, holding Chrysalis' Lightsaber as she prepared for a possible fight. One she might have trouble winning in the condition she was in.
The trooper's footsteps grew louder and louder, Sunset's heart beating almost as loud. Then, she heard them getting quieter. They were leading the area and Sunset could breathe a sigh of relief.
She got out of the alcove and ran towards the armoury, eventually reaching the door to it and using The Force to unlock. When she headed inside, she found the place was just as dusty and disgusting as she remembered it. But no matter how gross the place was, it still had her means of escape.
She headed over to one of the back walls and pushed a wooden weapons rack aside, revealing a hole in said wall.
It wasn't large, even looking smaller since the last time she had seen it, but it should be just large enough for her. She got down and began to crawl through the hole, which led to a small tunnel of some sorts. She didn't know where this tunnel had come from, but it was her ticket out of the castle.
She forced herself through the passageway and eventually, she heard a bunch of running water flowing down something.
And finally, after much shuffling, she finally reached the end of the passageway. And that's when she found herself, staring down at a fast flowing stream of water. It was an underground river, which she had once thrown a tracker into to see where it went. And thanks to that, she knew it eventually led out of the castle into a small lake that flowed into the ocean.
The only issue was, the river wasn't exactly sanitary.
"Oh, geez!" She covered her nose, as the smell of the river filled the tunnel. The purple liquid wasn't toxic, despite what it looked like, but the water was far from suitable to drink. If she spent too long within that water, she would likely get sick. "I've gotta do it!" With that, she took a deep breath before leaping into the water.
The river swept her away and she was barely able to hold onto her held breath, as she was sent spiralling around inside of the water.
She tried to count how long she was under the water, but lost count after forty seconds. And slowly, the breath she had held was beginning to strain. She groaned, but had to release it.
But some kind of miracle, she was close to the surface when this happened and was able to pull herself up and force her head above water. She took a deep breath, screaming as she breathed in again. And as she did, she looked ahead and saw the river was heading to a section of the tunnel which was shorter than the part she was in right now.
The area with air in it just stopped, as a large stone wall was right in front of her.
Sunset breathed out then breathed in, just in time to duck under the water and prevent her head from getting taken off. She flew into the smaller tunnel and kept her arms and legs as straight as possible, so she didn't lose them if she took a sharp turn. And she did.
She moved left at high speed, then right. She then dropped down several feet and when she landed, she screamed and accidentally lost her breath.
She screamed under the water and covered her mouth, as she tried to keep herself from breathing in. Her lungs quickly screamed for oxygen and eventually, she felt herself drifting off. But just before she did, she noticed a light right in front of her.
She used all her will to stay awake, as she found herself being shot out of the tunnel and flying into the air.
She had been blown at the side of the mountain that held the castle on top of it, the teen gasping as soon as she was out of the water. She cried out, as she fell down the side of the mountain and crashed into the water of the lake. That lake was only a few feet deep, so she barely slowed down before she reached the bottom.
She started swimming as soon as she felt her hooves touch the bottom, the equestrian kicking off the lake bed and swimming as hard as she could. She eventually reached the surface and gasped, as she pulled herself towards the shore.
Once she reached it, she pulled herself out of the water with the last of her strength. She coughed and panted, as she crawled along the ground whilst soaked to the bone. But finally, the last of her strength gave out and she fell to the ground.
She knew she wasn't safe, but she just couldn't go on any longer. She laid there, her eyes feeling heavy, as she began to drift off into unconsciousness. And as she did, she heard footsteps. She didn't know what or whose, but they were all she could make out before everything went dark.
Back in space, the Shooting Star continued to fly through hyperspace towards the destination Twilight had laid out for them.
Soon enough, Twilight stepped out of the cabin she had been sleeping in fully rested. "Twilight." She turned to the cockpit, where she saw Celestia and Shining still at the controls. "Good. You're awake. We're about to leave hyperspace. Get ready to tell us if we've arrived."
"Okay." Twilight stepped forward, as Shining began to lower a lever that caused them to shift out of the hyper space corridor.
As the ship began to slow down and the stars around them stopped expanding, Twilight once again felt the pull from her connection to Sunset. And as the ship slowed to a crawl, she sighed. "We're closer, but we still have a ways to go."
"How much of a ways?" Celestia asked. "Sunset might not have much longer. If we don't get there soon, it might be too late."
Twilight frowned, as she tried to determine how close they were. She then had an idea, the Padawan bringing up a holographic map that had the line running through it. Part of the light was glowing blue, showing their position. She placed her finger on it and tried to concentrate.
"Let The Force guide me." She felt the pull on her as her finger moved up the line, going up and up and up. And eventually, she felt like someone was yelling at her to stop. "There!" They all saw where on the line she had stopped and it didn't look good.
"That's a long way off," Shining frowned. "It'd probably take a day or more to get that far, even if we push the hyperdrive to the limit."
"Then we don't have a second to waste," Celestia typed in the coordinates Twilight had pointed out. "Let's go!" Everyone nodded and Shining pushed the ship back into hyperspace, the Shooting Star flying into the corridor once again. All they could do was hope they reached the place in time and that Sunset would find a way to get out of there.
Sunset once again found herself waking up from unconsciousness.
This time, at least, she didn't feel incredible pain or suffered from a horrible dream. She actually seemed to be on something soft, as she began to arouse. And as she did, she heard a voice speak up. "If she escaped from the castle, they're obviously going to come looking for her."
"We couldn't just leave her out there," a male voice stated. "What would you have me do?"
"Call a droid and tell them she's here."
"If she is an escapee, that'll just put her in even greater danger."
"So you'd rather put us in danger?"
"I'd rather do the right thing." Sunset opened her eyes and found herself in a hut of some kind, made of scrap metal that had been nailed and welded together. She was in a small alcove, likely meant to be a small bedroom, with a homemade bed within it.
She pushed herself up and the movement caught the attention of those currently arguing.
"Ah," a male voice replied, "finally awake I see."
"What happened?" Sunset clutched her head, as the figure moved over and sat down. Sunset realised he was a yellow skinned human, with red and blue hair wearing a bunch of rags.
"I was hoping you could tell me what happened," the man stated. "I found you on the riverbank. You looked like you were in a pretty terrible state. You've been asleep for almost a full day." Sunset's eyes widened, as she threw the covers off of her.
"I have to get out of here." She tried to get up, but suddenly lost her balance and almost fell over.
"Wow!" The man caught her. "You're in no condition to go anywhere. You were pretty badly beat up. You've obviously been through a lot. What happened to you?"
"It's...a long story. But I can't stay here. Wherever here is."
"You're in the slave internment camp." A red skinned twi'lek stepped into view, wearing rags just like the ones the other one was. "Where everyone the Sith have ever captured are kept when they're not being worked to death by those monsters up in the castle."
Sunset frowned, remembering all the times she had flown over the camp on her way to the castle. She had always laughed at the slaves. But now, she felt horrible.
"So who are you?" The man asked. "When I found you, you were soaked to the bone. How did you end up in that lake?"
"It's a long story." Sunset tried to stand again. "But let's just say, the Sith are after me. And the longer I'm here, the more likely it is that they'll find me. I have to get out of here."
"I doubt that'll happen," the twi'lek stated. "This camp is constantly being monitored by drones. If anyone tried to leave the perimeter, they'll be blasted by lasers and dragged off for punishment."
Sunset frowned, as she tried to think of a way to escape. But she couldn't...for about five seconds.
"I might have a way to stop those drones." The two looked shocked, "but it's not going to be easy. I need something to hack into their drone's remote systems. Some kind of scanner or control system."
"I might be able to help with that," the man smiled. "We can head to the junk pile. There's a bunch of old stuff there. The Sith try to stop anything electronic from being dumped there, but they might have missed something."
"Perfect," Sunset stood up again. As she did, she saw she was dressed in a simple shirt and pants. "Did you undress me?"
"I did that," the twi'lek stated. "Your things are all over there." She glanced at a nearby chair by the fire, Sunset running to grab everything and quickly change. But as she did, she realised how much she hated the clothes she had. The black leather, which had symbolised her title as a Sith. She was happy she had stopped wearing the mask when she returned from Naboo, but knew she would need to change these clothes when she escaped. If she escaped.
The man, who revealed his name to be Tubster, looked away as Sunset got dressed. And when the woman, named Ryn, saw the Lightsaber she had on her belt, she frowned. "Where did you get that?" She pointed at the weapon, Sunset frowning. "That's one of those things the Sith use, isn't it?"
"I'm not one of them." Sunset didn't know if that counted as a lie. "When I was escaping, I managed to take one by surprise. I thought taking it might help me escape." Ryn clearly wasn't sure if she believed her or not. "All the more reason for me to get out of here. If I don't, this thing's true owner will cause serious issues if she shows up."
Tubster nodded and when she was dressed, they headed out of the hut and made their way through the camp.
Sunset looked around, seeing the many people trying to keep themselves alive. Many were gathered around small fires, whilst others were pouring water into something that was likely to make it drinkable. The huts were all made of scrap metal and looked terrible to live in.
"Where'd you come from?" Tubster asked, as they past a bunch of children being given whatever food the slaves had. "Where'd they snatch you from?"
"Snatch me from?"
"We all come from somewhere. Some of us were captured when our ships were attacked. Others come from backwater planets and a few were citizens of the republic, that got kidnapped when we found ourselves in the wrong place at the wrong time. So what about you?"
"I...I'd rather not say."
"Fair enough," Tubster nodded. "Painful memory. I can understand that." They reached the edge of the camp and made their way towards an open area of the camp, as a bunch of drones suddenly appeared. The sphere-like robots hovered above them, as their camera-like eye stared down at them. "Relax, they won't hurt us unless we try and go past the perimeter."
Sunset gulped, as a large pile of metal suddenly appeared in the distance.
It was actually several piles of metal, having damaged components of sorts from many different things. "Where'd this stuff come from?"
"It's what the Sith apparently retrieve from battles they've fought. Damaged droids and broken pieces of ship. It gets dumped here and we have to use it to build new ships and droids from them."
Sunset hadn't known that, but it did give her an idea. "If we can shut down the drones, could we use one of those ships to escape?"
"Possibly," Tubster shrugged. "Though, we'd need someone who knows how to pilot a ship like that. We might have built them, but we don't really know how they work." Sunset nodded, as they reached the junk pile. "Whatever you do, don't make it look like you're searching for something specific. Just look like you're trying to find whatever's good."
"Got it," Sunset started rummaging through the closest pile whilst Tubster did the same. They started pulling a bunch of objects out of the trash, be they pieces of droid, parts of ship or just random pieces of metal Sunset prayed she could find something. And find it soon.
Back on the shooting star, Twilight and her friends were all hard at work.
They all knew they were about to head into a serious battle, so were making sure their weapons were ready for the fight that was to come. Each one had parts of their Lightsabers taken apart. Some had their floating in pieces, whilst others simply took them apart the normal way.
Off in one corner, Flash had replaced a piece of his Lightsaber's internal workings before using The Force to reconstruct it.
Once the weapon was back together, he held it in his hand and considered activating it. But with so many people in the ship, he didn't want to risk hurting someone.
As he held his weapon in hand, he noticed someone approaching. Skybreaker.
The human equestrian hybrid smiled at him, as he sat down beside him. "May I?" Flash nodded and handed him the Lightsaber, Skybreaker turning it over in his hands. "I was there, you know. When Grand built this Lightsaber. Most Jedi only built one weapon and it's all they ever needed. Grand had a pretty bad habit of damaging his throughout his career."
"Really?"
Skybreaker nodded. "I've lost count of how many times he needed to rebuild his weapon. But he was particularly proud of his design when he made this one." He smiled at Flash. "I'll admit, I was hesitant when I first met you. But I've come to see just what Grand saw in you." He handed the weapon back to him, "wield that saber with pride." Flash nodded and placed the weapon back on his belt, as Celestia's voice rang through the ship.
"We're approaching our destination. Everyone get ready for whatever's waiting for us." That got everyone moving, as they prepared themselves to come out of hyperspace.
In the cockpit, Twilight watched as the universe around them zipped away. Twilight could still feel the connection between her and Sunset, but their rapid movements through the corridor were jumbling it up.
"Coming out of hyperspace!" Shining announced, as he pulled the lever down. And once again, the universe's stretching came to a stop. Eventually, it completely ceased and they found themselves back in normal space.
But before Twilight could try and locate Sunset, their console beeped. "What's that?"
Shining checked and was surprised when he saw what it was. "It's a tracer. The ship's picking up a tracer it was programmed to scan for."
Celestia smiled. "Lightning's tracer. He put it on one of the Destroyers. We had all the ships programmed to scan for it." Shining quickly began to triangulate the location.
"Got it!" He smirked, "It's not too far from here." He typed in the coordinates and as the ship turned to it, Twilight was able to lock onto Sunset.
"We're going the right way."
"Then go get ready for the fight," Celestia told her. "We'll follow the tracer and let you prepare." Twilight nodded and headed into the main part of the ship, as Celestia looked out the windows. "Not much to look at."
Shining nodded. "The Sith needed somewhere to hide that they wouldn't be found easily. This place doesn't have any M-class planets. So it's not a place anyone would look." Celestia nodded, as they began to make their way towards the tracer's location.
"Be careful," Celestia told him. "That tracer's on a Destroyer. And I'm willing to bet it's not the only ship that'll be wherever we're heading."
Shining nodded. "The minute they see us, we're gonna be in trouble." He glanced at Celestia, "are we doing the right thing here? All it'll take is one good shot and we'll be destroyed."
Celestia sighed, "this might be foolish. But we've come this far. We might as well go the whole way." Shining nodded, as they followed the tracer's signal as fast as they could.
Back with Sunset, the girl had been searching through the junk piles for something she could use to save herself.
She had managed to find some small components, but nothing she could use to deactivate the drones. However, that soon changed when she pulled part of the pile away and saw something. "Hello." She reached in and once she was sure the drones weren't looking at her, she pulled it out and gave it a good look.
It was a remote like device that was likely meant to be used on droids.
"Perfect." She hid it into her clothes and turned to Tubster. "I think I've got what we came for." Tubster smiled and nodded, as he picked up several pieces of metal.
"Grab something so they don't get suspicious." Sunset nodded and picked up a few light objects, the pair heading back to the camp. The drones kept following them until they reached the buildings, where more and more people were trying to stay warm and rested.
"I'm sorry." Tubster looked back in her direction. "I'm sorry you have to live like this. That you're worked practically to death every day."
"It's not your fault," Tubster told her. "And whilst this isn't exactly what we'd like to be doing, we still have something that keeps us going every day."
"What?"
"Hope," Tubster smiled. "Hope that one day, we'll be saved from this camp. That the Sith and all their lackeys get what's coming to them. Hope that we'll get to see our homes and families again."
Sunset nodded, but didn't feel as hopeful as he did. She had been through a lot and in that time, hope had never been something she had come to rely on. Just hoping something good would happen had never sat well with her. She preferred to make that stuff happen herself.
"Well, maybe your hopes will be granted today." They reached Tubster's hut and stepped back inside, where Ryn was waiting. "If I can get this thing working, I should be able to tune it to the drone's frequency. And with a press of a button, they'll all switch off and we'll be able to escape."
"I hope you're right," Tubster nodded. "But escape won't be easy. Even if we can get to the ship, there are a bunch more ships waiting for us above the planet."
"He's right," Ryn nodded. "There's no telling what'll happen if we try to escape on our own."
"It's better than just waiting around, hoping someone else might show up to save you." She took the remote apart and started fiddling with the controls. "Hope can only go so far. If you want to save yourselves, you've got to fight for your freedom."
"How'd you expect to fight them?" Ryn asked. "Even if you take out the drones, they'll know we're trying to get away. They'll start blasting at us. And even if some of us manage to get back to a ship, most of us will be killed. We have little children here. Are you willing to accept their deaths when you try and get us to escape."
Sunset frowned, "I'm getting out of here. If you want to stay, go ahead. I'm not staying." She finished her adjustments and nodded. "Done. This should shut down all the droids." She closed the remote up and nodded, as she looked at the pair. "So, what are you gonna do?"
Tubster and Ryn shared a look, clearly unsure what to do.
But before either of them could say anything, an explosion suddenly rocked the camp. They all cried out, as they jumped to the ground in panic. Screams could be heard, along with the sound of crashing metal and other cries of pain.
The three got up and ran for the exit, looking out and seeing part of the camp was on fire.
The drones were attacking, blasting anything that moved. Whenever one saw someone, it let a laser rip with everything it had. People were blown into the air and thrown into the sides of huts, as Sunset looked around. That's when she saw her.
Chrysalis, she and a bunch of bug troopers walking through the destroyed section of the camp. As she looked around, the troopers pointed their weapons at anyone that looked ready to attack them. "SOLARA!" Her yells echoed in the night, as Sunset flinched. "I know you're here. Show yourself!"
Sunset hid back in the hut, whilst Tubster and Ryn looked at her in shock.
"You're Solara?" Ryn looked at her in rage, whilst Sunset looked down in shame. "You're one of them."
"I turned against them," Solara explained. "And when I tried to escape, I passed out and you found me." Tubster looked horrified that he had helped a Sith. "I know you have every right to hate me, but I'm not trying to get you guys in danger." She looked down at the remote and sighed before handing it to Tubster. "Once we're gone, use this to disable the drones. That should give you guys time to escape."
"What do you mean, once you're gone?" Ryn watched, as Sunset moved towards the door and stepped out into the camp.
"I'm here!" She told Chrysalis, as she and her Bug Troopers pointed their weapons at her. "Don't hurt anyone else and I'll surrender." Chrysalis smirked, as Solara raised her arms.
"Well, well. Since when have you cared about what happens to other people? It wasn't too long ago, that you enjoyed laughing at them in their squalor." Sunset frowned. "What has happened to you?"
"Doesn't matter," Sunset sighed. "Just take me prisoner and lets get this over with."
Chrysalis hummed for a moment before turning to her changelings, "make them pay." The troopers started firing and Sunset gasped, as the huts were blown apart.
"Stop it!"
"The slaves need to learn a lesson about hiding fugitives."
"They didn't know who I was," Sunset yelled as another hut was destroyed and the slaves did their best to keep themselves from getting hit by debris. "I SAID STOP IT!" She ran forward, taking Chrysalis' Lightsaber out and igniting it.
She reached the first bug trooper and slashed at it, but was stopped by another Lightsaber. Hers.
Chrysalis smiled as she held the weapon in her hand, the two glaring at each other before Chrysalis pushed Sunset away. The pair got into a fighting stance and quickly charged, their weapons clashing against one another as they tried to overpower the other.
Sunset groaned, as she suddenly felt herself getting overpowered.
"Still not firing on all cylinders?" Chrysalis laughed forcing Sunset away. "I'm betting you haven't eaten anything either." Sunset frowned. "Don't worry. I'll make this quick." She rushed forward and dealt several powerful strikes to Sunset, who barely managed to block them all. As she did, the troopers kept blasting the rest of the slaves.
Many tried to run, but they ended up getting shot at by the drones.
Sunset heard the screams and felt her heart beating louder with every cry. And as Chrysalis charged again, Sunset felt herself growing more and more angry.
Before Chrysalis could attack, Sunset let out a roar as she swung her blade around. The attacks collided and before Chrysalis knew what was happening, she was overpowered and knocked away. Sunset then attacked with everything she had, striking at the insectoid several times. And eventually, she managed to knock Chrysalis' arm up before slicing at it.
Chrysalis gasped and moved her arm at the last moment, causing Sunset's attack to miss. And instead, she struck the end of her Lightsaber's handle.
A small explosion could be heard, as the Lightsaber was destroyed. Chrysalis was forced to drop it, the damaged weapon falling to the ground.
Sunset stared at her destroyed Lightsaber, hardly believing she had just done that. But before she could really let this development sink in, she suddenly found herself getting blasted at.
A bug trooper was firing at her, Sunset deflecting with the last of her strength. But another trooper did the same, followed by all the others. Soon, Sunset was getting attacked from every angle. She screamed, unable to keep up with it. And eventually, one of the blasts hit her.
"Augh!" She felt her body go numb and eventually, she fell to the ground with the Lightsaber falling from her hand.
As she laid there, Chrysalis stepped up and smiled down at her. "Oh, how precious. Destroying your own weapon, only to find yourself at the mercy of others without it." Sunset began to black out again. "The stunners shouldn't have done any damage. Who knows, you might not wake up until after the ceremony. That might be a mercy to you. And if this is the last time we talk, let me say that it's been a great displeasure knowing you."
Sunset wanted to argue back, but couldn't as she let out a groan before passing out.
She didn't know if she would wake up in time to see her life end, but she felt something appear in her heart as she drifted into the darkness. Hope. A small flame of hope, that she and the prisoners would find a way to free themselves. That someone might arrive to save them.
Author's Note
Yikes. Sunset's going through the wringer, huh? Will the Jedi be able to save her in time? Will the prisoners use the device she created? Only time will tell.
