Yugioh EQG: Cyberse Tournament

Turn 20: Facing Restrictions

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

The Cyberse Tournament continues to rage, with only four competitors remaining to fight for the title.

Two of them had managed to defeat their next opponents and move on to the Semi-Finals, whilst the other two continued to struggle against their own obstacles. One such obstacle, was the creator of Duel Monsters.

Pegasus and his army of Toon Monster, one of which being his own stolen and toonified ace, were causing Flash to have some trouble. With Toon Empire and Pegasus' Car-Toon Logic Trap, nothing Flash did worked. But he refused to let that stop him. He would find a way to defeat Pegasus.

At the same time, in the shadow of Duel Academy, Yona continued to wage war against Syrus Truesdale and his collection of machines, dragons and the occasional warrior monster. UFOroid Fighter was proving tricky, but Yona wasn't about to be beaten yet.

"Yona draw!" She did and smirked when she saw what it was, so quickly activated it. "Yona play Rank-Up-Magic, Berserking Force!"

"Oh man!" Syrus cried, as Wild Smasher glowed before being pulled into the air.

"Now, Yona rebuild Overlay Network!" The black hole formed and her monster flew into it. Smash apart and rebuild stronger. That Berserking way. Now Yona smashes this monster, to make a more powerful beast!" The black hole exploded. "RANK-UP XYZ SUMMON!"

The light faded away, revealing the more powerful and insane looking Wild Smasher. "Rampage Smasher!" (A2700/D2200/R5) "Yona now uses the skill of Berserking Forger!" A portal opened up and from out of it, Berserking Forger appeared before disappearing. "Yona banish him, to add Equip Spell from deck to hand." A card slotted out of the deck and Yona quickly activated it. "Now, Yona equip Berserking Fire Fist!"

Aria: "Smart move. Now, Yona can use her monster's ability without risking destroying her monster."

The metal glove appeared around her monster's fist, catching fire as it did. (A3000/D2200/R5) "Now, Yona activate Rampage Smasher's skill!" One of the two lights flew into his fist, causing the number on the side to start spinning.

Aria: "If the number they land on is a one, three or five, she can destroy any card and increase her monster's ATK points. But if it's a two, four or six, she'll have to destroy one of her cards and take five hundred points of damage. Which will it be?"

Everyone watched as the number slowed to a stop, appearing to stop on four, then change to one, then six and finally stopping on a three. "Yes!" Yona cheered, as Rampage Smasher pulled his fist back. "Go, Smashing Strike!" The Xyz Monster, thrust its fist forward and a blast of energy flew out of it, hitting Syrus' face up Trap.

"Life Force!" He cried, as Rampage Smasher gained more power. (A3300/2200/R5) Yona then pointed at his Fusion Monster.

"Now, Yona attack UFOroid Fighter!" Rampage Smasher roared, as he charged forward like an angry gorilla and leapt into the air. He raised his Fire Fist up before bringing it down, smashing into the Fusion Monster and destroying it.

The flames from the metal gauntlet flew out and slammed into Syrus, making him cry out as he was thrown backwards. He crashed into the ground and let out a moan, as his Life Points dropped.

Yona: 1800
Syrus: 2300

"Oh!" Trixie hissed. "That had to hurt."

"Isn't he just a digital recreation of a person?" Fluttershy asked. "I don't think they actually feel any pain." The others were thinking that was a good thing, since it would have certainly hurt if he was real.

"Do you think he still has a chance?" Sweetie asked, as Syrus began to pick himself up.

"I'm not sure," Sunset replied. "If he can draw the right set of cards, maybe. But against Yona's Rampage Smasher, he might be in trouble."

"Yona end turn." As Yona said this, Rampage Smasher's power boost faded. (A3000/D2400/R5)

"It's my turn," Syrus reached for his deck and drew his card. "And I play my Cybernetic Reboot!" The Spell appeared and began to glow, as the ghostly images of Syrus' monsters appeared. Cyber Dragon, Cyberdark Horn, Cyber End Dragon and a monster Yona read as Cyber Dragon Core. "This card lets me draw a card, for every Cyber and Cyberdark Monster in my Graveyard." Syrus drew four cards, Yona frowning as the ghost vanished.

Aria: "Four new cards. Those four could be the difference between victory and defeat for Syrus."

"I place two cards face down," he played them. "Then, I summon Cyberdark Keel!" In a flash of light, a long robotic snake-like creature appeared. (A800/D800/L4) "Now, Cyberdark Keel will take a dragon from my Graveyard!" A portal opened and from out of it, Alexandrite Dragon appeared.

It flew up to Keel and the cables flew out of it, attaching themselves to the dragon and allowing all its power to go into the Cyberdark Monster. (A2800/D800/L4)

"That not enough to destroy Yona's monster."

"Maybe," Syrus stated. "But it'll protect it from you destroying it. At least for a little while. And with that, I end my turn."

Yona frowned, as he looked towards Keel. She needed to find a way to destroy it completely. And she knew how. "Yona draw! And then use Rampage Smasher's skill!" The final light flew into the glove, as the number started spinning. Yona watched, hoping it would land on a one, three or five. And as it slowed down, she saw it land on three, then four, then one, then, finally, it stopped on the number six. "No!"

Aria: "Ahh! That's what happens when you keep hoping for a lucky roll. No matter how many times you do well, your luck will eventually run out. Now, Yona must sacrifice a card and take five hundred damage.

Yona thought about her options and realised that if she got rid of Fire Fist, her monster wouldn't be strong enough to attack or defend against Keel. "Yona sacrifice her face down card." The card exploded and Yona was hit by the shockwave.

Yona: 1300
Syrus: 2300

Despite now being a thousand points behind, Yona wasn't giving up. "Yona attack Cyberdark Keel!" The Xyz Monster charged and threw a punch, which headed straight for the robotic serpent. But Syrus was ready.

"I sacrifice Alexandrite Dragon!" Keel held the dragon up and Rampage smasher slammed its fist into the monster, destroying it. "Gyah!"

Yona: 1300
Syrus: 2100

Without Alexandrite Dragon, Cyberdark Keel's power dropped. (A800/D800/L4) "Yona place one card face down and end turn." She did so and turn." As Yona stared at Syrus, she tried to guess what would happen next. Her best bet, would be Syrus using Keel's effect to summon Alexandrite Dragon. But that wouldn't allow it to destroy her monster. So he was likely going to try and boost his monster's power. But who knows what he had planned.

Over at the Duelist Kingdom, Flash was in a seriously tight spot.

Pegasus' three card combo had created a powerful wall that made him completely untouchable. And despite The Dark Door limiting him to only one attack per turn, he had his Toon Cannon Soldier to blast Flash to smithereens so long as he could get enough monsters. If Flash didn't find a way to beat him soon, he wouldn't be in the Cyberse Tournament for much longer.

"What's the matter, Flash Boy?" He glared at Pegasus. "Feeling a little outclassed? I'm sure it feels rather embarrassing, getting completely outclassed by someone who hasn't held a card in decades. I know I'd be feeling like a loser, if I was being overwhelmed at every turn."

"You think you've got me beaten," Flash told him. "That no matter what, I'll end up losing. I'm sure you thought the same, when you faced off against Yugi Moto." Pegasus frowned. "Well he managed to beat you and I'm gonna find a way to do it as well." He reached for his deck and drew his card, seeing it was his Magna Pegasus. And since Pegasus didn't have any cards in his hand to banish, summoning him would be pointless.

Flash turned to the other cards in his hand. Quantum Nexus Ritual and Pendulum Shift. Powerful cards, but they wouldn't help him right now. As he tried to come up with a plan, the portal formed above his head. "I PENDULUM SUMMON!"

The portal opened and a light flew out of it, slamming down on the battlefield and exploding to reveal his monster. "Stampede, Charge Horn Magna Bull!" (A2100/D2200/L5/P4) "I end my turn."

"My draw!" Pegasus did so and Toon Mouse once again cancelled out Toon Empire's payment cost. "I summon Beaver Warrior!" The book slammed shut and spun around before bursting open. "Now rise, Toon Beaver Warrior!" Smoke flew out of the book and formed a large purple rat, wearing purple armor and carrying a bendy sword and a shield with eyes. (A1200/D1500/L4) "Now, Flash Heart, destroy Reality Buster Dragon!"

Once again, the robot flew forward and slammed a fist right into Flash's monster. The Xyz dragon exploded, Flash flinching as he was knocked staggering back.

Flash: 2300
Pegasus: 3000

"And by tributing Beaver Warrior, Cannon Soldier will deal another five hundred points of damage!" The robot grabbed the rat and stuffed it down the barrel of its cannon, Beaver Warrior not looking happy. The robot then fired it out of its gun and the rat screamed, as it was set flying towards Flash.

"WOW!" Flash braced himself, as the rat smashed into him and he was thrown backwards. "Gyah!"

Flash: 1800
Pegasus: 3000

Pegasus chuckled, as Flash pushed himself up. "It won't be long now." He called an end to his turn, "just hold on a little longer."

"Oh can it," Flash told him. He looked down at his Duel Disk and knew he was running out of time. He had to find a way to beat Pegasus, here and now. "Come on, Deck. Give me something I can use." He reached down and drew the card, seeing what it was and gasping. "Yes!"

Adagio: "Flash seems pretty sure that the card he got was a game changer. But what can it be?"

The portal began to form above his head, as Flash held up two of his cards. "I PENDULUM SUMMON!" The portal flew open and a light flew out, hitting the ground and exploding to reveal his monster. "Take flight, Flash Wing Magna Pegasus!" (A1400/D800/L4)

"Pegasus?" His opponent asked, "I'm flattered."

"Don't be!" Flash told him. "He's gonna be what helps me win this Duel. But first, Vail Pixie!" The little fairy appeared, laughing as she twirled around. (A100/D100/L1) "And then I'll use the Pendulum Ability of Lustrous Feather, Magna Leghorn!" The robotic bird squawked, as the star on its chest glowed. "Now I can alter the Level of any monster on my field by three."

"What?" Pegasus was shocked by this, as the star unleashed a pair of lights that flew down into Vail Pixie and caused her to glow. (A100/D100/L3) "So what? Levelling your monster up won't help you."

"Won't it?" Flash asked. "After all, Vail Pixie is a Tuner monster." Pegasus gasped, as Vail Pixie and Flash Wing leapt into the air. "I tune Level three Vail Pixie and Level four Flash Wing Magna Pegasus together!" Vail Pixie morphed into a trio of lights, which carved three light rings that the pegasus flew into. "With skills born through work and dedication, raise your sword for battle!" The monsters disappeared in a burst of light. "I SYNCHRO SUMMON!"

The light faded to reveal a tall man, whose entire body was inside a set of gunmetal robotic steampunk armour. Only his head was visible, with a device covering his right eye reminding a few older watchers of a Duel Gazer. From his arms, a pair of four foot blades shot out. It swung them around, creating a gust of wind as it did so. "Magna Champion, Assault Striker." (A2500/D2100/L7)

Adagio: "Amazing! Flash has summoned a powerful Synchro Monster. But will it be enough to help him defeat Pegasus?"

"I activate the skill of Magna Champion!" Flash held up his Pendulum Shift Spell before discarding. "Since I just ditched a Spell Card, I can destroy any Spell on the field."

"What?" Pegasus asked, as a part of Assault Striker's shoulder pads opened up. Doing so revealed a pair of laser blasters, which aimed at the floating book before firing a blast at it. Pegasus could do nothing but watch, as his prized Field Spell was destroyed. "NOOOOOO!"

"And with Toon Empire gone, your Car-Toon Logic is also destroyed. And your monsters are returned to normal." Sure enough, Flash Heart Dragon and Cannon Soldier were covered in smoke from the book's explosion. As the smoke faded, they were back to normal.

Adagio: "Amazing! Flash managed to finally get rid of Toon Empire and now, Pegasus is unable to keep his monsters from being destroyed."

Pegasus looked horrified. "How could you? Stripping them of their toonish free spirit. Just look at them now. So...normal."

"Yup," Flash smiled, "normal and destroyable!" He pointed at Cannon Soldier, "now go, Assault Striker!" The Synchro Monster shot forward, blades at the ready as he flew towards the robot and slashed at it with both weapons.

The machine exploded, Pegasus crying out as he was hit by the shockwave.

Flash: 1800
Pegasus: 1900

"There's more!" Flash cheered. "Since Assault Striker destroyed a card with his ability, he also gets to attack twice this turn." Assault Striker turned towards Flash Heart, as Flash Heart turned towards it. "Sorry about this, bud. Gotta be done!" The monster flew forward and slashed at Flash Heart, who in turn threw a punch right back at the Synchro Monster.

The resulting clash caused both monsters to be destroyed, leaving Pegasus' field open. Unfortunately, Flash still had the Pegasus' Dark Door on his field. That meant he couldn't attack with Magna Bull.

"I end my turn." He smiled. He might not have won, but he had gotten rid of the Toon Monsters. And best of all, Flash Heart was back in his Extra Deck. He could use him next turn. But as he looked over at Pegasus, he suddenly felt very scared.

The smile was gone from his face. Clearly, destroying his Toons had taken all the joy from him. "You made a big mistake, Flash Boy. Now you'll face the full power of my deck." Flash frowned, wondering what that meant.

Back with Yona and Syrus, the digital Duelist reached for his deck and drew his card. When he did, he smiled when he saw what it was. "Yona. You've put up a good fight. But it's time for this Duel to end."

"What?" Yona asked, as Syrus played his card.

"I activate the Spell card, Power Bond!" Yona gasped, knowing what that card did.

"Power Bond?" Gallus frowned. "I'm not familiar with that Spell."

"It's a really strong card," Fizzlepop stated. "It allows the user to Fusion Summon a Machine Monster. And when the monster is summoned, it's ATK points are doubled." That shocked them, as Sunset continued.

"But it has a price. At the end of his turn, Syrus will have to give up Life Points equal to his Fusion Monster's original ATK Points. If the monster has twenty one hundred or more ATK Points, he'll lose the Duel."

"So what's he summoning?" Applebloom asked. "What's he got to Fuse together?" They soon got their answer.

"I activate, my Cybernetic Fusion Support!"

Aria: "Wow! That card forces him to pay half his Life Points. But in exchange, he can use any monster in his hand, field or graveyard to Fusion Summon!"

"I pay half my Life Points," Syrus announced as a pair of portals opened.

Yona: 1300
Syrus: 1050

From out of those portals, two monsters appeared. "Now, I can fuse the Cyberdark horn in my graveyard, with the Cyberdark Keel on my field and the Cyberdark Edge in my hand!" Horn appeared, along with a monster that had massive robotic wings, spindly legs and a sharp looking tail. The three monsters flew up and as they did, a portal appeared and they were sucked inside. "Come forth, beast of the underworld. Take your power from everything and destroy all those before you." The portal exploded, unleashing a blast of light. "I FUSION SUMMON!"

The light faded and from it, a massive monster appeared. A fusion of all three monsters, with Cyberdark Horn acting as its head and neck. Cyberdark Edge was the main body, its wings even larger than before, whilst Cyberdark Keel was its tail. "CYBERDARK DRAGON!" (A1000/D1000/L8)

Yona frowned. The monster looked impressive, but its ATK points were hardly anything to call impressive. "Thanks to Power Bond, the ATK of my Monster is now doubled." (A2000/D1000/L8) "And then, I'll activate my Trap Card." His face down flipped up, "Rebirth Judgement! With this, I can change the type of every card in my graveyard to a type of my choosing. And I choose Dragon-Type!"

Yona gulped, as she realised what that had to mean. If Cyberdark Dragon had the same abilities as Horn and Keel, that meant she was in serious trouble.

"I now use Cyberdark Dragon's ability!" Syrus stated. "Thanks to Rebirth Judgement, every card in my Grave is a Dragon. And that means they're all up for grabs. So now, my Cyber End Dragon will be equipped to Cyberdark Dragon!" Yona gasped, as a portal opened and Cyber End Dragon appeared.

Cyberdark Dragon then flew down and slammed into the back of Cyber End, as the cables came out of its body and attached themselves to Cyber End. As it did, both monsters glowed as their powers were combined and given to Cyberdark Dragon. (A6000/D1000/L8)

"Six thousand ATK Points!" Silverstream cried. "That's way too many ATK Points."

"Yona's done for," Scootaloo cried. The others hated to say it, but she might be right. Against something like that, what was Yona supposed to do? And then it got worse.

"My Cyberdark Dragon has another ability." Syrus held up his Duel Disk. "For every monster in my Graveyard, he gains another one hundred ATK points." Cyberdark roared again, it power rising. (A6800/D1000/L8)

Aria: "Against a monster that powerful, what can Yona possibly do?"

"It's been fun," Syrus told her. "But this is where it ends. Cyberdark Dragon, attack Rampage Smasher and end this Duel!" The dragon let out a powerful roar, which flew across the field and was ready to destroy the Xyz Monster.

As the waves flew towards her monster, Yona looked terrified. But then that fear vanished and she quickly activated her face down. "Kunai with Chain!" A chain and curved blade appeared in Smasher's hand, the Xyz Monster swinging it around before throwing it at Cyberdark Dragon. "This Trap have two powers. First, switch Syrus monster into DEF."

Syrus gasped, as his monster was suddenly hooked by the chain. And with one mighty pull, Rampage Smasher pulled it and Cyber End Dragon downwards into the ground.

Aria: "Wow! With Cyberdark Dragon in DEF mode, its attack has been cancelled. And what's more, the monster's DEF points are pathetic. There's no way it can survive an attack from Yona's monster."

The monster's soundwaves disappeared before they could hit Rampage Smasher, as Yona smiled. "Trap's second effect. Make Rampage Smasher even stronger." (A3500/D2400/R5) "Syrus end turn?"

Syrus looked up at his monster, then smiled. "Not yet." Yona looked surprised. "I knew there was a chance you might stop my attack. I wouldn't have played Power Bond, if I didn't take your face down into consideration."

"So you have card to save you from Spell cost?"

"Nope. I'm gonna be taking all that damage. But before that, I tribute my Cyberdark Dragon and Cyber End Dragon." Yona hadn't been expecting that, as a portal opened up and the two monsters flew up into it. "Now, I combine my two most powerful beasts together. Let their powers unite, to create an even greater force!" The portal exploded and a powerful light appeared from it. "UNION SUMMON!"

The light began to slowly fade and as it did, Syrus' monster was revealed. And it was...the exact same monster. Cyberdark Dragon and Cyber End Dragon, both bound together like they had been before. But as they flew down, Yona realised they were actually welded together. There was no removing them from one another. "Behold, my most powerful monster. Cyberdark End Dragon!" (A5000/D3800/L12)

Aria: "HOLY! Syrus has summoned a monster even stronger than the one he had before. At least...in the sense of original ATK points. Whilst it is weaker than Cyberdark Dragon was, it's no longer in DEF mode. And from what I'm seeing on its sheet, Yona's going to be in serious trouble."

"I activate my Cyberdark End Dragon's special ability!" A portal opened at Syrus feet and from out of it, Gyroid appeared and flew up towards his Fusion Monster. The little helicopter landed within Cyber End's middle mouth, as wires came out and attached themselves to it. "Every turn, I can equip a monster in our graveyards onto my monster. And he can attack once for every monster he's equipped with."

"So next turn, Syrus equip other card and attack twice?"

"Exactly," Syrus smiled. "And with that, I end my turn." As he said that, the effect of Power Bound kicked in. The Spell card appeared and glowed, Syrus glowing along with it. "GYAH!" He cried, as he took Cyberdark Dragon's original ATK points as damage.

Yona: 1300
Syrus: 50

Aria: "Syrus is in trouble. He's down to only fifty Life Points, but has a monster that'll be almost impossible to damage. All Yona needs is to make her monster just a little stronger than Cyberdark End Dragon, but is such a thing possible?"

Yona looked through her hand and then tapped on Cyberdark End Dragon, bringing up its profile and reading it. When she saw it, her eyes went wide. "Immune to all opponent's active effects?"

"Yup," Syrus smiled. "Cyberdark End can't be touched by any Spell, Trap or Monster effect you have. Which means you can't use a Trap on it like you did against Cyberdark Dragon, or use a Spell or Monster to destroy or weaken it. He's untouchable."

Yona could hardly believe it. That meant that the only way to defeat it, was to somehow get her monster up to over five thousand ATK points. Was such a thing possible?

At the same time, Spike was making his way through another tunnel.

He expected the next battlefield would have an actual opponent this time, though he had chosen not to try and guess what his sister had planned. Instead, he simply kept walking until he reached the end. And sure enough, he finally reached the end and found himself walking out and hearing the sound of the sea.

Looking around, he saw he was standing on a large slab of rock in the middle of the ocean. Turning his attention to the sea, he spotted a ship of some kind off in the distance.

"I bet I'll find my opponent on that ship." He looked down at the water and wondered if he could swim all the way there. But before he could get worried, he spotted a small rowing boat on one side of the rock he was on. "That's work." He jumped down onto the rowing boat, careful not to fall overboard.

Once he was sure the boat was stable, he started rowing towards the ship. But what he didn't realise was that he was being followed. As he rowed, a fin came up from out of the water and was moving towards him.

Flash stared at Pegasus, still feeling creeped out by the guy's sudden spike in dark aura.

Before, he had been like a kid. A malicious feeling kid, but a kid none the less. Now, it appeared that the kid gloves were coming off. And Flash needed to be ready for anything the man threw at him.

"It's my turn!" Pegasus drew his card and as he did, Toon Cat's ability activated. "I'll then use my Monster's Pendulum Ability, to add any Spell Card I want from my deck to my hand." A card slotted out and as soon as he grabbed it, he played it. "Now, I activate my Dark Contract of Sacrifice."

Adagio: "Dark Contract of Sacrifice. That card allows him to add any number of cards from his Deck to his Hand. But for each one, he'll have to pay a thousand Life Points for."

Once again, Toon Mouse's Pendulum Ability negated the Life Points payment. As Pegasus added four cards from his deck to his hand, he quickly played one of them. "I activate, Giant Trunade!" Suddenly, a massive tornado swept across the battlefield.

Flash flinched, barely able to keep himself from being blown off the bridge. But as he was, Flash and Pegasus's cards were blown into the air. They quickly returned to card form and fell back to the Duelists, both catching them as the wind faded.

Adagio: "Using Giant Trunade to return all the Spell and Traps to their owner's hands. A smart move."

"I don't get it," Trixie asked. "Why is that smart?"

"Toon Mouse," Sunset replied. "I bet it's got a serious drawback to all those counters it was amassing. Best guess, Pegasus would have lost life points if Flash found a way to destroy it." She frowned. "Maybe if he had destroyed it last turn, Pegasus would have lost."

"Next, I activate the Dark Door I regained from you." The Spell appeared, Flash frowning at it.

"Seriously? What do you have against attacking more than once? I get I was the one using it before, but why have it in the deck?"

"What can I say? This just feels right. When Duel Monsters was first released, you were only allowed to attack once per turn. It was Kaiba that added the multi-attack rule. But I'm sure the great Flash Sentry won't have a problem, using some of the older rules."

"I've got no problem with it."

"Then you won't have a problem with this!" Pegasus activated another card. "I activate the Black Illusion Ritual Card." Flash gasped, as a giant bronze pot appeared with two torch lamps on either side of it and an eye in the middle of it. "With this, I can discard my monsters in order to Ritual Summon. So I discard my Level Three Toon Mouse." The monster in question appeared before getting sucked into the pot.

Adagio: "This isn't going to be good. What could he be trying to summon?"

The pot lifted into the air and as it did, it looked like something was growing inside of it. Something that made the pot expand and morph into a spherical shape. Veins appeared around it, as the eye glowed and the pot changed colour. "I RITUAL SUMMON!" The pots transformation was complete and from out of it, a blue and white monster appeared with large wings, clawed arms and a long neck that ended in a round orbular head that held a golden eye in the centre. "RELINQUISHED!" (A0/D0/L1)

Flash stared at the monster, which he noticed was in DEF Position. The monster must have some kind of ability that made it dangerous, but what could it be? And why was it in DEF Mode?

"I activate my Relinquished special ability." The strange mouth-like organ in its stomach, began to open. As it did, a strange sucking force appeared that began to draw Flash's monster towards it.

"Magna Bull!" Flash gasped, seeing his monster being dragged towards Relinquished. And as it was, it suddenly shrank down and pulled into the mouth. "What are you doing?"

"Relinquished has a rather special power. The ability to steal a monster from your field and equip it to himself." Flash could hardly believe it. "And not only that. He gains the ATK and DEF power of your monster and can use him as a shield, to protect himself from any attack you throw at him." The wings on Relinquished lowered, as Magna Bull appeared trapped with it. (A2100/D2200/L1)

"No way," Flash gasped.

"Don't worry," Pegasus explained. "He won't be trapped for long." He then played another Spell, which made Flash worry. "Now, I activate Polymerization!" Flash's eyes widened, as Toon Cat appeared. "With it, I fuse my Relinquished with an Effect Monster in order to give birth to his ultimate form!"

Adagio: "This isn't good. Pegasus had a super strong monster on his field, but now he's going to make it become even more powerful. Flash is in trouble."

Toon Cat morphed into an energy, which flew around Relinquished and formed a sphere of light.

Flash checked his Extra Deck and sure enough, Magna Bull had been sent there. Why take control of it, then just sacrifice it for Flash to summon later?

"Prepare yourself, for the ultimate merged monster!" The light faded to reveal a monster that looked like Relinquished, only it was larger and now coloured brown, black and gold. Its head had an Egyptian headdress on it and its chest had a face, with blue eyes and a large mouth. But the most noticeable thing, was the thousands of eyes covering its body. They looked just like the eyes on its head, sticking out of every section of its body. The only area that wasn't covered, was its long whip-like tail. "Millennium Eyes RESTRICT!" (A0/D0/L1)

Flash could only stare at the monster, as he tried to figure out what made it so special. A hard to summon monster like this, with now ATK or DEF, had to have an incredible effect.

"Get ready, Flash Boy. Next turn, Restrict will make you wish you were never born."

At Duel Academy, Yona stared up at the super powered Fusion monster and gulped. If she couldn't find a way to beat that thing, it was only gotta get worse for her.

"Yona need good card, or in deep trouble." She drew her card and frowned before placing it face down. "Yona end turn."

Aria: "Oh! Yona was hoping for something that could save her from Syrus' dragon, but had no luck. Does this mean Yona's Cyberse Tournament journey ends here?"

"It's my turn!" Syrus drew his card and as he did, Cyberdark End Dragon roared. "I now take a monster from your graveyard and Equip it to my Dragon!" A portal opened and from it, Wild Smasher appeared and flew into another of Cyber End's mouths. Cables connected to the Xyz Monster, ready to power it up. But Yona was ready.

"Trap, open!" Her face down flipped up, "Threatening Roar!" A mighty roar filled the air, causing Syrus to cry out as he was almost deafened.

Aria: "Lucky Yona. She was able to stop Cyberdark End's attack without directly affecting it, since Threatening Roar targets the Duelist."

Syrus frowned as he placed a card face down. "I end my turn." The dragon roared, as it prepared itself to unleash a full onslaught in the next turn.

"This is bad," Silverstream gulped.

"It's not all bad," Gallus pointed out. "Look at Syrus' field. His Spell and Trap Zones are full. So he can't equip any more cards to it next turn."

"Maybe," Sunset frowned. "But the two cards he equipped might be enough. If Yona doesn't find a way to end this Duel this turn, it'll all end here and now" They turned to the screen, fearing Yona was done for.

Yona sighed, as she looked down at her Deck.

She had been lucky enough to get that card. But she likely wasn't going to have another way to stop the Dragon next turn. She needed to find a way to destroy it once and for all. "Yona draw!" She did so and when she saw what she had, she realised she had a chance. "Yona play Spell card. Wild Draw!"

Aria: "Oh. That's a risky move. Wild Draw lets her draw five new cards. But during her end phase, she'll take five hundred points of damage for every card in her hand."

Yona drew five cards, adding them to her two other cards. Currently, she was risking thirty five hundred points of damage. If she couldn't find a way to win this Duel, she was likely going to lose. "Yona start with Spell Card. Weapon Buster." The Spell appeared and Rampage Smasher looked at its Equip Spell. "This card destroy all cards equipped to monster. Then Yona destroy one card on your field for each one."

Syrus looked nervous and glanced up at the cards equipped to Cyberdark End. But to his surprise, Yona pointed at his other card.

"Yona destroy Syrus face downs!" Rampage Smasher swung his arms around, sending Kunai with Chain and Fire Fist flying. They smashed into the face downs, destroying them.

"No!" Syrus cried, "my Power Wall!" With his Equip Spells gone, Rampage Smasher's ATK power returned to its original number. (A2700/D2400/R5)

"Next, Yona play Wild Gamble." Another Spell appeared, as Yona discarded two cards. "Yona now take look at top five cards of Deck and add one to Yona's hand."

Aria: "Clearly, Yona's trying to get to a certain card. Will she find the one she needs? Or is she just clutching as straws?"

The top five cards flew off the top of Yona's deck, the girl looking through them all and seeing one. "That one." She grabbed it, as the other four were shuffled back into her hand. "Yona almost have everything she need."

"What more could she be looking for?" Syrus asked. "There's no way she can make her monster stronger than mine. Especially since she got rid of her Equip Spells." He then smiled. "Or maybe, she's seeing all the angles. She doesn't think she can win, she knows. Alright, what have you got planned?"

"Let Yona show you!" She played her card, then Discarded another card. "Yona send card to Graveyard to play, Monster Reincarnation!"

Aria: "Yona's bringing back one of her monsters. But which one. And how will she be able to overcome Cyberdark End with only monster monster?"

"Yona bring Berserking Archer back to hand." The card reappeared and she grabbed it, only to then slap it down on the field. "And she now summon Archer!" In a flash of light, the bow wielding cave man appeared with an arrow notched. (A1400/D1300/L4)

"Why bring him back? He's not strong enough to defeat my dragon."

"Yona know that," she smiled. "Yona know beating dragon not possible, so she decided not bother trying."

"What?"

"Instead, Yona focus on Syrus weakness. Life Points!" Syrus slowly put the pieces together.

"Don't tell me!"

"Yona discard card from hand!" She did so, "that let Archer hit Syrus with two hundred damage!" Syrus and everyone watching's eyes went wide, as the archer pulled his arrow back. And before Syrus could say anything, the arrow was sent flying towards Syrus.

The blue haired individual smiled. "Not bad." With that, the arrow sailed past his monster and hit him in the chest. "Augh!"

Yona: 1300 (Winner)
Syrus: 0

Aria: "Yona's done it. Despite facing such a powerful monster, she managed to defeat Syrus and earn her way into the Semi-Finals of the Cyberse Tournament. Things were looking tough for her at a few spots, but she managed to pull through against the Cyberoid Duelist."

Yona stepped towards Syrus, who groaned as he began to sit up.

She held out a hand and Syrus happily took it, the taller man being pulled to his feet. "Thanks." He brushed himself off and wiped his glasses. "Aw, man. I can't believe I lost. That was kinda nuts. But really fun too."

"Yona enjoy Duel," she told him. "Close call, but Yona manage win in end."

"Yeah, you did." He nodded. "The way you won like that. Reminded me of an old friend. He Dueled some seriously powerful opponents, almost losing a bunch of times. But in the end, he managed to win almost every time. And he did it with a smile on his face." Yona smiled, making Syrus smile. "Just like that."

"Yona continue Dueling. And continue smiling whilst she Duels."

"That's what I like to hear. You've got a serious talent. Obviously, you know the difference between knowing how to use a card and knowing how to play it. Even though they seem to be the same, they're a thousand miles apart." With that, he began to turn away. "Remember that. It'll serve you well in the battles to come."

Yona nodded, as Syrus began to walk away. He eventually stepped through the door of Duel Academy, disappearing inside as Yona stood there out the front.

She remained there for a few more seconds, until a light appeared beside her. She smiled and stepped through it, joining Smolder and Spike in the Semi-Finals. She had no idea what was waiting for her, but she couldn't wait to find out.

"She did it!" Silverstream cheered, "I knew she could do it."

"It was a close one," Sunset nodded. "She would have lost if her Xyz Monster's effect went against her. She really likes using luck based strategies, huh?"

"She comes from a place that's really connected to nature," Ocellus explained. "They believe there that in order to succeed, you need to be able to handle anything life throws at you. Nature is a random thing that can change in the blink of an eye. If you can't adapt to when things don't go your way, you'll never survive. That's what her home believes."

"Makes sense," Fizzlepop nodded. "So she's constantly testing herself, by having her Deck work so that it could backfire at any moment. The trick isn't to have things go right for you. It's to be ready when things don't go right."

"Yup," Sandbar agreed. "She's always Dueled that way. Sometimes it works in her favour and sometimes it doesn't."

"She's been lucky," Wallflower stated. "But if she's not careful, that luck's gonna run out for her when she's in a tight spot." They nodded, having seen times when that had happened. But they believed in Yona. She could turn any bad situation around.

"Now there's just one left," Trixie pointed out. And he might be in more danger than anyone else in this tournament." T hey turned back to the Duel, as Flash found himself facing off against a strange yet dangerous opponent.

"Get ready, Flash Boy. Next turn, Restrict will make you wish you were never born."

Flash glared at the monster, wondering what kind of powers it might have. But he wasn't worried. He just needed to get his Pendulum Scale back up and he could summon Flash Heart again.

However, Pegasus had other plans and played one final card. "Go, Card Destruction!" Flash gasped, as Pegasus discarded his one card and drew another. "Go ahead Flash. Time to start anew."

Flash frowned and discarded his five cards, hoping to get at least two that could help him Pendulum Summon.

He drew his four cards and found only one Pendulum Card, Pegasus noticing this and laughing. "Didn't get what you were hoping for? What a shame. What will you do?" He ended his turn and Flash frowned at him.

Adagio: "Flash is in trouble. If he can't summon a monster, he might find himself getting a direct attack next turn. What will he do?"

"It's my turn." Flash drew his card and when he saw it, he smiled. "Yes." He held it and another card up. "I reset the Pendulum Scale, with scale one Magna Caster Lunara and scale eight, Magna Caster Solaris!" The pillars of light appeared, as his two Pendulum magicians flew up into them. As they did, the portal began to form. "Cut through space time and carve the arc of victory!" The portal opened. "I PENDULUM SUMMON!"

Two lights shot out of the portal and exploded, revealing Flash's monsters. "Stampede, Charge Horn Magna Bull!" (A2100/D2200/L6/P4)

"Shine your light of victory, Flash Heart Dragon...X!" (A2500/D2000/L7/P4)

Pegasus smiled, as Flash Heart pointed at Restrict. "Say goodbye to your ultimate merged monster. Flash Heart X, banish that thing to the furthest dimension you can find!"

"I think not!" Pegasus announced, as the eyes on his monster suddenly started growing. "I activate my Restrict's ultimate ability. Millennium Gaze!" The eyes all unleashed a beam of light, which the monster directed towards Flash Heart. As soon as they hit him, he flinched and went limp.

"Flash Heart!" Flash cried, seeing his monster's ability stop. "What happened?"

"Whenever a monster's effect activates, Restrict can negate that ability. And then, he can absorb a monster on your field or in your graveyard." With that, Flash Heart moved forward like he was in a trance. Flash could only watch in horror, as Flash Heart was drawn towards Restrict.

The mouth in its stomach then opened, sucking Flash Heart inside the same way Relinquished had with Magna Bull. Soon enough, Flash Heart Dragon was pulled in and disappeared. And when Restrict lowered its left wing, Flash Heart's upper body, head and upper arms appeared from out of it. (A2500/D2000/L1)

"No way." Flash couldn't believe that he had lost his best monster yet again. This was a nightmare.

"When I told you Restrict would make you regret being born next turn, I didn't mean my next turn." Pegasus laughed. "Once again, your dragon's power is mine to control." Flash frowned, as Flash Heart struggled against his grip. "And every time you try and use a monster's effect, I'll get to negate it and take another powerful monster for myself. Keep it up and eventually, my monster will have more ATK and DEF points than any monster that ever existed."

Flash glared at him, checking his hand and placing two cards face down before ending his turn.

Adagio: "Things aren't looking good for Flash. Just when he managed to get rid of Pegasus' Toon Monsters, Pegasus summons a monster that once again stole his best card away from him. How will Flash save himself from defeat now?"

Yona continued down the long tunnel and when she reached the other side of it, she stepped through the light and heard a loud splashing sound.

She was worried the tunnel had just sent her back to where she had come out before, meaning she would need to Duel Syrus all over again. But as her eyes adjusted, she looked around and saw she was standing on a rock surrounded with water.

Another rock wasn't too far away, along with another and another. Multiple rocks were sticking out of the water, each one of different sizes and shapes. Yona could see a ship in the distance, which was sailing across the horizon. She wondered if she should head in that direction, but she felt like she should stay on the islands. There was no telling what was waiting for her on that ship. Possibly pirates.

Instead, Yona saw a larger island off in the distance and chose to head in that direction. She took several steps back before racing forward and leaping towards another rock, managing to get there without much issue. One rock down, several more to go.

But as she ran to jump to the next one, she didn't notice something was watching her from the depths. Something big with bright red eyes.

Author's Note

Yona did it. And against a really strong monster. Just goes to show, there are ways to win without being ultra powerful. Now Flash has defeated the Toon monsters, he'll need to find a way to defeat Pegasus' other archetype. How will he manage that? Only time will tell.
