Episode 21: A Malefic Turn of Events

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

In the city of Canterlot, a large group of military were beginning to fill the streets.

The reason was because of something that had happened the previous day, when the Kamen Riders walked into a police station. It had certainly been a surprise for the officers, who asked how they could help the city's heroes. They got their answers when Morphic had asked them to help save the city.

Now a large group of police and military officials, were filling a large section of the city's park. This was the largest space they could find to fill with the large force, making it the best location for them to discuss the details of the plan.

Morphic was standing on a bench, having just finished explaining everything to them. "And that's what's going down. If we don't destroy at least one of these devices, the Mimics will be able to turn this entire city into their own personal base of operations."

"You can't be serious," one of the cops cried. "Why haven't you done anything about this?"

"What do you think we've been doing?" Morphic asked. "Playing street hockey? We've tried to protect the areas that are being targeted. But there's only so much three Riders can do. That's why we need your help."

"Alright," one of the high ranking soldiers nodded. "I can understand that. And honestly, we've been itching to help fight against these monsters ever since we learned about them. But how are we supposed to fight them? From what we've heard, normal weapons don't work against Mimics."

"Maybe you could share your technology with us," a cop pointed at Morphic's driver. "Then we could all wear special suits like that."

"I'm afraid it's not that simple," Morphic told them. "Only a special type of person can become a Kamen Rider. Only three have been found so far, so the rest of you can't become one. However, we have something that should allow us to even the odds against the Mimics."

The soldiers watched as a portal formed in front of Morphic before moving sideways. As it did, objects appeared from out of the portal. Tables with multiple objects on them. The same gun-like weapons Corvyn had given Sunset and the others.

The portal did a complete circle of the crowd, creating a ring of tables with the weapons on them. The soldiers moved towards them and picked the devices up, one of them activating it and seeing the energy flowing between the two ends.

"These devices will allow you to fight against the Mimicreeps the Mimics will be sending. And hopefully, do a little bit of damage against the actual Mimics." The soldiers looked impressed by this, as another portal appeared and dropped off a bunch of targets. "These targets have been specially reinforced to withstand the energy. I'm sure you won't take long to master aiming these things. Just be careful. They have quite the kickback."

One soldier stepped up and pointed the weapon at the target before firing, unleashing an energy blast that almost knocked him off his feet.

The blast flew at the target and hit the outer edge of it, as more soldiers appeared. Morphic nodded, glad to see things going well. "Hey," a cop then asked. "Where are the other two? Shifter and that new guy?"

"Changeling. They're getting ready for the next fight."

Back in the junkyard, Shifter and Changeling were training.

Twilight, Pharynx and Sunset were also there, watching as Shifter blocked both Changeling's blades with his Shift Strike's blade mode before kicking him back. With each fight, Changeling was getting stronger and stronger. But even so, the others weren't sure it would be enough to beat the Mimics when the time came.

"You okay?" Shifter asked, seeing Changeling panting. The Rider nodded, but had to bend over to really get his breath back. "Let's take a break." Changeling nodded and the two quickly removed their Mimicores, moving over to where the others were as they changed back.

As Flash grabbed his water bottle, he heard a voice in the back of his head.

"You know this is pointless, right?" Flash frowned as he suddenly found himself back in his mind space, his living room surrounding him with Sheave still on the ground. "Doesn't matter how much you train. You're going to lose eventually."

"No way," Flash told him sternly. "We know how those Doom Pillars work. We just gotta break one and they all become useless."

"Maybe," Sheave smirked. "But even if you manage to do that, you won't win. Our master has many plans." Flash was reminded of the figure he had seen when he was captured. The leader of the Mimics who was hiding in shadows. "Humans are so fragile. So easy to destroy and hard to create. Even if you have all those soldiers fighting with you, they won't last long. And when they die, it'll be because you weren't strong enough."

"Would you just shut up!" Flash cried, accidentally speaking out loud as he found himself back in the junk yard.

Twilight, Thorax, Sunset and Pharynx turned to him and looked confused, as Flash blushed and looked away. "Are you okay?" Sunset asked, but Flash said nothing. "You've been a little distracted lately."

"And you look tired," Thorax pointed out. "Are you sleeping alright?"

"I'm fine," Flash told them. But the girls could tell he was.

"Flash," Twilight moved towards him, "what's wrong? You promised to stop keeping secrets from us." Flash sighed, clearly not going to be able to talk his way out of this.

"I've been...conversing with someone." He tapped his head, "in here." The others looked confused, but Twilight seemed to catch on.

"The Mimic. You're talking with the Mimic that tried to replace you?"

"Yeah," Flash nodded. "It happened after we learned what we are. Ever since, I've been able to talk with Sheave. And he's been able to talk with me. And he won't stop talking."

"This sounds bad," Sunset frowned. "What if he's trying to take over?"

"No. He's still stuck. He just won't shut up, which makes getting a good night's sleep difficult." The others frowned, as Twilight spoke up.

"You need to tell Corvyn. This could mean there's a fault with your Driver. You need to make sure it's working properly, or it could be big trouble."

"I don't think it's that bad." Flash knew he should probably have Corvyn look over his Driver, but something inside him made him worry he might find something bad that he couldn't fix.

"Flash," Sunset crossed her arms, "come on. You need to make sure nothing's wrong." Flash sighed.

"Fine. But I'm sure it's just gonna be a waste of time. Sheave's locked up tight. He's not gonna be getting control of my body, ever." He frowned as something. "No, you're not." He started getting angry, "over my dead body." He rolled his eyes, "how can it be arranged? Doesn't killing me mean you lose your host?"

The others shared a concerned look, a little freaked out by how Flash was acting.

In the Mimic Lair, Maya stared at the device her master had given her.

The other Mimics were just as confused by it, the lot wondering exactly what it was supposed to do. "It's clearly a power source," Frill stated. "But how is that supposed to help you get your spawn back?"

"Are you questioning the master?" High asked, with Frill shaking his head.

"No, of course not. I just wish I had more information. He told us to use this on Torin. But what will happen when we do? What if that power overloads him and Maya's spawn is destroyed?" Maya frowned, clearly worried that might happen.

"I doubt the master would do that," High stated. "Even if this thing could do that, he'd probably tell us to use it on Shifter or Morphic. I don't know what this thing does, but I trust our master. He's led us through many campaigns, in many universes. If he says this'll help us, it will."

Greye nodded, whilst Frill and Maya stared at the device in hand. They also nodded, knowing this device was their best shot at freeing Torin. But that didn't stop them from being anxious about it.

"Anyway," Greye stated, "we all know what we're doing." The Mimics nodded. "Then let's do this."

Shining stepped through the portal he had recently learned to open.

When he did, he spotted Thorax, Pharynx, Corvyn and the Rainbooms. The lot of them were standing around a chair, which Flash was currently sitting in. "Hey," he stepped up to see Corvyn holding a cable with a USB-like plug on the end. "What's going on?"

Twilight frowned. "it turns out Flash has been communicating with his Mimic." Shining looked shocked, the Rider turning to Flash as he rolled his eyes.

"Flash. What the heck?"

"It's not that serious," Flash replied. "He's still locked up. He's just able to talk to me now. And honestly, that's bad enough. But it doesn't mean anything."

"I'll be the judge of that," Corvyn stated as he somehow caused Flash's Driver to appear. He then placed the plug onto the top of it, where an opening appeared that fit the device perfectly. "This should allow me to do a full system analysis. If something's wrong, this will let me find it. But until then, you're not going anywhere."

"What if something's wrong?" Fluttershy frowned. "Could the Mimic escape and take him over?"

"Don't worry," Corvyn assured her. "Even if something was wrong, the Driver has a bunch of safeguards and firewalls. The Mimic isn't going anywhere." Everyone nodded, as Thorax turned to Shining.

"How's everything going with the soldiers?"

"Good. They've got the hang of the weapons and they're being deployed to the spots the Doom Pillars are located. If the Mimics show up, the soldiers should be able to hold them off until we get there."

"Good," Twilight sighed. "I guess we should just rest and get ready to act." They nodded, as Corvyn kept scanning the Driver. Hopefully, he would find a way to stop Sheave from talking to Flash and allow the teen to rest

All over Canterlot, the police and military were stations in the five spots the Mimics would soon attack.

Each area had a group of fifteen to twenty soldiers, each armed with a blaster. They were constantly on guard, ready to fight as soon as the Mimics. But the soldiers didn't look so sure they were going to actually fight. "Are we sure the Riders know what they're doing?" One asked.

"They haven't been wrong so far." This group was currently in a residential area, surrounded by houses. "If they're right, the Mimics will show up here and try to plant something in the ground. If they succeed, this city will be ruined."

Another of the soldiers was studying the blaster they had all been armed with. The device truly amazed them, the energy it shot like nothing they had seen before. Even if the Mimics didn't show up, having such a weapon would certainly come in handy overseas.

It was in that moment that a portal suddenly opened up in the middle of the road.

The soldiers all stood to attention, knowing it could be the Rider and not wanting to shoot. But then, a humanoid monster stepped out and the soldiers realised the fight had begun.

Greye stared at the soldiers and smiled, seeing the humans armed with weapons he had never seen them use before. "This could be interesting."

That wasn't the only area of town that had a portal opening.

In another area, a parking lot surrounded by shops, another portal opened and High stepped through. She was also greeted by a bunch of soldiers, who aimed their new weapons at her. "Oh. You think you're brave, protecting this spot." She snapped her claws and a bunch of Mimicreeps leapt out of the portal behind her.

They charged, but the army started to open fire. The weapons they had been given were working, destroying the Mimicreeps.

But the Mimic General was barely phased by them. "So you humans managed to upgrade," High chuckled. "Impressive." A laser flew towards her, "but not that impressive." She unleashed a blast of lightning, which blocked the laser as her body sparked.

She shot forward, as many of her Mimicreeps were destroyed. And when she reached the humans, she rammed through several and sent them flying.

The men screamed, as they crashed into the ground. The others kept firing, but she wasn't even phased by them and slashed her claws at them. More lightning flew off and struck them, knocking them back. She chuckled, happy seeing the humans brought to their knees. "Pathetic."

Greye was having just as easy a time as High.

A bunch of Mimicreeps were also with him and as the soldiers fought against them, blowing them to sludge, they did their best to protect the spot that the Doom Pillar needed to go. "No matter what happens, we can't let them through!" A soldier fired at Greye, but he used his folded up fan to bat the laser away.

One soldier broke ranks and charged at Greye, blasting a few Mimicreeps until he reached the Mimic.

But Greye simply reached out and grabbed him by the neck, lifted him up and slammed him down into the ground. The soldier screamed as something broke, whilst a few more fired at Greye. But the peacock Mimic jumped over the lasers whilst swinging both his fans around.

The energy blades flew down and slammed into the ground around the soldiers, exploding and causing them all to be blown away.

Greye chuckled as he landed, the few remaining soldiers running in to try and stop him. As they did, they prayed the Riders would be there soon.

In his lab, Corvyn's alarm alerted them all.

He ran to the map and found the two spots glowing. "We've got two hits." He turned to the Riders, who nodded as Flash was about to remove the cable from his Driver. "Oh no you don't. I'm still not done doing the analysis on your Driver. You're staying there." Flash frowned, but Shining turned to him.

"Stay here. One of us needs to hold back, if the Mimics show up somewhere else. Let us handle this." Flash sighed, but nodded as Shining and Thorax summoned their Drivers and took out their Mimicores.

"TRI-HORN!/SLASH!"

They quickly placed them in the Drivers and as the portals formed in front of them, they struck a pose. "HENSHIN!" They slammed the Drivers shut, activating them as the portals moved towards them.

"MIMIC! TRICERATOPS!"

"MIMIC! MANTIS!" The slime flew out the pipes and formed the cocoon around the Riders, as the portals flew over them and they were transported to the battlefield.

Greye cut another soldier down, as the portal suddenly appeared.

He looked around and saw the cocoon arrive before it shattered, revealing Morphic with the Riders racing forward as the armor formed on his body and his Driver spoke. "The charging force of three horns, triple the destructive power."

"Raaaah!" Morphic reached Greye and threw a punch, sending the Mimic flying until he crashed into the ground.

"Augh!" He groaned, as the Rider got ready to attack again. "Annoying pest." He picked himself up and as he did, Morphic punched the air and sent lasers flying at him. All he could do was defend using his fans, deflecting the lasers as best her could. But several managed to get through and hit him, with Morphic getting in close.

The soldiers could do nothing but watch, as Morphic and Greye fought in close quarters. They were all amazed, wishing they could have power like that. They might have been able to stand against the Mimicreeps, but they hadn't stood a chance against a real Mimic. If only they could.

In the other area, High had finished taking out the soldiers that had tried to stop her.

She laughed, as the last soldier fell to the ground. "Too easy." However, before she could move to the spot the Doom Pillar needed to go, a light made her look around and see a portal appeared before spitting out a cocoon. Said cocoon quickly began to crack before shattering. "So there's Maya's spawn." She watched as the armor formed on his body, his blades appearing in hand as his Driver spoke.

"Bladed arms that slice through anything, cutting down the evils of the world!"

Changeling stared High down before raising his sword. "Let's do this!" He charged forward and High chuckled before her body sparked and she shot forward, intending to race past him and do some damage. But before she struck Changeling leapt into the air at the last moment.

He spun and slashed at High, hitting her and causing the Mimic to flinch as the blades cut into her.

Changeling landed and skid along the ground, whilst High clutched her chest and groaned. "You've been training." Changeling smirked, as she began to spark up. "But it won't be enough." With that, she flew into a blur of motion that flew in multiple different directions.

Changeling tried to follow her, but she was just too fast. And eventually, he was rammed into from behind and sent flying.

"GYAH!" He hit the ground and let out a moan, as High skidded to a stop. She smirked and unleashed a bolt of lightning, but Changeling managed to get up and block it with his swords.

As soon as the lightning stopped, Changeling took out his bike and threw it behind him. It quickly grew into its larger form and landed, Changeling back-flipping onto it before revving the engine. "You think that's gonna help you?" High charged and Changeling drove forward, managing to pick up just as much speed as her.

This allowed him to keep up and the pair started moving around the place and incredible speed.

But whilst Changeling was just as fast, High was more manoeuvrable and was able to avoid the many attacks thrown her way. Changeling knew this wouldn't be easy. But he had to try. "I will change my fate's design."

Back in the other battlefield, Greye leapt back as he swung his fans through the air.

The blade of energy flew towards Morphic, but the Rider simply punched it and unleashed a laser that destroyed the attack. Greye growled as he landed, hating how powerful these Riders had become. "Don't get cocky." He charged, as Morphic fired several lasers at once. "We Mimics are the ultimate life forms!" He dodged the lasers before getting close to Morphic, attempting to cut at his chest.

But Morphic raised his arms and used them to shield himself. "Please. Don't make me laugh!" He pushed the fans back before throwing a punch into Greye's chest, blasting him.

He screamed as he was knocked back, crashing into the ground as his chest smoked.

"I don't care how powerful you Mimics think you are. I'm not gonna let you destroy my world. Me or the other Riders. We're taking you down."

"You think you're the first world that's given us trouble?" Greye picked himself up. "Other worlds have resisted, but they all went the same. As soon as we get the Doom Pillars up and running, nothing will stop us."

"Wrong," Morphic stated. "You're not putting any more of those things up. And we're gonna find a way to get rid of the ones you've already activated." He charged and as Greye fired a blast of energy at him, Morphic managed to dodge at the last moment before propelling himself forward and launching a flying kick into his chest.

The attack blasted Greye backwards and Morphic landed before punching the ground.

This sent a blast of energy into the ground and sent it towards Greye, appearing just as he was picking himself up. And before the Mimic could respond, the ground beneath his feet exploded. "GYAH!" He was sent flying up, as several explosions occurred on his body.

He hit the ground and Morphic cracked his knuckles, ready to finish this.

Back with Changeling, he kept racing around in an attempt to hit High.

As the Mimic ran forward and prepared to slash at him, Changeling suddenly leapt up off his bike and she missed. "Raaah!" He summoned his blades and flew down to slash at her, High barely managing to use her claws to block.

The pair pushed at one another before High managed to overpower Changeling and threw him back, the Rider managing to land back on his bike and keep driving. But before Changeling could spin around, a web suddenly shot out and struck his front wheel.

"WOW!" He found his bike jerking forward and he was thrown off it, hitting the ground with the soldiers flinching.

Changeling groaned as he picked himself up, as he heard footsteps and looked around to see Maya moving towards him. High zipped up beside her, "he's all yours." Maya nodded, as High turned her attention back to where the Doom Pillar was located.

Changeling raised his swords. "Just leave me alone. You already proved you can't destroy me, so why bother."

"I might not be able to bring myself to destroy you," Maya got into a fighting stance. "But I won't allow my own spawn to get in my way." She smiled. "Besides, I have a way to make you see reason." Changeling tilted his head, as Maya charged forward and attacked.

As the mother and son fought, High got closer to the spot she needed the Doom Pillar. But the soldiers she had knocked down had recovered enough to attack again. But with another wave of lightning, the Mimic knocked them flying back.

She chuckled, expecting to plant the Doom Pillar without issue.

But before she could, another portal opened up and the seven Rainbooms leapt out. "Seriously? I was expecting Shifter or Morphic. Not the peanut gallery." She unleashed a blast of lightning, but Rarity put up a shield that stopped the attack dead.

Twilight then grabbed part of the destroyed road before throwing it at High, only for the Mimic to leap to the side.

Pinkie gave Rainbow and Applejack a pair of cupcakes and when Rarity dropped the shield, Rainbow raced forward and threw the cupcake at the monster before she could react. Applejack threw hers with all her strength and High unleashed a wave of lightning, which hit both treats and caused them to explode before they hit her.

Sunset and Fluttershy had their own weapons and fired, but they didn't hurt High either.

In the lab, Flash, Corvyn and Pharynx were watching the fight whilst Flash was still hooked up.

"Come on," Flash frowned at Corvyn. "How much longer until I can unplug from this thing?" Corvyn said nothing and kept working on the computer. "What if Frill shows up? Somebody needs to be ready."

"If you stopped distracting me, this would go a lot quicker." Flash frowned, as Sheave spoke in his head.

"I hope you don't expect to get rid of me. I've waited a long time to finally be able to talk and I'm not giving that up. You're gonna have to listen to me for as long as I want."

"No way," Flash told him. "I'm getting you out of my head once and for all. Even if I have to stay hooked up to the machine for a while." Corvyn and Pharynx frowned, clearly not feeling happy hearing him have a talk with himself.

Corvyn's machine beeped and he sighed. "Nothing. As far as I can tell, the Driver's working perfectly."

"So why can I hear Sheave in my head?" Flash asked, as Corvyn unplugged the chord from his Driver. "I haven't had a good night's sleep since he showed up."

"I don't know," Corvyn told him. "It's not like I have data about this. You and Shining are the first humans to ever control a Mimic body, as far as I can tell. It's possible this is just a natural part of what happens in this situation. The Driver is designed to keep the Mimic from controlling you. Not speaking to you. I can't do anything to change it without risking Sheave getting control."

Flash sighed, as he kept watching the fights. If they needed him, he would jump in to help. Even if Sheave was driving him nuts in his head.

Greye was in a seriously bad state, as he laid on the ground whilst Morphic approached.

As he pushed himself up, Morphic looked ready to perform his finishing attack. "It's over. I'm freeing your host." Greye growled, as he realised he wouldn't be able to win this fight. As such, it was time for plan B.

"I don't think so." A portal opened up and several Mimicreeps leapt out. They got between him and Morphic and charged, but Morphic easily dealt with them by punching their lights out. He didn't even need his lasers, as his Tri-Horn Form's power was enough to make them go splat.

The soldiers around him also jumped into action, firing their weapons at the monsters and destroying them. This quickly freed Morphic up, allowing him to chase after Greye. But the Mimic ran into the portal and it disappeared before Morphic could get to him.

He sighed, but turned to the spot where the Doom Pillar was supposed to go. It was Pillar free and hopefully, it would stay that way for the foreseeable future. "I hope Thorax is doing okay."

Back with Changeling and Maya, the Rider kept fighting but Maya seemed to have more of a reason to win.

Every time he tried to slash, punch or kick her, she managed to block or dodge before dealing her own attack to him. "Gyah!" He was knocked back, but managed to maintain his balance before charging again. "Raaaah!" He swung both his blades at her and got a few cuts in, Maya flinching but managing to endure them.

She then fired a blast of web that hit him in the helmet.

Changeling yelled out, staggering back as he tried to get the stuff off of him. But Maya threw a punch right at him and he was knocked back.

The Rainbooms saw this and tried to run to help, but High got between them and unleashed a wave of purple lightning. Rarity put up a shield, but this kept them trapped where they were. "Do it!" High yelled, as Maya moved towards her.

"Don't worry, Torin." She took something out, "this will all be over soon." Changeling finally managed to pull the webbing off and saw some kind of strange device in her hand. A dark screen with a long arm on it.

"What is that?" He asked, as Maya smiled.

"A Maleficore. And with it, you will be free." Changeling moved away, but he quickly found himself cornered. He didn't like what this was.

But before she could get close, another portal suddenly opened up. And from out of it, Shifter flew out on his bike. The Strike Form Rider raced towards Maya at high speed and before she could react, he rammed into her and she screamed out as she was thrown back.

She hit the ground close to High, the Mimic stopping and turning to her. "You okay?" She helped Maya up, as the pair glared at the Rider.

Shifter turned to Changeling, "you good?" Changeling nodded, as Flash turned back to the Mimics. It was then that Shifter noticed something on the ground. The device Maya had been carrying. "What's that?" He got off his bike and moved over to it, reaching down to pick it up. But as he did, Corvyn's voice exploded through his helmet.

"DON'T TOUCH IT!" But it was too late. Shifter's hands curled around the device and as soon as it did, the device activated and suddenly unleashed a wave of dark energy.

That energy passed over Shifter. But when it hit everyone else, they were knocked backwards with cries of pain. The humans all hit the ground and were knocked unconscious, as Changeling, Maya and High grunted but managed to stay awake.

Shifter suddenly went ridged, as the device unleashed a bolt of lightning that struck his Driver.

The Rider's suit suddenly vanished, Flash standing there as the draw of his Driver opened up. Changelings and the Mimics picked themselves up, as the Maleficore flew out of Flash's hand. It was still connected to the driver by the dark energy, which moved up to the Driver until it reached the top. And there, the slot in the top opened up.

In his lab, Corvyn watched in shock as the Maleficore flew up and slotted into the opening.

"NO!" Maya cried, as Flash finally moved. He reached up and pressed the button on his Mimicore, activating it. But when it spoke, the voice sounded more sinister.

"MALEFIC STRIKE!"

Flash struck his usual pose and yelled out, "HENSHIN!" He then slammed his Driver door shut. As he did, the Maleficore also moved. The hinges on it allowed the Maleficore to fold forward whilst still connected to the top. Eventually, the black screen covered the glass window that the Mimicore could be seen through. This caused the orange lights that showed the lightning bug to appear black, as the Driver began to spark.

"MIMIC! LIGHTNING BUG!" These sparks also flew around Flash's body, the teen screaming as he was zapped. Changeling and Corvyn all grew worried, as Flash let out a mighty cry of agony whilst the pipes unleashed the slime. Only now, the slime was much darker

"AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRHHHHHHHHHH!" The slime rained down on him and quickly solidified into a dark cocoon, which kept sparking whilst Maya and High picked themselves up.

"No!" Maya cried, "that wasn't meant for him!" Suddenly, the amber began to crack before exploding off the Rider. In doing so, it revealed a new form for him.

It was just like his standard suit, only the lines on his body were pure black and melded with the rest of his suit. The armour then shot onto his body and morphed until they resembled his Strike Form, but something was different. Instead of turning orange, the amber turned as pitch black as the rest of his suit. When it solidified, he was entirely black and had an air of malevolence to him. The only bit of colour on his were his eyes, which turned the same orange colour that he normally had on his Strike suit.

As the armor settled, the Driver's lights turned black and it spoke in the sinister voice. "Darkness, engulfs all that stands within it. Unlimited power awakens in the shadows!"

Shifter simply stood there, as if he was simply daydreaming.

The Mimics felt a little worried, but Maya strode forward. "Give me that back! It wasn't for you!" She shot out a web, trying to grab the Maleficore, but Shifter caught it before it hit.

The Rider slowly turned his head towards her, Maya getting a bad feeling as he did. He then pulled on the web and Maya found herself getting pulled forward with incredible force, the Mimic screaming as she flew towards him. And as she did, the light on Shifter's right leg glowed purple and unleashed an energy into his boot.

And when she reached him, Shifter spun around and slammed his foot into her chest.

The energy flew into her body and Maya screamed in agony, as she was blasted backwards and crashed into the side of a building. High gasped, whilst Changeling smirked. "Nice."

High growled as she turned back to Shifter, her body sparking as she shot forward. She tried to slash at Shifter, but he managed to catch her by the wrist before throwing his own punch into her chest. The light on his arm glowed and unleashed another blast of energy, which knocked her back as well.

As High crashed down besides Maya, Shifter reached up and pressed down on the Maleficore. Doing so caused the device to spark and make the lights on his Driver blink.

"MALEFIC CLIMAX!"

As Maya and High picked themselves up, Shifter's lights all started glowing before he shot forward. A trail of purple lightning followed behind him, as he flew towards the pair and suddenly raced past them. When he did, the ground beneath the Mimics exploded and they were thrown into the air.

Shifter then leapt up and did several flips, as he flew higher than the Mimics.

He then shot forward and thrust his leg forward, slamming it into Maya which blasted her into High. The energy surrounding the Rider flew through him and into the monsters, zapping them as the kick sent them flying into the ground. And when they landed, an explosion filled the street.

Changeling and had to brace himself, as the explosion shook the area around them.

Shifter landed in front of the fireball, which disappeared to reveal two very badly injured Mimics. Maya and High were bleeding their slime, as the two pushed themselves to their feet and staggered around with little control. "So...powerful." Maya groaned, "so this is the power of the Maleficore."

Changeling cheered, as he ran over to Shifter.

"Dude!" He laughed. "That was awesome." But as he reached out to clap Shifter on the back, the Rider spun around and punched him right in the chest.

The Mimics were shocked by this, Changeling screaming as he was blown backwards and hit the ground. He moaned, clutching his chest and wishing he had thicker armor. He then picked himself up and stared at Shifter, "what did you do that for?" Shifter moved towards him and Changeling gulped, quickly rolling back to his feet as Shifter's lights glowed again. "Stay back!" But Shifter didn't listen.

It was at this moment that the Rainbooms and military were starting to come around and as they did, the first thing they heard were Changeling's cries of pain.

Everyone opened their eyes and saw two figures fighting. Correction, one of them was fighting. The other was trying to simply stay in one piece. "Flash?" Twilight groaned, seeing a completely black figure in the shape of Shifter.

The Rider slammed his fist upwards into Changeling's chest and knocked him skywards, the Mantis Rider falling back after a few seconds only to get slammed by another punch. These small but fast strikes kept him airborne, constantly flying up and down with Shifter attacking every time he fell.

He eventually, Shifter spun around and slammed a foot into him. This sent him flying sideways and he crashed into the ground, sparks flying off him as he rolled along the ground.

The Rainbooms were all fully awake now and realised the black suited Rider was Shifter, the girls shocked seeing Flash attacking Thorax. "What are you doing?" Sunset yelled, as their Mimic detectors beeped.

"Girls," Corvyn yelled, "you need to stop Flash."

"What's wrong with him?" Twilight asked, only for Shifter to lift Thorax up to his feet before punching him again.

"There's some kind of device connected to his Driver. It changed him into that dark form and is causing him to go nuts, seeing anything around him as an enemy. You've gotta try and get it off him."

"Right," the girl nodded before Rainbow, Applejack, Pinkie, Rarity and Twilight ran forward. Sunset and Fluttershy stayed back, not sure how they could help. "I hate to do this," Rainbow stated before racing ahead. "But you need a time out!" But as she got in close, Shifter spun in her direction before the light on his arm glowed.

He swung his arm around and the light flew off, forming a wave that smashed into Rainbow. This knocked her backwards, as the wave continued towards the rest of the girls.

Rarity quickly put up a shield, blocking the wave but its power shattered her gems.

She flinched at the impact, whilst Rainbow hit the ground. "Okay," she moaned, "that hurt." She had gotten Shifter's attention and he was now heading towards them, the military around them just standing there befuddled.

They were so focused on Shifter, they had forgotten about the Mimics and didn't notice when High moved over to the spot.

She opened a portal and reached it, pulling out a Doom Pillar that she forced into the ground. This finally caught Sunset's attention, as she saw what she was doing. "STOP!" She raised her weapon and fired, but High unleashed a bolt of lightning that blocked the shot.

The rest of the soldiers saw this and realised they had let the Mimic get their device in place, High activating it as she and Maya defended it.

The rest of the Rainbooms were unable to stop them, too focused with Shifter as he attacked. Applejack tried to grab one of his punches and whilst she was able to, the impact knocked her off balance and allowed Shifter to grab and throw her away.

Pinkie then threw a sprinkle at him and the small explosion it caused didn't even make him flinch, as Rainbow once again tried to get in close. She reached for the Maleficore, but Shifter caught her wrist and twisted it. "AUGH!!" She felt her arm close to break, but Changeling ran in.

"Raaah!" He slashed as Shifter, his blade cutting into his back. But whilst it did knock him forward, Rainbow pulling herself free, it didn't cut him and he spun around. Changeling gulped, but kept his weapons at the ready as Shifter tried to attack.

"Stop!" Twilight cried, grabbing him in her magic. Shifter froze, allowing Changeling to jump back, but he was soon able to break her hold on him. "He's so strong!"

Rarity tried to form a circle of gems around him, which were pressed tight against his body and pinned his arms to his side. But Shifter managed to rip them apart and Rarity gasped, staggering back. "We can't stop him!"

"A'm not giving up!" Applejack cried, running forward again. She wrapped her arms around him and lifted him up, doing her best to keep him from slamming his helmet into her face. But Shifter's lights sparked and unleashed a burst of purple energy, zapping her and making her let him go as she cried out in pain.

She staggered back, as Shifter turned to hit her. But Pinkie threw an entire cupcake at him and the explosion finally knocked him back a few feet.

As she did that, a portal suddenly opened right behind him. "Twilight!" Corvyn cried, "get him through it."

"Got it!" Twilight took a deep breath and with all her strength, she grabbed Shifter before he could get his balance back and threw him into the portal. But as she did, the Doom Pillar activated.

"Yes!" High cheered, seeing the energy field appear around the device. "Four to go!"

In his lab, Corvyn watched Shifter be thrown through the portal.

As soon as he hit the ground, Corvyn held up a device he had just programmed. The same one he had used to force Gule into his human form. "This might sting a bit." He fired and the beam slammed into Shifter, as he began to pick himself up. But as soon as it touched him, his body froze and Shifter couldn't move an inch.

Twilight, Applejack and Rarity leapt through the portal, seeing Shifter frozen. "What are you doing?"

"I'm freezing the suit. But it won't last long. Remove the Mimicores!" The girls nodded and acted fast, Twilight stepping in front of him whilst avoiding the beam. Applejack grabbed his arms and pulled them behind him, whilst Rarity hit the switch on the side to open the draw.

At the same time, Twilight tried to grab the Maleficore. But the device shocked her and she was forced to let go. And as Rarity removed the Mimicore, the Driver deactivated and the suit began to disappear. The Maleficore finally fell off the Driver as it also vanished, hitting the ground and straightening back out.

When Flash was finally freed from the suit, he went limp and fell until Applejack held him. "You okay?" Twilight asked, as the beam disappeared. "Flash?" He let out a moan and slowly, his eyes fluttered open.

"Twilight?" She sighed in relief, as Applejack set him back down on the ground. "Ah!" He clutched his head, "what the heck happened?"

"You were out of control," Rarity told him. "You attacked Thorax and us."

"I know," Flash nodded. "I saw it happening, but I couldn't control my body. And all I could feel was a really intense anger. I'd never felt so mad before."

Corvyn frowned, as he moved over to the Maleficore. "It was because of this." He tried to pick it up, but got zapped when he tried. "Ahh!" He pulled back, as Flash stared at the device. "Whatever this is. It's dangerous."

Flash stared at the device and as soon as he did, the Maleficore flew into the air and Flash's hand held up to catch it.

As he held it, he felt a dark energy flowing through him. He then threw it away, but it stopped in midair and flew back to him. "Get away!" He forced himself up and moved away, but the device kept following him.

"This can't be good," Corvyn frowned. He didn't know what this device was, but he knew it was trouble. They needed to figure out what it was and how to stop it. Before it was too late.

In the Mimic Lair, High and Maya are treating themselves.

They had escaped as soon as the Doom Pillar was activated, the pair both feeling horrible after the beating they had received. High was happy they had succeeded in activating the Doom Pillar, but Maya wasn't.

A portal opened and Greye leapt through it, having clearly just returned from his fight with Morphic. "How'd it go?" High asked, as Greye saw the sorry state they were in.

"Forget about that. What happened to you?"

"They learned how powerful the Maleficore was," Frill explained as he placed some gel on Maya's back. "Except it went to the wrong Rider." Greye frowned, as an alarm sounded.

The lot rushed over to the communicator, as it projected a hologram of their master. "Another Doom Pillar activated. Good work."

High nodded. "Thank you, Master. But there were some...complications."

"Master," Chrysalis looked terrified, "Shifter took the Maleficore and used it. It made him so powerful, we didn't stand a chance against him."

"Shifter? I see." The figure seemed to be thinking about that, then chuckled. "That might just work out in our favour." The Mimics shared a look, wondering why he was so happy. None of them knew it yet, but Flash getting the Maleficore was very fortunate for them. Things were about to change.

Author's Note

Well, some of you knew it was coming. Flash has obtained his dark form. A common trend in more recent years of Kamen Rider. Fang Joker, Black Hazard, Metal Cluster Hopper, Primitive Dragon and probably more. They all had to learn to overcome this power. Will Flash be able to?
