The Ultimatrix Hero
Season 1, Episode 14: Bursting with Potential
Previous ChapterNext ChapterRush hour had descended upon Canterlot and everyone was stuck in their cars, trying to get home.
An ambulance was struck in that traffic, the paramedics inside both looking bored. But their boredom would soon be forgotten, when their radios picked up and the passenger answered. Said passenger was a man in his early twenties, with light grey skin and dark grey air. He was wearing half-moon glasses and looked serious.
"We are on our way," the paramedic announced after hearing the emergency. "Let us go. There was a car crash west of us. A pregnant woman is trapped and needs help."
"I know," the driver nodded as he turned on the siren and lights. "But you seem to be forgetting where we are." The passenger looked around and saw that the cars around them were just as stuck as they were. Even if the drivers wanted to move for the ambulance, there was nowhere they could move to. "It's gonna take us ages to get there. Maybe Flash Sentry and the Plumbers will show up and help."
"I do not trust in maybes." The passenger reached into the back and pulled out a bag, then unbuckled his seat belt. "I will have to run."
"Are you nuts? It's over a mile away." The paramedic didn't say anything and got out. "First. You'll never make it!" He watched his partner run through the traffic until he got onto the sidewalk, then started running down the street. He was certainly making better time than the ambulance, but it was still a long way away.
The man named First ran as fast as he could, but barely got a hundred feet before he felt himself getting tired. But he kept soldiering on and realised he could cut through an alleyway to get there quicker. So he ducked into one and ran as fast as he could, his heart feeling like it was going to explode.
As he got through the alley, he stopped and panted. If he kept going, he would likely feel his heart explode.
However, the thought of the woman who was carrying a child and needed help appeared in his head. And this made him keep going, the paramedic running as fast as he could. And that was when it happened.
Suddenly, sparks of blue lightning appeared around his body. As he ran, the sparks grew stronger and he found himself suddenly feeling less tired. "Huh?" He looked himself over and noticed the sparks, but didn't stop as he ran into another alley.
When he did, he spotted a large fence halfway through the alley that blocked it off. It was over ten meters high, something that was difficult to climb. But First didn't seem worried about it, as he felt his legs were made of iron in that moment. And as he got closer, he leapt up with all of his strength.
He sailed up, jumping higher than a human should possibly be able to jump. And when he reached the top of the fence, he grabbed it and swung down whilst doing several flips.
Landing, he felt no pain and just kept running until he left the alley. And as he made his way across the road, he suddenly heard a car horn and found one speeding at him. But before it could hit, he jumped up and found himself slamming into the side of a building.
But his sudden new agility and strength, allowed him to grab onto the side and pull himself up. The paramedic climbed until he reached the roof, completely shocked by this development. "What is happening to me?" He asked, as he began to run along the roof before leaping to the next one.
Going from roof to roof, he found he arrived at the area of the accident in just under a minute. When he got there, he found a bunch of cars that had slammed into each other. A large crowd had gathered around the accident, but nobody seemed to be doing anything.
First's body kept sparking, as he jumped down and landed without a second thought. He then ran towards the crowd and told everyone to move out of the way. They did so and First heard a woman screaming out for help, the paramedic spotting her inside a car and being trapped by a bunch of other cars.
Running over to it, First grabbed one of the cars and pushed it out of the way without even trying. He then grabbed the door of the woman's car and ripped it off, allowing him to get to her.
The woman looked shocked by his amazing strength, but her injuries quickly made her forget about that. And as First got to work, his sudden superpowers also left his mind as the lightning disappeared. But when he finished saving this woman and her baby, he would think about what he had just done and grow concerned.
He needed to know where this power came from.
The next day.
Clawcer was doing his patrol of the base, making sure everything was as it should be.
He checked the cells to make sure they were working before heading to the science lab, where the Plumber technicians were hard at work making sure the base was fully operational. Then, he made his way down to the main control room.
There, the Plumbers sat at the monitors making sure everything was as it should be.
"Anything to report?" He asked, as the operators shook their heads.
"No sir," one of them replied. "The accident that occurred last night was dealt with by the police. They're currently working on getting that street cleaned up. We can offer them assistance."
"No," Clawcer shook his head, "the police in this city don't get enough action as it is. Let them show they still have uses to the public. If they ask for help, we'll agree. But until then, let's focus on keeping the city safe in our own way." The Plumber nodded and got back to work, as another Plumber spoke up.
"Sir." Clawcer moved over to him. "Someone off the street has just arrived and is asking to see someone who can help him."
"Help him with what?" The Plumber asked that to the receptionist and after a few moments, he replied.
"Apparently, he says he's developed some kind of super power and he's worried he's being affected by all the alien stuff that's been going on." Clawcer seemed surprised by this, but nodded.
"I'll head up and have a talk with him." Clawcer began to scuttle towards the transporter, wondering what the heck this individual was talking about.
An hour later, Flash and Shining had just finished their morning patrol. As Chip parked himself up, the pair headed into the Plumber Base. And before they could head to the transporter, they spotted Clawcer in one of the offices through a door.
Flash stepped up to the Plumber working the front desk. "Hey, what's that all about?"
"Oh," the Plumber smirked, "there's a guy in there that claims he's gained super powers." The pair looked surprised by this. "Apparently, he's a paramedic and he suddenly gained super strength and agility. He claims he pushed a car away from another one and ripped the door off it."
"Cool," Flash smirked.
"Not cool," Shining stated. "People don't just gain super powers out of the blue."
"You're literally describing how I became a superhero," Flash stated. "The Omnitrix just appeared out of the blue. One moment, I'm a normal teenager. The next, I'm the world's greatest hero."
"You know what I mean," Shining told him. "Come on. Let's take a look." He moved over to the door and knocked, Clawcer opening the door with his electrical powers.
"Ahh," he nodded, "good. You're both here."
"Hey," Flash spotted the man Clawcer was talking to. "Apparently, this guy has super powers." He suddenly noticed a bunch of devices, floating in Clawcer's electrical hold.
"Apparently," Clawcer nodded. "Though I haven't actually seen him use any of these powers."
"I am telling you the truth," the man named First replied. "I know it is hard to believe, but I somehow jumped ten feet and ripped a door off a car."
Clawcer hummed, as a device floated around him. "I am picking up some kind of energy trace coming off of him. It's possible whatever this energy is caused you to suddenly gain enhanced physical abilities. But where did the energy come from?"
"Were you near Cosmic Town yesterday?" Shining asked, with First shaking his head. "Had any recent contact with aliens of any kind?"
"I do not think so," First shook his head.
"What about your family history?" Clawcer asked. "It's possible you could have an alien ancestor that's giving you these abilities. Human alien hybrids could have some strange abilities."
First frowned, "I am pretty sure all my ancestors were human." Clawcer held another device over him, which sucked some hair off his head into it. "Ow!" The device beeped before showing Clawcer the info.
"Yup. One hundred percent human." Clawcer frowned, "then I have no idea where this power could have come from." Flash and Shining shared a look, both having an idea.
"Clawcer. It's possible his abilities don't have an alien origin." Clawcer gave Shining a look, as he and Flash took out their phones. "Remember, this town was strange before the aliens started showing up."
"What are you talking about?" First asked, as the pair finished sending texts.
"First," Flash spoke up, "this is gonna sound crazy. But do you believe in magic?" First raised an eyebrow at this. "I know it sounds nuts, but magic really exists. Some of my villains have used magic against me before."
"And you think I have gained magical powers?" He asked, the pair shrugging.
"No idea. That's why we've called in some specialists. They should arrive soon." And sure enough, twenty minutes later, Trixie and the Rainbooms arrived at the base.
"You think he might have magic?" Sunset asked, as Flash led them up the base's driveway.
"Suddenly gaining super powers is pretty much a staple when it comes to magic," Flash pointed out. "He said he became super strong, super fast and able to leap ten feet in the air. That's basically Applejack, Rainbow and Trixie."
"Have you actually seen him use these abilities?" Twilight asked. "I'm not saying he's lying, but it's possible he's just remembering what happened last night differently. Adrenaline can have a serious effect on the brain. It's possible he was desperate to save that woman, so he pushed past his normal limits and it happened so fast he thinks he was moving at super speed and ripped the door off the car."
Flash shrugged, as they reached the front of the base. "Honestly, I have no idea. This guy's either wrong, or he gained magic. That's why I called you guys in. If he has magic, you should be able to figure it out." They stepped into the building and Flash led them to the room First had been waiting in.
When they arrived, they found First had some kind of strength testing equipment in hand.
He groaned, as he pulled the two handles and tried to make the spring between them stretch. But it quickly became clear he didn't have the upper body strength to do that. "Come on!" He cried, clearly trying to access the mysterious power he had.
But as soon as she got into the room, Trixie felt herself drawn to him and gasped. She felt an energy coming off him that resonated with the several powers within herself, which made her realise what he was. "A Medallion wielder." First and the others turned to her, Trixie stepped forward as she gave him a serious look.
"Hello?" First asked, putting the training device down. "What was that you said?"
"You sure he's got a Medallion?" Shining asked, Trixie nodding.
"Yup," she assured them. "I can feel it inside him. He has a Medallion." First looked confused by this, as Trixie suddenly transformed. His eyes went wide, when he saw the light vanish and saw her in her Luna Cat outfit.
"You...you are Lady Masquerade?"
"That's right," Trixie nodded. "And you have a Medallion." She pointed at the coin on her head. "Powerful relics that come from another world. It was stolen by a villain named Devious and when we stopped him, the Medallions he took were scattered around Canterlot. And you were chosen by one to be its new wielder."
"Seriously?" First turned to the others, clearly asking if she was telling the truth.
They all nodded, Twilight turning to Trixie. "Which Medallion does he have? If strength is granted by the Mighty Bull and Speed by the Rush Rabbit, which Medallion could grant him both abilities at once?"
"The Burst Wolf," Trixie explained before taking out her phone. Everyone gathered around, as she showed them all an image of a blue coin with a white wolf on it. The wolf was surrounded by some kind of blue lightning and looked like it was moving at incredible speeds.
"That is what I have?" First asked, with Trixie nodding.
"The Burst Wolf Medallion, has the power to generate a special kind of energy. The wielder of the Medallion can use that energy to supercharge their own body, giving them a boost that pushes them to super human levels. Speed, strength, agility. Everything about them gets boosted. The book even says the energy can speed up the ability to heal, or give a boost to their senses."
"I do not remember seeing super far away, or hearing anything I shouldn't have been able to."
"That probably comes with more training," Trixie explained. "But the one thing about the Burst Wolf, is its ability to pass on that supercharge to others. Though the boost is only temporary, it can turn any normal person into a super human."
"That's awesome!" Rainbow cried, as First looked himself over. "Dude, you're totally stacked."
"Agreed," Rarity nodded. "Being able to power yourself or others around you is quite something." First nodded, clearly agreeing with them. But everyone knew what needed to happen now.
Trixie moved over to a chair and sat down, First sitting opposite her and clearly wondering what was wrong. "Listen. You need to make a decision right now."
"What decision?" First asked.
"Like I said, the Medallions came here from another world. It's my mission to find them and return them to that world. Which means eventually, I'm gonna have to take yours."
"How?" First looked himself over, "I do not have it."
"The Medallion is...inside of you. It'll appear when you renounce your claim to it. Until then, you'll be able to use it whenever you need it. But it also puts you in danger."
"Right. You said something about a man named Devious. That he was after the Medallions."
"Exactly," Trixie nodded. "And if he learns you have one, he won't stop until he gets it. Which will put you in danger."
"I see," First nodded. "So you want me to renounce this Medallion and give it to you." The others smiled, amazed by how on the ball he was.
"That's up to you," Trixie explained. "I don't need to take the Medallion right now. If I do, you'll lose all your abilities and be a normal person again. That rush of power you had last night will be the only time you get to feel that. But it'll also take the target off your back. If you keep the Medallion, it means you'll have to spend every minute of your life looking over your shoulder."
"I see." First sat back in his chair, everyone being curious what his decision would be. "Honestly, I do not know what to say to that. These powers were a bit of a shock to me, but they allowed me to save that woman and her unborn child. And if I can use them to help more people, I think I would want to keep them. But living my life constantly paranoid does not sound fun."
"That's fair," Trixie nodded. "Well, you don't have to decide right now."
Flash spoke up. "You should probably learn how to use your powers before making your choice. If you can't use them on command, you might be in trouble when you need them."
"He's got a point," Shining nodded. "But now that he knows where the powers come from, I'm sure he'll be able to use them" The others nodded, but they were still a little concerned. If First couldn't learn to use his powers and Devious learned about him, he could be put in serious jeopardy.
Back at the accident site, the police were working to get the damaged cars removed so the road could be opened back up.
But as they worked, none of them noticed someone standing off to the side. Devious. The man was in his civilian form, looking around and smiling as he sensed a familiar energy. "The Burst Wolf." He moved over to one of the cars and as he held his hand out, he felt a particular energy coming off it. "Definitely."
He kept his eyes on the cops, as he took something out of his pocket. A small gemstone, which he placed onto the car as he started whispering something.
As he did, the energy that was staining the car sparked before flying into the gemstone. Devious smiled, as he watched the crystal absorb more and more of the power. "With this, nothing will be able to stop me." The cops finally noticed him and told him to get away from the accident site, Devious choosing not to blast them away since it might lead to Lady Masquerade and her friends all attacking at once.
As the cop moved over to him, Devious stood up and pulled the gem away from the car. He moved away from the car, assuring the cop that he was just leaving.
He did just that, heading away and returning to the area where he and Chrysalis were based out of.
Chrysalis was currently doing her nails, as Devious stepped into the warehouse building. "So?" She asked, "did you get what you were after?" She noticed a smirk on Devious' lips. "I'm guessing that's a yes."
Devious simply held up a gemstone, Chrysalis getting up and taking a closer look at it. "This gemstone now contains some of the Burst Wolf Medallion's power. So long as I'm holding onto it, my power will be boosted by an unbelievable amount."
"Is that so?" She took it and looked it over, as she felt the energy pulsing within it. "If we have this, will we need the Wolf Medallion?"
"Yes," Devious replied, "since the power alone won't be enough to cast the spell. But with this, I'll be able to take the rest of the Medallions."
"How?"
Devious chuckled, taking the gem back. "I told you. With this, my power will be boosted tenfold. Against that kind of power, Lulamoon won't stand a chance." He clutched the gem in his hand and felt its power flowing into him. He then activated his Medallion and transformed, raising his staff and creating a fireball.
Chrysalis watched the flame burn and slowly, the room got hotter and hotter. Then, the fire changed colour. It slowly shifted from red to orange, then yellow, white and finally blue. The heat coming off it was like nothing she had ever felt before.
She was starting to sweat and found it difficult to breathe. And eventually, she felt her legs giving out and she fell to the ground. Devious smirked as he killed the flame, the temperature inside the room slowly returning to normal. "Imagine Lulamoon trying to stand up to that kind of heat. She won't stand a chance."
Chrysalis smiled. "So we're going after her?"
"Of course," Devious nodded. "We don't know where the Burst Wolf is. But it's likely they'll reveal themselves soon. We need to deal with her before they can team up. If she gets access to that Medallion's power, things could get difficult."
"Understood," Chrysalis nodded. "Let's get her."
Back at the Plumber Base, First was with the others in one of the training rooms.
Currently, he found himself fighting against the alien known as The Worst. The yellow blob-like alien ran at the man, who was trying to access the power of his Medallion. "Raaah!" He ran at The Worst and tried to throw a punch, but there were no telltale sparks showing he was using the Medallion's power. As such, The Worst was able to dodge the attack before leaping up and kicking the man in the chest.
Since The Worst wasn't so strong, First only found himself getting knocked back a few steps. "Come on, First!" Trixie called out, as First regained his balance. "You need to dig deep and call upon the power."
"I am trying!" First charged and threw a kick towards The Worst, but the alien let the foot slam into him as he wrapped is arms around the leg. "Hey!" He tried to kick him off, but it didn't work. And soon, The Worst leapt up before throwing a bunch into First's face.
The squishy punch did no damage, but First was pushed back and tripped up.
"Ouch," Rainbow flinched, "he's not doing too well."
"There's gotta be a way he can access his powers," Shining stated. "Maybe the problem is Flash's alien choice. Maybe The Worst just isn't enough to spark his powers."
Twilight shrugged. "Flash picked him to give First an easy opponent. And since he's pretty much indestructible, First didn't have to worry about hurting Flash if he used too much power."
"But The Worst must not be threatening enough," Rarity guessed. "Don't most powers like this, tie themselves to one's survival instinct? Maybe First can't use his powers unless he's in danger. Or thinks he's in danger."
"Hmm." Trixie thought for a moment, then smiled before summoning her Luna Cat Medallion.
The coin glowed and suddenly, a large tiger appeared and let out a roar. Everyone jumped and saw the beast leap towards First, who screamed and tried to jump away. But once again, he found his abilities wouldn't activate. He jumped back, but only a foot or so before tripping over whilst the tiger landed on top of him.
But before he could have a heart attack, the beast disappeared.
He lay on the ground, panting with wide eyes. The others all turned to Trixie, who shrugged. "What?" They sighed, as The Worst turned back to Flash.
"Let's end it there for today," Flash offered a hand to First. "I don't think fear is the way to access your power."
"Then how do I access it?" First asked, clearly looking desperate.
"No idea," Flash told him. "Sorry. I don't have that problem. My abilities actually come with a button to turn them on."
"But what about when you are an alien?" First asked. "Like Volt-Edge and Firefly. How do you use their electric and fire power? How do you create gems as Diamondhead and turn invisible when you're Chamalien?"
Flash shrugged. "I don't know. It's not like I knew how to use these powers right from the start. It took time for me to learn how to use them. But...I guess I just listened to my heart."
"Listened to your heart?"
"He's right," Trixie nodded as she moved over to him. "When I first got my Medallion, I didn't really have to try when I made my illusions." She showed him the coin. "I have to think when I'm making them solid, but the base illusions weren't something I had a problem using."
"So you are saying I am a failure when it comes to these powers?"
"No," Trixie told him. "The problem is you're thinking about it too much." She put the Medallion on her head. "When I'm creating an illusion, I'm not using my head." First frowned, clearly not understanding. "Just don't try to force it. When you really need the power, it'll come to you so long as you believe in yourself."
"Alright," First nodded. "So what happens now?"
"Now, you go home." Shining patted him on the shoulder. "And if your powers do activate, try and keep them under control."
"But what about that psycho?" First asked. "What if he attacks me?"
"Relax," Trixie assured him. "Devious doesn't even know you exist. So long as your powers remain inactive, he probably won't be able to find you. And he doesn't know where you live."
"Okay," First nodded. "I will trust you." Trixie smiled, as Flash offered First a ride home. The man nodded and everyone headed out of the base, Shining the only one staying behind whilst the group split up. The Rainbooms headed off to hang out and work on a new song for their band, whilst Flash and First headed for the Omni-Cruiser.
"You wanna lift?" Flash asked Trixie, but she shook her head.
"I'm good," she told him. "I'm gonna take a walk and clear my head." Flash nodded before getting in the car, Trixie going with the girls to the exit before splitting up and heading in two different directions.
As she walked, Trixie thought about all the Medallions that had been found and those that hadn't. "There are just two left unaccounted for. Once I've found them, hopefully I can convince the users to give them up." Her mind then flashed back to the Medallions that were in the hands of those not willing to give them back.
"Radiant Dragon, Mad Monkey, Zone Spider and Rush Rabbit. The Rabbit Medallion is who knows where and I have to beat Devious and Chrysalis to get the other ones." She frowned, wishing she had a way to get the Medallions all back. She had no idea how much longer the kingdoms of the other universe were willing to wait before they invaded to take the Medallions back themselves.
As she turned a corner and headed down a street, she was completely unaware she was being watched. That was until she suddenly found a bright red light coming from below.
"Huh?" She looked down and was shocked to see she had stepped into a glowing spider web. One that made her realise who was nearby. "Chrysalis!" She transformed into her Luna Cat form, right as she was teleported away.
In the blink of an eye, she found herself a hundred feet in the air.
She cried out, as gravity made her fall down and crash onto the roof of the building she had been on. "Ow!" She hissed, as laughter filled the air and she looked around to see Devious and Chrysalis on the roof with her. "Funny." She jumped back to her feet, as she reached behind herself.
"We thought so," Devious chuckled before pointing his staff at her.
Trixie quickly changed her Medallion, shifting into her Iron Serpent form seconds before a burst of lightning flew towards her. She formed a barrier and protected herself, as she finished fishing out her phone.
Flash and First were heading towards First's place, when Flash's phone suddenly let out an alarm.
"What the heck is that?" First asked, as Flash took it out and hit the touch screen button. Doing so brought up a map with a blue dot, Flash frowning as he attached the device to a slot in the controls.
"Trixie's in trouble. That's an alarm we put on everyone's phone, so they can tell us they're in trouble without needing to give any details." First nodded, as Flash reached for the lever on his left side. "Hold on. This might get a little rough." He pulled the lever and soon enough, the car transformed into its XLR8 form. "Ready, Chip?"
"Let's do this!" Chip called back, as the car suddenly shot forward and First found himself pushed into the back of his seat.
As they flew through the street, zigzagging around the cars, they found a place to turn around and were soon heading in Trixie's direction.
Trixie flinched, as she felt the lightning and fireballs blast against her shield.
"Give it up!" She told them. "You can't break through the Iron Serpent's protection." But then she saw the pair smiling, which did not seem good to her. "What? Don't tell me you've got another Medallion or something?"
"In a way," Devious chuckled before taking something out of his cloak. A crystal.
"What the?" Trixie watched him clutch the gem and as he did, energy began to spark out of his hand. "That can't be good." She watched the energy flow out of Devious' hand, run up his body and into his staff before he thrust it forward.
Doing so caused it to unleash a bolt of lightning, three times the size he normally fired.
Trixie gasped, bracing herself as the bolt struck her shield and caused the whole thing to start shaking. She screamed, feeling the power coming off this bolt whilst her shield began to crack. "No way!"
"Feel the power of the Burst Wolf Medallion!" Devious unleashed a fireball that was the same size, but four times as hot. And when it struck Trixie's shield, the whole thing exploded and her barrier was blown apart.
Trixie screamed, as she was thrown off her feet and blasted off the edge of the roof.
She flinched at the impact, but kept her focus and managed to transform again. This time, she morphed into her Sky Butterfly form and she spread her wings to stop her fall. But before she could try to fly away, a shard of ice was launched towards her and pieced her wing.
"AUGH!" She felt said wing get impaled and she began to fall, unable to fly and eventually crashing into the ground.
She moaned, as she tried to pick herself up and get away. But a light signalled Devious and Chrysalis appearing on the street. People ran away, whilst Trixie was almost to her feet. But before she could do anything, Devious unleashed a powerful gale of wind that slammed into Trixie with the force of a high speed train.
She screamed, as she was blown backwards and smashed into the side of a building. the building cracked and dented, as she was pinned up against it. 'What's happening?' she thought to herself. 'Devious isn't this strong.' She remembered the gem he had shown her and the words he had said. 'He doesn't have the Burst Wolf Medallion, but was he able to get some of its power?'
The wind finally died down and Trixie fell to the ground, whilst Devious summoned as much energy as he could into his staff. "This is where it ends. Prepare to meet your mother in the next life." But before he could fire, he heard a sound and looked around.
Something big and fast was racing towards them and if Chrysalis hadn't warped them out of the way, it would have run them over.
As they reappeared, the XLR8 Omni-Cruiser skidded to a stop before returning to its base form. And as the top disappeared, Flash was ejected into the air. "It's hero time!" He slammed the Ultimatrix down and transformed, "GOOP!" The alien slime flew down, trying to tackle them but Chrysalis warped them away again.
This distraction allowed First to leap out of the car and run to Trixie's side. "Are you okay?"
Trixie groaned, as First helped her to her feet. "I'll live. But we're in trouble." She looked over and saw Goop and Devious beginning to battle one another.
Devious unleashed bursts of blue and yellow lightning, the blue lightning causing ice to form on anything it struck. Goop had to be careful to avoid getting hit by both, whilst throwing globs of slime at the man.
"Devious somehow gained some of your power." First looked shocked by this. "I think he must have found a trace of the energy and stored it in a gemstone. He's supercharging his attacks."
"So what do we do?"
"For now, we need to get out of here. The last thing we need, is for him to realise you have a Medallion as well." The Omni-Cruiser rolled up to them.
"Get in!" They leapt into the car and drove off, as Chrysalis noticed them.
"You're not getting away!" She extended her web as far as she could grow it and warped to the outer edge, getting within several feet of the Omni-Cruiser before forming another web. This one caught the car within it and before Chip could leave, she warped him to the other side of the web and he found himself driving towards her.
Knowing that running her over wouldn't do much good, Chip skidded to a stop.
"Well that didn't work," Chip frowned. Trixie transformed into her Iron Serpent form and tried to leap out, but was still injured after getting slammed into the side of a building. "Get out of here. I'll hold her off!" They leapt out and Chip charged at her, but Chrysalis just warped him to the edge of her web and he found himself crashing into the side of a building. "Augh!"
"Chip!" Trixie gasped, as First carried her away.
Chrysalis tried to warp them over to her, but Trixie was able to put up a small barrier to protect them until they left the web. As such, the woman gave chase whilst Chip tried to follow. But they all ran into an alleyway and he was too wide to follow. "Hey!"
First ran as fast as he could, Trixie leaning against him and limping along.
Chrysalis began to use her metal legs to follow and as she did, First felt himself panicking. But then he looked down at Trixie and realised he needed to save her. He had to save her, no matter what.
Suddenly, he felt a sudden rush of energy flowing through him. Blue sparks flew off his body and Chrysalis raised an eyebrow, as First was suddenly pulling Trixie along at a faster pace. "What?" The villain tried to catch up, but First pulled Trixie into a bridal carry and ran like the wind.
He leapt up and cleared a good ten feet in a single bound, Trixie seeing this and being amazed. "You got your power to awaken."
"Looks like it." First kept running, with Chrysalis attempting to catch up to them. But First was beginning to use everything he had and ran to the other side of the street before leaping up and managing to get all the way to the roof. Once on said roof, he started jumping from one to another in order to escape.
Chrysalis saw this and the energy he gave off made her realise he was using the Medallion Devious had gained his boost from.
Back with Devious, he and Goop kept fighting with Devious completely destroying the street with lightning and fireballs. Goop was able to dodge them all and as he got in close, he tried to grab Devious and throw him away. But Devious dodged the whip and thrust his staff into Goop's chest.
He unleashed a blast of lightning, which hit Goop and made him cry out in pain as he was thrown backwards.
"Devious." The man placed a hand on the side of his head, as a radio he had gotten for him and Chrysalis went off. "Slight update. Trixie has teamed up with the Burst Wolf user."
"Is that so?" Devious smiled, as Goop fly towards him. But the psychopath leapt underneath the hero before unleashing a blast of blue lightning.
Goop split apart to avoid it, but the energy hit his anti-grav unit and froze him solid. "Augh!" The UFO fell to the ground, which caused Goop to lose his mobility and fall to the ground. He tried to change aliens, but Devious was faster and blasted another bolt of blue lightning at him. This one froze him solid, trapping him in ice and leaving him unable to move.
"Flash!" Chip had seen this and raced over, trying to run Devious over only for the crook to propel himself upwards with a blast of wind.
Once he reached the roof, he landed and smirked down at the car. "Love to stay, but I've got some new Medallions to acquire." With that, he summoned another gust of wind and flew away.
As he left, Chip moved over to the frozen alien and parked with his exhaust right next to him. "Hold on, bro. I'll get you out of there." He revved his engine and the exhaust unleashed a bunch of heat, which slowly began to melt the ice. Hopefully, he could get Flash out of it before he changed back to human. Or before Devious could get to Trixie.
Back with First, he kept running with Trixie in his arms.
The girl was resting, trying to get herself ready for the fight that was obviously about to happen once Chrysalis and Devious caught up to them. And as First reached another rooftop, he jumped down as his energy began to disappear.
He put Trixie down and looked her over, seeing she had a bump on the back of her head from when she hit the side of the building. "Hold on," he told her. "I will find a way to fix you up."
"I'm fine," she told him.
"You could have a concussion. We need to make sure you are not suffering from something like that." He placed a hand on her shoulder and as he did, his body sparked with energy again. "What?" The energy flew through his arm and into Trixie, who glowed as she suddenly felt much better.
"Wow." She looked herself over and the pain in her head vanished, the hero reaching back and feeling the bump on her head slowly disappearing.
"What is happening?" First asked, as Trixie started picking herself up.
"I think you're boosting my body's ability to heal." Trixie smiled, soon feeling almost one hundred percent. "Okay. This is definitely gonna help." But as she said that, her sense of danger went off and she grabbed First. "Get behind me!" She raised a shield, seconds before a bolt of lightning flew down and slammed into it.
The alley was filled with an explosion that knocked everything within it flying, but when the smoke cleared the shield was still standing.
Trixie glared at Devious, who was on the roof of the building with Chrysalis. She then grabbed First's hand and they ran out of the alley, Devious launching a supercharged fireball as they did. But the shield stayed up and when the fireball struck, the dome of light managed to maintain integrity.
Devious frowned, as he saw Trixie's dome sparking with energy. "She must have gotten a boost from the Burst Wolf Medallion as well." He clenched the gem and unleashed more lightning, the power from it beginning to overwhelm Trixie's shield.
Slowly, Trixie felt the boost she had received begin to die down. The power of her shield was growing weaker, whilst Devious' power remained supercharged.
First saw this and realised he had to do something, the paramedic taking a deep breath as he remembered what Trixie had said earlier. Using the power didn't come from the head, but the heart. And when he remembered the times his power had activated before, he realised something.
"That is it." He took a deep breath and as the dome around them began to crack, his body sparked with energy and he placed his hand on Trixie's back.
The energy flowed into her and she felt another rush of power, as the dome began to sure up. Devious saw this and frowned, as he tried to blast his way through. But Trixie's shield remained supercharged and able to withstand the blast.
"Damn it!" He cried, as Chrysalis suddenly heard something.
She looked around and was shocked to see a car, flying through the air towards them.
The Omni-Cruiser, in its Firefly form, raced over the rooftops before diving down and aiming at the villains. Flash was in the drivers seat, glaring at them as he tried to ram them off the roof. But before they could, Chrysalis grabbed Devious and warped them down onto the street.
As the car flew past the building, the cover disappeared and Flash leapt out.
The teen once again performed a midair transformation, slamming the dial down and being surrounded by light. "ARCTIGUANA!" The ice lizard landed in front of Trixie and First before unleashing a powerful blast of ice towards Devious and Chrysalis, but Devious counted by shooting a blast of blue fire from his staff.
The ice and flames collided and steam filled the air, causing them to cough as Trixie and First tried to step back. But after a few moments, Devious' supercharged flamethrower overpowered Arctiguana's attack and pushed it back towards him.
The lizard gasped and leapt into the air, the flames hitting the ground and causing it to melt.
Trixie and First moved over to the Omni-Cruiser, which had reverted back to its base form with Chip ready to jump in and help if he was needed. "What do we do?" First asked, as Arctiguana fired another ice blast towards Devious. But he launched another blue flamethrower and once again overpowered the freeze ray.
"We need to find a way to get that gem away from Devious," Trixie frowned as she watched Arctiguana leap to the side, the flamethrower missing him and hitting the building behind him instead.
As the lizard landed, he reached up and turned the dial on the Ultimatrix before slapping it down. And in a burst of green light, he was transformed into his iceberg shelled super form and pointed his twin ice cannons towards Devious. "ULTIMATE ARCTIGUANA!" He fired the twin ice beams, which combined as Devious launched his blue flamethrower.
The attacks collided and sure enough, the two appeared even. The hyper evolved ice lizard was a match for the supercharged Medallion user. But Trixie knew that Ultimate Arctiguana couldn't keep it up forever. Eventually, he would run out of power and Devious would once again have the upper-hand.
"I need to get that gem away from him," she said again. "But how?" It was then that she had an idea. It was a long shot, but it just might work. She just needed a boost. "First. Get ready to blast me with another wave of energy."
"I will try," First nodded. "But are you sure that is a good idea? We do not know the full extent of what this power could do. You have already been boosted twice. What if three times is too much?"
"We have to try," Trixie told him. "I'll take the risk. Ready?" First nodded, as Trixie once again transformed. This time, she had changed into her Rapid Turtle form. "Now!" Burst summoned as much power as he could and channelled it into Trixie, who activated her ability as soon as the energy flowed into her.
And just like that, the world around her began to slow down. The flames and ice froze and Trixie was able to see the strange sight of the two elements mixing. And everyone else was completely still, as Trixie's time slow had evolved into full on time stop.
The girl laughed as she ran out from behind the Omni-Cruiser and raced towards Devious, though she could already feel the boost she had been given beginning to run out. Time control was such a great power, even getting a super boost did little to stop the energy drain Trixie felt.
But it was enough for her to get up close to Devious and duck under his staff.
Trixie kept running, as she grabbed the gem that was in his other hand and pulled it out of his grasp. As she did, the power boost finally ran out and the time stop had reverted back to time slowing and Devious obviously noticed the sudden loss of his winning item.
Trixie jumped away from him and cut the power, time reverting back to normal with everyone's brains trying to register what had just happened.
To everyone else, Trixie had just teleported over to Devious and pulled the gem away. "Looking for this?" She held up the stone, shocking everyone. But the shock quickly vanished when Devious remembered he was still in the midst of a power struggle with Ultimate Arctiguana.
His fire was still being boosted, but the energy from that boost quickly wore out and Devious found himself getting overwhelmed.
The ice blasts were too cold for the fire to hold back and as the power of the flames died down, the fire changing from blue to white, yellow, orange and back to red, the beams pushed them back towards Devious faster than he could react. "NO!" He yelled, as he was suddenly struck by the beam.
Mist filled the air, blocking the man from view. And when it slowly began to fade, Devious was shown to be completely frozen solid. The man was surrounded by ice, his staff pointed outwards and looking like it could break off at any moment.
Ultimate Arctiguana laughed, whilst Trixie prepared to time slow in order to break part of him out of the ice and take the Medallion.
But before she could, Chrysalis rushed over and grabbed him before making a web around them all. Trixie tried to get to her, but Chrysalis warped her away before she could. And before vanishing with Devious, Chrysalis looked over to First and glared at him. "I hope you've had fun. Because you've just made a very dangerous enemy." With that, they disappeared and the web also vanished.
First stared at the spot where they had been, as Ultimate Arctiguana transformed back to his base form before reverting to human.
Trixie also got out of her outfit and moved over to First, smiling as she did so. "You were great back there. I never would have beaten them without your help."
"Thank you," First nodded. "It was kind of terrifying."
"You get used to it," Flash told him. "That is, if you still wanna keep your abilities. Like Chrysalis said, you've made some enemies today. They're gonna come after you. Sure you still want to keep your powers."
"Yes," First nodded. "I know I cannot keep them forever, but I can use these powers whilst I can in order to help people. Especially the ability to help the body heal faster. There are some many way it can help me keep those that need help alive."
"True," Trixie nodded. "Just be careful. The last thing we need is people getting suspicious of you and asking how you're healing them. If the government learned about the Medallions, they might try and take them for themselves. And that'd cause some serious trouble."
First nodded, "I will be careful. But if you ever need my help, I will be there to help. All you have to do is ask."
"Thanks," Trixie smiled before a thought occurred to her. "And about Devious trying to attack you when you're alone at home. I think I might be able to help with that." First gave her a confused look, Flash also questioning what she meant.
Later, Trixie and Flash were at First's apartment.
They had stopped by Trixie's place and picked something up. That something was a strange yellow pyramid gem, which Trixie placed on the mantle-place.
"There we go," she smiled before turning to First. "Now we just need to activate it. Put your finger on the point and channel your Medallion's power."
First nodded and stepped up to do just that, activating the power of his Medallion which caused his body to spark. The gem seemed to react to this and unleashed a light of some kind, which formed a bubble around it that spread out. In seconds, the bubble expanded to completely fill the apartment and beyond.
"What just happened?" Flash asked, moving to the window and seeing the light outside of it before vanishing.
"A little something my brother gave me to protect our house," Trixie smirked. "That shield will prevent any magic user other than First from entering it. And since the shield now surrounds the entire apartment..."
"The place is safe from Devious," First smiled. "That is amazing. Thank you."
Trixie gave him a salute. "Now you don't have to worry about getting attacked in your sleep. But you'll need to be on guard when you're out of the apartment. And maybe let us put a security app on your phone. If Devious attacks, use it and we'll be there as soon as we can."
"Thank you," First repeated. "I promise I will be careful."
"Good," Flash nodded. "By the way. How'd you unlock your power? One minute you couldn't use it, then when I got back to you guys you were using it like you'd had the power for years. How'd you figure it out?" Trixie also looked curious, whilst First smiled.
"I remembered what you and Trixie told me. I realised that every time I used the power, it was because I wanted to help someone in need. It first activated so I could save a pregnant woman that was in a car crash. Then I activated when I was trying to get Trixie somewhere safe."
Flash and Trixie smiled. "Sounds like a real hero in the making," Flash told him. "I think the Medallion made the right choice when it picked you." Trixie nodded, First smiling as he pointed at the kitchen.
"Wanna stay for a drink? I would love to hear about some of the other Medallion users you have met." They nodded and First began to make said drink, whilst the pair of them sat down and smiled at one another.
This had certainly been a different Medallion discovery. Now Trixie had someone on her side with a Medallion, who would hopefully help her in retrieving the rest of them. They didn't know what the future held for First and his abilities, but they hoped things would look up for them all.
With Devious still out there and eager for any advantage he could find, they would need to be ready for anything. The battle for the Medallions would start heating up soon. And Trixie needed to be on her A-game.
Author's Note
Well this was certainly an interesting take on a Medallion wielder. Now Trixie has her own to call upon. First will be back, but not for a while. What did you think of this chapter and how do you think things will turn out?
