Day 3
Rumble hopped up and down excitedly as he ripped off a new sheet of paper from his notebook. Miss Cherilee had already reviewed his current poems and exclaimed they were excellent for a primary colt. She had praised him and called him her ‘little poetic colt’.
He certainly had an idea this time.
“Watch where you’re going, doofus!” Diamond Tiara snarled at Rumble. Rumble shrugged the conflict off and continued walking straight ahead. A small bump didn’t really hurt anyone.
Diamond snickered from behind his rear and took out a pen. She shook the pen up and down and unscrewed the ink blocker.
Squirt.
Rumble didn’t have to be a genius to figure that out. He quickly grabbed his pencil and began writing the Day 3 poem.
A little filly came by me,
And asked with a uncertain glee,
If I would like to watch where I stepped,
I wish I could have went and prepped.
Rumble had learnt that word from his brother. Thunderlane had always taught Rumble new words to learn.
Well, good day.
Day 1
One, two three four.
Tomatoes are delicious I need more!
Rumble smiled proudly at his poem. His assignment was to make a poem for each of the day, representing the highlight of the day.
His highlight of the day was tomatoes.
Maybe he should add something.
One, two, three four.
Tomatoes are delicious I need more!
Yummy in my tummy,
They seem very funny.
Maybe that didn't rhyme...
Rumble erased that part and thought again.
Oh!
One, two, three, four.
Tomatoes are delicious I need more!
Popcorn is good.
Perfect!
Day 2
Rumble looked at the blank sheet of paper thoughtfully. It was day 2, and he needed a poem fast. Bedtime was in 13 minutes, and if he didn’t go to sleep by then, Thunderlane would tickle him.
Well, what was the highlight of the day?
Rumble thought back at his day again.
“How was school, bud?” Thunderlane said to Rumble as they entered their house. Rumble shrugged and sighed.
“I got a D minus on one of my tests.” He unzipped his bag and handed a sheet of notebook paper to Thunderlane. Rumble knew he was going to get it now.
“Hey kiddo, that’s alright. You tried your best anyways.” Thunderlane waved away the conflict and smiled.
Oh!
Rumble smiled at the thought and wrote down something on the sheet of paper, clearly inspired by his day.
How often that it will appear,
My brother doesn’t get so near,
When it is that my test gets graded bad,
But not the same is spoken to my dad.
Rumble’s dad had requested Rumble to write to him everyday even though he was not the official caretaker of Rumble.
In reality, Rumble’s real dad was far away in Canterlot with his wife. The fake dad was a caretaker from the Ponyville Sunshine Orphanage, and he wasn’t a good one either. Thunderlane had fired the caretaker 3 days later after having received a sad Rumble from school.
Rumble smiled at the clock and sighed. Time to go to sleep. Tomorrow would have many more poetic surprises.
