I hastily closed the door and locked it when I got there, making sure to lock both latches. I slowly slid down the door and onto my rump where I sat for about ten minutes. I thought of what was happening. Everypony was gone. They had all just vanished without a trace. I clutched my chest and began breathing heavily. All of my friends were gone. My parents. My colleagues. Everything. I even began assuming that the princesses were gone. Is that why the moon was still up? And red? My chest began hurting. My breathing was getting faster and more shallow. It was soon enough that I realized that I was having a panic attack. I held a hoof over my chest and tried to slow my breathing, but I just couldn't. I just couldn't accept the fact that everypony that I ever cared about was gone off the face of Equestria. Why me? Why was I left behind? I suddenly began to feel light headed and dizzy. My vision blurred as I fell to my side and hit the glossy wooden floor with a thud. I was out for a while, fainted on the cold wooden floor of my old home. I woke up two or three hours later in a mess of tears and sweat. I'd been in a cold sweat and sobbing in my sleep. My eyes were pink puffy messes. Hoisting myself up onto my hooves, I opened the door again and took a look outside. Maybe it had all been a dream? Opening the door I looked outside expecting a normal day, the ponies in my neighborhood playing and tending to business. But instead, I saw that same eerie emptiness and the blood red moon sitting in the sky, the sun overshadowing it. I turned back around and slammed the door before running into my living room and throwing myself onto the couch. The soft, yet firm cushions encased my face, leaving me in a sort of bliss for a second or two. I hefted my head out of the comfortable solitude that was my hole in the couch before grabbing my remote with a swift swipe of my hoof and turning on the TV. It flickered on with a bit of static like usual and then switched to a screen full of different sized bars in a variety of colors with a sharp tone ringing from the speakers. A groan escaped my lips as I dropped the remote onto the floor. I lay there in self pity, that same highly pitched sound floating around the room. //-------------------------------------------------------// Entry #1 - Dawn Of The First Day //-------------------------------------------------------// Entry #1 - Dawn Of The First Day Hello... whoever you are. My name is Date Fruit. And this is my new journal. In this I will tell you of how I became so incredibly alone in this horrible place. I think I will start from the beginning. The beginning being the day I first woke to find everypony I've ever known, and then some, had vanished without a trace... Entry 1 Day 1 I woke up in my bed expecting a normal day ahead of me. I was well rested and ready for the first day of my new job as an intern at the Manehatten city hall. I freshened myself up and ate my breakfast. It looked as if I would have a good day. But when I trotted outside to walk to work, a strange silence was lurking it's way into the back of my mind. Not only that, but the sky was dark. No stars shown from above and the sun wasn't up yet. The sun would normally be peeking over the horizon by now. But instead, the moon glared back down at me. But that was no normal moon. It was smaller and... red. A deep, blood red. And behind it, showing like a flame under firewood, was the sun. The ridges of the moon were overcome by it's fiery outline. I walked next door and knocked on the door to check on the neighbors, but nopony answered. I then turned around and began on my way to the town hall. As I walked, a creepy sensation washed up my spine. I began to run, as if I was trying to escape it. It rattled me to no end, almost making me want to break out into a full on sprint. But it was cold outside. And the workplace was nearly six miles away from the house. I was scared. My heart was beating a like a drum and cold air was forcing it's way into my lungs. I shivered and looked behind me. Across the street, at the local playground, a swing set was moving back and forth in the wind. Each swing was accompanied by the eerie screeching of rusty metal on rusty metal. The chains rattled in the cold wind, sending a sudden chill up my spine. A gust of freezing wind caused a few locks of hair to fall in front of my eyes. I moved to push them out of the way, only for something to brush against my hoof. I jerked it back and screamed as loudly as I could... only for me to notice that the thing that had brushed against me was a small red wagon being pushed by the wind. Just a toy. I chuckled lightly at the thought only for the overbearing reality of things to come crashing down on me. And for the first time in my life... I felt completely and utterly alone. Alone.
