Soarin and Spitfire lead the charge as the group zoomed around in the sky. "And now the local favourite of this Summerfell Festival, the light refraction of satisfaction... Rainbow Dash!" the announcer shouted. Rainbow flew through the sky with a rainbow trail of light behind her, holding an electric guitar in her hoof, strumming the strings wildly. "With her always amazing, forever trailblazing SONIC RAINBOOM!" Suddenly a loud boom echoed throughout the sky, a sonic rainboom filled the sky, spectating ponies gawked in awe. As Rainbow Dash showed off her death-defying moves, her pet tortoise, Tank, cheered her on from the ground. Everypony was enjoying the show, except for one mare. It was a pegasus with a large, frosted mane. Her coat was the colour of a lavender mist. Her name was Cloudchaser. She trotted frantically throughout the event. "Excuse me, please," Cloudchaser said, her voice slowly growing more frantic, "Has anypony seen Flitter?" Cloudchaser's younger sister, Flitter, had gone for an early morning flight and never returned. Cloudchaser had assumed that she'd meet her sister at the Festival, but when Flitter never showed up, Cloudchaser began to worry that something had happened to her. "She's been missing for several hours," Cloudchaser muttered quietly to herself as she scanned the crowd for any sign of Flitter, "Oh Celestia, please let her be okay." The silent fears of one distraught pony were swallowed up by the excited fervour of the crowd as they cheered on their hero, Rainbow Dash. ~~~ "Alright, c'mon now, let's give the crowd something to really cheer for." Rainbow thought to herself as she pushed herself further. "Aw yeah! This is awesome!" "Oh no!" she said as a dark gloomy cloud approached. "I shouldn't have pushed it!" Rainbow Dash thought, "My wings... I'm out of control and I can't avoid that big nasty clou-" "Oof!" was the last thing Rainbow said before making contact with the dark cloud that seemingly-appeared out of nowhere. The electric guitar was thrown from her hooves as she spun out of control and crashed onto the soft cloud floor. "Ungh." she groaned as she got up to her hooves. Looking around herself she saw dark grey clouds in every direction, small bolts of lightning zapped around the cloud followed by a light drizzle. "Okay, Dash, keep it cool. Don't get scared. It's just a dark creepy cloud you're stuck in while your wings are on the fritz. Nothing to freak out about at all." she lifted her goggles off her eyes as she started cantering to what she thought was the edge of the dark platform, but it never ended, it was like walking in circles. "Help! Anypony?! Little help?!" she shouted, hoping somepony on the surface would hear her. "Help? Why would you need help little pony? Why don't you just fly away?" a dark ominous voice echoed. "Wh-Who's there?" she asked, no answer. "I... I was going too fast. My wings won't lift me." "How sad." the voice drawled on. "Does that make you sad?" another voice hissed. "Not as sad as the fact I'm talking to a cloud for pony's sake but, yeah, it makes me pretty sad." Rainbow focused her ears, trying to locate where the voice was coming from. "Excellent..." the voice spoke as another crack of lightning erupted. "What do you call a pegasus who can't fly?" "Huh? What do you mean?" Rainbow asked. "What do you call a pegasus who can't fly?" the dark voice echoed again. "Uh... a new friend who you should be nice to?" Rainbow answered. "A sitting target!" two voices yelled from every direction, Rainbow's aural senses still could not locate where they were coming from, but she knew there where two voices. Evil cackling echoed as Rainbow was hit square in the face with a snowball. SCHLPOP! "Hey!" Rainbow yelled as she spat out pieces of the snowball. "Not cool! Play nice, you anonymous meanies!" Rainbow shouted into the dark cloud. "What do you call a scared pony in the dark?" one of the voices boomed. "A NIGHTMARE!" the combined voices roared, lightning bolts crackled in front of Rainbow. A dark grey cloud formed into a face with jagged sharp teeth and evil glowing purple eyes, the cloud moved towards the cyan mare with quick speed. Rainbow tried to dodge its incoming attack by leaping to her left, only to bump into something hard and landed on her back against the soft cloudy floor. "What the?" she looked up to see a tall broad purple...imp?... goblin? What ever she thought it was, it was wearing a purple hoodie with its little wings poking out the back and stubby horns poking out the hood. "Ungh..." Rainbow said, slowly rising to her hooves. "Quick Kaput! Grab her," a voice called from her other side, it was another imp-like creature with horns and wings, this one was shorter and wore a purple bomber jacket. The goggles on his head rattled about as he walked towards Rainbow, "we'll take her back with the other one." Obeying his command the tall broad imp-like creature, named Kaput, picked up Rainbow and stuffed her under his arm. "Hey, let go of me!" Rainbow protested. "I'm serious-mmph." her maw was silenced with a chunk of dark cloud, stuffed into it by Kaput. The pegasus couldn't spit it out or swallow the fluffy vapour, she could tell it was different from regular cloud, a cloud she could not control through simple movements. "Ready boss." Kaput said as the three of them stepped into the cloud wall. As they emerged from the other side Rainbow noticed the cloud look exactly the same as before, with only one difference. There was another pegasus pony lying curled up in the middle of the cloud floor, the pony looked oddly familiar to Rainbow Dash. Her coat was a pale greyish purple colour and her pale blue opal mane was tied back with a fuchsia bow, marked on her flank was three dragonflies. Rainbow couldn't believe her eyes, it was one of the pegasus from the weather team. "Flitter?!" Rainbow thought as she struggled against Kaput's grasp. The curled up pony heard the muffled screams and turned to look. "Rainbow Dash?!" Flitter said, "Please help. They won't let me go." "Quiet pony!" the small one shouted. "Kaput, use the clouds and tie them up!" Kaput nodded and tied up Rainbow down next to Flitter using dark clouds moulded to look like rope, he removed the tuft of cloud jammed in the pegasus' mouth. "Bad move Kaput!" Rainbow struggled against the cloud but just couldn't break it, "Hey! What's going on? What is this stuff?!" she said. Giving up on trying to wiggle herself free she tried to gnaw on her restraints. "There's no use trying to escape," the small creature said, "These clouds were formed from the mists of the Everfree Forest. I think you'll find yourself powerless to control them." "What- what are you?" Rainbow Dash asked. "Allow me to introduce myself!" the small creature said with a sneer, "My name is Fritz and my associate over there is named Kaput. We are Cloud Gremlins. You can't control our clouds, so there is no use in trying to escape." "Let us go!" Rainbow protested as she struggled in place again. "Tsk-tsk-tsk, not so fast pony." Fritz said, "First, we are going to feed on your emotions, then we will let you leave our cloud." Fritz walked around to Rainbow Dash's backside. He grabbed her wings in his claws and tugged them roughly. "Hey! Take your stinking claws of me, you darn, dirty gremlin!" she screamed in a mixture of pain and frustration, the corners of her face tensed up as she started to flap her wings very fast while flailing her hind legs wildly. Rainbow got up to her hooves with Flitter leaning against her, they slowly backed themselves against the dark cloud prison as Kaput stepped closer and closer. He waved his hand in one quick motion, a huge spiral of dark cloud spun around him in a vortex. "Time to cry!" When he pointed his arm forward, the cloud responded and flew towards Rainbow and Flitter. The black cloud collided with Rainbow and Flitter, pushing them through into blue sky. For a moment they hovered before dropping like stone weights. They fell with such force and speed that the air felt like it was slapping them in the face. "What? My wings, they are still-ouch!" Rainbow winced in pain as she tried to extent her throbbing wings. Within seconds she could see the green earth below her, a hundred meters away she guessed. "Flitter! Wake up!" Rainbow violently shook her unconscious friend's shoulders. "Oh crap!" “Help!” Rainbow screamed with all the force her lungs could muster. She was going to die. Death like a pancake. Splat... Rainbow's cries for help were so loud that she didn't even hear the sound of flapping wings towards her, faster than she could blink, two orange and blue blurs sped toward her. "It's okay we've got you." it was Spitfire! She was saved. "You were gone for a while, they got snow cones in that storm?" Soarin joked as he carried the unconscious Flitter in his hooves.
