I joined the Royal Guard Academy for a few different reasons, but mainly because I didn't really have any other options.

It wouldn't be so bad if the ponies here didn't act like the whole world owed them something. And the drill instructor wasn't such a hard ass. And then there's that strange magic defense tutor, I don't think a smile has seen her face in at least two decades. And don't even get me started on the food, seriously, how do you fuck up oatmeal?

Oh well, all I have to do is graduate the Academy, put in five years or so, then I'll quit with veteran benefits and a nice looking resume. That's the plan anyway.
