"Luna, it is time." Princess Celestia called to her sister. She looked in Luna's room to find her little sister lying on her bed. She was only half dressed for this occasion. Only three hoof heals and a crown laying right next to her. She wasn't in a very excited mood. "What's wrong, my little sister? Didn't you like the idea of your moon passing over my sun?"

"I did, but that's not the problem." Luna said sadly. Celestia went to lay down with her.

"What is it then?"

"I'm just...lonely."

"Excuse me?"

"I mean, I've been locked away for a thousand years. I've lost all of my friends since then. No pony understands how I feel. Just thinking about what happened last Night Mare Night was just terrible. They all feared me because of what happened to me. Then Twilight Sparkle came. She helped me with everything. Now she's the only friend I have. She was the only one I could talk to, until recent events." Luna thought of Twilight the alicorn.

"You can talk to me too."

"I know, but...my point is, I want a friend who can relate to my pain. I want a friend who understands me better than anypony else. But their's no pony I know who can help me."

"I see." She looked away feeling sorry for her sister. Then Luna's crown caught her eye. She used her magic to levitate the crown and it on her sister's head. "All I can say is to have faith. You'll meet somepony who can relate to your past."

"Do you really think so?"

"I'm sure of it." Celestia got up and heard the cheers that were heard from outside "It is time." She said to Luna. They both nodded to each other. Luna put on her last hoof heal, brushed her mane once more, and walked out to the balcony with her sister. They could hear cheers and laughter everywhere. Beside Celestia stood Princess Cadence and Shining Armor, and beside Luna stood Princess Twilight and her friends, all had their element of harmony with them, in case something went wrong. Celestia gave her announcement.

"Fillies and gentlecolts, it is nearly time for the solar eclipse to occur. This rare moment has been only used once over a thousand years ago. My sister, Princess Luna shall be the one to show you all what it may be. May I advise you to not look at the sun directly for your safety. We hope you enjoy this momentous occasion."

Everypony cheered again. Celestia nodded at Luna. Luna spread her wings and flew up to the sun. At the same time, she lifted the moon into the sky.

"Come on Luna, almost there." Luna mumbled to herself. She had some practice with this, but it was only to bring out the night alone. She could barely lift the moon with the sun beating down on her. Over a thousand years ago, she needed help from Celestia to rise the moon with her. Now, she knew she had the strength to raise the moon on her own. She pushed hard until the moon was successfully into place. She opened her eyes to see Equestria at nighttime. Everypony cheered again. Luna gave a sigh of relief. She had made the solar eclipse possible.

Then something caught her eye. She looked down to where Princess Twilight and her friends stood. Their elements were glowing. Their glow got bigger and brighter. Luna flew down as fast as she could to get a better look at what was happening. The Elements were glowing even brighter. She couldn't see anything. No pony could. All of a sudden, the glow spread rapidly. It covered all of Equestria until there was nothing but white. Luna felt dizzy and fell to the ground. The last thing she saw was white turning into black.

Outside of a nearby city stood a black hedgehog on a small hill. He had red streaks going down his quills and inhibitor rings on both his wrists and ankles. His name is Shadow. He had been standing there all day with his arms crossed and looking at the nearby city. He had some time off from his working for the GUN. During his free time, he had been standing there thinking about what should happen in his life.

"I've done what was done. I've protected this world. I've fulfilled my destiny. But what now? Where do I go from here? What am I to do?" He thought. "I can't just keep working for humanity for the rest of my life. I feel like something's missing. Something very important. Something that I truly desire. But what? What do I need to be satisfied?" He thought. He wasn't sure about weather or not he should make some friends. "Who would I even be friends with? Sonic and his friends are not like me at all. I need a friend who actually understands me. I need someone who knows what I've been through. I need someone who can relate to my pain from my past." He thought of the Ark, the misunderstanding, Maria. "She was the only one who knew, but she's gone. So who else is there?"

Just then, the moon started to drift in front of the sun. Shadow knew that the solar eclipse would happen soon, but why should he care? It's just an eclipse. What was so great about it? Suddenly, his chaos emerald started to glow. "This is strange." He said to himself. He's never seen a chaos emerald glow like this during an eclipse. The moon was almost directly over the sun. The chaos emerald glowed even brighter. Then Shadow saw glows of different colors everywhere. There was one in the city, one in the ocean, one in the forest, one in the desert, and one on the move. He knew Sonic had one, so the one on the move must be his. The moon was now blocking the sun entirely. His emerald, suddenly, glowed rapidly. He couldn't see anything. All he could see was white. Why is this happening? Then he started to feel dizzy. He tried to stay awake, but it was too strong. He fell to the ground, and the last thing he saw was white turning into black.
