Another day of work. Thirteen was standing there. Her hoofs were hurting from the labour. She had to keep working or else they would kill her, like they killed that orange pony yesterday, she was tired and she fell to the ground. She was thirsty, she begged for some water. The guards looked at her and laughed. One of them walked up to her. "You want water?" he asked.

"Here you go," he unziped his pants and proceeded to urinate directly in her face. The orange pony started crying. He zipped up his pants and walked away. He then pulled out his gun and shot the orange pony in the head. "This is what happens to ponies who wont cooperate!" he yelled. Heh, cooperation. Thats what those ponies called this. They called slavery cooperation. How did this happen? How did it come to this. She could still remember the day all of this started. It all started with the discovery of coal. Some farmers on a rock farm discovered a black rock. They soon found out it was flamable. The farmers thought the rock was too dangerous so they threw it away. But a young unicorn working there saw the potential in the rocks and started experimenting with them. He soon found out that they could be used to power various machines. He presented these findings to the princess. She was very impressed with the rock and decided to fund the unicorns research. This brought a new age to Equestria. An age of industrialization. They named the rock Coal. The discovery of coal saw a rise in jobs since more and more factories were being built to speed up production. Gunpowder was soon developed and so were guns. But with growing jobs, equestrian life was soon divided into three classes. The workers who were mostly earth ponies. The middle class who were a mix of the three pony races, and the upper class dominated by the unicorn. The earth ponies were becoming increasingly dissatisfied with the unicorn dominanc, they wanted equality. The princess obliged and granted the earth ponies and the pegasi seats in the parliament. The unicorns were not pleased. After that decision a radical unicorn faction known as the brotherhood of the black horn started gaining popularity with the unicorn population. The faction intentions were to kick the other races out and leave the leadership to the unicorns. Celestia did no stand for this, so they assassinated her. Or that's what most likely happened. One morning they found her body lying on the floor in her chambers, a knife sticking out of her back. After her burial, the Brotherhood took over. Soon after their takeover they forced all earth ponies into ghetos. Luna escaped the country since she opposed their radical views. Most were forced to leave the country. Those who didnt cooperate or spoke out loudly got a knock during the night. They created camps, work camps were most earth ponies were sent to "work" for the nation.

Thirteen worked at a coal mine. Her hoofs hurt. The guard whistled "End of the day maggots! Bring what you dug up!".

She stepped in line, she put her sack of coal over her shoulder. The guards were inspecting everypony. They were brutes. How she hated them. "Well, well," the guard stopped at an old pony. "Mr. Nix," the guard smiled. "Looks like you didnt fill the quota, you know what happens to those ponies, dont you?" he sneered. "Take him away," he ordered two other guards standing beside him. "Let's see how he spends the night in solitary confinement,". The guards started draging away Mr. Nix. Nix was like a father to her. He helped her and raised her in the camp, since her parents were murdered before she could talk. "I volunteer in his place!" she yelled. The guard turned, she remembered his face. His name was Striker. He was the guard captain in the camp. He enjoyed seeing ponies suffer. "Well, well well, look what we have here. Feeling charitable Thirteen?" he laughed. "No child, let me suffer. You are still young." said Nix. "SHUT UP!" yelled Striker. "If the bitch wants to suffer then let her suffer. Take her away!". The guards let go of Nix and took her by her shoulders. Nix looked at her, his old eyes tearing up. They dragged her to a small cell, with a  big iron door. They threw he in and shut the door. The only lightsource was a small opening above the door. She felt cold. She lay there in the middle of the cell. Wondering what was going to happen. She closed her eyes and fell asleep.
