There's a New Alicorn in Town

It was a chilly, breezy spring morning the day High Score arrived at the outskirts of Ponyville. He stood on a hill that overlooked the community. He had on his favorite (only) blue pull-over sweatshirt and a suitcase filled with more of the same sweatshirts, shampoo, soap, a comb, a console, a couple games, and two wireless controllers. With a deep breath, High Score picked his stuff up and headed towards Ponyville. Walking at a steady pace, everything seemed like home. The grass was a same light green color, the trees starting to bloom leaves, birds were chirping. The breeze in the air flowed like a river around High Score and in his black and silver mane, causing a bit of "hero wind". His game controller cutie mark shining in the sun. There wasn't a cloud in the sky, allowing Celestia's sun to cover all the land in a bright, warming light. The dirt path didn't seem to make a sound as High Score walked along. Eventually, High Score reached Ponyville and started walking around, taking a look at everything in town. Sugarcube Corner as well as the Carousel Boutique, the library, and passing the train station, with a load of passengers coming off. High Score passed many ponys on his walk around town, who would give him looks of disgust or look and then quickly look away. As if staring at him would kill them.

"Why is everypony ignoring me? The hell did I do? I just got here." High Score mumbled to himself.

High Score shrugged and headed on towards his new home. Again, ponies still giving him glares or quickly looking away. High Score really didn't mind, but it annoyed him. Finally, High Score reached his house and opened the door. A warm blast of air greeted High Score as he walked through the door, giving him a slight chill. The first thing High Score noticed was the 28" flat screen TV. It's slick, smooth, black exterior seemed stunning enough. There was a couch as well sitting in front of the TV. High Score started a tour of his new home. The kitchen looked like his old home back in Las Pegusas, with a dishwater, a white, porcelain sink with two metal handles, a refrigerator, some cabinets filled with plates and cups, and a spice cabinet.

"Alright. Let's unpack, get situated, and have try to make some friends in this town."

Unpacking took shorter than High Score had expected. Putting the sweatshirts in the clothes drawer wasn't to hard, seeing that those were his only clothe items in the case. Hooking the system was a bit of a challenge, the only reason was because High Score had to hold multiple wires at once. High Score then put some food and drinks in the fridge, added some posters to his room walls, and put dish soap under the sink. Finally, with all the stuff in their places, High Score proceeded to open the door to go back into town to find somepony to talk to and hopefully, make some friends. The breeze was still going, the chill of the air causing High Score's breath to be shown. High Score started another look around town. He passed the Carousel Boutique, the train station, library, and Sugarcube corner again and saw in the distance what appeared to a farm and an apple orchard. Intended to make some friends, High Score headed over to the apple farm. After a minute or two of walking, High Score reached Sweet Apple Acres. The massive size of the barn was like nothing High Score had ever seen before.

"H-hello?" High Score called out, nervously.

Silence.

"A-anypony there? Hello?!"

"Howdy, partner!" a voice said from behind High Score.

High Score turned around to see a mare, the same height as him. Her coat was an orange color with a blonde colored tail and ponytail. High Score noticed she was an earth pony, no unicorn horn, no wings. Her eyes were a light shade of green, which seemed to compliment her. Her cutie mark showing three red apples in a triangle formation. Her cowboy hat tilted back to show some of her mane. All High Score could do was stand there, surprised someone had finally talked to him without turning away.

"Ya'll new here in Ponyville?"

"Huh?" High Score said, finding it hard to believe that he actually had some interaction. "Oh, ya, I'm new. I'm High Score."

"Well, howdy! I'm Applejack. You call me AJ if ya want. Pleasure to meet ya." Applejack said in a cheery tone.

"Pleasure to meet you Applejack. Hey, can I ask you something?" High Score asked Applejack.

"Sure. What's your question?"

"Well, when I arrived here, everypony seemed to ignore me for being who I am. It's like they don't need an alicorn here."

Applejack froze and took a closer look at the new colt. She had only seen the wings when she met High Score. It astounded her to meet another alicorn that wasn't a princess.

"Come again?" Applejack thought she heard High Score wrong.

"Yeah. I-I'm an alicorn. Is, um, there a problem with me being who I am?" High Score seemed a little nervous saying that sentence.

Applejack, still in a bit of awe, continued to examine the new pony. She could've sworn High Score was a pegasus not even a moment ago.

"No, there's nothing wrong with ya'll bein' an alicorn, but you should meet some of my friends. They'd love to meet ya." Applejack said at a slow pace.

"Well, what are we waiting for? Let's go!" High Score was excited and relieved, but mainly relieved. He had actually made a friend.

The two headed off towards the center of town. High Score's mind was racing with thoughts. What would Applejack's friends think of him? Would they, too, run off? Or would they chat with him as well? What would they be mean? Nice? Would they hang out with him in their free time? Too many questions were running through his head, when he ran into Applejack, almost knocking her down. In front of High Score, were 5 other ponies. One unicorn, another earth pony, this being pink. Two pegusi, and another alicorn. High Score's heart stopped. Another alicorn? Impossible! High Score just stared.

"This is Pinkie Pie," Applejack pointed out. "This is Rainbow Dash." She pointed to a cyan colored pegasus with a rainbow mane and tail.

"Sweet! A new pegasus for me to race!" Rainbow Dash seemed excited.

"Anyway," Applejack continued, "This is Fluttershy. She's a bit shy." Applejack pointed out the obvious.

"Um, hi." Fluttershy said in her quiet voice, looking away slightly.

High Score wasn't surprised the Fluttershy had looked away. I mean, her name is FlutterSHY. It didn't seem to stun High Score.

Applejack continued, "This is Rarity." She runs the Carousel Boutique."

"It's a pleasure to meet you, darling." Rarity said in an accent.

"This is Twilight. The other alicorn in Ponyville."

Twilight's coat was a dark purple shade. Her tail and mane the same color with a pink streak running down both tail and mane. Her eyes a dark purple color. She seemed very pleased meeting another alicorn.

"Hi. I'm Twilight Sparkle. So, you're the new alicorn in town, huh? Neat!" Twilight seemed more excited than High Score at seeing another non-princess alicorn.

"Hi, Ms. Sparkle. It's very nice to meet another alicorn as well as having no pony running from me."

Twilight blushed. "Please, call me Twilight."

"Where ya from?" Rainbow Dash chimed in.

"Where I'm from? Oh, heh, I'm from all over Equestria. I just moved from Las Pegasus. It's nice to get away from the city. A lot quieter here, ya know?"

The ponies nodded in agreement. The others went back to talking. High Score just stared at the mare who had caught his eye in the first place. Not Twilight. But Rainbow Dash. High Score didn't know why. Maybe it was the way she was or if it was her competitive nature. He didn't know but there was something in Rainbow Dash. It was like something seemed to click. That one click.
