Chances Pt. 1

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

Rainbow Dash looked back at High Score, all while her hoof was still being held. She was speechless, all Rainbow Dash and High Score could hear was the beating of their hearts, all other sounds became inaudible. High Score suddenly regretted telling Rainbow Dash that he loved her. He just met her a day ago. How could High Score fall in love so quickly? The two continued to stare at each other. Rainbow Dash was shocked at what High Score just told her.

"You... what?" Rainbow Dash didn't know how formulate a complete sentence.

"Yes, Rainbow Dash. I love you. Even though we just met." High Score didn't know what else to say.

Rainbow Dash and High Score just floated in the water, both still in shock. High Score wanted her to say something back. Something positive. Anything. The two continued to stare at each other, neither saying anything. Had High Score made a grave mistake? Did he make the right choice? The sounds heard were the ones of nature.

"High Score, you sure? I mean, come on, we-we hardly know each other." Rainbow Dash insisted on knowing.

"Yes, Rainbow Dash. How could I not be sure. Now, yeah, we just met, but I really think I'm in love with you. The way you are. Your coat is flawless, your mane is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. Your competitive nature. You seem so tough on the outside, but I see something else past that. I see a gentle, kind, beautiful mare."

"Uh..." Rainbow Dash was speechless. All she could do was blush. "That's how you feel about me?"

"Yes. No doubt in my mind." High Score wanted to sound as confident as possible, trying to impress Rainbow Dash.

"HS, I think it's a little early to be in love for you. Like I said, we just met. We hardly know anything about each other, only a little." Rainbow Dash wanted reassure herself and High Score.

"I guess you're right. I knew I shouldn't have said that until the time was right. God, I can be such a dumbass sometimes." High Score ended his sentence with a facehoof while simultaneously shaking his head, eyes closed.

"Hey, come on. You're not a dumbass. We all can have moments where we wish we didn't say things. I've had those moments and so have Twilight, Fluttershy, and those other ponies. OK?" Rainbow Dash tried her best to comfort High Score.

"Alright. Sorry if I creeped you out at all. If I did, I didn't mean to." High Score said.

"No, you didn't." Rainbow Dash reassured High Score, whiling climbing out of the lake.

"Rainbow Dash! Wait!" High Score shouted. "Would you, uh, like to get some dinner tomorrow night?" High Score asked Rainbow Dash nervously.

Rainbow Dash turned around quickly, her eyes lit up. "I'd love to. I-I mean, yeah. That'd be cool." Rainbow Dash wanted sound like it was a question she was asked a lot.

"Great!" High Score shouted. "I'll see you at seven."

"Where are we going anyways?" Rainbow Dash questioned.

"I don't know. I'll think of something. Don't you worry, Rainbow Dash!" High Score knew he didn't have a place to eat, asking was to him like taking a shot in the dark.

"Alright! See you then. Gotta go!" Rainbow Dash shouted back, flying away.

"YEAH, SEE YOU THEN!" High Score shouted back, not knowing whether or not Rainbow Dash could hear him or not. That didn't matter. High Score had a date. All he needed was a place to eat and maybe some reservations. High Score slowly climbed out of the lake and walked over to where his sweatshirt was neatly folded. High Score shook himself dry, allowing the droplets to shower the ground around him. High Score picked up his sweatshirt, stood on two hooves, which wasn't easy, and slipped it over him. The sun had warmed the sweatshirt right up, which hugged High Score. High Score started to walk back towards his house. For some reason, he walked a little slower than usual. It allowed High Score think about Rainbow Dash, the date, where to eat, and prepare for the unexpected. Would he wear a sweatshirt? What will Rainbow Dash wear? It was like High Score's brain was under a waterfall of questions that didn't seem to end. High Score reached his house, opened the door, and sat down on the couch.

"Alright, first things first. Where to eat?" High Score felt that getting the restaurant part out of the way would be easiest. Sugarcube Corner? Maybe. Sandwich Shack? No. It had the perfect restaurant, with the right atmosphere for both High Score and Rainbow Dash. Not too classy and not too casual. High Score thought for what seemed like hours, only to be about 10 minutes. No restaurants came to High Score's mind. High Score started looking out his window to clear his mind. A cloud floated by, temporarily blocking warmth and any light in the area.

"Come on cloud, move. Wait. Clouds? Cloudsdale, that's perfect! Cloudsdale's best restaurant, The Mile Higher." High Score finally had the restaurant. Now all that needed to figured out was if a reservation was needed. High Score decided now would be a great time to fly over to The Mile Higher to see if a reservation was needed, instead of waiting until the last minute. High Score ran out of the house, almost forgetting to open the door, and took off towards Cloudsdale. The view above Ponyville was amazing. House dotted the ground like a pointillism picture with streets distinct from the homes of other ponies. The Everfree Forest lay off in the distance, with its menacing look of evil. The sight of the Everfree Forest made High Score cringe. High Score arrived at Cloudsdale and started looking for The Mile Higher. It wasn't too hard to find. It rose above the houses as well as having a concave looking building design. High Score entered the restaurant when it was about lunchtime.

"Hello, sir. How are you day?" A colt asked from behind a rectangular counter.

"I'm fine, thank you. May I ask you a question?" High Score asked the pony.

"Sure. What's your question?"

"Well, you see, I'm being a, uh, friend here tomorrow night and I was wondering if I need a reservation?"

"Let me check." The pony looked down at a book that was laying on the counter. "What time will you and your friend be arriving? I only need to know because at times during the day a reservation is needed."

"Uh, between 7 o'clock and 7:15." High Score told the colt.

"Um, yes, you need a reservation. Would you like one?" asked to colt.

"Yes, I would. Thank you." High Score was relieved that he received a reservation spot.

"OK. And who's name will this be under?"

"High Score."

"Alright, thank you. Have a nice day" the colt called out.

"You too." High Score said back as he left the building. With the reservation all set, all that was needed was to pick up Rainbow Dash and head over the Cloudsdale. High Score started to head back towards Ponyville. Houses once again dotted the ground, showing that Ponyville drew near. High Score lowered himself down to the ground and landed with a soft hoof-against-stone sound, in the town square. High Score started looking for Rainbow Dash. Where could she be? Probably sleeping if High Score couldn't find her. High Score decided to ask around to see if anypony had seen Rainbow Dash. High Score headed over to Rarity's house to see if she knew, instead of the Carousel Boutique, because High Score knew that it wasn't open that day. Distinguishing Rarity's house from the others wasn't a difficult task. Rarity's house was the fanciest house out of all the other residents. High Score walked up to the front door and knocked three times. The door open, but no pony opening it. High Score looked down and saw a filly with a white coat and a mane and tail with two light shades of purple.

"Hi. Who are you?" The young filly asked.

"I'm High Score. And who are you?" High Score said playfully.

"Oh, I'm Sweetiebelle."

"Well, it's very nice to meet you Sweetieb-" High Score was cut off by a familiar voice

"Sweetiebelle, who are you talking to? Oh, High Score! So nice to see you. Please, come in." Rarity gestured for High Score to come in.

"Thank you, Rarity. Can I ask you a question?" High Score called over his shoulder while walking over to the couch.

"Sure. Would you like some tea?"

"No thanks, but I wanted to stop by to ask you if you've seen Rainbow Dash at all today?" I need to tell her something."

"Yes, I have. I saw her talking to Twilight a little while ago over at the library." Rarity answered.

"Thanks, Rarity! Well, I'll see you around!" High Score called back as he exiting the household.

"You're welcome, darling!" Rarity called back.

High Score started trotting over to the library, hoping that Rainbow Dash was still there, reading or talking to Twilight. High Score starting galloping instead of trotting. The ground was flying past him with a light green blur, which reminded him of when he was running towards the lake earlier that day. High Score whizzed by Sugarcube Corner, almost taking out a colt walking out of the shop.

'SORRY! MY BAD!" High Score yelled over his shoulder to the colt.

High Score reached the library and slid to a stop to avoid slamming into the library door. High Score opened the door, panting. Anypony who looked up, looked right back down at their books. High Score started to look around to see if he could find Twilight or Rainbow Dash.

"Why hello there." A quiet, friendly voice said from behind High Score.

High Score turned around to see the voice came from Twilight Sparkle.

"Hey, Twilight," High Score said in a friendly tone, "Have you seen Rainbow Dash at all today? Rarity told me that Rainbow Dash was talking to you here earlier."

"Yeah. She left a couple of minutes ago. She said she was going to go to your house. Any idea why?"

"I don't know. Well, thanks. I'll see you around." High Score told Twilight.

Twilight smiled. "Right back at ya."

High Score headed back out the front entrance and towards the direction of his house. Walking, instead of trotting or galloping towards his house, helped High Score relax and clam down. His heart no longer having a heavy thudding in his chest, but a soft "lub dub" instead. The only question running through High Score's head was, Why is Rainbow Dash at my house? High Score slowly walked and let the thought dance in his head, having fun torturing his mind. High Score reached the street that he lived on and started walking down. Reaching his house in no time at all, High Score opened his door and found Rainbow Dash sitting on his couch. Rainbow Dash immediately sat up and looked over towards the door. Rainbow Dash rushed over to High Score, stopping just in time to avoid a collision between the two ponies. The two stared into each others eyes, not saying anything, just breathing and blinking.

"So, Rainbow Dash. Why did you come to my house? Leave something here?" High Score said jokingly.

"Heh, right." Rainbow Dash said nervously. "Anyways, the reason I came here was because I needed to tell you, but I didn't want anypony to be around." Rainbow Dash leaned off to the side to see if somepony was standing behind High Score. No colt or mare standing behind High Score.

"Well, I'm here. What do want to tell me?" High Score looked deep into Rainbow Dash's eyes, with a charming look in his eyes.

"Remember when you told me that you loved not that long ago?"

"Yeah?" High Score recalled from his memory.

"Well, um, that kinda got me thinking..." Rainbow Dash was embarrassed.

"You were thinking...what?" High Score tried to guide her to the end of her sentence.

Rainbow Dash looked around nervously, blushing during this. It seemed like Rainbow Dash was trying to get the awkwardness out of her system.

"I was thinking, um, kinda the same way towards you." At this point Rainbow Dash's face was redder than the apples on Applejack's cutie mark.

High Score's heart stopped. Something seemed to ping inside his heart. Any sound that could be heard, became inaudible. High Score continued to stare into Rainbow Dash's eyes with less charm this time. High Score was speechless. No word could have described how High Score felt about what Rainbow Dash had just told him. High Score found himself blushing as well. All High Score could do was breath, blink, and stare. The two ponies were motionless, like time had decided to stop at that exact moment. The house seemed to do that same, no motion.

"You..you do? You feel the same way?" High Score found it hard formulate a sentence with his brain bouncing around like a rubber bouncy ball in dryer form clothes. High Score wanted to faint. Bad idea if High Score followed through with the fainting.

"Yeah." Rainbow Dash said quietly. Rainbow Dash face changed from shy to state of embarrassment. "Dammit. I knew I shouldn't have said that."

"That's how I felt when I told you." High Score sounded sympathetic. He knew that feeling.

High Score and Rainbow Dash continued to stare. Rainbow Dash threw herself onto High Score, hugging him. That soft side of Rainbow Dash had shown through that thick outer shell. High Score answered Rainbow Dash's hug with a warming, comforting hug. The two ponies' eyes were closed, holding each other. Rainbow Dash felt a tear slide down her face. Rainbow Dash didn't try to stop it. She just let it fall onto High Score's neck. High Score felt that tear and hugged Rainbow Dash tighter. High Score kissed Rainbow Dash on the forehead.

"Please. Show me how much you love me." Rainbow Dash whispered so quietly that High Score almost didn't hear her.

"Come with me." High Score whispered into Rainbow Dash's ear.

High Score led Rainbow Dash over to the couch under his wing. High Score sat Rainbow Dash down gently. High Score quietly sat down next to her and stared into her eyes. High Score slowly closed his eyes and started towards Rainbow Dash's face. Rainbow Dash did the same. The two moved in slow enough too make the moment more romantic. Suddenly, High Score and Rainbow Dash's lips met. An explosion of love erupted into each others hearts, causing a sensation that neither pony had felt before. The two continued to have their lips locked, letting love move to and from each others lips. High Score grabbed on to Rainbow Dash and lowered himself and Rainbow Dash onto the couch, still with their lips locked, hooves behind each other heads. High Score and Rainbow Dash unlocked their lips and stared into each others eyes, light smiles on their faces.

"That the best you got?" Rainbow Dash said quietly, romantically, playfully. She was blushing.

High Score chuckled quietly. His lips went back to Rainbow Dash's, like High Score's lips were attracted to Rainbow Dash's by some magnetic force. What started as a light, loving kiss, turned into a make-out session. The two ponies kissing each other with more force than before. Their lips continued touched, but their heads were twisting, evoking a sense of want or need, like something more was needed. Tongues touching, almost like they were playing tag, causing a more romantic feeling. High Score letting Rainbow Dash be the pony on top the whole time. He didn't mind. It made him feel like it was right. Rainbow Dash had her hooves running through High Score's mane, allowing the smoothness of the mane to engulf her sense of feeling. High Score and Rainbow Dash continued, letting occasional breaths out and low moans. They were interrupted by a knock at the door.

"High Score? Rainbow Dash? Y'all in there?" The voice that asked sounded like Applejack's.

High Score and Rainbow Dash looked at each other with a looks of surprise and panic. The two quickly got up, more or less fixed their manes, and High Score headed over to the door. He opened the door and wasn't surprised that Applejack was standing there. The voice outside the door 6 seconds ago did belong to AJ. High Score smiled sheepishly while blushing. Applejack looked off to the side to see Rainbow Dash, looking over in the direction of the two ponies. Rainbow Dash couldn't help but blush. Applejack raised an eyebrow.

"Right," Applejack said slowly. "Anyway, I was wonderin' if y'all were alright. The girls and I were afraid that somethin' happen to the both of ya. But, I see you're fine. And were you..."

"NO!" High Score interrupted. "I, I mean no. We weren't doing what you think. Just some, uh, kissing." High Score told Applejack nervously, scratching the back of his head, looking off to the side of Applejack.

"Makin' out, huh? OK. I'll let y'all get back to what you were doing." Applejack punched High Score in the arm playfully.

"Heh, ya." How did Applejack know? "W-Well, see ya around, AJ."

"Bye!" Applejack called to High Score.

High Score closed the door and looked back at Rainbow Dash. High Score slightly smiled over at Rainbow Dash, she doing the same, but more sheepishly than charming. High Score walked back over to the couch and sat down next to Rainbow Dash. The two stared into each others eyes, and into their souls. Neither spoke. Both ponies hearts making a loud THUD THUD THUD.

"Thanks, HS." Rainbow Dash whispered. That was the only possible response she could think of.

"Shall we, uh, continue?" High Score asked in a charming tone, making a small gesture towards the couch.

Part of High Score wanted to continue making out with Rainbow Dash, but at the same time, part of him wanted to stop and Rainbow Dash go on with her day.

"I-I don't know. Part of me wants to continue but part of me doesn't." Rainbow Dash seemed to think what High Score thought.

The two ponies were still calming down after what just happened, breathing deeply through their noses and out their mouths. The cool air against the back of their throats felt nice, like the air was coming from a glass of water that was ice cold as well as having ice in it. High Score was sweating a little. He had a sweatshirt on the entire time. The whole time, neither pony broke eye contact, showing a little bit of confidence. Then one thought crossed High Score's mind that snapped his eyes opened, like his eyelids were whips. What would happen if the others found out? Rainbow Dash must have seen the question in High Score's eyes, because she too, had her eye lids snap open.

"I think that good for today. What do ya think, Rainbow Dash?"

"Ya," Rainbow Dash replied. "I think that's enough. Thanks."

"You're welcome. It was wonderful. Well, cya around."

Rainbow Dash got up from the couch and started walking in the direction of the door.

"Y-ya. See ya 'round." Rainbow Dash called back as she left the establishment.

Rainbow Dash couldn't believe what had just happened. She was astounded. No, that wasn't the word. Amazed? No. What word could describe how she felt. The word that could possibly describe how Rainbow Dash felt, probably wasn't a word in a dictionary at Twilight's library. All Rainbow Dash could do was... walk. It was like she, too, find the pony she wanted to spend the rest of her life with. Rainbow Dash could only wonder what would happen tomorrow night and dinner with High Score.

High Score sat on the couch, taking in what just had happened. All High Score could do was touch his lips too slightly, it was like he didn't even touch his lips. All High Score could think was Rainbow Dash and that session between the two lovers. The way Rainbow Dash kissed was like nothing High Score had never experienced before. It was fireworks were exploding during the kiss. These weren't regular fireworks that High Score had felt before. These were different. The normal fireworks that High Score felt were small, warm fireworks. These fireworks were like bombs, exploding with such force that the fireworks were hotter than Celestia's sun at noon, during the summer. High Score rested on the couch, stared at the ceiling and whispered,

"Thank you."

High Score stood in front of his mirror, getting ready for the date at 7:15. High Score glanced at the mini clock on the bathroom counter. 6:50 PM. High Score had 10 minutes to get ready and pick Rainbow Dash up. High Score's hair was straighter than a table, his tail short tail the same. The only thing keeping High Score from setting out to get Rainbow Dash, was whether or not to wear his sweatshirt. Wearing his sweatshirt would seem to casual, but not wearing one would seem incorrect. High Score stared into the mirror, when something snagged his eyes' attention. 10 gold bands. High Score had forgotten that he had packed them. They were gifts from his parents when we graduated from flight school. High Score floated the bands over to him, with a golden aura surrounding the bands. High Score slid the joint band which restricted wing movement slightly, but High Score wasn't going to need to fly fast tonight. High Score kept his wings out and spread apart. He carefully slid each one one after putting the joint band on. Glancing at the clock send a rush of adrenaline throughout High Score's body. 6:55 PM. High Score rushed out the door, sprinting to pick Rainbow Dash up at the town square and then head to the Mile Higher. The air that night was cool and crisp, which didn't seem to faze High Score. The town square was off in the distance. Would've taken High Score longer to reach the square if he wasn't running. High Score spotted Rainbow Dash and slowed from a gallop, to a calm walking pace.

"Hey, Rainbow Dash. You ready?" High Score knew that Rainbow Dash was ready. She was already at the square waiting.

When Rainbow Dash turned around, High Score's jaw dropped. He didn't even think his jaw could drop as low as it was without snapping off like a twig on a tree on a windy day. High Score's eyes widen. Rainbow Dash had her mane fixed up a bit, from it's somewhat messy mane style, to a straight mane with a small curl on the end. Rainbow Dash's tail had an elastic near the end, so the middle part of her tail seemed enlarged. High Score had words falling on top of his other words, creating jumbled sentences.

"So...? How do I look?" Rainbow Dash asked, while simultaneously moving her tail to give High Score a better look.

"You look...amazing." High Score kept staring, jaw dropped.

It was like nothing High Score had ever seen before. None of the mare he had ever dated never fixed up like Rainbow Dash. Not even close. High Score's wings went from a rested, relaxed position, to a opened position. High Score was embarrassed, which caused him to blush. This never happened to him before. Rainbow Dash had noticed High Score's wings and giggled, covering her mouth with her hoof.

"Sh-Shall we get going?" High Score stuttered.

"Sure, hard-wing." Rainbow Dash snickered at her own joke.

High Score laughed nervously. Why did that have to happen? Wasn't his fault. It's was his brain's fault, playing some sick joke on High Score. The two love-ponies set off towards The Mile Higher. Rainbow Dash and High Score both flew at a slow pace. It had been 7:05 PM when they left the town square. 10 minutes left to get to the restaurant before the reservations were taken off the list. High Score tired to get him heart rate under control, but with all the possible scenarios, his heart rate didn't go down, but it was like High Score's heart rate was going up.

"So, where are we eating, High Score?" Rainbow Dash nudged High Score slightly, but enough to startle him.

"Where are going? Oh ya, heh, that. Um, it's a surprise, Rainbow Dash." High Score had a feeling that Rainbow Dash would have asked.

"Come on, tell me."

"Can't. Sorry."

"Please?"

"Nope."

"Not even a hint?"

"Sorry, Rainbow Dash. Surprises are surprises."

High Score and Rainbow Dash had finally reached The Mile Higher. When Rainbow Dash saw the concave shaped building, she squealed with delight. She throw her hooves around High Score's neck, almost choking him in the process.

"Oh my God! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I love you so much!" Rainbow Dash ended her sentence with a peck on High Score's cheek. High Score could only blush.

"You've never been here?" High Score raised one eyebrow at Rainbow Dash.

"No. I've always wanted to go here since I was a little filly. I love you so much!"

"Well, there ya go. We should be heading in now." High Score checked a watch that he had around his neck, which also held all Bits he may have need for the night.

"That would be a good idea." Rainbow Dash's voice had eager in there somewhere.

Rainbow Dash and High Score headed into The Mile Higher. High Score, being the gentlecolt he is, opened the door for Rainbow Dash, allowing her to enter first. High Score followed behind her. The aroma of spices, onions, peppers, and other kitchen food items flooded High Score and Rainbow Dash's noses. Even though the two weren't hunger, the smell had their stomach grumbling. Ponies were sitting in ones, twos, and groups of fours, eating and talking. Ponies walking around with platters full of food, drinks, and others carrying bills to tables.

"Good evening. Do you have a reservation?" A mare behind a counter asked High Score.

"Yes."

"Name?"

"It should be under High Score."

"Ummm," The mare scanned the reservation board, "Yes, we do have a reservation for you." The mare grabbed a couple of menus. "This way please."

"After you, Rainbow Dash." High Score stepped aside, allowing Rainbow Dash to pass by.

High Score and Rainbow Dash followed the mare to their table. As they walked, they past table of other ponies, chatting it up, eating, looking at menus, or paying the bill. The aroma of the kitchen wafted out into the dining area, causing High Score and Rainbow Dash's hunger to increase. The three ponies reached the table and the mare put the menus down on the table.

"Here you are." The mare said in a cheery tone with a smile.

High Score and Rainbow Dash sat down and opened up their menus. Everything looked delicious. Hay Salad, The Fruit Lover's Plate, the Premium Platter, and the Regular all interested High Score. Rainbow Dash was staring down at her menu, hardly blinking, like the way a statue stood at the Canterlot Garden. Everything looked worth a sho-

"Hi, I'm Sweet Flavor. I'll be your waitress for tonight. Could I start you off with some drinks?" Sweet Flavor had a beige coat with a yellow mane. Sweet Flavor pulled a note pad and pen from her side pocket.

"I'll have the Canterlot red wine." High Score said.

"And for you?" Sweet Flavor asked Rainbow Dash.

"I'll have the Canterlot wine as well."

"Alright, I'll have those out in a sec." Sweet Flavor said while scribbling the drink order down. She left with a smile.

As Sweet Flavor walked away, the scents coming form the kitchen caused High Score and Rainbow Dash's hunger to grow. Their stomachs seemed to rumble so loud, they though the building might have collapsed of top of them.

"It's more than a second." Rainbow Dash said jokingly, with a smirk on her face.

"I'm gunna have to talk to the manager about this." High Score joked.

High Score and Rainbow Dash continued looking over the menu. High Score had a hard time picking what to eat. High Score looked up to see Rainbow Dash looking back at her menu again, in the same choosing-of-food trance that High Score was in.

"What are you getting, High Score?" Rainbow Dash had finally looked up.

"Well, I can't decide between the, uh, Hay Salad or the Premium Platter. What are you ordering?"

"I'm gunna order the Premium Platter."

"Hmm, it does look good. Maybe I will get it." High Score thought that ordering the Platter would be a good choice over the Fruit Lover.

"You don't have to order what I'm ordering. Choose what you want." Rainbow Dash insisted.

"What? I'm not choosing what you're choosing. It does look good."

"Suuurrre." Rainbow Dash said sarcastically.

High Score gave Rainbow Dash a nudge on the shoulder.

A few minutes later, the wine arrived. Sweet Flavor was floating the tray that held a wine bottle and two glasses, above her head. Sweet Flavor lowered the tray to table height and set the wine bottle down and the glasses down.

"Here you are. Let me pour some the wine for you."  Sweet Flavor filled each glass about half full. The wine flowed like a red river into the glasses. A sweet grape scent rose from the glasses, which High Score enjoyed more than Rainbow Dash, who enjoyed the scent, just not as much. Rainbow Dash seemed more like a beer, tequila, and liquor kind of mare.

"Are you two ready to order?" Sweet Flavor asked in a happy tone.

"Sure. Rainbow Dash?" High Score gestured towards her.

"Yeah. I'll have the Premium Platter."

"OK," Sweet Flavor acknowledged, writing Rainbow Dash's order down. "And for you, sir?"

"I'll have the Platter as well." High Score said this while he gathered Rainbow Dash's menu along with his and put it on Sweet Flavor's tray.

Sweet Flavor jotted down High Score's order.  "Alright. I'll have that out in a few minutes."

Sweet Flavor walked away from the table, towards the kitchen, and through the door. High Score picked up his glass and gave it a slight twirl, allowing the drink to mix a little more. He brought the glass up to his lips and took a sip. A sweet flavor of the wine flowed over his tongue, enjoying the drink's flavor. Rainbow Dash picked her glass up and took a sip, without twirling the glass. She seemed to enjoy it just as much. They set their glasses down and looked at each others eyes. They had the same idea with the way the wine tasted. Sweet, as well as alcoholic. High Score scratched his neck, trying to think of something to say.

"So, um, how's it going with you and weather?" Stupid question number one of the night.

"It' going pretty well." Rainbow Dash replied, giggling as she spoke. "How's it going with the gaming?"

"Not so good. I keep losing cause all I think about is you."

"That's sweet. Didn't think that was possible." Rainbow Dash said sarcastically

"Oh, ha ha. And you don't think about me when it comes to clearing the skies or creating the weather." High Score shot back.

"Oh, I'm thinking about you." Rainbow Dash said quietly, blushing slightly.

"So THAT'S way the have so clear lately. Trying to impress me, huh?" High Score said with an upward nod.

"Yeah, guess so." Rainbow Dash looked down slightly.

"Uh, what have you been doing lately?" High Score asked Rainbow Dash.

"Oh, you know, weather stuff," Rainbow Dash replied with a sarcastic look. "I've also been flying from the town square to the Everfree Forest and back, in about 3 minutes. Tough work cause I'm trying to improve my time."

"Sounds like fun. Kinda wish I could fly that fast." High Score was a little jealous.

"Eh, you might be able to fly pretty fast if you tried." Rainbow Dash wanted to be supportive.

"Thanks, Rainbow Dash. I can always count on you for some supportive statements."

Rainbow Dash giggled, cover her mouth with her hoof.

High Score spied his and Rainbow Dash's food coming their way. Sweet Flavor had a platter, held above her head, with two orders of Premium Platter. Both plates were steaming from what High Score could see.

"Here you are. Two orders of the Premium Platter." Sweet Flavor lowered Rainbow Dash's  down. "And your Platter, sir." Sweet Flavor said while lowering the platter. "Enjoy."

"Thank you." High Score said, giving Sweet Flavor a warm smile.

The aroma arising from the meals blasted itself into Rainbow Dash's and High Score's noses. High Score's mouth started to water, waiting for the first bite. Rainbow Dash looked down and back up at High Score, having the same sensation of hunger.

"Go ahead, Rainbow Dash. Don't wait for me." High Score picked up his napkin and placed it on his lap, and processed to pick levitate his fork and knife.

"Alright, if you say so. I'm starving." Rainbow Dash dug right in, crudely cutting the salmon into small chunks.

High Score took a more calm approach. He carefully cut a small piece off the fruit and brought the fork to his mouth. When High Score bit down on a piece of fruit, the juices from within exploded in a dance of salt and spices. He chewed his  piece, grinding it into a piece that can be swallowed. He swallowed with delight. High Score needed another piece. He cut another piece more quickly, and brought the fork back up to his mouth. Once again, salt and spices exploded onto his tongue. High Score put his fork and knife down and picked up his wine glass, and took a big sip, swallowing half of what was left. High Score tilted his head back slightly and drank what was left, causing him to feel a tad bit woozy. High Score looked at Rainbow Dash who, having started on her Premium Platter first, had 1/4 of the original hay and fruit left. High Score only had half of a  left. He down the glass and picked up his fork and knife once more. Instead of cutting a small piece off, High Score cut 1/4 of the remaining meal off and brought the piece to his mouth. He knew that the hay and fruit had it's sweet taste, but was too hunger to care about taste. High Score cut another fourth off and ate that. He then cut what remained in half, ate one half, swallowed, and chewed and swallowed the other half. High Score looked up to see Rainbow Dash's plate had been cleared, and was taking a sip off her wine.

"How was your dinner, Rainbow Dash?" High Score politely asked.

"Fine," Rainbow Dash replied. "And yours?"

"Terrific. Want a little more wine?" High Score asked, raising the bottle, which seemed surprisingly lighter, like somepony came by, took a swig, and left.

"No thanks, I'm fine. But, thanks for the offer." Rainbow Dash said, before taking a bigger sip of the red wine.

Everything was going better than expected to High Score. No spills, no accidental waiter or waitress tripping, no burping. Just one stupid question. Other than that, everything was fine. The food was great, the wine was simply fantastic. Nothing stood in the way of the perfect evening. High Score spotted Sweet Flavor and waved her over. Sweet Flavor walked at a normal waitress walking pace, so it didn't seem like she was in a rush.

"How may I help you?" Sweet Flavor asked, looking at High Score.

"Could I get the bill, please?" High Score asked.

"Sure. One moment." Sweet Flavor walked off to get the bill. She returned with the bill in her pocket. "Here you are." Sweet Flavor said, while placing the bill down on the table.

"Thank you."

High Score looked down at the bill. 43 bits. Less than High Score had anticipated, but it worked. High Score took the from around his neck and found the little compartment for his bits. High Score had taken 70 bits, obviously over estimating the cost, but just to be sure. He counted out 43 bits and put them in a pocket that the bill contained. High Score looked up at Rainbow Dash.

"You ready?"

Rainbow Dash took a final sip of the wine. "Yep. All set."

The two started walking towards the front door. High Score held onto the check and walked in the direction of the front counter.

"Here you go." High Score said while handing the bill over.

"Thank you. Let me just check to make sure there's the right amount of bits." A white coated, blue maned colt said. "Alright. You two have a great night." The colt said politely.

"Thanks, you too." High Score said back.

High Score and Rainbow Dash headed out the door. High Score held the door open for Rainbow Dash once again, being the gentlecolt he was. Rainbow Dash gave him a thanking nod. High Score followed right behind her. The two ponies walked a short distance, until they reached the edge of the cloud The Mile Higher was on, and flew off. High Score and Rainbow Dash flew at a quiet, slow pace. The air was dry and cool, with a slight breeze, which made High Score shiver. Rainbow Dash didn't seem affected at all. High Score's worries went away as they flew away for The Mile Higher, and towards Ponyville. The night ended the way High Score had hoped for. Nothing bad had happened! High Score was amazed that all bad scenarios didn't arrive.

"That was really sweet of you, High Score. I love you." Rainbow Dash said with a affection, semi-quiet tone.

"Oh, it was nothing." High Score said, looking to the side of Rainbow Dash.

"No, really. I'm so happy you took me there. You're the best." Rainbow Dash gave High Score a kiss on the cheek.

High Score blushed, not saying anything. He was amazed by how Rainbow Dash was excited when they had arrived at The Mile Higher, and now, as they headed back to Ponyville. The two ponies were coming up on the town square. High Score raised his watch to his face. The watch read 10:45 PM. They were out that late? High Score could've sworn that they were only in there for an hour. Oh well. Time is time. High Score and Rainbow Dash reached the town square and lowered themselves to the ground.

Rainbow Dash down and to the right slightly, but continued eye contact with High Score.

"Thanks, High Score. That was wonderful."

High Score scratched his neck. "It was wonderful, Rainbow Dash. Well, I'll see you tomorrow." High Score gave Rainbow Dash a kiss on the cheek and started walking towards his house.

"Wait!" Rainbow Dash called out.

High Score turned around and walked back. "Yeah, Rainbow Dash, what's up?"

"Um, well, I was, uh, wondering if I could stay with you for tonight." Rainbow Dash started to blush.

High Score's heart stopped. On top of the fantastic dinner, Rainbow Dash wanted to sleep at his place for the night. The night just kept getting better and better.

"Sure, Rainbow Dash. Let's go." High Score threw a wing around Rainbow Dash.

"Thanks."

As High Score and Rainbow Dash walked along, High Score's heart was pounding and his mind racing. Rainbow Dash, staying at his place? Was he dreaming? Was Rainbow Dash joking? That was a dumb thought. Of course Rainbow Dash wasn't joking. She ASKED him. High Score just kept walking silently, letting his mind run a muck. When they reached High Score's house, High Score opened the door for Rainbow Dash, allowing her in first. Both were greeted with warm blasts of air, warming them up from the cool air of the night. High Score closed the door behind them. Rainbow Dash walked over to the bathroom. While she did that, High Score carefully took his wing bands off and took his watch off from around his neck. High Score walked from the kitchen/living room, to his bedroom. He placed them in a special compartment inside his dresser and waited for Rainbow Dash to come out of the bathroom. When Rainbow Dash did come out of the bathroom she looked left then right. walked right down the hall, and into High Score's room. Rainbow Dash took the one side High Score wasn't sitting on. High Score was pulling the sheets up for himself and Rainbow Dash. High Score climbed into bed and gestured Rainbow Dash to do the same. Rainbow Dash climbed into the bed, and faced High Score. High Score turned out the light, the only light being the moon's own light.

"Hey, uh, High Score?" Rainbow Dash whispered nervously.

"Yeah, Rainbow Dash? What is it?" High Score whispered back.

"Thanks for letting me sleep here tonight. I love you."

"You're welcome. Love you too, by the way.

As High Score and Rainbow Dash drifted off into sleep, one question kept crossing each ponies mind. One question that bothered both from the moment Applejack interrupted their little session. One question than gnawed at each others brain. for hours.

Who would make the move first?
