Chapter 3: Introductions and Explosive Surprises

Alright so short recap, I am now held hostage by a group of short colorful ponies, not just any old ponies but mythical ones at that, some have horns, others have wings, and apparently some have both, now their so called princess has shown up and wants answers, which I have so graciously denied.

“Look everyone I don’t mean to be rude or anything but I really have to get going.” I say once again only for my advance to be halted by said ponies.

“You mean everypony, and where do you have to go in such a rush, we haven’t even gotten a chance to know you yet” said Twilight as she began to trot over to me. I never think I’m ever going to get used to this, I mean the little things only come up to my midsection it’s seriously laughable, the only one that actually compares to my size is that large white one who I assume is this princess Twilight keeps going on about.

“Everyone, everypony, who cares I really have to get going this is an urgent situation” Which it truly was for all I know my home could be overrun with the hell spawn that roam the lands of minecraft. I’m really going to have to come up with a new name for that place.

“But where is this place” my inner monologue was cut off by a soft voice, I snapped back and noticed the yellow Pegasus spoke up, the others in the room stopped to stare at her which she only seemed to shrink under their gaze, apparently she must not speak out much”

“You don’t need to know, now will you please let me go” at this point I had at least been let out of the chair but they refused to allow me access to the front door.

“You are not to be set free creature, at least not until I know you are not a danger to my little ponies” said the princess, she had begun to stare me down with soul piercing eyes, I could not help but slightly shrink under her gaze.

Sighing in defeat I slumped my shoulders, “Fine what do you want from me”. Immediately as I said this Twilight’s eyes lit up with excitement, she trotted over to the princess and whispered something to her, the princess only nodded to which the other ponies including myself could only watch until their small conversation came to a close.

“it is decided you are to be put under the care of my personal student Twilight Sparkle until you are deemed harmless, in the mean time she will run various tests on you to see how you react to your new world, it’s not every day a new creature stumbles into our land” the princess said while having a stern tone in her voice, “but as for now you are to get to know Twilight and her friends, you are alone in this world make the best of it” the pink one seemed to explode at this point in excitement, when I say she jumped off wall I would not be kidding she literately bounced off the wall and ceiling in a comedic way until finally she seemed to just disappear out of sight.

“Does she normally do that” I said looking at where she had just been seconds before.

“It’s just pinkie being pinkie now come on lets ge….” Twilight was cut off as a large boom resounded from outside.

“What was that” said a young sounding male voice up stairs.

“I don’t know Spike please come down and meet our guest” Twilight said. “Applejack please go check what that was.”

“Alright Twi” said the orange pony, she trotted over to one of the windows adjacent to the front door. “Umm Yawl might want to see this.”

“See wha…” said the same young voice again. I turned around to see what looked like an overgrown lizard standing on the stairs.

“What is that thing” both of us said in unison completely transfixed on one another. My attention was once again brought back to the window as another explosion could be heard, this one much closer.

Switching my position so I could see out the window I witnessed ponies running down the street screaming as they did so, they all ran in one direction, as though running from the same thing. Screams of terror and agony filled the air, so much so that it was clearly audible from inside.

“Umm what is everypony running from” Said the voice of Fluttershy, even meeker than before.

“Uhh, I think that thing” said rainbow se pointed to a large green bulbous looking creature, it walked on four legs and hissed as it did so, it was green and awkward but it ran fast.  One unlucky pony was unable to outrun the green creature, the creature began to convulse and expand until “BOOM” it exploded, creating a small crater where it had been standing. The poor pony was sent flying towards the library its hair singed and its coat covered in burn marks.

“I… is that Lyra” Fluttershy squeaked out, the pony that had been in the blast from what I could see had a minty colored coat and mane, at least the parts that weren’t singed and blackened.

“Let me out now” was all I could say.

“But”

“No but’s do you want your friend to die or not” I spoke in a stern voice looking down to the ponies. They did not argue Twilight used her magic to open the door.

There lying on the cobbled side walk was the blackened pony, she seemed feminine in physique she even had a horn. She was struggling there slowly bleeding as a pool of the dark red liquid began to pool on the side walk.

I didn’t hesitate I bolted out of the library as fast as possible, making a beeline straight for the suffering pony. She was around 30 feet away and in the opposite direction more of those creatures could be seen running down the street. Besides the pony me and the creatures the street was barren except.

I finally made it to the pony presumably Lyra. She greatly injured, here left leg was definitely broken, she had multiple burns and lacerations, and on her left haunch there was very large deep wound. She whimpered her eyes fluttering trying their hardest to stay open. She attempted to talk but nothing came out I silenced her by gently scooping her up in my arms, taking extra care to cause her the least amount of pain as possible.

“You’re going to be ok, I’m not going to let you die here” was all I said as I stood back up, her form quivering in my arms. I turned to look back to the library, I saw the group of ponies flagging me down from one of the closed windows, by now it was too late there were at least 3 of these bulbous creatures standing between me and the library. The pony in my arms would only slow me down it’s either drop her and get to safety or keep a hold and risk getting blown up.

“Ehh life’s never easy” I said to particularly no one under my breath. Taking off as fast as my legs would allow in the direction of the library, meeting the first creature halfway, it began to convulse, I quickly side stepped it kicking off it side causing it to fall over, it then exploded several seconds later sending bits of rock all over.

The shockwave enough to push me forwards, I could feel as small pebbles embedded themselves in my arms and legs it was extremely unpleasant as a small cry escaped my lips. The pony in my arms only shrunk more. The other two creatures continued their advance.

Quickly thinking I picked up a rock with my free arm and once more continued my charge against the creatures once they got close enough I tossed the rock to the one on the left hitting it in its face. The creature stumbled into the other giving me a big enough time gap to slip through. I passed the creature and was now only feet from the library’s door. It swung open revealing the ponies inside.

Looking back both creatures had swollen up and went out in a massive explosion, sending me flying into the library and onto the hard wood floor on my back, I had my arms around the quivering pony to shield her from the shrapnel and blast.

I released my hold on her, her bloodied form sprawled out on my chest. I looked into her eyes which had dark golden irises.

“Thank you” was all she said before she blacked out. I looked around to the ponies around me, they all were petrified in shock and terror.

“What are you all waiting for, she needs help now” I yelled out catching their attention

No words were said, there were only nods of understanding, even the little lizard boy silently nodded, Fluttershy brought out a blanket and laid it out on the floor, I put the ponies limp body on the blanket and allowed her to do her thing.

I walked over to the window to oversee the destruction, the cobbled street had several holes in random places. Windows were broken and blood soaked the sidewalk.

“What were those things” said the princess from behind me. Heh I had forgotten that the princess and her guards were still here.

“Well I can only speculate but from what I know their called creepers” I said turning back to the princess, she seemed to have multiple emotions, I could see her fear and confusion.

“And where did these creeper’s come from.”

“Exactly from where I came from, why do you think I insisted on leaving, I knew that I wouldn’t be the only thing coming from that portal.”

“You never mentioned a portal, and you never mentioned them” she said taking a step forward looking down upon me with an accusing glare.

“I told you that you didn’t need to know, now look we have a bigger problem here. I’ll make you a deal, if I help clean up your town of the creeper infestation I get to go back and plug up the portal.” I said sticking out my hand, the princess eyed my hand for a few seconds.

“It will be a deal, but when go back you are to be escorted by a group of my own personal guards, and you will not block off this portal not until both my sister and I say so” she said looking back to my hand. I believe this is the closest I will get to an answer here so it would be best to not argue.

“*sigh, you have a deal princess” I said grasping her good and shaking it, she smiled warmly and turned back to the ponies, all of which were dressing lyra’s wounds. Amazingly in that short period lyra’s wounds had been mended.

“Twilight may I please have a word with you in private” the princess said as she moved past Twilight.

“Of course princess, girls keep an eye on our guest” she said as she looked back almost with fear in her eyes. After the two left the room was silent, all of the ponies eyed me but as soon as I would glance to one they would look away, it was the same with the guards as well. The silence had begun to get to me so finally I decided to speak out.

“Umm how exactly did you get her fixed up that fast” I said for all to hear trying not to sound awkward as I spoke. Being the center of attention has never been something that I have really enjoyed. Yet another long silence ensued until the white Unicorn spoke up.

“well you see Twilight and I are both Unicorns and being so we can use magic, we were able to magically mend her wounds” She said, she stepped closer and eyed my cloths once more, my once clean shirt and pants had holes and tears in them, not to mention a very large blood stain on the front of both my shirt and pants. She seemed disgusted but said nothing.

“Hey it’s not my fault that my shirt and pants are all ripped and stained, if it were up to me no I would get a new pair, but unfortunately I happen to have none.” To this remark she seemed to perk up a bit even to the point of happiness.

“Well darling I run a boutique not far from here, please visit once this whole fiasco is over oh would you please.” She said almost begging. Hell I would be an idiot if I were to pass up the opportunity to get some new cloths.

“I will make sure to do that miss…”

“Oh just call me Rarity darling” she said once more taking a seat with the others.

“Look I’m tired of trying to guess your names, will you please introduce yourselves it would make my life a little easier.” I said standing up in front of ponies. There was some sighing but eventually they all stood up and approached me. The first one up was the pink devil who once again seemed to pop out of now where,

“MynamesPinkiePie” she said all in one word barley catching it I created here with a hand shake or in this case a hoof shake, I don’t know how but she somehow was able to grip my hand with her hoof, the girl damn near ripped my arm out of its socket

“Well it’s nice to meet you Pinkie Pie” I said trying to conceal the pain in my arm, not mention the pain from the little bits of rock stuck inside of me. “Who’s next” the rainbow manned Pegasus trotted up next.

“The names Rainbow Dash, and if you did know already I’m the fastest flier in equestrian” she said taking some kind of heroic pose with mock confidence.

“Heh, of course you are, well it’s a pleasure to meet you Rainbow Dash” I said extending my arm for another hoof shake only to be met with a fist bump, hmm hoof bump. Up next is Rarity.

“Ha, sit back down Rarity I already met you”

“But”

“No but’s please sit back down” I said giving her a playful smirk, she only huffed and took a seat next to Rainbow, who only chuckled at Rarities scowl. Up next was the orange pony that had neither wings nor horn but had some kind of Stetson cowboy hat on.

“Ma names Apple Jack” was all she said, she had a thick southern accent. I shook her hoof, her shake was strong but short.

“Hmm pony of few words huh, alright” I said releasing my grasp on her hoof and allowing her to take a seat with the others. Last was the yellow coated Pegasus, she was very shy and timid and took her time approaching me.

“Umm m… my names Fluttershy” she whispered out, it was barely audible but enough so I could here. I kneeled down to the point where I was eye level with her trying to not seem so menacing. I offer her a warm smile and extend my arm out to her expecting a shake or fist bump, instead she flat out hugs me and whispers “thank you for saving my friend” she quickly lets go and retreats back to her friends attempting to hide behind them, I could see a small crimson hue on her cheeks as she tried to hide.

I sit there shocked for a few seconds before I come to, “ahh well then it’s been a pleasure meeting all of you.” I said sitting down on one of the couches around the room” now if you’ll excuse me I am very tired so I’m going to take a short nap. All of the ponies just staring at me once again only nod in understanding. I close my eyes and begin to drift off only to be assaulted by the sound of breathing next to my head, I can hear the sound of suppressed mumbles.

“If you’re trying to watch me sleep you might want to be more quite” I whisper only to hear a squeak and a thump as though someone fell. I chuckle to myself as I drift off into a deep slumber.

(DEEP IN THE EVERFREE)

A large dark arm manifests from the swirling vortex, black lanky legs emerge and a head with soulless eyes come to be, the emaciated figure stalks out of the portal, it’s fellow mobs skulk around as it moves further. It has one goal one main motive, induct or eliminate the one known as Devon.
