"I.....give up..." Von said. Arcius, Axel and Daring were shocked by what Von said. To think that he would give up....after he fought so hard for what he believed in....it was unthinkable.
"Von..." Daring started. "You can't be serious!" Von got onto his feet, but he didn't look at her.
"I am....I can't fight anymore. I'm took exhausted. If I fought, she'd probably kill me and all of you, too. This is for the best..."
"Von..." His two dragon friends called out. But Von ignored them. He made his choice. It was the right thing to do. If he didn't surrender, all of Ponyville would suffer.
"Nice to see you made the right choice, Vonny." Cynder said, "Let's go home, shall we?" She spread her wings and took to the skies and waited for him. Von was about to spread his wings and fly with her when he noticed something in the corner of his eye. It was Storm, the pegasus he encountered earlier. She was in tears. She heard what he said and saw what happened. Von turned his head in her direction and just stared at her. Storm crept closer to him, still in tears and without a word, she kissed him. Though it was reluctant, given the situation, Von kissed her back and turned away from her.
Von spread his wings and was about to take off when Storm called out to him.
"Y-you'll come back, right?" She asked. Von couldn't look her in the eye and just hearing her ask that broke his heart. He knew the terms of dragon duels. He knew what would happen if he lost. But he couldn't tell her. It would only crush her more.
"Y-yeah. I'll come back. I can't guarantee when, but I'll come back." He told her. This made Storm smile, yet she was still crying.
"OK...." She said. With that final exchange, Von flew off, catching up to Cynder and the two of them flew away. Arcius and the rest looked on, hoping Von would turn back and come back to them. But there was no point. He went out of their view. He was really gone.
"That was a little cruel. Lying to that pony like that. Heh. Getting her hopes up for nothing. Maybe there's hope for you yet." Cynder said. But Von stayed silent. He knew what he did was cruel. But it was for her own good. Better for her to have hope rather than no hope at all. "Whatever. Anyway, when we get home, I intend on making the most of my victory." She said. Von's ears flopped to the back of his head. He knew exactly what she meant. He didn't need a refresher on dragon culture to know what was going to happen next. The thought scared him.....
But Von knew this was going to happen. There was no fighting it. The moment he gave up, he knew what would befall him........and there was no turning back.

When Von and Cynder arrived back at the mountain, Konan had anticipated their arrival and was waiting for them.
"So glad to see you've returned, Von." He told him. "Did you have fun with the ponies?" Von remained silent. He didn't want a thing to do with this ass of a step-father. But Cynder saw this and smiled down at him.
"Tell him how much fun you had, Von. I'm sure he'd love to hear it." She ordered. And surely enough, Von obeyed. He told Konan everything that had happened to him since he arrived in Equestria. The friends he made, the love he found, the strength he gained. He told him everything. As much as his heart told him not to, he had no choice. Though born a half-breed, he still had to adhere to dragon code. Including what Cynder desired.
"Well I hope you had all the fun you could have because you are NEVER--" Upon emphasizing that word, Konan struck Von across his face, causing the young kirin to fall onto his back. "--going back there again. Cynder, do as you please with him." Konan turned his back and walked away and Cynder smiled at Von.

Cynder threw Von into a nearby cave and he hit his back against the wall pretty hard and fell to the ground. Before he could react, Cynder grabbed his throat and let go of him. When he opened his eyes and looked down, he noticed some kind of collar around his neck and a chain attached to a nearby rock.

Cynder smiled and started to lower her hips and stopped when the tip poked against her, causing a low moan to escape from both her lips and Von's.

"I will never find you attractive. You may do as you want to me, but I will never love you back. Girls like you make me sick. "W-wait! Cynder! please, don't!" Von pleaded. But his pleas fell on deaf ears.
"Goodbye..." The tips of her claws shined in the light.
"NO!!! NO PLEA--"

Cynder stood up, withdrawing her claws from Von's neck as a torrent of blood sprayed out, soaking her feet.
"Half-breed scum." She hissed. She smiled at him one last time and left the cave, leaving him behind.
Von's body fell over, his head laying in a pool of his own blood. Cold. Unmoving, with a look of fear and sorrow present on his face. In his mind, the memories and good times he shared with his friends played. His entire life flashed before his eyes as the last bit of life he had began to slip away.
"....S......t......or.....m..........." He called out in a raspy voice. His last words. His final breath was spent. His eyes closed as his life faded. Von was no more. He left to find hope, but was confronted by death. His future cut off, his dream unrealized.
"How could it come to this?" A female voice rang out. From the darkness of the void, the figure appeared. It was Princess Luna, yet it was not. The body was hers, yet the voice was not.
"I do not know..." Spoke a male voice. The figure appeared from the void in the form of Voyager. Yet, he was not himself. He was transparent, his body fading. "But it seems my time has come once more....now that his life has faded."
"I thought that perhaps he could make a difference.......but it seems not even he could withstand the darkness." Luna said in a sorrowful tone. Voyager looked down and shed a single tear: the last thing he could even do as his body faded into nothingness. Luna looked up into the endless void, her sadness filling the area.
"Who would wish for such a thing to come about?"
