How It Begins

Rainbow Dash was walking out of Twilight’s library with a copy of the next Daring Do book in her saddlebags when she saw Fluttershy walking in her general direction, but avoiding eye contact. Fluttershy apprehensively approached her friend with an unusual and, in her mind, embarrassing proposition. Her brash blue friend noticed that the pink and yellow pony was acting even more shy than usual, and approached her, asking what was wrong.

“It’s n...,” Fluttershy started and stopped.

“C’mon, I know there’s something you need to say when you act like that, so you might as well say it,” retorted Rainbow Dash.

With that, Fluttershy promptly said something to the order of “sorrylettucepretendthisneverhappened” and bolted, galloping at a speed that impressed even Rainbow Dash.

“I wonder what caused her to panic this time,” Dash thought to herself. “Was she expecting to talk to somepony else?”

Rainbow left for her house between Cloudsdale and Ponyville, running into her biggest fan and top stalker, Scootaloo. The orange filly asked her usual question, pre-empting the response to her previous usual question. “How do I become as awesome as you?” she asked.

Rainbow Dash, realising she did not really have any good advice, decided to see if making a tautological loop would stem the requests for advice until she could actually think of actual advice and responded, “By flying as great as I do.” “But being as awesome as you is your answer to how to fly as great as you do,” the filly said.

Rainbow realised she had hit a nerve with the president of her fan club. Knowing from other ponies about how quickly fandoms became hatedoms, she decided to try honesty about personal shortcomings for once and admitted that as good as she was at flying, she did not really know about teaching flight. Scootaloo was rather displeased at the answer and turned away to places unknown when Dash had an idea. She flew up to the filly and told her that she did once teach another pony to fly and that she also knew an even better beginner’s flight instructor. Scootaloo hugged Dash’s front legs and then ran off to check her calendar for a break from crusading to learn to fly. Dash, for her part, continued home for some sleep before an all-day training session starting early next morning.

Author's Note

More like "Atuhor's Nose"! (Apologies to Peter Chimera.)

The original of this is linked here, in its PDF glory. It was some fun with LaTeX, as some other readers have pointed out, yet it lacks in equations.

Be as critical as you wish, especially since I've tried to merge some of the footnotes of the original (caused by a foot fetish) as parentheticals in here.
