A small orange filly with a purple mane, struggled to fly not yet used to her wings. Watching her were the leaders of the Wonderbolts, Spitfire and Soarin, her parents.
“She’ll never amount to anything, she’s a horrible flyer.” Spitfire, complained.
“Spitfire, she’s your daughter! You should try to help her! It’s not her fault her own mother won’t help her! As her father I try to help but it’s not enough” Soarin yelled at her, his voice slowly rising.
Spitfire and Soarin watch their daughter struggle to fly around a cloud. Spitfire sighed and walked off.
“Scootalo, come here please!” he shouted.
Scootalo slowly glided down, tripping on the cloud as she landed, falling on her face. She laughed nervously and quickly got up, standing at attention and saluted him.
Soarin laughed saying, “How many time do I gotta tell you? You don’t have to do that.”
Scootalo put her hoof down and smiled, “So what do you need me for Soarin?”
“I was wondering if you could do me a favor.”
“Sure, what is it?”
“I need you to watch a certain Pegasus pony, and then report to me whatever you see. You’ll like this pony, she’s how you say…awesome and she’s easy to spot, light blue coat and rainbow mane. Her name is Rainbow Dash.”
“Okay…Rainbow Dash, rainbow mane and light blue coat…got it”
“Oh, and remember, don’t make it obvious you’re watching her. Make some friends and act like a normal pony. Maybe you’ll even get your cutie mark.” Soarin winked, pointing a hoof at her flank.
Scootalo nodded, blushing and using her tail to cover up her blank flank.
“Where’s Spitfire?” Scootalo asked, looking hopeful.
“Uh…She um…She had to go do um… paperwork, yeah paperwork.” Soarin stumbled on his words.
“She left again, didn’t she…”Scootalo looked down at her hooves, kicking up a little tuft of cloud.
“I’m sorry…” Soarin pulled her closer, wrapping a hoof around her.
Tears swelled up in her eyes. Wiping them away with her hoof she said, “I won’t disappoint you, I’ll find out all about Rainbow Dash for you.”
“Thank you, Scootalo, it means a lot to me, I’m so proud of you.” Soarin hugged her, tighter.
“Thank you, Soarin, I need to go pack now though.”
“Already have that covered.” Soarin said looking down at her, and then he pulled out a walkie talkie and said, “Lightning Streak, get her stuff, it’s time for her to go.”
Scootalo looked down, wondering, With all these questions flying through her head she didn’t notice Soarin had left. She sat down with a loud thump and hung her head, tears forming again, “I’ll probably mess up, Soarin will be mad at me and he probably won’t let me do another mission for him ever again.” She wiped the tears from her eyes and stood up, puffing out her chest, “No I can’t think about that, I will do this the right way and he will be proud of me!” She looked around quickly, “I should probably go find Lightning Streak.”
Scootaloo was running all over the Academy, looking for Lightning Streak. She went to her room first, nothing. Everything was like how she left it, nothing out of place. “I thought he was supposed to get my stuff…” She thought, taking one last look then running back down the hallway. The building was strangely empty, no noise came from any of the rooms. Scootaloo ran past Fleetfoot’s room when she thought she heard somepony whispering. She paused at the door, putting her ear against it.
“Are you sure she’s ready? She can barely fly.” A muffled female voice moaned.
“She’ll do her best, I’m sure she can do this fine.” A voice sounding like Soarin replied, sounding pissed.
Scootaloo lifted her hoof about to knock on the door when she heard Spitfire’s voice, muffled but still very clear, “She’s going anyway, I want her out of here, she’s doing nothing but taking up space…”
Scootaloo’s first reaction was to cry but then all of her fury burned up, she got so mad. She turned and kicked in the door and yelled, “I’m sorry I’m not good enough for you Spitfire! I’m sorry that I’m such a big problem for you! I’m sorry I can’t fly because I never had anyone help me get better! The only pony that’s ever helped me was Soarin! And you know what I’m glad I’m leaving because I won’t have to deal with your crap!”
Scootaloo stood there, breathing hard out of anger, and then she realized all eyes were on her. Soarin, Fleetfoot, Lightning Streak, Rapid Fire, Blaze, and some other ponies she didn’t know the names of stared at her in shock, all but Spitfire who just walked out of the room. Scootaloo looked down quickly as tears formed in her eyes. She threw herself on the ground and didn’t hold back them back.
“I need to go. Now.” She mumbled between sniffs.
Soarin nodded to Lightning Streak, who walked up to Scootaloo and slightly tapped her, noting her to follow. Scootaloo stood up miserably and slowly followed Lightning Streak out of the room, hanging her head. Pausing she took one last look at the ponies in the room. She looked Soarin straight in the eyes and could she a hint of disappointment behind them. Scootaloo made a small squeak and continued to follow Lightning Streak back to her bedroom.
“What do you need?” Lightning Streak asked.
“Nothing, I have no use for any of it after I leave.”
“Okay, let’s go then…”
“Okay, I’m rea-wait.”
Scootaloo went into her room and walked over to her cloud dresser, grabbing a photo off it. She looked at it and sighed, then walked back to Lightning Streak.
“Okay, now let’s go.”
Scootaloo and Lightning Streak walked down the hall and out the doors.
“Scootaloo, be careful down there, nopony is going to be there to watch you.” Lightning Streak said, looking back at her.
“Okay…”
“Hey, don’t feel bad, it’s not your fault.”
“Yes it is.”
“No, no it’s not.”
“If I was a better flyer I wouldn’t be leaving…”
“You leave has nothing to do with you not being able to fly well.”
“Yeah, I know, I gotta look for Rainbow Dash…”
“You should be glad, you’ll have a chance to prove yourself and I heard Rainbow Dash is one awesome flyer, might even be able to give you some tips.” Lightning Streak winked at her.
“Thanks, Lightning, you always find a way to make me feel better.” Scootaloo smiled at him.
“Anytime.”
They walked in silence for a while until Lightning Streak came to a stop. Scootaloo looked up at him, quizically.
"This is where I have to leave you, Soarin's orders..."
"Oh, Okay...," Scootaloo sat down with a thump, "Bye' Lightning Streak."
"Bye' Squirt," He replied and flew off.
Scootaloo watched him until he was out of sight then looked down at her picture. It was of her, Soarin, and Spitfire. She sighed, pushing it away and layed down putting her hooves over her head. A shadow buzzed over her and she looked up to see a blue-ish gray colt looking down at her. Aerial Assault.
"What do you want?" Scootaloo grumbled, annoyed that he was here.
Hinting that Scootaloo didn't want him there he said sarcasticly, "Just felt like saying goodbye to the best flyer in all of Equstria."
"Oh, whatever, Aerial Assault, why don't you leave and go see your girlfriend..."
Scootaloo pressed her ears flat against her head and tightly closed her eyes. Aerial Assault landed in front of her.
"Fine, whatever...it's not my fault your getting sent away."
Scootaloo stood up, getting in his face, anger boiling up inside her, she yelled, "I'm not getting sent away, I'm on a mission!"
"Whatever you say, loserloo."
Scootaloo snorted and turned her back on him.
"You know, Spitfire's the one who planned this thing, only to get you outta her mane..." He yelled at her, then realizing what he just said, stared at her, ashamed.
"Go figure she planned this..."
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to-"
Scootaloo cut him off, "It wouldn't matter if you didn't mean too say that, I should have already guessed that."
Aerial Assault pressed his ears against his head and looked down, "I'm sorry..."
Scootaloo turned to him, "It's fine, once I'm gone she won't have to deal with me ever again."
Aerial Assault looked at Soarin who had appeared behind Scootaloo and flew off.
Scootaloo turned to Soarin, "I'm ready."
Author's Note
Kinda cheesy really. I think Spitfire would be Scootalo's mom because of her coat color, so i just went with that. And Soarin as her father with the whole SpitfirexSoarin thing so...yeah. This is my first fan-fic so I hope you guys like this. And yes i do realize I spelt Scootaloo wrong...heh sorry about that... This also has some oc's in it like mine and some friends so if you would like your oc in it, I'll gladly put in it. Just give a description of it.
