Streak Blade: The Life of a Hybrid "Freak"by Streak_BladeChaptersChapter 1Chapter 2Chapter 3Chapter 1One early morning in a maternity center in a hospital around Manehatten, a young mare is heard screaming and cursing like nopony’s listening. “Aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh!!!!! Get this damned thing out of me!” The mare screams. The doctor helps the mare by allowing her lover to come in, and try to soothe the savage mare. “Calm yourself dear.” The stallion holds her hoof. “It’s almost over.” The mare automatically squeezes his hoof, almost crushing it. “Burn in hell you bastard! You’re the one who did this to me!” The doctor announces the crowning of the foal, and the mare continues to scream, and push with all her might. A few short minutes the doctor pulls out a small crimson foal. "It's a colt." The doctor said while cutting the umbilical cord. The doc then hooves the foal to a nurse so he can be cleaned off and bundled up in a blanket. The foal is a pegasus, with a black mane, and rose red eyes. The nurse gives the foal to the mare and gives the birth certificate to the father of the foal. "What should we name him darling?" The stallion asked the mare. "I don't know." The mare said while panting. "I'm to exhausted to think." The mare says. "Okay." The stallion thinks for a name. "How about... Streak?" The stallion suggests to his lover, who is somewhat busy cradling the colt. "That sound like a great name, Steel." Steel smiles and writes the colt's new name onto the certificate. "How does it feel to be a mommy Ebony?" Steel asks. "It feels amazing! Just look at him. So adorable." Ebony kisses Streak's forehead. A nurse comes in too put Streak where all the foals go to rest, so their parents can see them till they're ready to go. A doctor comes in. "Um. Mr. and Mrs. Blade?" The doctor says. "Yes? What is it doctor?" Steel asked. "I-It's about your colt." The doc says in a calm matter. "Why? Whats wrong with him?" Ebony asked in a panicked voice. "His eyes are somewhat under-developing. We don't know how, but as an estimate he'll be blind at 5 months old." The doctor explains, as Ebony holds onto Steel crying into his neck. "Is there anything we can do doc?" Steel asks. "Yes. We could inject him with the DNA of another animal, but he'll grow up with some traits of the animal." The doc explains. "We'll do it! I don't care what animal. Just do it!" Ebony yells. "Okay. Bring Streak in when he shows the signs of blindness." The doc says. "Okay." Steel says as he comforts Ebony. At 2-3 months later Streak is already walking (mostly fumbling), but during a chilly September evening Streak started to bump into things as if they're not there. "Steel!" Ebony called out. "What is it love?" Steel asked as he rushed into the room. "I-It's starting." Ebony said in tears. Steel sighed. "Okay. Let's get to the hospital." He said. Ebony nods and picks up Streak, puts him into a carrier and heads to the hospital. As soon as they get to the hospital Streak is already halfway blind, and can only see blurs. "Doctor! It's starting!" Steel exclaimed as Ebony and him show Streak to the Doc. "Okay. Calm down now. I'll get the DNA." The doctor said calmly as he gets the syringe, and retrieves some dragon DNA from a nurse. "Okay. Now, hold him still, Mrs. Blade." Ebony holds the little colt, as the doctor fills the syringe, but firsts numbs the area of injection with rubbing alcohol, and finally injects Streak with the dragon DNA. The little foal cries a little, his mother soothing him and the doc puts a band-aid with a cute kitten on it, on the site of injection. "It'll be okay, my little Streaky." Ebony says in a soothing voice. "Thank you doctor." Steel said. The doctor nods, and smiles at Streak. Within 1-2 months Streak gets his sight back but his left eye is now snake-like due to the DNA. Within the following months Streak starts teething, but something seems odd. “Steel.” Ebony called out. “Could you come here please?” Steel enters the room. “What is it, darling?” He asked Ebony fearing that he’d done something wrong (even though he didn't know what he had done). Ebony picks up a teething toy that is surprisingly full of holes. “I-Isn't that Streak’s teething toy?” Steel asked in surprise. “Yes it is. When I saw this I was confused, so I opened his mouth and I saw, a fang. So, not only is our son’s left eye snake-like, but he’ll also have a fang.” Ebony said while holding the sleeping colt. “Okay. We’ll have to reinforce things so the gnawing doesn't destroy our furniture. Ebony nods, and her and Steel softly pet Streak’s mane. In what seemed like a short time Streak has become three year old colt and is now in pre-school, and is doing extremely well in his class. But, one day while playing tag with another student Streak tripped and busted his head open and began bleeding profusely onto the concrete. A teacher rushed to the foal and called Ebony while she was at work as a home health nurse. Ebony feels her phone vibrate and she answers it. “Hello? Mrs. Blade speaking.” She said in a cheerful voice. “Mrs. Blade. This is Ms. Hoofstone at the preschool. Your son has taken a nasty spill and has to be taken to the hospital. We’ve already notifi…” The teacher said before being cut off by Ebony. “I’ll be right there to get my boy! Please tell me what happened!” Ebony said in a panicked voice. “He was playing tag with another student and tripped onto some concrete. We’ve been able to stop the bleeding and he’s ok. Just pick him up, and take him to the hospital to get patched up.” The teacher said. “Okay.” Ebony said while rushing to the school building. By the time Ebony reaches the building Streak is putting pressure onto his wound to keep the blood in. “My poor Streak.” She picks the colt up and holds him. “It’s ok. Mommy’s here, sweetheart.” Streak hugs his mother tightly with tears in his eyes. “Let’s get you to the hospital.” Ebony said as she rushes the foal to the hospital. When they arrive she signs Streak in, and the doctor sets Streak down and numbs the area before stitching the wound closed. “There we go. He’ll be ok. In about 3-5 weeks, bring him back so I can determine to whether or not to remove the stitches.” The doctor said. “Ok.” Ebony said while paying the hospital bill, and takes her little Streak home after paying. “Such a brave little colt you are… my Streaky.” The mare whispered as Streak falls asleep on her back. Chapter 2The following day at school Streak doesn’t play as much as he used to, due to the accident has scared him profusely. Streak decides to lie on a bench while the other children play, and as Streak waited and watched the others a little grey filly with a rose and black mane trots to the bench and playfully taps his left fore-leg. Streak looked at the area where he was tapped, and then notices the filly. “Hm?” Streak asked. “Tag! You’re it!” The filly exclaimed as she rushed away from him. Streak stayed there a little frightened, and then the filly came back to him confused. “What’s wrong? Don’t know the rules?” The filly asked. “I know the rules.” Streak said. “I just don’t want to play right now.” The colt said. “Why?” The filly asked Streak while getting up to join him. “I just don’t want to.” Streak said trying to cover his stiches. “What happened to you?” The filly asked moving Streak’s hoof away from the stiches. “I fell.” Streak said quickly. “Awww. Here.” The filly quickly gets a tissue and wets it at a water fountain, to wipe off dry blood around the stiches. “That’s better!” The filly says with a smile. Streak blushes and smiles slightly. “T-thanks. My name is Streak Blade.” Streak said. “What’s yours?” He asked. “My name is Scarlet Rose, and it’s nice to meet you Streak.” The filly said. “You too, Scarlet.” Streak said with a now bigger smile on his face. As the school year goes on Streak and Scarlet grow older but their bond grows stronger, even though at recess all they do is talk and laying on the bench. On the final day of pre-school Streak is laying on the bench as usual and Scarlet sits in front of the bench. “Streak?” She asked. “Yeah, Scarlet?” Streak said. “Can we play tag today?” Scarlet asked with a smile. Streak started to sweat with fear, remembering the accident as if it was yesterday. “Uh. I-I…” Streak began to stutter. “Pretty please?” Scarlet asked with an adorable pout. Streak sighed and took a deep breath and exhaled. “Okay, Scarlet. I’ll play.” Streak said with a warm smile. “Yay! Thank you, Streaky” Scarlet said, hugging the colt around the neck, and then boops him on the nose. “You’re it!” She said as she rushed off. Streak smiled, and hopped off the bench to chase the filly. As the two played, Scarlet trips and gets a scraped knee and begins to cry. “Hold on Scarlet. I’ll get you some help.” Streak rushes to his bag and gets some napkins and wets them to wipe away any dirt, and blood. “Hold still.” Streak said as he applies anti-bacterial cream and bandages onto the scrape. Scarlet winces a little. “Better?” Streak asked. “Yeah. Thanks, Streak.” Scarlet answers with a smile, and a kiss on the cheek. “Hehe. You’re welcome, Scarlet.” Streak said with a smile and hugs her, blushing. That evening when Streak gets home from school, he trots up to Ebony while she is cooking dinner. “Mommy?” Streak asked. “Yes?” Ebony respond. “What happens when you like a pony?” The little foal asked. “Does my little Streak like a pony?” Ebony said. Streak blushes furiously. “N-no! I’m just wondering.” Streak said. “Ok,” Ebony said knowing full well the colt is fibbing. “The first thing I would do sweetie is to tell that somepony, no matter what anypony else has to say. Okay,” she told the little colt. “Yeah. I think so; thanks mommy,” the little colt said before he hugged his mother and headed into the living room to wait for dinner to finish cooking. By the time the foal got comfortable on the couch, Steel has gotten home from work. “Hi daddy,” Streak said in a cheerful manner. “Hey Streak. How’s my big guy,” he asked the little colt. “Good. How’re you,” Streak asked. “Better now that I get to hang around my family,” the stallion said as he hugs his son. Ebony trots into the room smiling “Hey there handsome,” the mare said to Steel as she petted his mane softly. “Hey beautiful,” Steel said as he smiles from the petting. “How’re you Ebony,” He asked. “Just fine; now that I have my big, strong stallion,” she said in a calm, and loving manner. “When’s dinner? I’m starving,” the stallion said. “In about 5 minutes, Steel,” Ebony said to her husband. “Okay. Me and Streak will go get washed up,” Steel said while picking up the colt. “Alrighty then,” the mare said kissing the forehead of both her son and husband as they trot up the stairs and into the bathroom to wash up. Four minutes later Ebony calls out that dinner is ready, and the stallion comes down with the colt smiling as they sit down at the table with bowl of spaghetti in front of them. “Mmmmm,” Steel said after inhaling the aroma of the dinner. “Smells good hun,” he said. “Thank you. Dig in everyone,” the family begins to eat their dinner happily. The following day Streak is waiting for Scarlet who runs up to him in tears; she then jumps up and hugs him tightly. “Scarlet. What’s wrong,” Streak asked the crying filly. “I-I’m moving away,” the filly said as she cried into the colt’s neck. “What,” Streak said in a state of shock. “W-why,” he asked. “My parents said they wanted me to go to a better school; but I don’t wanna go! All I know is that, out of all the ponies I’m gonna miss, I’m going to miss you the most, Streak,” the filly nuzzles him and kisses the little colt’s cheek. The rest of the day mostly becomes Streak calming Scarlet and tries hard, not to cry; but eventually breaks down at the end of the day. When the little colt gets home he slowly crawls onto the couch and sniffles a little due to him crying all the way home. Ebony hears the sniffling in a heartbeat and trots to the little colt. “Streak. What’s wrong sweetheart,” she asked the little colt who fills Ebony in on his situation. “Oh, Streaky. I’m sorry. Maybe you’ll see her again someday,” the mare said as she tries to comfort the colt, whose eyes were red from the crying he had done. Chapter 3It takes Streak a total of 5 weeks to get over Scarlet’s leaving. Streak gets through three years of schooling but is constantly bullied about his “blank flank”. One day after school it began raining profusely and he is spotted by some bullies and chased through the streets and alleyways of the city. He runs into a random building hoping for some help. An elderly stallion that was white with little to no mane left trotted up to the colt and stroked his long white and black beard. “What is the matter little one,” he asked is a shaky voice. “M-my name is Streak,” the colt said while standing there dripping wet. The stallion gives the colt a towel. “What bring you to my dojo,” he asked again. “J-just trying to escape the rain,” Streak fibbed. The old stallion raised an eyebrow and stood there, “Alright if you say so,” the old-timer said. Suddenly the door flew open as the bullies trot in. “Well. Well. Well. Look who we found, boys. It’s the little baby freak,” the leader said to Streak. “I’m not a baby,” Streak yelled out as he kicks the leader right in the shin. “Oh, that’s it you little punk you’re so dead,” the leader said as he was about to punch the little colt, but the punch is caught by the old stallion. “Tell me,” the stallion said. “Why would a heard of oxen want to hurt a defenseless bird,” The elder asked. “The “bird” is different old man. It doesn't deserve what actual ponies have,” the leader said pulling his fore hoof from the elder’s grasp. “Come on guys,” the bully said. “Let’s get out of here,” he said as they began to leave. “Thanks a lot,” the little colt said smiling. “You’re very welcome little one,” the older stallion said as he looked out the window. “It has stopped raining. You should get going,” he said. “Ok,” the colt said as he leaves for home. As he arrives home Ebony gets mad at him for being late and making her worry. Streak tells her, his story and she sighs and smiles at the colt. “Ok honey,” Ebony said. “Tell you what. Tomorrow, I’ll pick you up from school and you can take me to this dojo, so I can personally tell this stallion thank you,” She said as she scoots the colt upstairs. “Now go wash up. Before dad gets home,” Ebony said in a calm motherly voice. “Okay mom,” he quickly rushes up and washes his face and hooves. The following day after school Ebony picks up Streak and follows him to the dojo where they meet the old stallion. “Ah, hello again little one,” the old stallion said. “Hi,” Streak said smiling. “Hello sir, I’m Streak’s mother Ebony. I just want to say thank you for helping my son yesterday. I owe you a debt of gratitude,” she said smiling. “No debt needed, miss. But maybe if it’s possible, I could teach your son self-defense tactics. That is, if both you and your husband don’t mind,” the elder proposed. “I don’t mind one bit. I’ll come by tomorrow with Streak and my husband’s answer, okay,” Ebony asked. “Sounds good,” the stallion said. That evening Steel gets home and greets his family. After a long day at school Streak heads to the dojo and puts on his uniform. The old stallion teaches the colt some basic blocks and tosses to subdue an attacker, which Streak picks up quite fast and perfects the moves quite easily. “Very good Streak,” the stallion says. “Thank you sensai,” Streak says as he bows. The session ends with the old pony sitting on a stool looking down at Streak. “Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. But today is a gift. That is why it is called the present,” he said to the little colt with a smile. “Now young one, tomorrow you will learn pressure points and how to use those in your defense,” he said with a calm voice. “Ok,” Streak said with a smile. “Um, Sensai do you have a name,” the little foal asked. “Of course I do,” the old timer said with a smile. “My name is Bruce Norris. But call me Master Norris,” he said. “Ok, Master Norris,” the little colt said standing up. “I’d best go home now,” “Yes. Be safe,” Bruce said, as the colt left the dojo to head home. As the colt heads home he looks across the street for a second and sees a glimpse of Scarlet. He immediately does a double take of his vision but is was only seeing a grey dress mannequin wearing a rose on a black dress, after this he sighs and heads the rest of the way home and slumps onto the couch. “How was class today streak,” Ebony asked from the kitchen. “Fine,” Streak said as he quietly sighs. “What’s wrong sweetie,” Ebony asked to the colt that sits up and sighs. “I-I thought I saw Scarlet,” he admitted. “Was it her,” she asked. “No. Just a mannequin,” the colt said sadly and wipes away his tears. The rest of Streak’s summer goes by with him practicing martial arts and flying. Though one day near the end of the summer, while Streak was meditating after a class, Master Norris trots to him. “Streak. Come here young one,” he said waving his hoof. “Yes, Master Norris,” Streak said as he stands up and heads to the stallion and bows respectively, then gets into position to begin, as does the sensei. The match begins and it’s fairly down the middle, to only stop when Streak had made his own sensai submit with a kumara lock. “Very good young one,” the sensai said as he broke free of the lock, and a small flash appears. “Also you seemed to have gotten your cutie mark,” he said. “Really? Awesome,” Streak said with absolute glee, and looks at the his flank to see the mark. It was a Yin and Yang symbol with a black dragon in the white section and a white dragon in the yang section. “It could represent your mastery of martial arts,” the old stallion said stroking his beard. “Well I did learn really quick,” Streak said admitingly. “That you did little one. Now go on home, consider this a graduation,” the old stallion said as Streak rushed back home happily.
