"How could you? How could you even understand an OUNCE of what I'm feeling?" Trixie interrogated violently, actively flailing her arms around as she vented. "Being constantly humiliated by ponies who make fun of my past actions. I'm fine with letting go, I've made amends with Twilight Sparkle, but even regardless of such, everypony has to make fun of me every day." Derpy backed up as Trixie continued on, staying as calm as she could and still actively listening.
"Oh! Here comes the great and powerful Trixie!" she spoke in a mockingly manner. "More like the great and powerful hoax. She can barely do basic magic, I'm glad Twilight Sparkle showed her up. Someone had to put her in her place!" Now completely enraged by it all, she looked at Derpy who was sitting ever so calmly. "So, how can you even comprehend what I'm feeling?" she challenged her.
Derpy looked down as she began, avoiding eye contact. "Well, have you even seen my eyes? Actually looked them?"
"Excuse me?" Trixie asked confused at the sudden subject change. After a moment of silence she realized that Derpy never really did fully face her whenever they spoke. She was always looking off to the side or completely faced away while doing something else. "Well, I mean, uh.... You never really look at me, so I guess not, other than they're yellow, I guess. What the hay does that have to do with anything?"
Trixie's frustrated huffs were immediately silenced as they turned into deep calming breaths as Derpy faced her, in full eye contact...or at least what would be full eye contact. At that moment, Trixie had a feeling she knew what she was going to bring up. Eyes askew, Derpy spoke as she looked away from her again.
"I mean, it might not be as bad as your problems. I'm not really sure, but I know what you're feeling like. Always being picked on about something. It's always happened me, even though I never did anything." Trixie sat down as she began to fell terrible. With each word spoken, a wave of angst washed over her. "Everyone always talks about my eyes, or how I sound stupid or dull. Everyone always thinks my job is a charity case and that I'm not really good at it, even though I always try my hardest and generally stay on schedule."
Trixie looked at her with regret, wishing she'd known and not ranted about her problems that now seemed miniscule to what Derpy has went through. "Always being called....ugly-" a tear streamed down her face as she twiddled her hooves, trying to hold back "-and how I'll never find someone who will love me and how no one could desire me with these eyes." As soon as the word "ugly" rang in her mind, Trixie immediately shot up.
Derpy quickly stared at her and started backing up, fear in her eyes as she offended Trixie. "I-I-I mean, it's not that big of a deal!" she stammered, as Trixie walked towards her, "I mean, its happened so much, it really doesn't affect me anymore. It might not be as bad as what you're dealing with, honestly! I just-" she stopped as Trixie interrupted her.
Hugging her tightly, Trixie pulled her close. Confused of what was happening, Derpy sat in silence as Trixie held her close, unsure of what to feel. "You're not ugly," Trixie told her, giving her a squeeze. Hearing this, Derpy then swallowed the knot in her throat and rested her head on Trixie's shoulder as she hugged her back.
"I'm sorry," Trixie started, "I honestly did not know. I mean, you've never really made eye contact with me, you've always seemed like a normal pony. You're beautiful."
"But..." Derpy tried, stopped by the word "beautiful" running through her mind. "My eyes..."
Before she could even continue, Trixie stopped her as she pushed her back. Derpy tried to look away but to no avail, Trixie pulled her face gently towards her as they made eye contact. The fires of embarrassment burned within her as her face grew hot. For the first time in her life someone was trying to look directly in her eyes, a new experience that completely shut down her mind. She did not know how to express what she was feeling or even what she was supposed to do.
"Your eyes have the most beautiful shade of gold I have ever seen," Trixie said, breaking the silence with sincerity. The fires within Derpy raged even higher as she was flustered beyond belief. Never had she dreamed that someone, let alone anyone, would ever say such things about her. Seeing her at a loss for words, Trixie stopped the embarrassment by pulling her close. Derpy hugged her back, wishing this moment could last forever. Never had she thought of what love could feel like until now.
