//-------------------------------------------------------// Races of Equestria: A Guide for Unicorns -by Epic Quest- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// First Look //-------------------------------------------------------// First Look Earth Pony: The most generic and basic form of pony in Equestria. Earth Ponies can neither fly, nor use magic, but as a trade off for this, they appear to have the strongest bodies among the Equestrian races because they are accustomed to doing manual labor through hard work and dedication. Not only can they perform hard work, they can do so in the extreme, with Applejack once harvesting nearly half an orchard of apples by herself with little time to rest and energize herself. Clearly, they are deserving of the role as the slaves of the superior Unicorns race. Their incredible stamina will be useful when constructing the Unicorn Temples and Monuments to our glory. Not to mention, they could serve as some very resilient concubines to help relieve the stress from a hard day of ruling over your lessers. Pegasus: Easily recognizable, Pegasi are ponies who have a pair of wings that can support them in flight even at high altitudes and at great speeds. They have the ability to manipulate and walk upon clouds as though they were solid matter, where as Earth Ponies and Unicorns simply fall right through. Although they do not have the full magical potential of Unicorns, many Pegasi have demonstrated the ability to control the weather, such as moving clouds around by pushing them, kicking them to create lightning, and flying in circles to produce tornadoes. Pegasi have lighter bodies than Earth Ponies, so they can fly, but they have demonstrated remarkable physical endurance, such as Rainbow Dash being able to break the sound barrier and create Sonic Rainbooms. A herd of Pagasi were also seen being able to maintain flight control after producing a massive tornado strong enough to lift the town's water supply up to the clouds. An athletic Pegasi's wings are even strong enough to lift their entire body weight, as they have been shown doing push ups with such appendages. While many Earth Ponies might envy them for their gift of flight and weather control, Unicorns have gradually begun to learn spells that can enable flight, cloud walking, and weather manipulation. Their time of ruling the skies is quickly drawing to a close and their wings shall be clipped once the battle mages of the Unicorn Invasion march upon their floating cities. Unicorns: We ponies have a single horn on our forehead which allows us to harness the power of magic. For most Unicorns, their magic relates specifically to their cutie mark and what their special talent involves. However, those elite bloodlines of Unicorns who's talent actually is magic possess a much wider potential. Telekinesis is a nearly universal power for all Unicorns, and while Pegasi and Earth Ponies rely on using their hooves or mouths to hold things, we magically lift and operate instruments around us with the use of this spell. When a Unicorn is using their magical ability, the horn glows with a mystical aura, which is often a different color depending on the individual, turquoise being my particular aura. Because we rely heavily on our magic, Unicorns tend to have the physically weakest body types out of Earth, Pegasus, and Unicorn, but possess the broadest range of capabilities as a trade off. But of course, when you're the master race of Equestria, you don't need a physically stronger body, that's what the manual labor slaves are there for! Crystal Pony: A foreign off shoot of the standard Ponies. They earn their name because when they are in a cheerful mood, their bodies transform into living crystal, but when depressed, they turn into normal ponies, and their coats lose their shiny coloring. Crystal Ponies once had the glorious honor of being slaves to King Sombra, a unicorn of immense power. But like any lesser breed, they were too stupid to realize his version of utopia, and overthrew him, forcing Princess Cadence to assume his place as their benevolent overlord. Unicorn Alchemists are trying to discover a way to transmute the esteemed Unicorn families into Crystal Unicorns, so as to elevate themselves above the peasant classes of our society.  Slaves who prove especially desirable might earn such a transformation as well, so as to become trophies for their horned masters to display to their guests. Alicorn: The supposed gods of the Equestria world. Little is known about the Alicorn race other than the fact they are extremely powerful. Celestia was capable of controlling the rising and setting of the moon and sun for 1,000 years before her sister Luna returned and was once again given control of the night. At present, all the Alicorns appear to be female, or at least no male Alicorns have been witnessed or mentioned. Alicorns have the wings of a Pegasus, and the horn of a Unicorn, allowing them to fly and cast magic.  In general, Alicorns tend to have a taller and slimmer body structure than Ponies, with both Luna and Celestia being the size of full horses in comparison to Twilight and Cadence. They also seem to comprise the royal members of Equestria, as each Alicorn shown so far has held the title of Princess. Alicorns appear to be a form of transcended pony, and not an actual birth race, as was demonstrated when Twilight Sparkle was born as a Unicorn, but was later transformed into an Alicorn by Celestia as a reward for her studies and to prepare her for her true destiny. As with Crystal Ponies, Alicorn possess extremely long life spans being able to live for over 1,000 years old without showing signs of advanced age. The ascension to Alicorn is what every self respecting Unicorn should aspire to, as it is clearly evident they are the epitome of our racial pride. The Unicorn people do not consider Alicorns to be a truly separate race, but rather an evolved state of being for our kind, a way to immortalize the greatest members of all Unicorn ancestry. Cadence, Celestia, and Luna were undoubtedly well respected, loved, and powerful Unicorns in the past, and were granted divinity as a reward! Granting them wings was merely a way to prove that the day would come when all of Unicorn kind ascended to rule from the heavens, while all lesser breeds would serve us on the ground below. Changelings: A race of creatures that appear to be a hybrid of ponies and insects. Every member of the species has both wings and horns similar to Alicorns. Their wings are insect-like and often torn, or full of holes. They also tend to have holes in their legs, and their bodies have a solid black carapace with solid blue eyes, and a pair of vampiric fangs. Changelings feed upon the love of other ponies, and to accomplish this, they are naturally skilled shape shifters who take on the form of somepony you love and pretending to be them. Assimilating into their lives. The longer they feed, the stronger they become, as their queen Chrysalis was strong enough to overpower even Celestia herself after feeding on Shining Armor's love for an extended period of time. Changeling magic has a green, flaming aura when used. Heretics trying to mock the image of the mighty Alicorns, the day will come when Unicorn Pyromancers march upon their hive colonies and purge them from the utopia paradise we are planning. Dragon: A race of fire breathing reptiles who have the capacity for speech, and intelligence comparable to Ponies. Most Dragons are feared and mistrusted by Ponies, and with good reason, many of them happen to be prideful, cruel, and quick to anger. A pack of teenage Dragons actually tried to steal Phoenix eggs for now other reason than to smash them! Spike is an exception, but whether this is due to his own nature, or if it is because he was raised by ponies is unknown. Some Dragons possess a degree of magical ability, such as Spike who can magically send, or receive messages by incinerating (or conjuring) them with his flames. A Dragon's growth is directly related to the amount of treasure they have hoarded over their life spans. The more wealth they amass, the larger they grow and the faster they proceed to do so. Spike's growth rate was incredibly slow because every birth day he only got a single book as a present from Twilight. However, after moving to Ponyville and receiving quite a large number of gifts from all his friends located there, he grew into an adult dragon within a matter of hours and proceeded to ransack the town in his blind greed. Dragons have a body far more durable than mere ponies. Their scales are incredibly thick and tough, as even Spike (who is a baby dragon) was able to withstand having an assortment of needles puncturing his backside without feeling any pain. He was also capable of swimming in molten lava without any discomfort at all. Dragons feed upon gem stones and make excellent diggers, harvesting the rare jewels from the ground and feasting upon them. They appear to have immense life spans as those who have reached adulthood are known for taking naps which last for 100 years or more. A full grown Dragon can reach enormous size, often being several stories tall. Traditionally, they make their homes inside of vast caves which are carved into the sides of mountains. If you can successfully capture a Dragon Egg, the hatchling can be raised to be a submissive and loyal slave, as is the case with Spike who was subjugated by our beloved Princess Twilight Sparkle. However, one should be careful when raising them and never allow them to give into their greed. The elite assassin Rarity only just barely managed to subdue him in time to change him back into his immature form. Donkey: Another form of equine that resides around Equestria. Little is known about their culture seeing as how only a few of them have been witnessed so far. They are a hideous race who are regarded as being in even lower regard than the Earth Ponies. Princess Twilight Sparkle is already juggling with the idea of giving them as property to more loyal slaves who have prove themselves worthy to their Unicorn masters, or merely purifying their kind from the nation entirely. Griffon: A race that appears to be half bird and half cat. From the abdomen upwards, they have the body of a large eagle, but from the waist downward is the body of a lion. As with Pegasi, they too have the power to walk upon clouds, but if they have the power to manipulate the weather is still unrevealed. They have a pair of wings that can support them in flight and often tend to have a cocky attitude that makes them feel superior to Ponies. If they can be raised and manipulated in the same way as Dragons, their predatory features could make them into powerful tools for aerial warfare, especially against the coming Pegasi invasion. If this is not the case, however, they may need to be purged so they can not ally with the Pegasi.
