It was a regular day in Ponyville, Derpy was delivering the mail, Applejack was bucking apples, Pinkie was... oh... hiding under a cart because of her Pinkie sense. So all in all, a perfectly normal morning.
Recently Aliconified Twilight Sparkle woke up in her royal palace, the library.
“*Yawn* Good morning Spike!” She called out cheerfully, stretching her wings.Meeting with his usual friendly silence, she sighed “Spike?”
After levitating ad then dropping stack of books next to his bed and the baby dragon dutifully appeared.
“Good mornin’ your highness” he mumbled sleepily.
“Spike! I told you not to call me that!”
“Sorry Twi”
The princess of Ponyville trotted downstairs and prepared some coffee.
“Whats the date Spike?” Spike rubbed the sleep out his eyes,
“Its uhh... the 29th of Neigh.” Twilight nearly snapped the coffeecup she was levitating.
THE 29TH OF NEIGH??!!! THATS TODAY!?” Abandoning her coffee she proceeded to prance around the room happily and then took off due to her wings her legs continued to run in mid air as she crashed into a bookshelf.
“Thats fantastic Spike!" her head appearing "amid the sea of paper around her Today is the first time in a 1000 years that an eclipse is going to happen in Equestria! And you know what that means!”
Spike, for a second looked a lot like Owlowiscious “No, what does it mean?”
Twilight was so happy she didn't care he’d forgotten what it meant.
“It means that Princess Celestia and Princess Luna merge together for one day to become the fourth Princess! Princess Epsilon...theres so many things I want to ask her!”
"Fifth princess Twilight your a princess now, remember!"
"Oh, yeah..."
"I still dont see what the big deal is, I mean, cant we just watch it on TV?"
“The Princesses mentioned to me that I can bring along my friends and there will be a jewel banquet for the dragons there.”
“I say we go!” Spike seemed suddenly like he had downed an entire barrel of coffee.
“I thought you might say that” Twilight smiled, “gather the others at the train station, we leave in 4 hours!”
“Oooohhh! I wonder if Princess Epsilon likes to party!”
“I’m sure she does sugarcube’”
Pinkie Pie adopted a serious face, her eyes narrowed and a mustache appeared on her face “With a capital P?
“Sure, why in the hay not?"
“Ooh Goody!” they had been on the train for 3 hours and where just pulling into Canterlot station in Twilights new, personal carriage. Courtesy of the Princesses.
"Uh... Pinkie, where the buck did you get a moustache?" raising her stetson in confusion.
"Silly! I warped the fabric of space around my face to generate a moustache from the electrons floating around our faces!"
*Insert awkward silence here*
“Hey gals? did yall understand- woah!” whatever AJ had been about to say is forever lost to the endless fields of time that vanish over the horizon as they had just arrived in what was undoubtedly the biggest festival that any of any of them had ever seen, ever. Even Pinkie Pie was at a loss for words, her mouth like the train tunnel they had just exited, her mustache lopsided slipping off her nose.
There was every kind of creature available, dragons, griffons, changelings (restrained, though one was trying to escape their escort by turning into a handsome stallion and almost succeeding), draconequus like discord, and many more.
“Come on girls! We get a front row seat!” They galloped away with Spike hanging on for dear life to Rainbow’s tail.
They arrived just in time for Princess Celestia’s speech .
“Eh-hem” just those 2 syllables was enough to bring absolute silence to the enormous crowd gathered beneath her and Luna. “ We both feel honored for you to make such a fuss over us. And rest assured, this speech will be short as the Eclipse is almost here” It was true, the moon was slowly covering the sun, the silence shattered briefly by camera clicks and someone yelling ‘Fabulous!”
“ So I introduce to you to, our erm... sister, Princess Epsilon!” And at the exact moment the sun was cover covered by the sun, the two princesses touched horns and a bright light emanated from them. More cries of “Fabulous!”
Eventually the light dimmed and all the assembled beings gasped as one.
Before them stood a being of immense beauty, her fur was a bright white and her mane flowed around her head like a halo, it looked like Celestia’s rainbow mane but it was covered with thousands of purple stars, and her cutie mark was of a yin yang symbol.
“My dear subjects” Her voice sounded as silky as moonlight but with the warmth of the sun “I would just like to say-” and just like AJ, she was cut short. Her brow furrowed as if she had just developed a headache, she fell to her knees and cracks spread from the balcony she was seated on, grey dust swirling around her in a miniature sandstorm.
“Princess!” Twilight just had time to yell, before the floor gave way, and the thousands of creatures gathered there were plunged into the crystal caverns beneath Canterlot...
