In an age where the world is suffering from a neverending war, a group of scientists commence a project to replace both human and cyborg soldiers on the battlefield entirely with A.I. driven machines. Not just normal A.I.s, but ones programmed to act, think, learn, and feel just like a normal human, in order to make them able to make the necessary independent decisions in battle. Coupled with an intellect far beyond human reckoning, these "living weapons" could one day replace normal soldiers entirely, so that war would never need to claim lives ever again.

This project ended in failure. Because while its sole creation fulfilled the expectations of having an intellect beyond human reckoning, it lacked the expected humanity in its programming. And most discouraging of all, because of this, it also lacked the most important feature of any warrior: Brutality.

Years later, IF prototype LQ-84i, aka Blade Wolf, finds itself trapped in a virtual reality simulation of a children's cartoon show. A simulation it had chosen to enter in order to finally learn what it had always lacked. Humanity. Feelings. Emotions. Bonds… Friendship.

This "Virtual Equestria" can only hope that its influence won't help it discover the meaning of brutality as well…
