Ah, Ponyville. Your home. It feels like only yesterday you were greeted by a crazy pink pony and be thrown a party by her in celebration of your arrival the next moment. It feels like yesterday you met the other 5 ponies who saved Equestria from certain calamities, big or small, time and time again. That was all a year ago. Since then, you have found a nice home near Sugarcube Corner, you landed a job working as a farmhand at Sweet Apple Acres helping Big Macintosh with certain jobs that required strength, and you help around Ponyville, period.
Today was the day two of your stallion friends promised you that you would have your first drink at the bar. You never saw how people could be all gung-ho about drinking such bitter liquids. You would much rather your friends did not promise you this, but you saw how much it meant to them and you went anyway.
The drinks themselves weren't bad. It was the fact that apple cider could be turned into a hard beverage that you questioned. You guess you will never know. After the drinks, it was time for work at Sweet Apple Acres. You loved working there, it was a dream come true. You were in the company of a sweet, old pony, though you wouldn't dare say the word "old" in her face, a very pretty mare, and 2 dependable friends. Working with Big Macintosh and Applejack proved not to be sissy work. You had to have strong legs because those trees won't budge with just an ordinary buck. Applejack taught you to buck it in a certain way.
"Ya gotta put yer whole hips into it. Don't be afraid of that there tree, it won't bite ya." Easy for her to say. The first few times, you could swear your legs were going to break like twigs but eventually all that training with Applejack paid off. "See? There ya are. Weren't nothing too hard fer ya, now was it?"
"Nope. Wasn't hard. But damn, my legs hurt." You said.
"Ah, walk it off, sugarcube. Ah was like that mah first few times." She said tilting her hat back and walked it off you did.
You walked for a minute or two before getting back to work helping Big Mac wheel the west orchards fields apples back to the barn. You will admit, working with Big Mac is not really a party. He is a stallion of few words. Almost all the time he says "Eeyup", "Yup", or "Nope." You once heard him say more than 1 word to Apple Bloom and you could've sworen you were dreaming and Princess Luna was playing tricks on you.
After wheeling all the apples back to the barn, Big Mac told you he could do the rest on his own and to help Applejack with bucking the east orchard and even these words from his mouth baffled you, but you did as you what you were asked to do. Walking up to Applejack, you assisted her with bucking the east orchard apples and after what seemed like forever, work was done. Granny Smith was napping so Applejack took it upon herself to pay you herself.
"It's okay, AJ. No need to pay me." You said. Though you don't want to admit it, you love working at the Farm and would still work even if there was no pay. " Working here is pay enough." Well, there you admitted it. Idiot.
"Ya sure? Not even fer today? Ya sure did a whole bunch of work today." She said with a sort of anxious look.
"Yeah, I'm sure. No pay for today." You said resting a hoof on Applejacks shoulder.
"Well, alright, ah s'pose. Thanks fer today." She said with a wink. "See ya'll tomorrow, Anon."
"Yeah, will do." Waving at her as you left the premises.
The night was still young and you had some time to kill before you go to bed. The bar had those apple cider drinks that you tolerated. Might as well punish yourself, you must have done something wrong today. As you drank your apple cider, you couldn't help but see a familiar purple pony. You almost spit out your drink when you saw Twilight. What was she doing in a place like this? You've never seen her anywhere that didn't have books. "Twilight?" You couldn't help but ask if that was her.
"Oh. Anon... Nice to meet you here." There was something wrong, you could tell. She didn't seem upbeat like she usually was.
"Something wrong?" You looked at her as she hung her head down.
"Well, Spike is off in Canterlot on royal duties as always but he hasn't written to me to keep me up to date on what's happening for a while." She said, still hanging her head down.
"Uh-huh... I'm sure Spike is fine. He's probably too quote-unquote "grown-up" to write to you all the time. At least that's what I think. Have you tried writing to him?" You asked
Her eyes widened then she facehoofed herself. "How could I forget that?! That must be why he isn't writing back! I feel like such a mule. No offense." She said to a donkey sitting right next to her.
"None taken." He replied.
"It's alright. It happens to the best of us. We can't all remember everything." You can't help but chuckle at her forgetting.
"I must get to that right away! Thank you for reminding me to write him, Anon." Twilight waved as she exited the bar. You finished your apple cider shot and did the same.
As you returned home, you couldn't help but see something dark in the corner of your eye. Oh no. Not again. But it happened right before you had time to even react.
KACHOW!!!!!
"WOAH!" You exclaimed as a bolt of lightning struck the ground right next to you. "Rainbow Dash? Wha?"
" Oh man, you should'v-" She was cut off by a high pitched chuckle of hers. "You should've seen your face. Priceless!"
"Oh, haha. Very funny. You do realize this means war, right?" You said shaking a hoof playfully. "I'd watch myself if I were you, Dash." You went and turned your back on her.
"What's that supposed to mean?" She called out.
"It means what it means. Watch yourself" You couldn't help but grin at the though of how you were going to prank her back.
"Yeah, sure. All talk and no action." She said blowing a raspberry as she dashed off clutching the dark cloud.
"All talk, no action, huh..? Okay. We'll see." You said to yourself.
As you rested on your bed, you thought it was days like this that made life worth living. You have a lot of friends, good job, and everypony likes you. You didn't want to go back to Baltimare. Life in Ponyville was the best and there was nothing that could make this any different. Ever.
Author's Note
So, yeah... I'm gonna start off short and sweet and slow and work my way up. I got the storyline finished and... well, let's see how it pans out.
" The east orchards apples belong where?" You call out asking Applejack.
"Oh, just put 'em anywhere in the barn, it doesn't matter." She called back.
You push the 2 apple buckets with your head and you hold two buckets on your saddle. You set them right next to the barn door so anyone can see them and not forget them.
" That oughta do it." You say to yourself. This work proved to be harder without Big Mac. Why of all days does his body decide to call sick today of all days? Nevertheless, you are happy to help Applejack with the rest of the work. Twilight told you what happened last time she tried to do work by herself. You would rather not see Applejack like that.
As you trot back to where Applejack was, you see in the corner of your eyes the shadows of the fillies in Applejacks' old clubhouse. It reminded you of when you were a young colt. Back in Baltimare, you had a clubhouse and your friends always went there. Sometimes, they would poke fun at how poorly you constructed it. If construction was your special talent, you would have a cutie mark of it. The clubhouse was also the site of your first kiss. The first mare whom you called your special somepony kissed you 3 months after you first met her. It started in school because you two had the same interests and both of your friends introduced you two to eachother. It was love at first sight. It all ended when you had a job offering at Ponyville and had you had to move there, thus you wound up working in Sweet Apple Acres. Leaving her was the only thing you regretted. Seeing those three fillies in the clubhouse, you can't help but wonder how they'll witness the wonder and heartbreak of love.
" Hey, I'm back. Need help with anything? Anything I can do?" You ask.
" Ah think we're just about done. Good work today, sugarcube." Applejack said.
" Wow. That was pretty fast." You couldn't help but say. It feels like just 2 hours ago you started work but as you look at the sunset, you know you have been working for quite a while.
You walk inside the barn and Granny Smith preparing jars for the Zap Apple Harvest. You wave to her and she waves back and quickly gets back to giving them hell. The door to Big Macintosh's room is ajar and you knock before entering.
" Come in." He said, coughing right after.
" Hey Big Mac. How's it going?" You ask him. His fur looks redder than usual.
" I'm sure I'll get over this. I've had worse." He looks redder than a ripe cherry. You can't believe he's had worse than this.
" I'm sure you'll get over it. You seem stronger than the average pony. Listen, I just came to check up on you, see how you're doing. Need me to get anything for you?" You ask.
" Nope." You were sorta asking for that answer.
" Alright. I'll leave you alone for now. Feel better." You say, closing the door behind you.
You walk down the stairs and you see Applejack at the front door. " Oh, Anon. There you are. Ah got somethin' to show you." You go with her and a little after you leave the barn, you see Apple Bloom trot back home. " Apple Bloom, ya'll done for the night?" Applejack asks.
" Yup. The girls headed back home and Ah'm plumb tuckered out. Ah'm gonna head to bed." She says.
" Alright then, g'night. Ah'll see you in the mornin'." Applejack called out.
The sky turned dark fast since you went in the barn. " What is it you want to show me?" You ask.
" There's this meteor shower t'night and the girls all have their own thing goin' on. Ah thought you'd like to watch it with me." She said.
" I'd be happy to watch it with you." You say happily. You've never actually seen a meteor shower before. It would be a nice change from seeing birds with Fluttershy, not that you hate it but watching them for a full day is not your idea of a party.
You find a small clearing in the orchards and the sky is almost fully dark. The stars are gradually peeking out and the sun is barely visible. The scene was like something from a movie. The two of you sit down and look up to the sky. Applejack seemed a little worried about something, then she says:
" Anon... What Ah'm about to tell you, please don't tell anypony else. Please?" She nearly begs.
" Oh. Sure. I Pinkie promise." You say crossing your hoof across your chest twice before poking your right eye.
" Alright, well, Ah always see two meteors up in the sky and Ah think that those there meteors just don't show up fer nothin'. Ah believe those there meteor are my parents. I mean, they can't just show up all the time fer no reason." She says looking deep into your eyes.
" Oh, what happened to your parents?" You were curious to know.
" Ah really don't wanna talk about it. It's not you, Ah just-" She was tearing.
" Hey hey. It's okay. You don't have to talk about it. It's fine. I understand that you don't want to. I'm sorry, I didn't know." You say hugging her.
" Thanks. Ah just got a tad bit emotional. Ah'm alright now." She sniffled.
" Okay. Look, it's starting." You pointed up the air and you saw numerous meteors whizzing by. After a few, you see two much brighter than the others. It's the meteors she was talking about. You don't want her to be sad again and you hope she doesn't see it. Applejack was making a whimpering noise. She saw them. She started crying on your shoulder.
" Applejack, it's okay. Would your parents want you to cry for them?" You ask, hoping it wasn't too harsh a question.
It was no use, she was crying and there was nothing to stop her. You tried everything from more hugging to telling her it was alright but to no avail.
" My mom died." You said looking down at the ground. Applejack stopped crying as loud and looked at you.
" She did? What about yer dad?" She asked.
" He might as well have been dead. He was never there for me. He blamed her death on me." You feel like you're going to cry.
" Anon, that's just terrible. Ah'm sorry. Ah didn't know about that. Here Ah am crying about what Ah have going on wrong in my life, Ah never thought about your hardships." She said looking at you. You hoped she didn't see you tearing.
" It's alright. You had two parents that loved you. That's much worse than what I have. I had one and the other one still doesn't talk to me. At least he's alive. Someone like you shouldn't deserve something like that." You couldn't help but look deep into her eyes.
You and Applejack were both looking into each others eyes. You felt your heart race and you realized you were still holding her close. She was very close to you. She started to close her eyes slowly and bring her face close to yours. You did the same and right after you fully closed your eyes, both of your lips locked. Her warm lips moved slowly near yours. Her tongue tangoed with yours and she eventually circled her tongue against it. She brought your head closer as she wrapped her arms around your neck. Her tongued tasted exactly as you expected. Apples.
The pure joy of your tongue was overwhelming as you felt something in your pelvis tingling. You tried your best to hide it
You swore your tongue was going to fall off and her tongue was trying to murder yours, or so it felt. You gently touched Applejacks' face with your hoof and your heart was racing. Her skin was as soft as her tongue. She smelled exactly the way she tasted. Your tongue sprang back to life and started wrestling with hers. Your hand started going down and made its way to her flank where her cutie mark resided.
" Applejack." You quickly said before going back to kissing her. " I." You were panting while you were talking and talking right after ending then resuming kissing. "I. Love. You."
" Ah. Love. You. Too." She was gasping but she obviously didn't care.
Her tongue was determined to get deeper in your mouth but your tongue fought back. You weren't going to let her get the best of you. Her tongue was wrapped around yours and that moment of pure ecstasy was enough to send you to nirvana.
Your cheeks felt red hot and you were actually afraid your white fur would be forever red on your cheeks. Thus, her tongue proved to be stronger and it gained entrance to your whole mouth where she was free to explore wherever. Finally, the two of you broke the kiss and were panting like dogs in the summer.
" I love you. I should have said it sooner." You finally admit your feelings. The feeling you have felt since you first worked with her.
" Ah love you too. Ah have ever since we first met." It was the best thing to hear her say that. She was the mare. Your mare. Your special somepony. You wished the moment in the orchards would never end. You would always be there for Applejack.
" Don't leave me." She said.
"I wouldn't dream of it." You said before you kissed her for the last time for the night.
Author's Note
I didn't want to make my own story for Applejacks parents. It would mess up the mystery of what happened to her parents.
Anyway, clop alert soon. Prepare your pelvises.
