Prologue: The Beginning of The End

I am the Narrator. Or rather, that is the name given to me.
And I am here, that is, you are here, to hear a story.
I have many, though some are fiction, and others not.
It is up to those who hear the story to decide which is which.
Of course, this is a story about the worlds of Man and Pony, and exactly what happened after they met.
*aherm*
The world began, and will end, with Death. As the first of the Old Gods to form, he chose to create a world where he and his kind would be able to thrive and ply their respective crafts. This world later became the realms of Tartarus. The second of the Old Gods, Life, decided that her brother's world would not due for her creations, and created Elysium, better known to human and ponykind as the known universe. Life found her Elysium to be empty, and used her own ichorous blood to create the Worlds.
From this blood, too, came the New Gods, including Light and Darkness, Harmony and Discord, Fire and Ice, and so on. While many more Old Gods, such as Time, existed, their contributions merely added to Death and Life's works. Plus, they were rather snooty, and as such are undeserving of being given too much credit. I should also take this time to mention God, the truly nebulous being who created the Old Gods. Some say he is the only god in existence, but that seems rather silly, as God would have way too much busywork in the way of actually doing anything productive.
Anyway, back to the history lesson.
In the realms of Tartarus, Death cared for the souls of those creations Life cast aside, as well as Gods whose souls were rended from their "bodies," or rather, the physical construct within which the Gods stored their souls, though that only happened later.
I'll get to it, I promise.
Death took the souls of those cast aside, and crafted The Book. Guess what form it takes. I dare you. Anyway, within The Book, the story of all the journeys of all souls was stored, and kept within Death's Library. Personally, I find the place enchanting. In the meantime, magic spilled into Elysium and Tartarus. While no one truly knows the origins of magic, I can only assume that God felt like being a colossal dick, because the coming of magic marked the beginning of the downfall of most of the Gods. From this magic, Life crafted, er, life, and living creatures began to populate the worlds. The most notable worlds were those dubbed Equis and Earth.
On Earth, humans, with their natural creativity and curiosity, they crafted great spells to evolve themselves, and grew into a force to be reckoned with. A force to be feared. Had Harmony not sealed their magic, the humans most likely would have evolved into gods themselves. No capital "G," though. They just would have been really fucking powerful.
On Equis, Life crafted the first Alicorns with her new-found magic, creatures of flesh and blood who had the lifespans of Gods themselves. However, as is the norm in most creator-creation stories, the Alicorns grew jealous of the Gods apparent invulnerability, and began a great war against the Gods. Remember Death caring for Gods' souls? This is what I was talking about. The souls of Gods, Alicorns, and other living beings all fell to Death, who protected them and gave them a home in Tartarus.
It was around this time that ponies were created, the result of an Alicorn being magically rended apart. In this chaotic landscape, many horrible creatures were created, such as the first changelings, which were made when an Alicorn named Geranium had her love, a viable part of her soul, I kid you not, ripped from her, leaving her body horribly mutilated. She had the most beautiful violet eyes...
I'm getting off track.
It was also during this time that the Alicorns Celestia, Luna, Ferrum Latet, and Nocturne Mucrone were born. Celestia and Luna were born to Dusk and Aurora, the then Queen and King of Alicorns, respectively. Ferrum and Nocturne were born to Sun Shine and Night Fall, Generals in Their Majesties' Royal Army. These four colts and fillies would be the last surviving members of the Royal Family. This would be a good time to mention that Aurora and Shine were brothers, making Celestia and Luna cousins with Ferrum and Nocturne.
...I just realized, I haven't even gotten to the First Pony Age, the creation of the National Guild of Assassins and their rivals, the Order of Guardians, or even how Pinkie Pie got her powers! How silly of me, wasting time with exposition, when you obviously want to get to the real story! Or rather, the story you thought you were going to get.
Well, I guess this is as good a place as any to tell you about how the Equestria you knew ended...
