He had to admit, the royal library was beautiful. As a matter of fact, Christo had never seen anything quite like it. The gems that adorned the walls shimmered in the pale light of Luna's moon. He could have stood there and admired the scenery all night, but he had a job to do. And from the looks of it, it would take him all night. He started searching in the E section of the library but to no avail. He then looked over in the S section but with no luck. He was running out of time and had to find the book fast. he had no other choice than to consult the directory for the book he wanted. After a bit of searching and a few almost close calls with a desk lamp he found it, the directory.
"Hmmm, lets see here, Secret spells of Equestria, where are you. Ahh there you are, you are currently, hmm, no that can't be right." he mumbled to himself. he was slightly confused. He knew the book would be here, but it was checked out. And to none other than Twilight Sparkle. Oh how rich this was. He was going to have to visit his old lab partner. Thankfully he knew where she was currently and it wouldn't be hard to get there. He just had to get to the train by.. "oh my it leaves in 10 minutes." He quickly teleported out of the library and to the train station. When he got there he was sourounded by other ponies. a few of them were caught by surprise by his sudden appearance but most were to caught up in their own business to notice. As the doors opened and let the ponies on, he was stopped by the conductor.
"Ahem, ticket please." He said in a gruff voice holding out a hoof. the conductors eyes started to glow cobalt blue, the same color as Christo's horn.
"Oh no, I appear to have lost my ticket. I'm sure that wont be a problem, will it?" Christo said.
"Not at all." The conductor said with a blank expression on his face."
"As a matter of fact could you escort me to my seat. This crowd is making me feel, uncomfortable."Christo said in his most convincing voice. The conductor just grunted and started shoving through the crowd. Several ponies complained but most just kept shuffling their way towards the train. As Christo boarded the train, he considered what he should once he got to ponyville. He decided to cross that bridge when he came to it.When the conductor found him a seat and left him there to relax some other ponies came and boarded the car he was on. Christo pulled his hood further over his head and sat here quietly.
"It was so much fun being in canter lot," one of them said behind him.
"Ya, too bad Twilight couldn't come and had to go the Gryphon kingdom." Another said. Now this got his attention. He turned around and faced the ponies who were blabbing about some nonsense.
"You know Twilight?" Christo asked. They all turned their heads to face him. "Twilight, you know her." Christo asked again.
"Depends, What do you want with her." An orange mare with a brown stetson perched atop her head asked.
"I'm an old friend," he said dropping his hood and letting his gray mane fall down his shoulders. "Names Christo." He said holding out a hoof. I'm moving town and i was gonna drop into twilight when i got there.
"Oh a new pony!" a small, pink pony with a springy mane. "We should have a party!" She exclaimed pulling out a a big blue cannon and lighting the fuse. Christo ducked down and waited for an explosion, but none came. He peeked over the edge to see the orange pony scolding the pink one.
"Now pinkie, it's obvious he's shy. He just met yall." She scolded.
"Alright applejack." Pinkie said in a slightly deflated tone. The orange one must have noticed him.
"Names Applejack." She said offering her hoof. Christo reached out and shook it. "C'mon yall, introduce yourselves. She said. The whit pony in the back spoke up first.
"Pleasure to meet you darling, im Rarity." She said. Next spoke a cyan pegasus.
"I'm Rainbowdash." She said with an arrogant smile. "The crazy ones pinkie." And that left the pony right behind him. She looked to Christo shyly and met his eyes and then turned away. Christo tapped her on the shoulder and said.
"Oh come on now, what's your name. I don't bite." He said in a joking manner. She looked up at him and he gave her a warm smile.
"Fluttershy, my name is, Fluttershy." She said shyly.
"Oh my goodness, fluttershy, the fluttershy. The Fluttershy that convinced a dragon to stop attacking pony vile and take a nap instead. That fluttershy. Christo said in mock adulation.
"I-I guess so." She said blushing heavily.
"It, is an honor." Christo said kneeling down and bowing his head. All the ponies in the train car giggled. Christo had a feeling that ponyville wasn't going to be to bad. Sucks that he was only gonna be there for a few days.
"So, tell us Christo, how was twilight back when you guys knew each other." Rarity asked.
"Oh me and twilight were students together. We were actually roommates. He said. I studied under HalfBreed while twilight studied under celestia. I was usually ahead of her. Mainly because she wanted to do everything by the book. She wasn't willing to be original." Christo said.
"Tell us some stories! Oh please oh please oh please." Pinkie said pulling a chair out of no where.
"Alright alright. Hmm where to begin. Oh yes. There was this one time twilight had been trying to perfect an aging spell. She never did get it right. But one time in the court yard she was practicing and I snuck up behind her. I scared her and she accidentally miss fired the spell and it hit a pony named willow. While twilight was slugging me in the arm, willow came over and hit her upside the head with her cane." Every pony in the car busted out laughing. And Christo began to tell more stories about his past with twilight long into the evening.
"And when she was sleeping, I put the potion in her mane and when she woke up it was just like celestia's mane, except shorter." Every pony in the car started laughing again.
"Man Christo, I can't believe Twilight never told us about you before." Applejack said.
"She hasn't told you about me before. Figures, she must still be mad at me." Christo said
"About what?" Applejack asked.
"Oh some things happened, bad stuff went down." Christo said.
"Like what kind of bad stuff." She asked.
"Oh, I'll tell ya about it in the morning." Christo said with a yawn. He liked these ponies. He shouldn't but he did. But he knew not to get to attached. Bad things happened when he got attached.
Christo woke up to somepony poking his chest.
"Wake up sleepy head." Pinkie said in her cheery tone.
"Five more minutes" he grumbled, turning over. He then felt the train lurch to a stop. He sat bolt upright, surprising pinkie and making her squeal. He noticed that they had stopped and were in front of a train station. As the doors opened and the other ponies started to exit the train, Christo stayed behind. The ponies turned to him as he shouldered his saddlebag.
"Come on partner," applejack said turning to him. Christo felt uncomfortable but followed. He joins the group of mares as they walked out of the train. As they walked, the crowd parted for them. Christo felt like every pony in the crowd was looking at him. He just hid further in his hood. As he walked he heard pinkie scream out to the crowd.
"Hey every pony, meet Christo." She said yanking his hood down and letting his long gray mane fall down his shoulders. Christo, shy as he was around crowds, ran throughout the mob of ponies to get away from their eyes. As he ran through the crowd he heard the mares calling his name and following him. He thought he had gotten away from them when rainbow dash flew out of no where and tackled him.
"I got him guys!" He heard her yell with his face in the dirt. He heard the other ponies walk up to him. He felt Rainbowdash get up off of him. Christ pushed his face up off of the dust and sneezed. He then turned around to a few very concerned mares and a sad looking pinkie.
"Why did you run off there sugar cube?" Applejack asked with a concerned look on her face.
"I, I get shy around crowds. I have bad memories of them as a colt." Christ said sadly looking at the ground.
"It's okay," fluttershy said draping a wing over his shoulder. "We can get over our fears together." She said in a determined voice. Christo gave her a warm smile. Okay.
After that fiasco, the mares gave Christo a tour of the town.
"So this is twilights house. Doesn't surprise me she lives in a library. Do you think she would mind if I crashed for a little while while I wait for them to finish my house." Christo said.
"No I don't think she would mind." Rainbowdash said. Christo let a smile crease his face as a plan came to his mind.
"Pinkie, your the party pony in this town right." Christo said.
"Ya, why do you have a party idea." She said suddenly getting excited at the prospect of a party.
It had been a long week and twilight was glad to be home. She pulled her beys out and inserted them into the lock to find it was open. She found that odd but dismissed it quickly. She came in and set her saddle bags on the ground. She flipped on the lights and to her surprise her house was filled with ponies from all over town.
"SUPRISE!" They all yelled at once. Twilight noticed there was a banner hung up that said "welcome home."
"Hey twilight, someone came into town the other day and wants to meet you." Rarity said as she led her over to the rest of her friends. The mares parted to reveal a white stallion with a white and black horn and a long grey mane. Twilight recognized who it was immediately and walked up to him and slapped him right across his face.
"Twilight," the mares said in unison.
"I probably deserved that one," he said.
"You've got a lot of nerve Christo, looking for me after what you did to me and breezhopper." Twilight said.
"C'mon sunshine, you know it wasn't supposed to turn out like that." Christo said shrugging.
"What happened, who's breezhopper." Pinkie asked with her head tilted sideways.
"Oh twilight hasn't told you yet. Alright. Breezhopper was a stallion, a bit taller than myself. Anyway twilight got all lovey doves over him but didn't have the guts to tell him. So I did it for her." Christo said as innocently as he could.
"And you ruined my chances with him!" Twilight said slapping him again. Christo now had a steady stream of blood coming from his nose and was stumbling around on his hooves.
"Good to see you to sunshine." He said and hugged her. She slapped him again and Christo blacked out. That pony had a bit more force behind her blows he thought as he swam through the sea of blackness.
