As Rainbow Flash trots down the stairs he spots streaks of colour zipping around the room and knocking over various knickknacks. "Rainbow Dash," he says once more. The dashes of rainbow suddenly come to a stop when the filly responsible for them halts her flight through the living room. She brushes her multicoloured mane aside and frowns at the purple-blue stallion. "Just five more minutes, Dad, please?" she pleads. "I'm sorry, Rainbow Dash, but your indoor flying is getting to be a bit of a hassle," Flash says half-jokingly. She frowns. "Okay Dad." The young Rainbow Dash flaps her wings and slowly floats herself upstairs and into her bedroom. From behind her, the voice of her father calls out, "Rest well. Tomorrow is your first day of Junior Speedsters Flight Camp!" Instantly her ears perk up and her head raises. Quickly, she zips toward her father and wraps her arms around his neck in a tight loving embrace. "Thanks, Dad! You're so awesome!" "Maybe someday you'll be able to join the Wonderbolts." He smiles. "The... Who?" his daughter asks. Rainbow Flash chuckles and puts his daughter down. "Why don't you ready yourself for bed and I'll tell you all about them." Flash watches while her daughter speeds her way up the stairs and into the washroom where she brushes her teeth as properly and as fast as she can. She makes sure her entire mouth is clean before rinsing and zipping her way into her bedroom to tuck herself into bed. Rainbow Dash's bed sheets are a dark blue with a large wing in the centre. Flash looks down at her and smiles, thinking about how cute his daughter looks, all washed up and ready for bed. "My, you're excited," Flash said. He went over to one side of her room and pulled over a red beanbag chair, and sat on it. "Alright, Dash. But consider this your only bedtime story for the next few days. This one's gonna be a doozy. "The Wonderbolts are a team of Equestria's fastest pegasi. Their exploits range from flight performances, to races, to being the Equestrian airforce." Rainbow Dash squeals in delight. "That's so awesome! I wanna be a Wonderbolt when I grow up!" "Yeah, it is awesome. But did you know that when the Wonderbolts started, they weren't called the Wonderbolts. In fact, they weren't even pegasi at all." It all started with two best friends... "Bliiiiitz! We're gonna be late!" A blue earth pony, whose zig-zag tail and yellow mane resembled lightning, rapidly knocked on the green apartment door of his best friend and coworker. Soon enough, the pony he was calling slowly opened the door. He too was an ordinary earth pony who was white as snow with a mane that was countless shades of grey. "Ugh, finally," said the restless blue pony. "What took you so long? The race is at 5:30." He tapped his hoof on the floor. "Sorry, Thunderbolt, I guess I lost track of time," said Monochrome Blitz. He scratched the back of his head. Bolt shook his head and laughed. "You're such an egghead, Blitz. You read too much. Anyway, we should really get going. You got the tickets?" Blitz put his muzzle into his saddlebags and pulled out two rectangular tickets to the day's racing event. "Perfect! I'll race you there. Three-two-one-go!" The blue colt took off instantly, galloping off ahead and into the big city. Blitz shook his head, chuckling to himself. Bolt was always a fiery one. Blitz followed his path, dodging and weaving and zig-zagging between ponies that walked in the streets of Manehattan. In a bustling big city like Manehattan, galloping without managing to ram into anypony was truly a hard feat, though the two colts were able to just get by. On several occasions Monochrome Blitz was force to take an alternative route in order to keep up his speed. As he came close to ramming into a carrot dog vendor, his eye caught a pair of ponies clad in white carrying a couch out the door of an abandoned apartment. Putting all of his power into his hind legs, he leapt up onto the couch and over the top of the vendor's stand. Blitz looked back and grinned at the two angry ponies that were knocked down to to his endeavour, and gave a loud, "I'm sorry!" while still continuing his attempt at keeping up with his friend. After that, he had to jump over a bench, and duck under another. Finally, the stadium was in sight. The front door was just ahead and there was nopony to get in his way.
