Awaken: Nothing Lasts Forever
Chapter 1: What Lies Beneath
Previous ChapterNext ChapterThey fall,
Innocent victims of the cold.
Yet, even in the waning moments before their end
They retain their poise and self-respect.
As they smack against a surface,
Expiring with a slow, painful puff of air before our eyes,
We, the unknowing bystanders, are transfixed.
Death can sometimes be a beautiful act.
We see a morbid sense of attraction to their lonely,
piece-by-piece demise.
It's a hard-but-haunting realization we come to:
Nature is cruel, yet brilliant.
The crash of thunder that echoed after the impact of the meteor signaled Luna that something was in fact wrong. She had been watching from Canterlot Castle's balcony, only to suddenly see the sky ripple and follow a disturbing force caused by a meteor. Well, she was sure it was a meteor, what else could have fallen from space like that? She pulled open her drawer and pulled out a cloak, covering herself and tucking in her wings beneath the soft cloth. She slowly opened her dorm door. Hoping that there weren't a lot of Canterlot Guards on patrol on that night. Lucky for her, the hallway leading to the throne room was completely emty. She slowly opened the door, quickly and quietly trotting through and towards the throne room. When she entered, the self sense of silence befell her. Filling her mind with a state of absence. She slowly trotted towards the throne. Her sister's throne. Its design, flashing like a thousand crystal suns amidst the moonlight. The moonlight. She had barely noticed the moonlight. She looked up to see the former home that she had been inprisoned in for a thousand years. She closed her eyes and tried to remember her time there. Cold, lifeless, full of demise and despair. Yet still part of it was missing. She just couldn't remember.
