True Colors: Rainbows fade
I scream, nothing else I can do I just scream. A few weeks ago Twilight became a princess and an alicorn. We all got our cutie marks switched and that's what got me thinking. Rarity (who got my cutie mark) wasn't trying to fly but do the weather. That really got me thinking, why was she doing the weather? I can't decide what my cutie mark really is about. Now it's gone, that's why I'm screaming. It just disappeared.
"Um, Rainbow? Are you okay? The girls sent me up to see what was wrong." I hear Fluttershy say but her voice was muffled though. Oh no. Fluttershy will freak. She can't know I lost my cutie mark. I walk over lock the door and peak out he window at her.
"Yeah I'm fine. Please go away. It's none of your guys business." Well that sounded a lot meaner then I meant for it to.
"Yeah okay. Goodbye I'll see you later." Wait, I could ask Applejack something. Out of all our friends she the last I think will freak out. I mean Rarity will probably faint, Twi would want do some crazy test or something like that, Pinkie would want throw a party, AJ would just be well... Honest.
"Wait, Fluttershy! Could you send AJ up? Ask Twi to do that spell on her so she can walk on clouds."
"Um, sure. Is that all Rainbow."
"Yeah. I'm sorry, I really am but this is something I really only want to tell her." Please understand I don't want anypony freaking out. Please?
"Oh, okay. I understand." I sigh. After about 30 seconds there's a quiet sigh of a out of breath pony then a loud knock on the door. Please don't freak out. Please?
"Rainbow? Can ah come in?" I unlock the door and back away.
"Yeah come on in." The door opens slowly.
"What is it sugar cube? Why were ya screamin?" She looks so concerned. I know I can trust her, all I need to do is show her.
"I-I lost my c-cutie..." I can't say it. Just show her. I point at my flank. "L-look."
She walks over to where I'm standing and looks at my now blank flank. She touches it to make sure it isn't some kind of joke, then she gasps. "Did it fall off or somethin'? Where did it go?" Did she just ask if my cutie mark fell off? Ha, they can fall off?
"I woke up and it was gone. They can fall off?" She shrugs.
"Don't know. Lets say it can. Anyway why do ya think it would leave?" I gulp.
"I can't decide if this is my fault, Raritys, or Twi's."
"Why?" Now is time for a very long story.
"You remember how Twilight switched our cutie marks?"
"I remember trying to make dresses, you laughing at 'Rarity help Applejack's trying to make dresses!'" We both laugh and I continue.
"Yeah, but forget that just the thought of you and making dresses is a fail or a practical joke. Anyway do you remember what Rarity was doing when she had my cutie mark?"
"Yeah she was movin them clouds around." I node.
"That's my point."
"What are you talking about sugar cube?" She's a mix of curious and confused.
"Isn't my special talent flying not weather?" It looks like realization slapped her across the face.
"Oh." She then freezes up. "Do you think you had the wrong cutie mark?"
"NO! I think my talent changed over time but not my cutie mark." She nodes in understanding. Then she gets an idea.
"Well I have ta go tell Applebloom and her friends somethin. Bye Rainbow!"
"Wait tell them what?" She looks at me with a evil grin.
"That the cutie mark crusaders got themselves a new member." Freak. I spread my wings and pin her to the cloud. Or at least try to. I spread them but they don't do anything.
"NO NO NO NO NO NO NNNNNOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!"
True Colors: Rainbows fade
Magic. It's what allows a unicorn to do spells, a earth pony to connect to the earth and others, and a Pegasus to fly. You never really give it much thought. Unless your Twilight Sparkle, but she doesn't count. I never gave it much thought. Now it's the only thing I can think about.
"Scootaloo go away! She ain't ready for visitors yet. Please sugar cube?" She's crying. Why is she crying? I gulp in air, I really hadn't breathed in a while. AJ gasps.
"Rainbow? She's awake isn't she?"
"She's not ready yet go AWAY!" With one final shove she's out the door, the doors closed and locked, AJ slides down in tears.
"Why are you crying?" She looks up. Her eyes puffy and red, her mane is a mess, her hoofs slightly bruised. She's a mess. She smiles at me and walks over with a sigh. "Ah thought y'all would never wake up with that scare ya gave everyone."
"What are you... Oh." The memory's flood back. I'm about to tackle AJ to the ground, I spread my wings but what wings. They are almost transparent. No magic means no flying which means wings will fade. Not good. Also with no magic I can't walk on clouds. I spread my wings nothing happened, I scream for help. Then I'm falling, the cloud rushes past me then it's replaced swiftly with the ground. It's not a soft landing either, I hit hard, very hard.
I look to my wings and you can barely see the out line. I try to spread them but its like they're not there. I look at AJ with the top most horror filled look known to pony kind and cry. Cutie mark less, talentless, wingless, magic less. I'm now less. She hugs me tight while I soak her mane in tears. "App-applejack?" I stutter.
"Yeah sugar cube?"
"Thank you."
"I know."
"Can I ask you some questions?" She sits down next to me, our puffy tear filled eyes meeting.
"Yeah ya can." She smiles lightly.
"Do you think I'm still loyal or did I loose that too?" He looks at me with a moment of shock then giggles.
"Sugar cube if y'all lost your loyalty the only we'd call ya is well grey. Of course y'all are still loyal." I sigh in relief.
"Thanks, ok next question. What happened to me?" She looks a little sad at that one.
"Ah asked Twi 'bout it. We did a ton of research and stuff. We asked the princesses and everything till we found somethin!" I look at her completely surprised, curious, and like she's gone nuts.
"You did research and actually found something?" She looks at me completely deadpan.
"I'm not an idiot ya know." I laugh at her and tap her nose. We're really only cutesy with each other when we get emotional, so if you didn't get my point that's not very often.
"So what did you find?" She get even sadder. Time for absolute cutesy. I pull out puppy dog and push her down onto her bed and rest my head on her chest. I make circles on her belly with my hoof tickling her lightly. "Don't be sad, just tell me. The worse you'll feel if you don't." She sighs cause she knows I'm right.
"Do ya know how when ya earn yer cutie mark how important it is?" I node. "No pony ever looses them. Your stuck for life with 'em. The older ya get the more and more magic is inside 'em."
"So what's yer point?"
"The day they were switched should da killed ya." I sit straight up and glare daggers into her eyes.
"WHAT?"
"That day was yer peak day. When a magic serge is put through yer cutie mark. Ya should have died because the magic serge went through Rarity in stead of ya. Your magic was put inta her in stead of inta you. Y'all have no magic because ya didn't have the right cutie mark."
"So that's why my magic is gone but what about the cutie mark. I got it back then it left again a few days later?" She gets even sadder. Time for over the top mushy stuff. Got to keep her happy, I can't stand it when she cries. A tear falls down her face then more and more. I almost cry at the sight. I climb over her and put my front hooves on either sides of her head, my hind ones on either sides of her flank. She looks at me, crying her eyes out, for me, with the saddest eyes ever. I mean they could beat mine and Appleblooms puppy dogs combined. I lean down and kiss her.
We don't kiss, ever, but we hang out like earlier. We cuddle and mess with each other like I was doing, that's all. I mean I know like her and she enjoys our times together but never do we kiss. Especially not this deeply.
"Please just stop crying. Please?" She has a look of complete suprise and want.
"It left taking any chance of you gettin you wings or magic back. The only problem is you can re-earn your cutie mark, we know what it could possibly be. You need your wings ta earn it."
"Oh..." What the heck should I do? Um um... Before I could come up with anything she's back at our new addition to our cuddle. I can't help but kiss back and love it.
She pulls away licking her lips slightly. "Sorry." I look at her like she's crazy, again.
"For what?" Now she thinks I'm crazy, I'm sure of it. Then she smiles and does it again... And again and again. I really think she likes it. She is a great kisser I could get use to this!
"That."
"Why in Equestria are you sorry for 'that? I mean it like you can kiss with magic!" She laughs at me.
"Doubt it."
"I'm serious!"
"Seriously serious?" I do it again.
"Yep!" I say while nodding. She laughs at me, again.
"Well I doubt I'm as good as you."
"Doubt it."
"Yeah right."
"Best kisser," I start pointing repeatedly at her. "Ding ding ding."
"Sure. I think you lost your sense of direction too."
"Why do you say that?"
"Your pointin at tha wrong pony."
I jump on her. I mean full on pounce. I start kissing her everywhere, all over her neck and face. And lips. It's like magic. A sparkle. A spark creating a flame in the middle of a dead forest. It's going to spread. I could feel the magic of kissing her and being kissed by her all over my body. In my lips and face, going down my back, in my tail and mane, I could feel it in my heart and lungs, in my wings. I could feel it in my wings!
