DRAGON RISING

Chapter One

Twilight Sparkle listened to the ramblings of Jarl Balgruuf after she came back from the depths of Bleak Falls Barrow. He had interesting words to say with that unusual accent, mentioning things about Whiterun technically being with the Empire, but staying neutral in the war until that day comes when he will be forced to choose sides. The Stormcloaks seem to have a good reason I their opposition towards the empire, especially since they tried to execute Twilight without her consent. But she will remain neutral until further investigation on the Stormcloaks’ intention will be conducted.

Jark Balgruuf finished speaking to Twilight and he stood up from his chair. He tells her to follow him to meet with Farengar and discuss any more discovery about the Dragons. Twilight didn’t seem to mind the talk about dragons, but she somehow can’t speak in this strange world, despite her effort. She had vague memories that can’t explain how she got here, all she remember is the ride in the wagon to this little town called Helgen. That’s when she saw the ferocious Dragon that wasn’t like Spike.

She stood there beside the Jarl, not focusing too well on Farengar’s talking. That hooded woman was already gone, she looked very suspicious. Twilight finally heard what Farengar, but they were interrupted by the Jarl’s Housecarl, Irileth. Her eyes always caught Twilight’s interest since they met, and they looked as though they would burn her very soul. She told Balgruuf and Farengar that a dragon has been sighted near the Western Watchtower.

Jarl Balgruuf shuddered at the news, but he kept himself together. He told the Twilight, Farengar, and irileth to come with him. Irileth ordered the guard who saw the dragon to come along as well. They headed upstairs and Twilight saw a map of the land. She saw the name Skyrim, this must be where she is at. Another world, and she somehow ended up here. She wanted to see the map, but Jarl Balgruuf was asking questions to guard. He talked about the dragon attacking the Western Watchtower, and the Jarl told Irileth and Twilight to head there at once, he also told Twilight that she has more experience with dragons than anyone else here. She wasn’t sure if that was good or bad in this world.

Farengar asked the Jarl if he could come along as well, looking excited about seeing the dragon. Jarl Balgruuf told him to stay here. Twilight smiled a little, it was like seeing Applejack and Apple Bloom having a conversation. Irileth signaled to Twilight to follow her, and she did. She started talking to her about preparing for the worse in case the dragon is still lingering there. Twilight listened as they ran down the steps from Dragonsreach, but she kept losing her breath and slowed to a walking pace. She surprisingly kept up with irileth though, it was probably a side effect from entering this world.

They reached the front gate of Whiterun, and Irileth was breaking the news to a few guards and soldiers. She was giving them a speech when Twilight heard one of the guards telling her that they were so dead. Twilight wanted to shut him up, but she remembered that couldn’t talk in this world. Irileth closed her with the words “Let’s go kill us a dragon” and she ran out of the front gate. The guards quickly followed. Twilight went after them, thinking they were mad for engaging combat with a dragon.

They ran downhill, passing what Twilight thought was a strange sight to behold. It was a campsite that was occupied by these unusual cat people. Twilight wanted to stop to ask a few questions, but she saw the group still running with Irileth. Twilight decided to come back later and soon followed them. On the way, Twilight saw Irileth run off the road for a bit, back and forth, and sometimes drawing out her weapon and sheathing it. She finally stopped at this rock, and turned to talk with Twilight. The Western Watchtower was in the distance, and it had an ominous look. The tower looked as though it fall any minute and patches of fire blazed in plant life nearby. Some ruins rested along the road. They reached the entrance in time to hear one of the guard yelling for the group to stay back.

Twilight listened to Irileth asking them if the dragon was still here. They told her he is still roaming around the area. Then Twilight noticed something coming out of the mountains from behind the Watchtower. It was the Dragon, and it was heading their way. The group saw the dragon and they drew their weapons. Twilight drew her weapon as well. The dragon wasted no time setting the tower ablaze with its breath. It sounded as though it was shouting some sort of words.

Twilight readied her arrow and bow and began firing at the dragon, sometimes missing it. There were a few successful hit, and the dragon started chasing her. It was shouting at her, and she caught fire at one point. Then she headed into the tower, and she remembered that healing spell back at the library in Ponyville. She started healing herself and then came out from the Watchtower to attack the dragon once again. Twilight had no idea why she wanted to kill the dragon, but she didn’t want to be burned alive and not return home.

She saw the guards and Irileth defending themselves now, and the dragon was fierce in its dangerous behavior. Twilight readied her arrow once again and released it. It pierced the dragon and he gradually landed near the tower, covered in its own blood. Twilight drew her sword and ran to the dragon. She hacked and slashed at the dragon ignoring the burn from his fire breath. The dragon soon stopped as Twilight climbed in its back and repeatedly stabbed at its skull. The dragon shouted some words that she somehow could understand. It screamed “Dovahkin!! No!!”

Twilight jumped off the dragon and something started to happen. The dragon started to burn up and light appeared from its decaying physical form. Twilight something passing through her and she felt a sensation like she never felt before. One of the guards said to Twilight that the legends were true, he said that she was Dragonborn. She somehow asked them what just happened and then the guard spoke to her about the legend of mortals absorbing dragon souls. Irileth hushed the conversation and the group had a discussion. Irileth told them that having someone capable of killing dragons is good enough for her. She told Twilight to head back to Whiterun and that she’ll stay that Watchtower if anything else would come up. Twilight obliged and headed up the road, thinking about what happened. She was destined to stop the dragons from taking this land. With no way of coming back to Ponyville, Twilight reluctantly told herself that she’ll have to fight these dragons and save this land; she also told herself that she could try and find a way to get back to Ponyville and Equestria.
