As Seasons Go
Autumn : Chapter 2
Previous ChapterChapter 2: When Leaves Start To Fall
The morning came too soon for Rainbow Blitz; the sun was shining bright outside his window. He opened his eyes for a moment but he was too tired to even look at the ceiling. Maybe the reason why he didn’t want to wake up was because autumn has finally arrived.
Once any season starts, Blitz had to wake up early to monitor his cadets on weather duty, which includes coloring the leaves to its appropriate color and changing the wind systems. It was a lot of work for Blitz to handle at an early age but he proved to the people in Ponyville; that a young captain like him can facilitate the weather of a whole village.
He closed his eyes again, trying to relax and forget about his responsibilities for a while. He was a laid-back kind of guy, he didn’t really mind about the simple things that were happening in the background. He didn’t care about most things but after meeting his best friends, he only cared about them.
‘Blitz, Blitz, Blitz!’
He woke up and recognized the voice again. He’s been hearing the same voice for the past minute now. He finally got up from his bed, approached his kitchen and prepared himself a cup of coffee.
“Blitz, Blitz, Blitz!”
He heard it again, but the sound came even closer. He turned off his coffee machine and went to his window. He popped his head out, but he saw no one, just a couple of Wind Walkers cleaning up some clouds from yesterday’s rain.
They both waved at their superior and went back to work. He waved back and looked around again to see who was calling him.
Blitz grew tired of searching so he decided to go back inside, but before he could, he saw a purple hot-air balloon below his house from a distance. It was rising up, right in front of his house. The calling grew louder and the voice became familiar to him.
“Is that Pinkie?” He went to his front door and opened it. He watched the balloon slowly rise up till he sees the passenger.
“Good morning Rainbow Blitz!” Pinkie cheerfully greeted her friend. She made the balloon land safely on his front yard and she brought out a basket for him. “AJ made sandwiches today but he was too busy, so he asked me to deliver it to everyone.”
He scratched his head and approached his pink haired friend. He chuckled a bit and accepted the sandwich. “Wow, never knew he would do this.”
Pinkie giggled and smiled at Blitz, “Well, he’s a very thoughtful guy!” She paused for a bit and noticed that Blitz is not wearing a shirt and he was only wearing boxers. She turned away and tried not to blush form the sight.
“Is something wrong, Pinks?” He looked at her, chewing on his sandwich. She shaked her head sideways and gave an awkward laugh.
“Oh it’s nothing, Blitz. I just never knew you sleep half naked.” She looked at his formed chest and her eyes slowly trailed down to his abdomen. She turned away again and gave a small blush.
Blitz gave a little chuckle and suddenly looked confident about his physical appearance. “As an athlete, you shouldn’t be afraid to show your body in public.” He approached her slowly and gave her a seductive grin. “You’re imagining me naked aren’t ya?”
“Whaaaat!? In your dreams, Blitz!” Her face was flushed with red and she pushed him away. He laughed and gave her another grin.
“I’m just kidding, Pinkie.” He gave a small laugh and noticed more people on duty came by to help with clearing the clouds and probably wanted to impress Blitz for a raise on their salary.
“You’re gonna be busy today Blitz?” Pinkie asked looking at the distance with him. She constantly looked at him then back at the workers again.
He looked at her with a grin and gave out a sigh. “Well, it’s already the start of autumn so I better get the skies properly arranged for it.” He sipped on his coffee and looked at Pinkie again.
“You better get dressed then if you wanna get your work done.” She fixed up her things in the balloon and prepared it to take off again.
Blitz chuckled; he placed his hand on the edge of the balloon basket and leaned towards her making their faces very close to each other. Pinkie’s face turned red and her big blue eyes widen, she tried to speak but the morning scent of Blitz kept her from turning away.
“Don’t you wanna stay for… Coffee?” He said in a seductive voice. His eyes darting on Pinkie’s and his breath gently brushing on her skin, he loves teasing Pinkie this way. He knows it calms her hyper attitude for a moment and he’s also confident that his manhood is something Pinkie can’t resist.
“Nope!” She said loudly and smiled at Blitz. “Gotta run! I’m gonna see Pokey later at the shop, see you!” She bluntly pushed away from Blitz and the balloon flew off from his yard and headed down to Ponyville. He saw her waving at him goodbye and she disappeared in the clouds.
“Well, I wasn’t expecting that.” Blitz scratched his head and went back into his house. He closed the door behind him and paused for a bit. “What’s up with her and Pokey?” He finished his coffee and placed the mug on his sink. He went into his bathroom and turned the shower on.
He stepped in the shower, felt the water rushing in through his hair and he washed himself. He thought about what happen, it was different for him. He always flirted with Pinkie, but he never felt jealous of the fact she mentioned Pokey.
He has no right to feel that way but he couldn’t help it. He never felt anything for Pinkie at all. Spitfire was his crush for a long time and he never tried liking another girl than the famous Wind Walker.
He stepped out of the shower and got himself ready for today. He wore his uniform and grabbed his shades, he looked at himself in the mirror with confidence but he frowned for a bit.
“Don’t make Pinkie a distraction, today is a big day, Rainbow Blitz. Make Mama proud.” He stepped out of his house and spread his wings wide signaling the workers to fall in. Several groups of Wind Walkers were right in from of him, in attention and ready for the tasks ahead. All of the workers in uniform and wearing hard hats just in case Ditzy Doo pass by when she makes her delivery.
“Alright everyone today is the first day of autumn. Let’s not screw up like last time and make sure that every tree, I repeat, every tree has to be in the right shade and color. Do I make myself clear?” Blitz commanded in a really loud and firm voice.
“Sir, yes Sir!” All of them saluted and replied with no haste.
“Remember guys, have fun.” He said with a smile. “Fall out!”
They all flew to every cloud and positioned some in a specific area, most of the crew were on the trees to get the right color for it. Some stayed to watch over if Ditzy passes by.
Blitz was the first young Weather Captain in Equestria. After his week in the Wonderbolts Academy, Soarin gave him special training to prove himself worthy, he was supposed to be a Wonderbolt, but Soarin and Spitfire knew that
Blitz’ passion was in Ponyville and that he valued his friends so much. So they gave him the title for the Weather team.
It was his third year being captain and it went smoothly so far. He started out bad on his first year, no one really listened to him and paid attention, but after a weather disaster that they made and Blitz was the one who saved Ponyville from it, they respected him more.
Blitz loved the job; he loved seeing people help out in the weather conditions in town. He even got an assistant and she volunteered herself for the job. Her name was Flitter and she was very helpful to Blitz. She was always on time and she would submit reports punctually.
There were times when Flitter would space out from her work when she’s with Cloudchaser. A fellow colleague from the Wonderbolts Academy, she also refused to become a Wonderbolt because she wanted to be with Flitter.
The ones that got in the Wonderbolts were Thunderlane, Wild Flower and Milky Way. They came to visit Ponyville every time to time; it made Blitz happy to see that they reached their goals. Blitz and Cloudchaser thought they made the right decision to choose their loved ones than their careers. Turns out they were right. Cloudchaser enjoyed being a weather cadet under Blitz and Blitz loved his job.
It was nice that his cadets were having fun when they work. Because Blitz hated to be a kill-joy most of the time, but he made sure that the task was to be done at his satisfaction. He watched the young cadets color the leaves and the more mature ones prepared the correct mixture.
When he looked at the group of friends among his cadets, he remembers his group of friends. He missed it when Pinkie would always prepare parties for just the six of them. Or when Dusk, AJ and him would have man to man talks and how Rarity would complain about his hairstyle and fashion. But most of all he misses Fluttershy; she was so important to Blitz and all he ever wanted for her was that she would be happy.
Blitz frowned at the thought of Fluttershy, he wanted to visit her but he was so busy with his job and she was busy with the clinic too. He saw her house from above and wondered how she was doing.
“I should pay her a visit this afternoon; maybe she’ll be free by then.” He said to himself.
“Hey there, Blitz.”
He turned around and his eyes went wide at the site of a very beautiful Wind Walker, standing right in front of him. He went into attention and saluted at her.
“Ma’am, good morning Ma’am.” He said in respect to his higher official. She giggled and placed his hand down.
“Just call me Spitfire for now, soldier. Plus, I’m not in uniform so relax.” She said patting his back gently. She smiled at him and looked around at the busy cadets. “They sure enjoy their work, huh.”
“It would be easier for me to get them do their jobs done if we weren’t that serious.” He chuckled and felt a little bit nervous being next to Spitfire. She was wearing a tank top and shorts, her shoulders were exposed perfectly and her muscles were forming out.
‘I didn’t know she could be this hot without uniform, I shouldn’t stare before something unexpected is gonna come out.’ He thought to himself. He felt a little sweat coming out from his forehead and he tried to look decent in front of her.
“So how is being Captain so far?” She asked.
“Well, it’s been really awesome actually. I got them to listen to me more, so it’s easier now.”
“You don’t say? Well, at least I know I made a good decision on giving you this position.”
“It’s an honor, Spitfire.” He smiled at her and he felt like he was blushing at that moment when he had a glance at her bright orange eyes. He looked away slowly and thought of something that would make their relationship even closer.
“Hey Spitfire, I was wondering if you would like to—“
“Go out with you?” She interrupted.
“Uhh… Well, yeah.”
“I’d love to.” She smiled at him sweetly. His eyes went wide and he was shocked that she was being a little soft on him. Maybe he was used to her giving him orders and shouting at him. This time she was acting like a regular Wind Walker.
“Would you like to have dinner then?” He asked trying to look confident in front of her.
“Well, I don’t mind actually. I’m staying in Ponyville for a week so it wouldn’t be much of a problem.” She smiled at him again. “So I’ll see you Wednesday night then?”
“Yeah, no problem, Wednesday night it is.” He cheerfully said. “But where do you want to eat?”
A few fans came up to Spitfire for an autograph. She signed a few and when they left she looked back at Blitz and gave him a small grin. She came a bit closer and gently played with his badge and whistle cord. “Surprise me, Captain.”
He took a deep gulp and started to sweat. “Y-Yes Ma’am.”
“Well, I gotta run Blitz,” She said moving away from him and looking around the area again. “I have to say, I’m impressed on the work you’ve done. Keep it up.”
He felt proud of himself when Spitfire said that. He felt more confident and stood straight with his chest out, he saluted to her again. “Ma’am, thank you Ma’am. It’s a great honor that you came to evaluate us,” He said. “And it’s a great honor that you’ll have dinner with me.”
She giggled and placed his hand down. “I always wanted to have dinner with you anyway, Rainbow Blitz.” She flew off and waved good bye to him.
He waved back and felt like bursting in joy. He always wanted to ask Spitfire out and she actually wanted to go out with him. He was so excited about it, but he had to think of a perfect place to have dinner. He has to make a reservation in a place fit for Spitfire.
He rubbed his chin and pondered for a bit. “Maybe I’ll call up the guys before choosing.” He thought about it again and remembered he wanted to visit Fluttershy. “I’ll see Kitty first before seeing the guys then.”
“Sir?” Flitter gently patted his shoulder. He turned around and he looked a bit surprised.
“Ah, Flitter.” He gave an awkward chuckle and cleared his throat. “What’s the progress so far? Everything good?”
“Actually Sir, Ditzy did come by and crashed on the newbies. So we have to clean up the spilled paint.” She explained while pointing out the mess which the clumsy messenger made. Blitz gave out a sigh and wiped his forehead roughly.
“Dammit Ditzy,” He looked at the situation and looked back at Flitter. “She probably had something important to do for Dr. Whooves again. I wouldn’t blame her if that was the case.”
“Well her bag was filled with gadgets and other mechanical stuff.” Flitter replied. She gave him a folder of records that had red markings on it. “She was supposed to give it to you but she landed on the wrong place.”
Blitz paused for a bit when he saw the folder. He tried to remember what the folder was for and he took it gently from her hand. “Thank you, Flitter.”
She looked at him for a while and cleared her throat. “I hate to be a bit nosy, Sir, but may I ask what this is for?”
He looked at her and brought her far from the crowd. They both landed on a cloud near his house. He looked at her seriously and held the folder tightly. “You can’t tell anyone, okay?”
“Yes Sir.”
He gulped for a bit and tried to find the right words to explain what it was. “These are files that came all the way from Tall Tale; it’s not too far from Vanhoover.” He read the writings on the folder and he stepped back a bit from surprised.
Flitter seemed confused about everything but before she could say anything Blitz gave her the folder. She read the writings and looked up at him.
“Is this…?”
“I’m trying to find where AJ’s parents are.”
“But how did you get this information?”
“I asked Dr. Whooves if he knows how to track down people. Apparently he only got distant relatives so he hooked me up with an information company at Tall Tale.” He got the folder from Flitter’s hands and tucked it in his underarms.
“But why are you doing this?” She asked again trying to figure things out.
He gave out a sigh and wiped his neck a bit. “You know, I owe AJ for a lot of things and he’s like a brother to me. Both Dusk Shine and him, the three of us were like triplets.” He sat down on the cloud and she sat next to him. “When I found out about his parent’s story, it devastated me. But I keep hearing different versions from each Apple member.”
“So you’re trying to prove that they’re still alive?” She asked sarcastically. “How in the hay are you gonna do that? With these files?”
“Well yeah, pretty much.” He looked at the folder again. “Doctor told me that his friend will give me accurate data on his parents which will include their address.”
“Does AJ know?”
“Heck no. But he believes they’re dead but I know he doesn’t want to accept that. So it’s up to his buddy to make things possible.” He said with hope in his voice. Flitter smiled and patted his shoulder.
“You have to be careful then. If you find out who they really are, they might harm you or what you’ll expect will turn out as bad as you think.” She looked concerned at Blitz and looked back at the workers who were already done with their work.
“They’re done? I think we gotta go back. Mayor Mare might need us.” Blitz said about to take off. He looked at Flitter and smiled. “Don’t you worry, whatever happens, I’ll be responsible for it.”
She smiled and hovered up from the cloud. “If you say so, Captain.” They both smiled at each other and flew off to dismiss the cadets and announce to Ponyville that autumn has arrived.
It’s true that AJ believes that his parents are dead but the rest of his relatives think they ran away from their problems they had at Ponyville, leaving their kids behind with Granny Smith. But Blitz was determined to make AJ believe that they are alive. He wanted to see his friend happy to reunite with his parents.
But then again, Rainbow Blitz never thought about his parents or any of his relatives.
Fluttershy sat outside her house drinking her morning tea and enjoyed watching the weather cadets making the trees fit for autumn. She loved the way the leaves fall on the ground and how the sun shined upon her garden. She knows the animals in her vet loved the breeze of the wind in each afternoon.
After years of taking care of animals, Fluttershy decided to study more on animal health care which officially made her a veterinarian. But due to lack of funds she couldn’t put up a specific building for her animal hospital so she made a small renovation in her house and made it into a small animal clinic.
It was very convenient for the people in Ponyville because Fluttershy didn’t charge for check-ups and confinement fees. She only required the owners to pay for the specific medications. But if the animal was a stray and it needed help, Fluttershy would take the animal in.
Even though she reached her goal in taking care of animals, she lacked the time to spend it with her good friends. She missed all of them dearly, though she knew most of everyone was busy and she couldn’t visit most of them at all.
She finished up her tea and fixed up the table, Angel came by to help her with her things. Fluttershy noticed someone approaching her house. She couldn’t see exactly who it was, so she wore her glasses to make it more visible.
She paused and panicked a bit. Angel was confused who it was or why she was panicking. Angel tugged on her dress and looked concerned. Fluttershy tried to calm down for him so she decided to go in. She reached for the door and opened it quickly.
“Mornin’ Fluttershy.” A deep southern accent greeted her.
She blushed for a bit and tried to turn around. But her shyness conquered her again. “G-Good morning, AJ.”
She heard a loud thump on the ground and she turned around to see what it was. She saw a large crate filled with fresh apples. “Oh my, is this my order?” She asked softly, she unconsciously looked up at him straight and she suddenly paused when she realized she was staring right at him.
She finally saw the freckles on his face and how his blonde hair fell right on his forehead. She recognized the brown ten gallon hat he always wore and the bright emerald eyes he had. He was smiling at her, and he took of his hat to greet her properly.
“Well, I saved up some apples for everyone in town and Ah’m delivering your share.” He said cheerfully. He was happy that she was finally looking at him and conversing with him personally. “Ah see you didn’t put up a note today, huh?”
“I guess I wanted to finally receive the apples myself this time.” She said looking down and she tried to fix her dress. She looked up at him again and smiled. “It’s nice to see you again, AJ.”
He blushed for a bit and chuckled, “It’s nice to see ya too, Fluttershy.” He wore his hat again and wiped the sweat off his arms. “Ah better head back to the farm—“
“Wait.” She softly said. He paused and listened to her. He stood still and waited for her to response. “I… I have something for you.”
“Ya do?”
“Well, of course. It’s at least I could do for all the times you deliver apples to me.”
“It’s alright, ya don’t have tah give me somethin’.”
“No, I insist.” She rushed in her house and looked for her simple gift for her friend.
He felt really happy, seeing her smile at him again. He heard her soft voice and her scent drifted on him. She looked beautiful in her dress and in her glasses. He couldn’t deny the fact that he still had feelings for the Wind Walker.
She came out and looked a bit excited to give him her present. Her wings were flapping a bit and she couldn’t hold her smile. “I made this for you.” She showed him a handmade bracelet made from yarn. The colors matched his checkered polo and it was wide enough to see the pattern.
“Why, thank you, Fluttershy. This is really thoughtful of ya.” He gently took the bracelet from her and felt the yarn on the bracelet. She gently took it from him and wore it on his wrist.
“It’s a perfect fit. I’m glad you like it, AJ.”
“Ah really like it. Thanks again.” He admired the bracelet and smiled at her again. The two were quiet and it made the atmosphere a little awkward for the both of them.
“How’s Dusk?” She asked trying to bring up a conversation. He found her cute when she tried her best to keep talking to him.
“Oh, that bookworm never changed, still doin’ the same ‘ol thing he does every day. Readin’ and writin’.” AJ chuckled a bit and thought about something else to say. He looked at her and she glanced at him, when their eyes met, she immediately looked away and turned a bit red.
AJ fixed himself and stood up straight, “Well, Ah better be on my way, Fluttershy.” He said and he tipped his hat at her. “Mighty thanks for the pretty bracelet. Ah’ll keep it safe.”
She smiled at him and waved. “I’m glad you like it. Thank you for the apples, AJ.” She looked at him in a shy way, “See you soon.”
He chuckled for a bit and gave her a warm smile. He started walking towards Sweet Apple Acres; he looked back at her and waved goodbye.
She waved back and felt good about what happened. She finally talked to AJ, forgot about how ashamed she was of doing that to him. Her smile slowly faded and she gave out a sigh, she started remembering what happened that day.
She went inside her house and saw Angel and the other woodland creatures playing around in her living room. She smiled at the sight and went upstairs to her room. She thought about her boy problem. When she was still a teenager, she fell in love for the first time. She fell in love with Rainbow Blitz, but when he found out; he was straight forward with her and told her she wasn’t his type.
This made Fluttershy fragile when it came to love and infatuation, she was very cautious around men who have interest in her. She has rejected men after men; she wasn’t going to risk her feelings. Fluttershy tried to go on without a man in her life; she told herself that it would take a perfect man to fix her fragile heart.
She didn’t seem to have any interest in AJ, but she couldn’t ignore him for the rest of their lives. AJ and Fluttershy have been friends since high school. It was one of the reasons why AJ liked Fluttershy and he witnessed the many men that have tried to be her suitor and he saw how she rejected all of them. But despite the fact he has seen them get rejected by the shy Wind Walker; he still was true to his feelings and gathered the courage to confess to her.
She wasn’t sure about what would she do with her emotions. She didn’t want to be heartless, she thought about trying to socialize with everyone again. But she was afraid of what might happen to her in the end.
It was a cold but sunny morning in Ponyville. The leaves were starting to fall and the people in town are starting to bring out their rakes and do their regular duties on autumn. Mayor Mare was doing her daily rounds in her beloved hometown and she was very cheerful to see the sight of happy faces.
The only thing she had to worry about during autumn was the annual Nightmare Night and the special guest was expected every year. Mayor Mare made it to the point that Prince Artemis was treated properly by the people in Ponyville and which made it easier for him to socialize with his subjects.
People in Ponyville knew they had to prepare ahead of time so each year will be more exciting. The morning has already started for everyone, so they all had to go to work so they could finish early and help out with the preparations for Nightmare Night.
But Rarity was still as busy as ever with the wedding gown, she had no time to spare for helping out for Nightmare Night. She was close to finishing it, she just had to add the extra designs on the gown, wash it, press it and finally finish her masterpiece. The bride was very specific with the requirements for her wedding gown and she expected so much from Rarity.
Well, Rarity could protest to the many requests from the bride since she is a local from Canterlot that came from a very successful family. Rarity was honored to be the tailor and she would give all her so efforts in making this wedding gown more than the bride expects.
She gave a big sigh and laid her aching back on her work chair and dropped her needle and shears on the floor. Sweetie Belle was holding the long end of the dress and felt a bit relieved of the results.
“It is finally finished!” Rarity cried out in exhaustion and she sat up and placed the gown on a hanger. Sweetie Belle took it gently from her big sister and hung it on the rack on the wall so they could both appreciate their hard work.
Rarity never felt so achieved in all her life. She was also excited to get the pay so she could finally plan on the dinner she was hosting for winter. Sweetie Belle gave her cup of coffee and smiled at her. Rarity took the cup and placed it on the table for a bit to embrace her little sister.
They hugged each other tight and for a while, Sweetie Belle felt the exhaustion of her big sister. She pulled back and smiled at Rarity.
“You deserve a day in the spa, Rarity.”
“You just read my mind Sweetie. I’m pretty sure Fluttershy would be there at around 2pm.”
“I’ll clean up and bring the gown to the laundry if you like?”
“You don’t have to worry about that. I asked AJ to pick it up and bring it on his carriage so we could avoid any damage.” She stood up and sipped on her coffee and looked at her gown once more. “Does it look good?”
“It looks perfect. Because we did it, together.” Sweetie Belle confidently said, she looked over Rarity and she saw Rarity tearing up and giving her a warm smile. She smiled back and felt really great that her sister could finally have the rest she deserved.
The sisters heard a soft knock on their door and they both fixed themselves immediately to make themselves presentable.
“It must be Miss Lovelace. She might be here to check on her gown.”
“I’ll get the door?”
“No, I’ll do it. Why don’t you prepare more coffee, Sweetie.” Rarity fixed her hair and took a quick glance in the mirror and took a deep breath and opened the door.
“Welcome to the Car—“ She paused and she looked very shocked. It wasn’t Miss Lovelace at all. It was an unexpected guest that she wanted to see all week.
“Good Morning, Rarity.” Said the young Arcane Magician, he gave her a small smile and held out a book.
She received the book and still looked surprised to see him. “Good Morning, Dusk Shine. What brings you here?” She asked in an awkward tone and looked at the book. “Is this?”
“You mentioned that you wanted to read about making Satin clothing out of nothing but magic, so I asked some friends over at Canterlot to buy it for me. I just received it this morning.” He said with a smile. She couldn’t explain how she felt because the book she desired to read was in her hands and it was all because of Dusk.
“But Dusk, you didn’t have to.” She was going through each page amazed at all the illustrations the book had. She closed it slowly and gave him a quick hug. “Thank you, thank you, thank you!”
“No need to thank me, Barbara gave me the location on where it was.” He hugged her back and smiled again. He loved her hugs, especially if he gets them by surprise.
She pulled away and looked at the book again with a glowing expression. After many stressful days of making the wedding dress, she finally got to feel so overjoyed just because of one book. She looked at Dusk again and she felt like screaming when she saw his charming smile.
‘He looks handsome today.’ She said in her mind. ‘But he’ll look much better if he had a haircut.’
“Why don’t you come inside? Sweetie Belle is making coffee so—“
“Miss Rarity?”
Rarity and Dusk turned around and saw an elegant woman standing in front of them. She wore an expensive dress and a lovely hat to compliment her ensemble. She was about Rarity’s age, a magician and she was taller than both of them.
“Oh! Miss Lovelace, good morning.” She rushed to great her customer. Miss Lovelace smiled and held Rarity’s shoulder as her friendly greeting.
“Good Morning too, I hope I’m not disturbing. I just wanted to check on my lovely wedding gown.” She said looking very excited. Rarity lead Miss Lovelace into her house eagerly.
“Go right in Miss Lovelace.” They both went inside and Dusk was about to leave. Miss Lovelace turned her head and stopped for a bit.
“What about you young man?” She said waiting for Dusk.
He turned back immediately and paused, “Me? I think its best I leave. I mean this—“
“You look awfully familiar.” She said examining Dusk Shine from head to toe. It took her a while to recognize him. “Are you the brother of Shining Armor?”
“Why, yes. I’m his brother.” He said with a smile and also a bit of surprise since he never saw Miss Lovelace before.
“I don’t think you remember me.” She smiled at Dusk Shine. Rarity felt a bit confused about the situation. “Your brother and I were classmates before. I was in the accelerated group of his batch. I used to tutor you before.”
Dusk looked at her more and the image of a teenage girl in glasses with an awkward smile came right in his mind.
“Oh! Linda?”
She giggled and gave him a kiss on the cheek. “I’m glad you remembered. You really are different now.” She looked at him again and smiled. She then looked at both Rarity and Dusk.
Rarity wanted to look away from both of them, she didn’t want to feel bad that Dusk had all the attention from her customer but she realized that they knew each other before. She went to close the door and looked at the two chatting.
She smiled at the sight, seeing Dusk smile at her customer and Miss Lovelace enjoying her time reminiscing with her past student.
She was about to enter the kitchen but Miss Lovelace’s giggle caught her attention and she looked back at the both of them.
“Oh, Miss Rarity, I never knew you were in a relationship with Dusk.” She said cheerfully looking at the both of them.
Rarity’s face filled with blush and tried to say something, Dusk also remained hesitant to explain to her that he wasn’t her boyfriend. Dusk came over her slowly and they both looked at each other, giving signals on who will explain first.
“Forgive me, Miss Lovelace, Dusk isn’t my boyfriend.” Rarity said, making things a bit more clear. She saw Sweetie Belle slowly coming in the room with coffee and she was a bit surprised to see Dusk in the room. Sweetie’s presence got Miss Lovelace’s attention and she smiled at the teenager.
“Good Morning, Miss Lovelace.” Sweetie Belle greeted, standing straight and giving a small courtesy. Miss Lovelace gave a small giggle and waved at her.
“Please darling, you only give me a courtesy if I’m old. I’m just getting married.” She went to Sweetie Belle and held her shoulders gently and gave a warm smile. “But I’m pleased with your presence. Your big sister has been teaching you several things about formality and respect.” Rarity felt a bit relieved about the feedback she’s hearing from Miss Lovelace. “Though, I am a bit disappointed at her.”
All of them were in shock and Rarity was already panicking. Was it the house? Or her clothing or maybe it was her hospitality. She looked at Dusk and gripped his hand hard. He knew what she was feeling and he was worried about her.
“But why is that Miss Lovelace?” Sweetie asked.
“Well,” She paused and looked at Dusk and Rarity again and smiled. “They aren’t in a relationship.” Sweetie Belle giggled to hear this and Rarity and Dusk were both blushing. “I mean, look at the both of you, you look perfect for each other. I could imagine you getting married and having children.”
Dusk almost choked on his saliva upon hearing this. Rarity couldn’t stop blushing; Sweetie was giving her the look and it made Rarity smile. Miss Lovelace smiled and looked around the room.
“Now, down to business Miss Rarity, where is my lovely wedding gown?”
“Ah yes,” Rarity let go of his hand and guided Miss Lovelace upstairs. Dusk watched them go up and Sweetie Belle nudged his arm.
“Just to let you know, I’m cool with you for my big sister.” She teased.
“Hey!” He looked at her and suddenly became quiet.
Sweetie looked at him with concern. “What’s wrong?”
Dusk looked at Sweetie Belle and smiled. “Can you keep a secret?”
“Sure!”
“But you have to promise me not to tell anyone except for Barbara because she already knows.” He took out his pinky and she intertwined her pinky with his.
“I promise.”
He took a deep breath and checked the room if they came back. He looked back at Sweetie Belle, “I’m in love with your sister.”
She was about to shout but he covered her mouth fast then she remembered to be subtle about it. He looked back upstairs to check if they were done. He gave out another big sigh and gently let go of her mouth.
“Since when!?” She tried not to say it loud; Dusk rubbed his neck and tried to remember.
“Just recently actually, I have no idea what came to me.” He sat down on their couch and Sweetie Belle fell right beside him.
“Do you really love her? Like the deep kind of love?” She looked up to him with a serious look. Dusk sensed the protectiveness of Sweetie Belle towards her sister. He gave her a smile and looked away.
“I honestly think I do. But I can’t be too sure.”
“Do you want to be her boyfriend?”
“Well, it’s too soon to think about that, Sweetie.”
“But do you?” She gave a more eager tone to her question. Dusk paused a bit and thought about it, being the boyfriend of Rarity. He gave a small frown and thought about her reaction if he confessed and what would happen if she rejected him. Dusk wasn’t ready for that kind of event.
“Maybe.” He said softly. He saw Opal coming in from the kitchen with dirty paws and her mouth filled with food stains. “Did she eat something?” He pointed at the white cat and Sweetie Belle sprung up from her seat and hurried to the kitchen.
“Opal! You weren’t supposed to eat that!” Sweetie went in to fix the dilemma while Opal just ignored her owner and went to another room across. Dusk chuckled at the situation and he heard Rarity’s voice becoming louder. The two elegant women finally came downstairs, Dusk observed them and he noticed Rarity looks very happy.
‘It must be a good thing for Rarity.’ He thought.
“Well I must be off,” Miss Lovelace prepared herself to go and she paused to look at Dusk. “It was nice to see you again, Dusk. I’ll tell your brother we met.”
Dusk stood up and approached Miss Lovelace for a handshake. “It was nice seeing you too, Miss Linda.” She gently put his hand down and gave him a small kiss on the cheek. His cheeks turned a bit red, she smiled and turned to Rarity.
“Thank you so much Miss Rarity. I’m so excited to wear my gown.”
“It was not a problem, Miss Lovelace. I’m glad you like it.” They shook hands and kissed their cheeks repeatedly. Miss Lovelace took off and Rarity gently closed the door and stood there for a while. Dusk approached her quickly and held her shoulder.
“Rarity? Are you alright?”
She could recognize the concern in his voice and she smiled. She looked at him with tired eyes and giggled. “I’m honestly glad you’re here.”
“You are?”
“Why of course.” She tried to carry her weight and walked towards the couch but stumbled on the floor. Dusk immediately caught her, he wanted to carry her but he feared he might drop her. He placed her arm around his shoulder and they went to the couch.
Rarity giggled and felt a bit ashamed. “Oh Dusk, you don’t have to worry about me. I’ll be fine.”
He gave a disapproving look and let out a sigh. “You almost collapsed, how can I not worry about that?” She tried to hide her blush after hearing that. He checked his watch and looked outside. “Well, it’s not yet time for lunch, so I’ll stay here more.”
“But you don’t have to.” She said a bit weakly. She tried to stand, though her legs felt so heavy but Dusk let her sit down. She blacked out a bit and fell on his shoulder.
Dusk almost panicked and tried to make her comfortable in her position. Then she fell slowly on his lap, she looked very dizzy and she couldn’t seem to carry her own weight anymore.
Sweetie Belle came in the room and saw her sister and Dusk, their eyes immediately made contact and she gave a sly smile at him. He was mouthing to her on what to do, she only pointed to Rarity’s room, which indicated that he should carry her tired body to her room, and so he gently stood up and held her hand making her stand.
She felt confused about what Dusk was about to do, she almost lost consciousness and but felt a bit lighter. He was already carrying her, she was a bit heavy for his capacity but he didn’t want to show her he was weak.
She wrapped her arms around his neck and fell asleep on his arms. Dusk realized how exhausted his friend was from all the sleepless nights of perfecting the wedding gown. He’s glad that all of that work didn’t go in vain.
He brought her upstairs to bring her to her room. Though he felt a bit hesitant, he has never been in her room and didn’t want to intrude. He felt a small shove on his back, he turned around and saw Sweetie Belle again, gesturing to go inside. She looked very impatient, like she wanted him to hurry up.
She opened the door and let him enter her room. She watched Dusk place her sister down on the bed and tucking her in. It was funny when Sweetie thought about it. Rarity and Dusk have no idea they have mutual feelings for each other. Rarity doesn’t know that Sweetie Belle found out about it, but it was obvious for Sweetie. She smiled at herself and quietly went back downstairs.
Dusk found himself beside her bed and she was defenseless in front of him. He gazed at her beautiful face and her soft skin. She looked so precious when she sleeps and he couldn’t help but to look at her. He checked his watch, it was already time that he had to go. He went to the door but paused immediately.
He looked back and pondered if he should. He approached Rarity again, and knelt beside her again and smiled.
“I’m glad I could help with the wedding gown and you really deserve this rest.” He said softly. “See you Rarity.” He smiled and gently placed a small kiss on her soft cheek. He immediately stood up and left the room.
His face was filled with blush; he couldn’t believe that he did that. But he felt a bit disappointed because he did it while she was sleeping. He scratched his head and walked home.
Rarity shifted her position on her bed and slowly opened her tired eyes. She could still feel the small kiss laid on her cheek and smiled at herself.
