My Little Colt season 1

CANTERLOT OBSERVATORY

The Canterlot observatory was one of the best in all of equestria. All of its staff picked by celestia herself. One stargazer however, was different from the others.

He was a yellow stalion with a blueish purple mane. His cutie mark was a comet with a purple tail. His name was Comet Tail, he did not socialize with the others, or anypony for that matter. He was currently sitting down, reviewing a star map. Across the room and elderly stallion with a tan coat, white mane and tail, and a star for a cutie mark watched. He was the observatory's head stargazer, night bright. Night bright approached Comet Tail, who looked up from his map.

"Mr Bright." Began Comet Tail. " I was just looking up the-"

"Hold that thought Comet." Interrupted Night Bright. "I have good news. Your getting a promotion."

Comet tail smiled at the thought of a promotion.

"A-A promotion? Thank you sir!"

"You will be in charge of the observatory down in Ponyville." Said Night Bright

Comet's smile faded and his eyebrow raised.

"But that observatory had been shut down for years." Said Comet Tail.

"That's why I'm re-instating it. Our star maps are outdated and we need you to map the stars above Ponyville."

"Couldn't you send some other pony there?" Asked Comet Tail.

"Well I would but you were picked by the highest authority to do this." Replied Night Bright.

"But that's you."

"You dont get it." Said Night Bright. "The HIGHEST AUTHORITY."

Comer tail ghasped.

"You mean?....."

Night bright smiled.

"You were hoof picked by celestia herself for this." Said Night Bright.

"But I'm just a stargazer." Said Comet Tail.

"So was I." Began Night Bright. "But one day I was picked to head this observatory."

Night bright put a hoof on Comet Tail's shoulder.

"Make us proud."

Comer tail smiled.

"I will."

Comet tail stood at the train station, luggage at his side with night bright.

"Remember, Ponyville is alot different than Canterlot." Began Night Bright. "So you don't need to be completely fancy with them. "

"I got it."

The train pulled in.

"Guess this is my train." Said Comet Tail.

"Now don't you forget to visit every now and then." Said Night Bright.

"I wont."

Comet tail shook night bright's hoof. Then he levitated his luggage and boarded the train.

Inside the train comet tail put his luggage in an overhead compartment and took a seat.

"Relax Comet Tail." Comet Said to himself. "Just go there, map the stars, then you can go home. Nothing more, nothing less.

Then a dark blue unicorn with a blue and white mane and a safety pin for a cutie mark boarded the train. His name was Pokey Pierce. Pokey walked down the aisle untill he reached the seat across from comet tail.

"This seat taken?" Asked Pokey.

"Guess not." Replied Comet Tail.

Pokey sat down.

The train left the station, heading towards the town of Ponyville.

"So is this your first time in ponyville?" Asked Pokey.

"Me?" Asked Comet Tail.

"There's no other pony here."

Pokey was right, the train car they were in was empty except for the two of them.

"Right..... Yes it is." Answered Comet Tail.

"I live there." said Pokey. "It's such a great place. So many interesting ponies and places."

"Oh joy." Thought Comet Tail.

"I was born in Canterlot, but Ponyville is my home! Oh I'm Pokey by the way, Pokey pierce."

"I'm Comet Tail."

"Maybe I could show you around some time." Said Pokey.

"You really don't have to do that." Said Comet Tail.

"Don't be silly, I'm always anxious to meet new ponies." said Pokey. "Guess that's why I love parties do much.

"Im not too fond of parties."

"Well you have yet to party with pinkie."

Comet tail raised an eyebrow.

"Is that legal?" Asked Comet Tail.

Pokey chuckled.

"Let me explain, pinkie is probably ponyville's greatest party thrower, not to mention easy on the eyes. Once you been to one of her parties, all other parties are nothing in comparison!"

Comet made a mental note to avoid this pinkie at all costs.

"But I've talked so much, why don't you tell me about yourself." Said Pokey.

"Well.... Um..... I'm not that interesting." Said Comet Tail.

"Nonsense, every pony is interesting to me."

Comet sighed.

" I'm a stargazer. "

"Cool." Said Pokey.

" I've been sent to study the stars over Ponyville."

"Pretty neat."

"And im going to be heading the ponyville observatory."

"The observatory? Wasn't that place closed?"

"Not anymore." Said Comet Tail.

"This reminds me of a funny story." Began Pokey.

The remainder of the train ride was spent with Pokey telling Comet a confusing story.

"So then I said, that's no candy came, that's my scarf!" Said Pokey, Holding back a laugh.

Comet Tail smiled and pretended to act like it was amusing.

The train reached ponyville station.

"Oh that's my stop." Said Pokey. " Nice meeting you Comet Tail."

Pokey got up and left the train.

"Finally, peace of mind." Thought Comet Tail.

Comet tail grabbed his luggage and exited the train. Among the crowd of ponies, he noticed Pokey chatting with a pink earth pony.

"That must be Pinkie."

Comet tail walked towards a Taxi and got on.

"Where to?" Asked the Taxi pony.

"Ponyville observatory." Replied Comet Tail.

The taxi pony pulled Comet towards the direction of the observatory.

The taxi stopped at a faded yellow observatory.

"There ya go." Said The taxi pony.

Comet Tail got off and paid the pony.

"Thank you." Said Comet Taip.

The taxi pony rode away as Comet Tail approached the observatory.

"Let's see how this place is." Muttered Comet Tail.

Comet tail opened the door to find that most of the observatory was covered in dust.

"......great." Muttered Comet Tail with an annoyed expression on his face.

Comet set down his luggage.

"Better get started cleaning."

Comet tail opened one of his suit cases, revealing multiple feather dusters. He levitated one with magic and started dusting.

"This is too much work for one pony."

Then he heard a knock on the door.

"Who could that be?...."

Comet opened the door, revealing a tan earth pony with a brown mane and three horse shoes as his cutie mark. His name was Caramel.

"Hi." Said Caramel.

"Uh hi......" Said Comet Tail.

"Im Caramel."

Caramel extended his hoof.

"Comet tail."

Comet tail shook his hoof.

"I heard from a friend that your in charge of the observatory now."

"Did pokey send you? Asked Comet Tail.

"No, he told a friend who told a friend that told me to come over." Replied Caramel.

"Could this wait?" Asked Comet Tail. "I'm busy cleaning up."

"Exactly why I'm here."

Comet Tail raised an eyebrow.

"What?"

"Pokey figured that since nopony was here for while, that it would be pretty dirty. So he told Pinkie, and she told my boss Applejack, and she asked me to help you clean up."

Comet wanted to be alone, but at the same time the extra help would be great.

"Alright, grab a feather duster." Said Comet Tail.

Caramel smiled and entered the observatory.

"Don't damage anything." Said Comet Tail

Caramel picked up a feather duster in his mouth and began dusting.

After an hour of dusting, the observatory was finally clean.

"Wow, this place is amazing without all the dust." Said Comet Tail.

"Yeah it really is." Added Caramel.

"Nice place."

They turned to see Pokey standing in the doorway levitating a box.

"Pokey. What brings you here?" Asked Comet Tail.

"Well I met pinkie at the station and I told her about you." began Pokey. "So she wanted to throw you a welcome to ponyville party."

"Oh please tell me she's not-"

Pokey chuckled.

"Don't worry, I talked her out of it." Said Pokey. "But she did make this."

Pokey set the box on a nearby table. Comet Tail opened the box, Inside was a cake.

"You have to try it, Pinkie makes delicious baked goods." Said Pokey.

"Almost as delicious as the apple family's homemade treats." Said Caramel.

Comet Tail heard his stomach growl.

"Guess I could go for some."

The three stallions sat at a table enjoying the cake.

"You were right." Began Comet Tail. "This is delicious."

"Told ya." Said Pokey.

Caramel took a bite of cake.

"So what else is there here in ponyville?" Aaked Comet Tail.

"There's carousel boutique, the spa, the bowling alley."

"We don't use the spa." Said Caramel.

"I do." Said Pokey.

Comet tail chuckled.

"I go there for my horn ok!"

Pokey gestured to his sharp horn.

"That's the sharpest horn I've ever seen." Said Comet Tail.

"It's a gift and a curse." Said Pokey.

"But if the balloons ever rebel." began Caramel. "We have our secret weapon."

Comet tail couldnt help but laugh at the joke.

"I have to go. I'm working tomorrow." Said Pokey.

"And I promised AJ I'd help with weeding." Said Caramel.

"Well goodbye then. Thanks for everything." Said Comet Tail.

The two ponies got up and left.

"Wait, did I just have a good time? With another pony?" Thought Comet Tail.

Comet tail got up.

"I did. Didn't I?"

Comet tail just realized that he had made two friends.

"Maybe I should take a walk....."

Comet tail walked out of the observatory.

Comet had decided to take a walk through ponyville park.

"Guess I just needed some fresh air." Muttered Comet Tail.

Just then a wadded up piece of paper bounced off Comet Tail's head.

"What the-."

Another one barely missed.

"Who keeps throwing these!?"

Comet turned to see a blue earth pony with a blue mane and a musical note for a cutie mark sitting on a bench writing music. His name was Noteworthy.

"No thats not it.... " muttered Noteworthy.

He crumpled up a piece of paper and threw it to the side, taking another one out of his nearby saddlebag.

"Maybe a slower tempo......."

"Excuse me sir." began Comet Tail. "But your paper kind of hit me."

Noteworthy looked up.

"Oh my apologies." Said Noteworthy. " I'm having trouble writing a song.l

"Your a musician?" Asked Comet Tail.

"Not exactly, I'm a songwriter, a composer if you will. Noteworthy is my name."

"Right.... I'm Comet Tail."

"Hm...... Maybe im thinking too hard..... " Muttered Noteworthy.

"I never could read music that well." Said Comet Tail.

"That's it!" Exclaimed Noteworthy. "I'm thinking about this the wrong way!"

"What?"

"Thank you Comet Tail, we must do something together some time."

Noteworthy slipped on his saddle bag and ran off.

"What was that all about?" Asked Comet Tail, confused.

Comet tail was about to resume his walk when a blue mass collided with him, knocking him onto the ground before it crashed into a tree.

"Ow...."

Comet tail got up and dusted himself off.

"What was that?" Muttered Comet Tail.

Comet looked to see a light blue Pegasus with dark blue mane with a winged cloud with a lightning bolt for a cutie mark. He crashed right through the tree, his head stuck in the trunk. His name was Soarin.

Soarin let out a loud sigh

"Not again." Groaned Soarin.

"Are you alright?" Asked Comet Tail.

Soarin looked at Comet Tail.

"Oh hey there." said Soarin. "Could you help me, I'm kind of stuck."

Comet sighed and grabbed onto soarin with his magic.

"This might hurt a bit." Said Comet Tail.

Soarin gulped.

Comet Tail began pulling with his magic, within seconds he managed to pull the pegasus free.

"Thanks pal." Said Soarin.

"Hold on, you look familiar." Said Comet Tail.

"You probably saw me before." Replied Soarin. "I'm Soarin of the Wonderbolts."

"What brings you to Ponyville?" Asked Comet Tail.

"I'm on leave." Said Soarin. "So I came back home."

"I'm surprised the paparazzi are not following you around." Said Comet Tail.

"That's the magic of show biz my friend, my teammate gets caught on a date with a model and they all go after him, leaving me free of any and all journalists."

"Friend." Thought Comet Tail. " I just met this guy and he's calling me friend."

"So what's your name?" Asked Soarin.

"Im Comet Tail."

"Well CT, I like you, we should hang out some time."

Soarin flew off.

"This has been a bizarre walk in the park." Thought Comet Tail.

Comet resumed his walk.

Comet tail walked through ponyville.

"Definitely a bustling community." Thought Comet Tail.

Comet tail suddenly felt thirsty, he remembered that he had't drank anything since before he got on the train at Canterlot.

"I could use a drink."

Comet noticed a saloon in the distance, above it a large sign reading, "The Watering Hole."

"Must be the saloon Pokey mentioned." Muttered Comet Tail.

Comet tail approached the saloon.

Comet tail had never really been to a saloon before, not because of a luck of interest, but because such places were not that common in Canterlot.

Comet entered the saloon. It was full of ponies happily talking and drinking various beverages. Comet took a seat at a bar stool next to a black Pegasus with a light blue mane styled into a mohawk. The bartender approached him.

"What ya fixing for?" Asked the Bartender.

"I'll take a grape soda please." Said Comet Tail.

The bartender left to fill his order. Then he noticed a very large overly muscular pegasi sitting at a booth seat with a large glass of carrot juice.

"Jeez, how does a pony get that big?" Muttered Comet Tail.

"Don't look him in the eyes."

Comet turned to the source of the voice, it was the pony next to him.

"He doesn't like other ponies looking at him." Said The pegasus.

"Point Taken."

"Your new around here." Said the Pegasus. "I can tell."

The pegasus extended his hoof towards Comet Tail.

"Thunderlane."

"Pardon me?"

"That's my name." Explained the Pegasus.

"Oh. Well I'm Comet Tail."

" So where ya from?" Asked Thunderlane.

"Canterlot."

Thunderlane rolled his eyes.

"Those stuck up ponies." Began Thunderlane. "I went there to see a Wonderbolts race with my little brother, stupid ponies kept talking down to us."

Thunderlane took a sip of his cider and cleared his throat.

"Oh my word what is with your mane? It looks like you had a fight with a lawn mower." Said Thunderlane, imitating a Canterlot accent.

"They tend to do that." Said Comet Tail.

"Im newer to town myself." Said Thunderlane.

Thunderlane took another sip of his beverage.

"I'm from Cloudsdale."

"I heard of that place." Said Comet Tail.

"Ya know, I can see myself hanging out with you." Said Thunderlane.

The bartender returned with Comet Tail's grape soda.

"Three Bits."

Comet gave him three bits. The bartender left to serve other customers.

"Your definitely not like any other Canterlot pony I met. Cept maybe that Sparkle chick."

Comet tail took a sip of his soda.

"Who?" Asked Comet Tail.

"Twilight sparkle." Began Thunderlane. "Personal student to Princess Celestia. I hear that she came down friendless with only that purple lizard of hers. But then she ended up making a bunch of friends."

Thunderlane finished his drink.

"Shes a smart mare."

"Twilight Sparkle." Said Comet Tail. "Sounds like I could get along with her."

"You just might." said Thunderlane. "I need to go, I promised my friends Flitter and Cloud Chaser I'd hang out with them. I'll see ya round Comet."

Thunderlane trotted out.

"There you go Comet." Thought Comet Tail. "Making yet another friend."

Comet tail took another sip of his grape soda.

It was late when Comet Tail was on his way back to the observatory.

"Maybe If I hurry home I can catch a peek at the stars before bed." Thought Comet Tail.

Comet tail was looking up at the sky and didn't notice the large earth pony stallion in front of him. The two bumped into eachother.

"Terribly sorry." Said Comet Tail.

"This some kind of joke?"

The earth pony looked at him right in the eyes.

"Excuse me?"

"You think your some kind of a joker eh?" Said the Pony."Bumping into other ponies?! I'll teach you a lesson!"

"I don't want a fight!" Said Comet Tail.

"That's a shame."

The earth pony pinned Comet to the wall of a nearby Ponyville house with his front right hoof.

"Because I do."

Then suddenly the earth pony experienced a sharp pain, causing him to release Comet Tail.

"Gah!"

"What the hay?" Muttered Comet Tail.

"Comet!"

Comet tail saw Pokey pierce jabbing the pony's side with his sharp horn. Caramel was standing nearby.

"You alright?" Asked Caramel.

"Yeah."

Comet joined up with the other two ponies.

"Oh I see, think poking me is funny!" Yelled the Pony.

The large pony knocked Pokey away from him, towards the other two.

"I'll beat some sense into you!" Screamed the Pony.

Then Noteworthy ran in and stood next to them.

"Is this a private fight or can anypony join?" Asked Noteworthy.

"Noteworthy?" Said Comet Tail.

"I heard the commotion."

"It's four on one big guy!" Said Caramel.

"Just walk away." Added Pokey.

Soarin flew in and landed next to them.

"Back off meathead."

Pokey: isn't that a wonderbolt?"

"Nice of you to drop by." Said Comet Tail.

"You starting a fight without me Comet?" Asked Soarin.

"Not really." Said Comet Tail.

"Enough!" Screamed the Pony. "I'm kicking all your fla-"

Before he could continue, Thunderlane flew in and kicked the pony in the face, knocking him out.

"Got ya covered." Said Thunderlane.

"Thanks Thunderlane." Said Comet Tail.

"Looks like you have quite the assortment of friends Comet." Said Noteworthy.

Comet Tail looked at his group of newly made friends and smiled.

"I do don't I?"

"What was the pony's problem?" Asked Pokey, looking at the unconscious Stallion.

"Anger Issues." Said Soarin.

"Well it's late, we should head home." Said Caramel.

"How about we all meet up somewhere tomorrow?" Sugested Comet Tail.

"Sure, I got time." Said Soarin.

"I can." Replied Thunderlane.

"How about the bowling alley?" Asked Comet Tail.

"Sounds good." Said Pokey.

"See you guys tomorrow then." Said Caramel.

They said their goodbyes and left for their respective homes.

Comet Tail sat in his bed as he wrote in a notebook.

Journal entry 1,

Today was my first day in Ponyville, and boy was it it a big one. I made some actual friends. They are kinda strange, but I guess its what makes them unique. I don't know how long I'm going to be in the town, but as long as my friends are with me, Im happy.

Comet Tail set the notebook on his nightstand, turned his bedlamp off, and drifted into sleep.
