Stanley's Parable: A New Ending
Once upon a time, the end!
This story is simply a test. But could also develop and change overtime. If you find any errors in this story, instead of disliking this, tell me so I can fix it so it's a win-win.
PS: If you can't understand this story, this story was never meant to be truly understand...
I walked down the infinite corridors observing things around me. I knew I would be trapped here for eternity. But I should... no... I CAN change that. I rushed down the halls back to my old room. As I got to my destination, I looked left. I saw a bookshelves and dug through them. I found a book on mechanics and science-y things. I knew that if I could achieve my salvation than pressing buttons, I must know more. I sat down on my chair and opened the book. After almost an hour of reading, I got tired. I looked at the clock 4PM, my eyes read. I looked down on my book, I was almost half way done reading. I marked the page and closed the book. At least I learn the basics of science. Literature was not my best subject. But as long as it makes sense, then it does matter.
I remembered being in a lab... a yellow beam... a generator. I jumped out of my chair and raced towards the lounge and threw the doors upstairs to my boss' room and found that there is no keypad... of course... no narrator means no controls... wait.. I hear a slight beeping sound in the walls. I pressed my ear against where the door should have been and listened......Beep I opened my eyes and grinned.
I grabbed the chair near my boss' desk and banged on the hollow wall. I am sure my boss don't mind if I take a look around, no wait... I am the boss... well, only mentally of course, I don't have anyone to talk to in the empty building. I have no one to talked toAs soon as I broke through, I found a metal wall blocking my only path of ideas. I panicked, but then remembered that I was the new narrator of this story.
I thought hard, remembering those times when my dictator had spoken and most of the time, things obey his command. Without him lifting a single finger. I then realized what I have to do. I must say something...
I haven't talked to anyone well over a month. And my food storage at the lounge had just ran out. I am not sure my vocal cords could handle this. I thought up the words required and opened my mouth. Practicing it without a sound. After a minute or so, I am now prepared to speak.
"I know this is ridiculous," I spoke, My voice was soft but deep, I cannot pinpoint the exact of what it sounds. "but I think this door should open."
No answer. I tried again.
"This door opened as I stepped through."
Still No answer, I was getting infuriated. But I will try one more time before moving on to other methods...
"The metal door that blocked Stanley's path opened, miraculously."
The door did as what I had told. I smiled and continued down the barely lit bunker. I went into a large room with monitors. As usual the monitors were just monitoring all the employees. All but mine was static. I never knew what happened to them, but I could carry out their lives in this body. The large door near me opened, the old room where the nuclear bomb had... or supposed to be destroyed the whole complex. I saw the lights and the buttons under them. I never knew how any of them worked when all at once.
You know what you are good for? I remembered what the voice in my head had said, Pressing buttons!
Just then an idea struck me! What if I had pressed all those buttons on each wall at the same time? It was simple, so easy. But yet, I cannot reach all of them at once. Maybe I could try poking them all with a stick. But there is no stick that long to find... I remembered when I tried running and tried to pressing all the buttons before time tries to kill me of that nuclear bomb. I want to master running, my grandfather was a free runner once. I never thought I would be in a situation where free running was actually needed...
I walked to the first button is and positioned myself with my left arm stretched out. I got ready and knelt down. I set myself into a start position. go... I released all my strength into my legs as I ran and pressed the buttons without stopping. As soon I have to climb up the ladder. All the lights, with buttons I had pressed, shut off. I sighed and gone back to the start and tried again.
and again.
and again.
and again.
and again, yet with no luck. I was starting to become mad, I tried a dozen more times with no power! I got so mad that I almost punched the buttons into submission.
But I didn't, as I got an idea of coffee.
I then tiredly walked upstairs to the lounge and made myself a ton of coffee and poured it into a pitcher I found. After the pitcher was almost full after pouring my last coffee in there grabbed the pitcher of coffee and went back down to the room. Ignoring the consequences, I drank all of the coffee in the pitcher.
Almost instantly, I felt my heart rate increased tenfold and felt a rush of adrenaline and my vision got slightly red. I felt determination and hyper as I have no time for start. I got up to the walls and without wasting a second, I raced. I raced almost as fast as sonic, down the walls pressing all the 4 to 5 buttons. As I got to the ladder, I found no time to waste on the ladder as it is only 6 feet and jumped high off the ground and grabbed the floor where the ladder leads to and flipped over. I landed on my behind and got up then pressed the buttons with red lights right on top of them. A box opened and revealed the lever. I wasted no time and pulled the lever with all my might. As it clicked to the other end and a bright light consumed me.
About an hour later, I woke up. I felt sick, really sick. why did I even drank that much caffeine!? I asked myself mentally. I got up and brushed myself off with my hooves. wait... HOOVES!? I looked down on my missing appendages and vomited. As I looked back to my hooves they were covered in brown regurgitated liquid. disgusting.. conveniently there was a river nearby. I knelt down washed my hooves in the water. Unusually, I felt that my back was much better in this position than in my standing one. After I washed my hooves and got onto all four hooves to satisfy my back. I walked around the field for a while and found a large town in the distance. I smiled in glee and raced towards it, looking forward to my new and non-boring life.
Life is short, and you gotta make the most of it. Work hard to achieve what you can before your only chance expires. Life is important to us which makes who we are. And yet....
It doesn't or never makes sense.
