Chapter One - Letters

"Hiya! Guess what I've found! -J"
"Um... have you found a swordfish? -C"
"What?! No. Something much better. Come and see -J"
"I'll be right over -C"
Kristina smiled and put down the phone, Catherine would hopefully enjoy the surprise she had in store for her. She got up and grabbed a biscuit from the cookie jar and munched on it while in thought. I wonder if she will like it. It has been years since we watched the show and she has grown up a lot but surely she hasn't forgotten... Has she? Her thoughts were interrupted by the doorbell ringing.
Kristina ran and opened the door, only to see Catherine shivering on the door step in the snow. Catherine had brown hair and green eyes, and was tall for her age, making her the same height as Kristina, even though she was a year younger than her. A small line of freckles had began to form on her nose and Kristina had taken the mick out of her for weeks because of it. Kristina smiled fondly at this memory and looked over to Catherine; laughing as she did so. She was suddenly zapped back to reality by a sharp and unhappy voice.
"Are you going to let me in? It's freezing out here." From the tone of Catherine's voice, Kristina could tell she wasn't in a good mood.
"Yes of corse," Kristina said, "we'll go and see what I found in a minute. Once you've taken off your shoes." She looked expectantly down at Catherine's brown boots. She stepped aside for the grumpy teenager to get in.
"It better be something important that can't wait to be seen or I have come from all the way across the other side of the city for nothing." Catherine said sighing in annoyance, stepping into the house and taking off her boots.
"Trust me its worth it! You'll love it." Kristina said, as she took Catherine's coat and hung it up on the cloak stand.
"You've said that a million times! I still wonder why I come and see what you have got to show me. Must be because I actually like what you find." Catherine said, trying to contain the smile that was peeking at the edge of her lips.
Kristina punched Catherine playfully on the arm. "Come on Miss Miserable, time to see what the surprise is." Kristina walked up the stairs, Catherine beamed and followed after her. The two reached Kristina's room. Catherine had always referred to it as a museum because of the junk Kristina had kept over the years, failing to throw away.
Catherine's eyes followed Kristina around the room. She was looking for something, what though, possibly her surprise, Catherine thought. She watched Kristina scurry under her bed but only to come back out confused. "I could of sworn it was here" She mumbled, as she got up and scanned the room.
"Kristina what are you looking for?" Catherine asked, putting one hand on her hip
"Wait and see." Kristina replied, Catherine rolled her eyes at this, it was typical for Kristina to not tell her anything; especially if it evolved surprises. The confused girl continued to hunt around the room until she spotted what she was looking for. Her face lit up and she brought the thing over to Catherine. "This is what I have been wanting to show you!" She said, thrusting something into the bemused girl's hands.
"Papers? Not even that Letters. I travelled half way across the city, in snow-which isn't easy- just to see papers! Kristina how da-" She was stopped by a grubby finger pressing to her lips.
"Catherine do you remember when we were little and we loved the show My Little Pony; Friendship is Magic. And do you remember how we used to spend hours dreaming about Equestria and all the wonders it would hold if we were there?" Kristina said, with the slightest tone of annoyance in her voice. Catherine nodded, with the finger still on her lips.
"Do you remember you were a hyper-active child and saw the positive side of everything."
"Well I wouldn't say hyperactive!" Catherine said, pushing the finger away from her lips, allowing her to talk for the first time.
"Quiet let me continue."
"Fine"
"Do you remember that one afternoon you got so excited and hyped that you decided we would write letters to Princess Luna and Princess Celestia? Well I found those letters." Kristina said, pointing at the letters that lingered in Catherine's soft hands.
Catherine looked down at the letters and back to Kristina and then back again and them back to Kristina. After a moment or two a huge smile suddenly broke out on her face.
"You found them!! I thought they were lost! OHMIGOSHOHMIGOSHOHMIGOSH!!" Catherine squealed, the letters had been the one of the many keys to her childhood. She bounced up and down in excitement and was grinning from ear to ear.
"That's the Catherine I know!" Kristina smiled, trying to calm the hyper girl down. "Look we can read through them" Kristina said, snatching the letters from Catherine's feeble hands and setting them down on the floor.
She sat down and Catherine soon joined her. She picked up a letter and laughed.
"Catherine check this letter out, 'Dear Princess Celestia, Today we learnt that it is better to forgive and forget in holding grudges, it can hurt people's feelings and even yours too. From your faithful students Kristina and Catherine." The two girl chuckled and looked through the piles of letters again.
"Hey this one's to Luna, she was my favourite princess."
"Read it then"
"Hold your horses. Okay here we go. Dear Princess Luna, Today we learnt that it is never good to cheat in a test because it gives you false scores and it always comes back to haunt you in the future. From your faithful students Kristina and Catherine." Catherine read aloud, dropping the letter to the floor.
"I remember that day. I had cheated on my maths test and you told me off and gave me a lecture until I reminded you, you cheated on that test to!" Kristina started laughing and Catherine bursted out into a fit of giggles.
"Let's look though some more"
The girls continued to looked through the vast pile of letters, laughing every now and again at the memories that remained with the letters. Until they spotted one addressed to them.
"What's this?"
"What's what?"
"This letter, it's addressed to, well us."
"Let me see, this letter was sent two years ago. Haha it says its from Luna , must of been one of us writing a letter to the other pretending to be the Princess of the Night."
"I don't know, it does seem pretty real."
"If you are so sure it's real read it then,"
"Fine, Dear Catherine and Kristina, thank you for your letters, they were very beautiful. They help us learn new things and put them into practise. You have done so much for us over the years without realising it" Kristina read before being interrupted by a non believer a.k.a Catherine.
"See told you. It's all fake."
"Will you shut up, there is more."
With that the grump shut up and allowing the story teller continue.
"Thank you," Kristina said to Catherine, before reading, "But now, I must ask for you need, we are fighting a terrible battle in Equestria. Ponies are being enslaved to work for The Lord of Chaos."
"Whose he?"
"Will you let me at least finish it."
" Oh right! Yea, sorry"
"You are the only ones that can save us, it is with your faith and belief that you can do it. I don't have much more time to explain but please find us and help us. From Princess Luna" Kristina said, putting down the letter.
"Hahahaha, that was fun-, Kristina what's wrong with that letter?" Catherine help up the piece of paper and showed it to Kristina, to their surprise the letters started to roll off the page.
"What the?" Kristina said utterly confused, she looked over to Catherine; who looked like she was about to have a panic attack. Being distracted for a few minutes, she didn't notice the blue cloud of magic rising from the letter. When she did it was too late.
"Kristina what's happening!" Catherine screamed, finally finding her voice. Before getting lost in the smoke. A few seconds later, Kristina heard a thud to the floor.
"CATHERINE!! CATHERINE!" She called, " Where are you?" She managed to blurt out before falling to the ground with a thud. The magic consumed all around her and all of sudden she felt very sleepy. She saw Catherine, not far away from her, unconscious. At least she's okay, Kristina thought. Before it all went black...
