//-------------------------------------------------------// Thunder & Lightning -by Fonypan- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// -Thunder meets Lightning. //-------------------------------------------------------// -Thunder meets Lightning. CRACK! The sudden sound of a sonic boom ringing out in the skies above the city of Cloudsdale. A white and blue stripe streaking across the sky. CRACK! Another boom ringing out, followed by another. CRACK! The white and blue stripe moving at an impossible pace, whipping in and around the clouds at break-neck speeds. Finally, the white and blue blur comes in to focus, a white pegasus with a long, brilliant blue mane and tail stopping right in front of a pegasus wearing a wonderbolts uniform. "So... ...what did... ...you think... ...of that?" She said gasping for air after exerting her self so hard. "I can honestly say I've never seen anything like it, that's certainly the fastest I've ever seen any pegasus go," Said the opposing pegasus standing right before her, "But it seems we aren't accepting new recruits at this time or for the foreseeable future," "Oh yah, what about those guys?" The white pegasus retorted, pointing at a small group of new recruits. "Ahh, yes, well they aren't so reckless, and didn't manage to demolish half of the Cloudsdale capital building," The wonderbolts recruiter said. "That only happened the one time! Besides nopony was hurt, and it was just an accident." steamed the white pegasus. "Regardless, You'er still banned from joining the Wonderbolts, it says so right here," He says as he holds a clipboard up to her with her name 'White Lightning' with a big red 'BANNED' stamp across it. "But... not only am I the fastest flyer to ever attend flight school!" White lightning says yelling at the recruiter, "Even the wing-power aptitude scale was re-calibrated so that everypony is compared to me, for I have the highest score ever recorded, so why would I be banned from the wonderbolts?!" "Probably because you can't follow the rules," the recruiter groans. "Yah, well fine," White grunted as she spread her wings and launched into the air. "Who needs you guys any way?" she murmurer to her self as she slowly glided home. The following day White Lightning is doing her daily job, cloud control, whipping through and around the sky smashing through clouds and rearranging them perfectly into there scheduled placements almost instantly. So fast it sometimes looks like the clouds are moving on their own, which of course is impossible. She flies with such high velocity, you can actually hear the air whipping over her body, from a fairly good distance, as it generates a high pitch whine. WHAM! The white pegasus crashed into someone. Lightning gets up, shaking her head. "Whoops, my bad!" she says to a cobalt blue pegasus with a scruffy rainbow mane and tail. "You have beautiful magenta eyes," He cooed. "Uh... okay?" She said furling a brow. " And you have yellow eyes." "Yeah, I do..." He murmurs enamored. "Uh I gotta go back to work so... Again, so sorry," She says to him unfurling her wings. "Wait.... Whats your name?" He shouts. "Uhh... ,White Lightning m'kay see-yah," "Blue Thunder!" Stopping her in her tracks. "What?" "My name, Its ,Blue Thunder that's all... " He blushed. "Alrighty then. See-yah later, 'Blue thunder'." White says as she races off vanishing into the distance just as fast as she appeared. The next morning White moans, rubbing the fairly notice able bruise on her left wing, observing it in a mirror, as shes still thinking about that odd pegasus she ran into, as shes getting ready to go maintain the Cloudsdale sky. White Lightning being one of very few honored with the task, for she is the fastest and most dexterous at cloud control ever recorded, But absolutely far to reckless. Lightning sighed, "It still stings?" She whimpered carefully stretching out her injured wing to get a better look at it. "I don't know if I'll be able to work at top performance today," She groaned as the wing aeked with every heart beat. "I really need to pay more attention, a wipe-out like that could have been more serious..." Later that day as she's pushing the last of the clouds on her schedule in to there place. "HELLO!" Shouted a head suddenly popping out of a cloud. "BWAHH! What the hay! You scared me half to death," She scolds him as she stabilized her balance. "Yes, I suppose it was uncalled for, but at least I didn't crash in to you," Said the cobalt pegasus. "Yah, well I didn't mean to." White barked. "I know. With the way you ricocheted of that cloud yesterday I was surprised you or I wasn't really hurt any worse... So hows you'er wing?" "How can you tell my wing is hurt?" She asked suspiciously. "Well, for one that large blue lump on it, and two yesterday when you took off you had quite the noticeable limp," He gestured waving his wings. "I'm fine I've wrecked much worse than that," "Have you at least gone to see a doctor?" He kindly wondered. "It looks pretty serious to me, it could be broken," "Like I said, its fine," She stated, not long before being drug to the hospital ageist her will. "Oh come on, I said I'm fine," White quivered staring at the front door to the hospital. "What?... You'er not afraid, are you?" He asked raising a brow in suspicion. "No, why would i be afraid of a hospital, with all those needles and sick folk wandering around?" She shuttered, as Blue nudged White into the waiting room. "Just tell her!" Blue nodding his head toward the receptionist. "Nuh-uhn!" White grunted like a child. "Sorry about my friend here, she is just a little shy of hospitable it appears, but she has an injurer wing, and at the least it needs to be looked at." "Here fill this out," the receptionist hands a clipboard to them, "and a doctor will be with you momentarily." "Thank you." Blue politely bowed, and quickly escorted White to a chair in the waiting area. "White Lightning," a nurse called out standing in a door way, "the doctor will see you now, please fallow me," With that Blue and White quickly fallowed the nurse, "Please wait for ,Dr. Strongshy he will examine you shortly." The nurse explained kindly as she lead them to an examination room, "and if you need any thing wile you're waiting just call my name and I'll be here likkaddy-split." "Uhh... you didn't give us you name," Lightning mentioned. "Oh, my name is 'Soft Cure', sorry today has been a little hectic." She kindly nodded before leaving and closing the door. Just to break the awkward silence while waiting for the doctor, "so hows life been treating you?" White speaks up. "Oh well, recently I've met a cute mare... But I doubt she likes me very well..." Blue hinted, "and I've been doing good working at the weather factory." "Ahh, so you work at the weather factory?" White queries, trying to ignore the obvious complement Blue had made. "Yep, so other then cloud control, what do you do with your self?" Blue asks. "Well when I'm not crashing into strangers, I'm usually trying to convince the Wonderbolts to let me join them. But seeing as how I've been banned-" "You're banned from the Wonderbolts? how did you do that you've got to tell me that story!" Blue interrupted. "Well, its kind of a funny story," She shrugged, lowering her head. "Do you remember when the capitol building collapsed?" "No way. That was you? How did you manage that?" "Well that was back when I first broke the sound barrier, I was so excited that I did it again right through the center of Cloudsdale, and that's how I learned that a sonic boom is often fallowed by a shock-wave that passes through the atmosphere, apparently the building wasn't designed to take that kind of force, and so it made it in the local newspaper." She finished her story with good timing, because right after, the door opened as the two were getting to know each other. A tall yellow colt with a red mane, wearing a white lab coat. "So this says injurer wing" He states looking up from the chart as he puts it aside. "Hello I'm Dr. Lance Strongshy," He said in a kind but rough voice. "Let me get a closer look, so that I can see what i can do for you," White carefully turned to put her left wing forward wincing as strong shy gently grabs it with his hoof, "ahh. I see, the joint has become dislocated, you should have come in sooner! If it where to heal like this it could severely handicap your flying ability. Now, how did you dislocate it?" looking over to Blue with suspicion. " Well, I was on cloud duty, and wasn't paying attention, and lost control, that's when I met Thunder here," White explained. "And I didn't want to come here because I mite be just a little weary of hospitals, so he kind of talked me into it." "Well your lucky, at this stage this is a simple procedure but I warn you, this is going to hurt." Lance cautioned "are you ready?" "I guess so..." White winced at the idea of pain. "Okay, brace yourself," White grit her teeth. Lance took the end of the wing in one hoof and where it meets White's back, in the other hoof, then with a sickening CRACK! Lightning letting out a loud yelp in pain as the wing is resocketed to where its supposed to be. As they left the hospital Blue paid the bill then carried Lightning on his back over the gaps in between the clouds on the walk from the hospital to her house, after all she couldn't fly, with the freshly repaired wing still throbbing in pain. "Thank you." White sighed as she climbed off of Thunder's back out front of her house. "No problem" He cheerfully answered. "I'm all ways happy to help a friend in need." "A friend?" White responded in shock. "Well of coarse so what if we only me yesterday? We are friends aren't we?" "Yah, but..." was all she could say before Thunder quickly pecked a kiss on her cheek, and taking off causing her whole face to turn bright red as she blushed. "You'er such a silly filly!" Thunder chuckled as he took off, toward his home. "I'll see you tomorrow right!?" Lightning exclaimed, as the Blue pegasus turned to wink at her just before he was out of sight. //-------------------------------------------------------// -Romance stuff. //-------------------------------------------------------// -Romance stuff. Blue Thunder and White Lightning had been friends for almost a month now. Since their initial meeting, they had begun to hang out on a regular basis. White Lightning would never admit it, but she liked having Blue Thunder around. He was funny and kind, and she had to concede that he had been right about taking her to the hospital earlier. He also was a good listener. Blue Thunder could be relied upon to lend an ear whenever she needed to vent about something; often it was about how it was unfair that the Wonderbolts had banned her for life. He never told her to move on, or to give up. Talking to him, Lightning was sure that someday, she would wow them enough to make them overlook their own rules and sign her up, because she was just that awesome. In the month since her crash, Lightning’s wing had healed up almost perfectly and she was back to flying nearly as fast as she had been before her unfortunate wipe out. She was still a few seconds off her fastest pace and her wing burned if she flew for more than a few hours at a time, but she was confident that she could make it back to her old self with a little more training. Thunder had taken White Lightning to all of his favourite spots to hang out around Cloudsdale and even out on a few longer trips to some of the more distant locations of Equestria. He had even agreed to work as her flying partner while she focused on getting her wing back up to speed, spotting her whenever she overdid it. Right now, she was having a ball of a time; teasing Blue Thunder with a little friendly race through the skies around Cloudsdale. Blue Thunder wasn’t anywhere near as fast as she was, but he was a determined pegasus and didn’t give up. Where Lightning could blast through a track in a matter of seconds, he would take minutes but he never gave up and kept putting along until he reached the finish line. Right now, she was lounging on a cloud while Thunder covered the last few hundred meters of the course. Her wing twitched a little as she watched him; a clear sign that she had strained herself a little bit already. While it wasn’t anything that she couldn’t work through, Thunder had been teaching her that overlooking the pain would only cripple her in the long run and potentially dash any remaining hopes she had for getting into the Wonderbolts. She would have to do the rest of today at slightly faster than his best speed. "You still can't keep up with me?" she called down to the advancing blue blob that was Thunder. She was resting on a cloud, slowly stretching out her wings and occasionally taking a moment to preen a feather or two. Wings as good as hers took a lot of care to maintain. "Oh come on, give me a break... we've been practicing like this for days!" Blue muttered up to her, out of breath, “I’m never going to be as fast as you.” “Slow poke,” Lightning stuck out her tongue at him before flapping away from her cloud lazily; taking care not to stress her weakened wing any more. She could handle cruising easily enough; it was only when she pushed herself now that it began to act up again. “You should watch what you say,” Blue called up at her, still trying to close the distance between them. “Or what?” Lightning called back down, “You’ll come up here and make me eat my words? I’d like to see you try.” “Watch this,” Blue Thunder called out, putting all of his remaining energy into one final flap of his wings. He surged forward with an unexpected burst of speed and closed the distance between them rapidly. Lightning watched him come and reacted instantly, flapping her wings a little harder and rising up higher into the air. Right into the base of a hard-packed cloud highway, as Blue Thunder had been hoping. Hard clouds were a special product of Cloudsdale, able to hold light objects in place as if they were on the ground. Mostly used in housing construction, they were also used to create skyroads for transporting goods between cities in the clouds and White Lightning had just flown smack into the bottom of one. “Oww,” she called out, bringing a hoof up to rub the back of her head where she had impacted the skyway. Her moment of distraction was all the Blue Thunder needed, and with a second burst of speed, he caught up to Lightning and dashed right past her, letting his prismatic tail swish past her nose. “Who’s the slowpoke now?” he called from above her, dancing a little jig in the air before landing on the skyroad. “No fair,” Lightning said from her spot below him. “You made me slam into this. You cheated.” “Said the mare who didn’t look where she was going,” came Thunder’s retort. Lightning had to grudgingly admit that he was right; she hadn’t looked at where she was going. Lightning flapped up a few times and came in to land next to Blue Thunder. The pair of them sat down on the edge of the skyroad and basked in the golden sunshine radiating down from the sun. Neither of them spoke, and they just looked down over Equestria far below. Tiny brightly colored blobs that were ponies working in the fields appeared as ants. After a few moments, White Lightning began twitching her wings again. She didn’t like sitting still for long periods and her wing had started twitching again. Blue Thunder turned over to face her and saw her wing twitching on its own. “Your wing acting up again? You know you shouldn’t push yourself just yet,” he said, moving up around Lightning. With soft movements, he pushed his hooves under her wings and began massaging the sensitive muscles and nerves close to the wings’ joints. Lightning flinched a few times when he pushed down harder than he should, but his hooves felt good and soon her wing began to relax on its own. “Oh, where have you been all my life, Thunder?” she said, relaxing fully, melting into a pony shaped puddle. Blue Thunder’s hooves felt like magic on her sore muscles and she lifted her wings up to give him easier access. With a sudden gasp, she felt Blue Thunder’s teeth clamp down on her feather tips. A series of sharp tugs and pulls followed as Thunder began preening her wings in addition to rubbing the joints. Lightning knew that she should put a stop to it. Preening another’s wings was something normally reserved only for couples; it was a very intimate thing to do. Part of her didn’t want to push him off though; his hooves and teeth felt too good. After a thorough preening Thunder helped Lightning to her hooves and took off flying casually and aimlessly. “Um... White?” she quickly disappeared from Thunder’s view as soon as they crested a cloud. “Where’d you-” Lightning pounced over Blue, knocking him flat onto his back. In a moment, she had both his forelegs pinned to the cloud and she was looking right down into his eyes. “Um... what are you going?” She batted her eyes at him, a coy smile forming on her face. “Oh, I don’t know. We are both adults here; how about some ‘other’ physical pursuits. Thunder stared blankly at her for a moment; his mind trying to process her meaning. A second later, he finished and realised exactly what she was suggesting. ‘POMF.’ Thunder’s wings shot upright in an instant. Lightning smiled at him; he was reacting exactly as she had hoped, evidenced by how his wings were now standing at their full attention. “Looks like somepony is happy to see me,” she cooed before reaching down and planting her lips on his. Thunder slowly relaxed into her kiss, returning it and bringing up his hooves to caress her face. It had been a long time coming, but he had known from the moment that he saw her careening directly towards him that he was in love. Now here she was, wrapped up in his legs. Blue Thunder broke the kiss and pushed White Lightning off of him. She whimpered slightly but quickly silenced herself when she felt his hoof lightly press against her lips. Smiling, he leaned in and gave her a second kiss on her forehead. “Your place or mine?” he asked. “Yours,” she replied, throwing herself on top of him again. Blue Thunder could only silently agree as he felt Lightning’s hooves all over him. Author's Note Co-authored by: Fimbulvinter (https://www.fimfiction.net/user/Fimbulvinter)
