Dawn in Equestria
He opened his eyes and squinted at the bright glow of the sun, he was suddenly confused. I'm sure the weather forecast was rain all night and all day today? He thought to himself, and whatever was below him felt harder than his mattress did. Had he been kidnapped? Maybe he was kicked out of his flat during the night? All of these questions played over in his head until he noticed he could only hear the chirping of birds and the trotting of hooves on cobbled stone. Strange.... he thought to himself, I don't remember the modern world using this many horses.... Maybe I time traveled in my sleep. The trotting of one particular horse seemed to be getting louder and closer, though. "Who or what are you?" he heard a female voice as the horse approached him. "How would you not know what I- Where did that voice come from....?" He looked around, all he could see was a pony walking up to him. Since when were horses, or ponies, a pale, light grayish mulberry colour? The shock of this made him unable to answer the question he had heard, supposedly. "I haven't seen any of your kind in Equestria before, where are you from?" The voice queried again. This time, he realized, it was the same voice, but it seemed as though it came from the pony.
"Uh.... did you just.... talk?" He asked,
"Yes, I did" the pony replied, all he did was sit there, gobsmacked. Ponies aren't supposed to talk. Unless.... he stood up and looked down at her, "I- I'm a human" he stammered, still shocked. The mulberry pony looked thoughtful for a moment then perked up: "Oh, a human! Yes, I've read about humankind in books; they come from another dimension. But if humans come from another dimension. Then how are you hear?"
"That's exactly what I want to know...." he replied,
"OK, so you're a human. What's your name then?"
"I'm Marcus"
"It's a strange name, but oh well! I'm Twilight Sparkle." Marcus nodded,
"Well, that's a strange name too...." Twilight looked offended, "I'm a human; different dimension different concept for names. It's gonna be a strange name to me, just like mine was to you," Marcus explained.
"I guess so" Twilight replied, "so what's your dimension like, and what's your planet called?"
"Well, to start off with; my planet is called Earth," Twilight nodded, acknowledging what he had just said. "As for our dimension, the galaxy is a beautiful place, well, that's what I think. There's all the planets, which are fascinating and their names really suit them, my favorite planet is one called Jupiter; it's classed as a gas giant as the surface is made purely out of gas, it has really high gravity and is uninhabitable, Jupiter also has 53 to 54 moons. My favorite moon is called Titan; it rains methane because of something within the atmosphere, it is most likely a habitable place, but is one of the only moons with an atmosphere that we know of, it's also one of Saturn's 52 moons. As for our planet, it may well have two moons, but for now we can't be sure, and it's inhabitants..." he hesitated and took a deep breath, "...some are murderous, horrible, sick-in-the-mind, insane, though most of them are nice, kind, generous, tolerant and peaceful" he said. Twilight looked horrified and sympathetic; horrified because of his description about all the bad people, they sounded so chaotic, and sympathetic because Marcus, who seemed like a good guy, had to live through all of the bad parts of it.
"None of that happens here..." she said, "I'm sorry you've had to live through all of this," she looked up at him and decided now was a necessary time to change the subject. "I like the galaxy too, it's one of the most wonderful things I've seen in my life." she told him,
"And it's the closest I ever got to peace in my dimension," he said distantly.
"Well, now you're here, you got that peace! Hopefully this place will be OK for you."
"Yeah, hopefully" he replied glumly. He looked around himself to see no other humans, everyone here seemed to be a pony, which didn't surprise him really because of the fact the ponies here spoke. "I could just be dreaming," he suggested aloud,
"No, you aren't dreaming, Marcus. Trust me," Twilight said,
"Well, now I just have to spend the rest of my time here working out how to fit in until I find a way out."
"No you don't. I mean you may be big and scary, but it shouldn't be hard at all to fit in if you're a nice person, and by the looks of it, you are!" Twilight reassured him. He smiled down at her then looked around,
"Where should I start then? And my guess is that you sleep on hay," Twilight shook her head at this,
"No, we sleep on beds. These are things that have-"
"I know what a bed is, Twilight," he interrupted, "we use them in my world. It's just the horses where I come from usually sleep in barns on hay or in fields on grass," Twilight looked surprised as if every dimensions horses, if every dimension had horses, should sleep on beds. "They don't speak, either" he said with a small hint of a laugh in his voice.
"Anyway, I'll answer your previous question," Twilight continued, "I'll make some room for you in my house for now, you can stay there whilst we work out what to do with you," she nodded her muzzle towards a tree house.
"What do you mean by we?" Marcus asked, curious of what she meant,
"My five friends," she replied, "I'll see if I can get them to help with making you comfortable." Five more? he asked himself What next, they have pets too? Twilight started to walk away,
"You can wait in the house while I go and find them, ask them if they can help me make a human feel..." she hesitated for a bit, "...more at home in this place. How patient are you?"
"I'm quite patient," Marcus replied. They reached the tree house and Twilight opened the door, it was only then that she realized this creature was approximately 7 inches too big for her door, and a bit too wide as well.
"Oh...." Twilight said, "I didn't realize you'd be too big for the door, hang on for a bit." She ran inside and came back out a few minutes later, "I'll see if I can make the door bigger," her horn started glowing. Wait, she has a horn? he hadn't paid much attention to her while they were talking so never really noticed she was a unicorn, what next, Pegasi? The door was now enlarged so it was just big enough for him to fit in without crouching, now he just had to wait for Twilight to get back with her friends.
