All Because Of The New Speakers

Tavy's Party.

Outside his house, Vinyl paced back and forth. 'Where are they?!' He needed to be at a party in- he checked his watch -fifteen minutes. He wasn't the most punctual pony in all of Equestria. But he'd been waiting all morning for his speakers to arrive. Ever since that party two weeks ago- the one that he had allowed himself to drink far too much cider -he refused to make an appearance at any parties until he got his new speakers. The ones that should have arrived thirty minutes ago. He wasn't incredibly famous, but he did get a lot of requests and had a fair amount of fans. Sometime's he'd wake up in the afternoon to school-mares waiting at his doorstep. Or, on rare occasions, they would be trying to break into his home to stare at him while he slept.

Ever since that had happened, he and Octavia, a good friend and old roommate, practically barricaded all entrances except for the front door.

Another four minutes and thirty seven seconds of waiting, Vinyl saw two pegasi in the distance. They were coming with his speakers. "Thank goodness." He breathed. He relaxed and finally stopped his pacing. When the two finally made it over to him he was able to see one of the ponies was cross-eyed, had a grayish-blue coat and a blonde mane. The other was all brown, including his eyes.

"Delivery pony! Here ya' go sir!" The brown pegasus said, landing and setting the speaker he held, lightly on the ground. He pushed it closer to Vinyl with his head. "Sorry it took so long. We had an," He paused to look at his pegasus companion, who had landed beside them with her speaker. She hadn't landed as gracefully as the first pegasus, but the speaker was unharmed. "accident along the way." The mares ears flattened against her head, and her eyes fell to the ground. Frowning, Vinyl stared at her. His chest tightened, and a light formed behind her as everything around them disappeared. Her mane blew in the soft breeze, and she looked up to him.

"Hello Vinyl." She smiled, "Vinyl. Vinyl Scratch!" Coming out of his daze, Vinyl yelped at the brown hoof waving in his face.

"What?" He looked away from the mare and to the brown stallion.

"Sorry. You kinda zoned out for a minute there. I was tryin' to get ya' back to normal."

"O-oh! Thanks." Vinyl stammered, and looked back to the mare. She wasn't the prettiest mare he'd ever seen, but for some reason, he found her extremely attractive. There was something about her. He didn't know her at all. But he officially liked her. "I'm just glad to see my speakers, ya'know? Plus, makes it all the better that I get to see such a beautiful mare and a strong stallion delivering them."

"Ah, shucks." The brown pegasus chuckled, and the mare attempted to hide a blush. "Well I have to say, it really made my day when I was asked to accompany Ditzy here, and visit the home of the Vinyl Scratch. Or DJ PON-3. I have all your records. I'm a big fan. Here," he rummaged through his bag, but Vinyl wasn't paying attention. He was staring at the mare again; Ditzy. The name repeated itself in his head and gave him shivers. 'Ditzy. How unique. I like it.' He grinned. He really liked it. "Excuse me." The brown hoof waved in his face again, pulling his intense gaze at Ditzy away and over to the brown pegasus. "Yeah. Well, I was just wondering if you could sign this paper here. It's for my- my- mom!"

"Your mom?" Vinyl raised in eyebrow as he took the pen and note book from the brown stallion who had been holding it out to him. "What's her name?"

"Packer." He chirped.

"Packer?" Vinyl repeated. He shrugged and scribbled down 'For Packer, a radical, awesome, and loyal fan ~DJ PON-3' "Hope she likes it." He said absently, glancing back to Ditzy, who was still looking at the ground.

"She'll love it! Thank you! C'mon Ditzy." The brown pegasus took to the sky, and Ditzy followed after him. "Oh my Celstia." The brown pegasus could still be heard as they flew off. "I can't believe he actually thought I was gonna give it to my mom!"

It was well passed midnight when Vinyl had finally packed up and started to leave the party. It was another one of that pink mares parties; Pinkie Pie. He knew her well. He attended a lot of her parties. She was a wild one, that was for sure. "Thanks for coming!" The hyper pink mare said as Vinyl walked out the front door of Sugar Cube Corner. "Come back if you need anything!" She leaned in close, "Anything about lo~ove." She said in a hushed voice, extending the 'o' in the word 'love'. She continued to sing 'love' even as Vinyl was well away from her. When she finally stopped, he turned around to see the door to Sugar Cube Corner was closed and there were no other ponies in sight.

"Thank goodness. She was starting to give me the-"

"Love!" Vinyl screamed as the pink mare popped out of nowhere and pounced him. "Come back because of love!" She called after him when he'd gotten up and made a run for it back to his house.

"I'm sorry. I just don't know what went wrong." Ditzy apologized, bowing her head. Vinyl waved his hoof dismissively.

"It doesn't matter, darling." He said, taking Ditzy in his arms.

"Oh DJ PON-3-"

"Shh." Vinyl hushed, pressing a hoof to her lips. He leaned in for a kiss, and just as their lips were about to meet-

"VINYL!" Octavia whacked him over the head with a piano book. "Are you even listening? You don't look like you're listening." The force she used to smack him made him fall forward from his place on her stage and fall face first into the plush, beige carpet.

"I'm listening! You were talking about.... that thing, that you did. And you were breathing and stuff." It was obvious he hadn't actually been listening. He got up off the ground, dusted his shoulder off and readjusted his glasses.

"Uh-huh. That's what I thought." Vinyl had never daydreamed. Though he had found himself doing a lot of things he'd never done before. And it all started a week ago, when Ditzy and the strange brown pegasus had come and delivered his speakers. He'd never had anypony on his mind for so long! Yet Ditzy refused to escape his thoughts. Even at night when he slept, he dreamed of her. "I'm going to a party tonight. And as much as I don't  want to, it's required we bring a guest that does music." Octavia sighed. "If you can call what you do music." She muttered. Vinyl grinned, and for a split second as he took this chance to tease his best friend, Ditzy left his mind.

"Awe. And you wanna bring lil' ol' me? How sweet. I think somepony has a soft spot for DJ PON-3." He waggled his eyebrows suggestively and batted his eyelashes.

"It's not even like that!" Octavia gave him a disgusted look and shoved him away. "You're the only pony I know that works with music. So," She jabbed at his chest with her right hoof, "you come on time." She leaned in, "You look nice." She leaned in further. "You're going to be polite." Their foreheads were pressed together. "And you're going to be nice to the other guests." She poked his chest again. "You got that!"

Vinyl gulped, and on the inside was extremely worried and slightly intimidated by this. But on the outside, he smiled and kept a casual stature. "Got it!" He trotted to the door. "I'll be there! When is it?"

"Tonight at eight'o'clock." She narrowed her eyes with suspicion.

"Okay! I'll see you then. Bye Tavy!" He waved and left out the door of his friends house.
