It was another normal day and Canterlot and the new and young Princess Twilight Sparkle was trotting in the Street Market giving out flowers to all the little children playing in the streets. Not paying attention, Twilight ran into a stallion. "EEK!" she shrieked. Flowers and books fell everywhere. Upset that his books had fallen, the stallion shouted, "Hey! Watch where your goi-." He stopped talking and stared at Twilight. He started to stutter. "Oh my goodness! I- I'm s- so sorry! I didn't mean to- I just- I-I-...s-sorry!" "It's okay sir. It was an accident, not that you did it because it was my fault." Twilight replied. The two ponies became quiet and just stared a each other. Twilight broke the silence and said, " Sir I have to go. Please excuse me, and sorry for my blunder." "Not a problem at all. Um, have a good day!" he replied. "Thank you sir!" Twilight thanked him. Twilight and the stallion left.
Twilight visited a few friends she knew in Canterlot like Dr. Whooves, and Octavia. Daydreaming, Twilight came home to her castle and was given a cheerful welcome from her daughter Nyx. "Mommy! Mommy! Your home!" Nyx exclaimed. "Mommy, Princess Celestia says your late!" Twilight quickly snapped out of her daydreaming and quickly told Nyx to get ready to go. She had forgotten about the Royal Meeting. Every royalty she knew was going to be there. Princess Celestia, Princess Luna, Princess Cadence, Prince Shining Armor (her brother), and a special guest who no pony knew. She and Nyx flew to the train station and head off to the Crystal Empire. "OOOH! SHINY!" Nyx exclaimed when they got there. They got off the train and walked into the meeting room. The walked inside to see smiling faces. (Except Princess Celestia for she was upset Twilight was late.)
"Sorry that I'm late everypony!" Twilight mentioned."It's okay!" They said. "Eh." Replied Princess Celestia. Celestia only does that when she is upset, so Twilight knew she was disappointed with her, so she didn't talk to her right then. Princess Cadence stepped up from her seat and welcomed the 5 ponies. "Hello ponies! Thank you for coming to this meeting. It is VERY important." The group of royalty replied back with a simple "Good evening." Just at that moment, two ponies walked through the door. Princess Cadence announced,"Ponies, this is Queen Saturn Eclipse, and her son, Midnight Shimmer." The ponies walked up them and welcomed them to the meeting. Everyone was up except Twilight (and her daughter Nyx). Twilight was confused. Why was she confused? She was confused because Midnight looked just like the pony she saw in the Street Market. Also, when she looked back at him, he was an Alicorn! Twilight could not believe her eyes! She had seen alot of Alicorns before, but not one of them was a boy! Dazed in her own imagination Twilight wasn't paying attention until the stallion she saw hours ago sat right next to her. She didn't know what to do. Should she say hi? Should she leave?
Then Twilight remembered what her pal Pinkie Pie back in Ponyville used to tell her. She imagined Pinkie's voice in her head. "When you meet a new friend Twilight, just say hi and sooner or later, you'll be having a HUGE conversation with him! Or her. I'm not sure...It doesn't matter! Heehee *snort* *snort*." Twilight was just about to say hello to him just when she was interpreted by a question. The question was asked by Queen Saturn Eclipse. "Twilight dear, you DO understand don't you?" Twilight thought for a minute. "What where they talking about?" Then she just plainly replied. "Yes, mam." with a smile on her face. Then the Queen replied to Twilight, " Ohoho! Thank you dear! We will be staying at the castle starting tonight. I'm so glad you and the two older Princesses understand." Twilight was discombobulated. She had no idea what was going on. So she decided just to let it go. She looked at Princess Celestia. She was smiling at Twilight. She could tell that Princess Celestia was pleased with Twilight. The meeting became finished a few hours later. Nyx was asleep on Twilight's back. Everyone was tired and went home.
Princess Celestia stopped Twilight. "I'm really proud of you Twilight. Queen Saturn and Midnight have been having a hard time since the war has started." What war were they talking about? Twilight didn't want to get into trouble so she just nodded. The ponies left and headed to the train station. Midnight sat next to Twilight again. This was her chance. Twilight opened her mouth to say hello, but words didn't come out. She tried again. Nothing. Then Midnight turned to her and smiled. "Hey Twilight, thanks for letting us stay at your castle. It really is great." Twilight shyly replied to him. "Oh! No problem! Um so, about the war..." When midnight heard that word his smile turned into an angry look. "Oh I'm sorry I didn't mean to make you upset." Twilight mentioned. Midnight stopped his angry look and tried to smile (but it was obvious that he kinda was stuck with the angry face.) "It's not your fault Twilight. It's just that word reminds me of my mom and dad. Can you keep a secret?" Twilight's face turned into a slight grin. "Yeah! Sure!" So Midnight whispered in Twilight's ear. "No pony knows this, but Queen Saturn isn't my REAL mom. My mother and father died trying to protect me from the war." Twilight looked shocked. "Oh my goodness! Do you feel fine about that?" Midnight replied," It's okay Twilight. It happened when I was 5 so I don't really remember." The ponies rode home to the castle and finally got there. Twilight fell asleep in her room with Nyx next to her. Midnight and his step mom slept in two separate guest rooms. And Princess Celestia and Princess Luna slept in their rooms.
