My Little EVE: Capsules Are Magic

After the collapse of the EVE Gate New Eden was thrown into a great age of darkness. Cut off from the lands that supplied them many colonies died out, but those that survived would once again rise up and humanity would take up its place with the stars again. From these colonies several great nations were born. The Caldari, the Amarr, the Minmatar, the Gallente, and the Jove.

The Jove began to meddle with bioengineering. They began to genetically modify out every impurity their bodies had, and after several generations they reached the core of their being. They tapped into and began modifying their basic human instincts, and the result was no less than a sentence of extinction. Though they are not quite extinct yet all Jovians eventually are afflicted with the Jovian Disease. It causes a crippling depression resulting in an inescapable loss of the will to live. Once it sets in the victim stops eating and drinking and sccumbs to dehydration. Despite the crippling disease they all carry the Jove were able to make advances in technology that were thousands of years ahead of the other nations. It is their technological prowess that keeps all the other nations from even thinking about taking over.

The Jove were the first creators of the hydrostatic pod, and they gifted the patents to the Caldari around a century ago. It was only recently that the megacorporations discovered a link between cloning technology and the pods that was before unnoticed, and within the last decade the Capsuleer was born.

I am a Capsuleer.

Upon the breach of the walls of my pod a lethal neurotoxin is injected into my bloodstream, which stops my heart, and upon my last breath a laser penetrates my cranium and sifts through the grey matter copying all of the information present. That information is then sent to a waiting clone of me, an exact replica, that then awakens with my memories, my knowledge, perhaps even that which is my soul.
