Trouble In Equestria

Chapter 1

~Discord~

"Focus Twilight, you can do this!" Spike tried to reassure Twilight.

"I'm trying!" panted the little lavender mare as she tried to master a new spell she had been working on for some time now, but she couldn’t make the last step. "I just can't do it Spike! I’m going to go outside, because I really need some fresh air, as well as time to figure out, why exactly it didn’t work." Twilight mumbled as she walked out the door. Twilight’s mind was completely focused on why her spell hadn’t worked and she didn’t pay the slightest attention to her surroundings. Her thoughts unfortunately came to an end as she crashed into somepony.

"Oh I'm so sorry Twilight! I was chasing after Angel and I guess I wasn't paying attention to where I was going and oh please don't be mad!" Fluttershy squeaked as she picked herself up from the ground.

"It's okay Fluttershy", Twilight shoved her thoughts away and put on a warm smile, while responding to the shyest pony from Ponyville, "I'm not mad."

"Oh that's good," Fluttershy said with a look of relief. "So um... what are you doing out here Twilight? Did you lose something?" Fluttershy was always concerned for other ponies, but for one of her best friends, an extra bit of care was needed.

"I think the only thing I might be losing is my mind!" muttered Twilight as she gingerly shook her head.

"Why do you say that Twilight?" Fluttershy stepped closer, making sure not to make Twilight's frustration escalate.

"Well I'm having trouble with a spell and every time I try it, my vision gets blurry and my horn just gives out!" This was, indeed, a frustrating experience for one of the most, if not the most talented unicorn of all of Equestria. She didn’t enjoy the personal treating by Princess Celestia herself for nothing.

"Well what's that spell for?" Fluttershy asked.

"It's a spell that takes your basic traits such as strength, agility as well as cunning, and increases it." Twilight said as they walk down the street through Ponyville.

"Oh, what would you need that spell for?"

"Spike wanted it so he could 'protect' Rarity from danger", Twilight said rolling her eyes, "It's more about the challenge of doing it, rather than getting the result."

"Well where are you practicing this spell?" Fluttershy asked with a smile.

"I did it in my Library where I practice all my spells." Twilight was confused by this. Why would Fluttershy know anything about magic, or rather suitable as well as necessary preferences?

"Well maybe you should try doing it outside where there is more space and fresh air, maybe changing your routine could lead to better results." Fluttershy shyly said.

"Hey, maybe you’re right Fluttershy! I never thought about doing that!" Twilight quickly did some calculations in her head. "Eureka! The magic would flow with nature which would create a greater harmony with the pony." Twilight turned to Fluttershy and gave her a big hug. "Fluttershy, you're a genius." The yellow shy pegasus who never could handle compliments could feel her own cheeks growing hotter, and with that knowledge the embarrassment caused her to turn even more crimson.

"I'm glad I could be a help Twilight, now if you'll excuse me I must go find Angel now." and with that Fluttershy flew off in search of her rabbit.

Twilight ran as fast as she could back to her house and busted through the door panting," SPIKE!!" yelled Twilight as she struggled to catch her breath "Come on Spike we've got to go! I think I might know how to make the spell work!" Twilight grabbed her bag and put her spell-book in it.

"Where are we going Twilight?!" Spike asked.

"We are going to the Canterlot Sculpture Garden." Twilight said with a gleam in her eye.

"Why are we going there Twilight?' asked Spike.

"Because what the spell lacked was a greater harmony with the magic that is all around us. The barrier that protects the library from lightning storms and such could have inhibited my ability to cast the spell." Spike nodded, in theory that could have been the problem.

"We're going to the Canterlot Sculpture Garden because that area is flowing with magic, it'll be far easier for me to cast the spell there." Spike hopped onto Twilight's back, and she ran out the door and teleported herself and her little dragon friend to the Equestria famous Canterlot Sculpture Garden. As soon as they arrived at the Garden, Twilight opened up her spell book and almost immediately got to work, unknowingly stopping a few feet near a statue, a prison cell of one of Equestria's most dangerous enemies, Discord.

"Okay are you ready Spike?" Twilight asked.

"Yes, I'm ready." ‘Don't worry Rarity, I'll be strong enough to protect you soon’, Spike thought to himself.

"Alright here goes nothing!" and with that Twilight stomped her hooves on the ground and twitched her tail. She closed her eyes and tried to concentrate on the spell. A bead of sweat streamed down her face. She began to pant and her horn was glowing with an immense amount of light. It was so bright Spike had to cover his eyes from the blinding light. Just then a giant gust of wind blew into Twilight's face and a spark lit on her horn as she slowly started to rise into the air with a magical aura surrounding her. The higher she rose, the brighter her horn got.

"You can do it Twilight! Focus!" Spike yelled.

"I'M TRYING!" Twilight struggled to yell, trying hard not to lose focus. And with a loud crack, something that happens only so many times, a bolt of lightning hit Twilight on her flank and a giant beam of light shot out of her horn and hit the Discord statue. Spike turned around only to see the beam of light hurdling towards him at an amazing speed after bouncing off the Discord statue.The beam hit Spike's forehead and his eyes lit up.Twilight fell to the ground only to hear the sounds of Spike whining. Twilight trotted over to Spike.

"Spike!! Oh my goodness are you okay? Spike?" Twilight nudged Spike over and over again.

"uuuuuh" groaned Spike. " Twa-Twa-Twilight? Is that you?" Twilight's eyes lit up with relief.

"Yes Spike!! It's me! Are you okay?" Twilight asked.

"I-I think so, what has happened up there?" Just then Rainbow Dash and Derpy Hooves came down from the sky and landed next to Twilight and Spike.

"Twilight? Spike? What are you guys doing here?" Rainbow asked.

"I could ask you the same question", She looked over to her grey companion, she was looking at the ground, or at least with one eye, "were you guys-"

"Sorry about that Twilight, me and Derpy were practicing some new weather procedures that the weather team from Canterlot wanted to share and Derpy here made a storm cloud on accident." explained Rainbow Dash as Derpy went to tears.

"I'm sorry Twilight I just don't know what went wrong!!" Derpy said.

"It's alright Derpy. Nobody was hurt, and I think I managed to cast the spell correctly. So it's thanks to you that I finally casted that spell." Twilight gave Derpy a big hug and then Pinkie Pie appeared out of the bushes and said "This calls for a Pinkie Pie super duper extra special PARTY!!! YAY!!" Everypony laughed, knowing that asking why Pinkie Pie was there would be just pointless. And with that, they went off towards home.

Night had fallen upon the Garden. All was at peace, except for the statue of the Agent of Chaos. His stone prison, was shattering. And with a loud thunderous explosion, Discord was free from his prison and had one thing on his mind. To bring eternal chaos to Equestria.
