//-------------------------------------------------------// Time's camera -by maelstrom21- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// chapter one: departure //-------------------------------------------------------// chapter one: departure "Goodbye father. Keep the family safe. Love you." I said to him as I trotted off, away from home. I knew that the possibilities of seeing him again were very low. I knew that I would have to live my life using my skills and abilities. I didn't know how hard the times ahead of me were going to be. "Goodbye, my son. May the wisdom of the past guide you through hard times ahead. I love you to." He yelled back to me. He knew that I would encounter hard times. He had told my that I would be tested. I just didn't truly understand. "Wow. On my own. The whole world is below my hooves. Where to go, where to go?" I pondered as I reached into my saddle bags that my father had given me. He told me his father gave him these bags and he wore them when he was adventuring. These bags held more memories than my father does. And now they are mine, and my memories shall become part of it as well. I took out the map of equestria. I had started at my house just outside of manehatten. I say started as in left. In fact, I'm still in watching distance from my house. My dad's probably spying on me through the window. I sprawled out the map on a log that had fallen over a few weeks ago. The closest place is canterlot. My father has strictly told me not to go there. There was too many ponies there that could sense the presence of the camera. That only makes me want to go even more. Better to stick to the safe side just in case though. Next best place is cloudsdale. Sounds more like a pegasus city to me. You might be wondering why I wouldn't know if it was or not, but my father wouldn't teach me much about geography. He wanted me to discover the world on my own. If I take the train, I might be able to get to a place called ponyville. Seems rather small on the map. Oooo! It borders the everfree forest. I've heard so much but I have never actually seen it. I rolled up the map and carefully shoved it back into the saddle bags. Now with a destination in mind, I can be on my way. Beginning to trot off towards the city I can take in my surrounding. Nice warm air. Nice cool breeze brushing past the trees as it moves on. A perfect day for a new adventure. Trotting into the great city of manehatten, I saw many different colors of ponies and species. There were shops and markets and giant buildings all over the place. It's so amazing what we have accomplished as such a small and, well, two thirds powerless species. In the sky, I could see some pegasus having some sort of game while crashing into clouds. I've always envied the pegasus, flying around and having a whale of a time. This makes me feel even worse knowing that earth ponies don't have flight, nor magic. I wouldn't know though, they seem to be happy. Though in my family, if you were to be born as an earth pony or pegasus, you would be considered a burden more than a pony. "Only unicorns get to carry the family sword." they would say. I don't even like the sword. It's all rusty and brown. I don't know. My family is just a bit crazy. This camera doesn't help much for our sanity anyways. It's actually what started this whole family line- "Oof! Hey watch where you going!" A grumpy old pony said to me when I had bumped into him. He was right though, I should have been watching my step instead of watching these pegasus. "Sorry!" I yelled back to him as he grumbled and kept walking. I don't know how long I was staring up there but I seem to be here already. train station is right around the corner. I trotted up the ramp that led into a building where I signed for a train ride and bought a ticket. "One ticket to ponyville please." I had said to the mare behind the desk. "That will be 30 bits sir. Next train arrives in two hours. Have a good day." The mare said to me, handing me a ticket in exchange for my bits. I could tell that it was her job to be nice and polite, but the look on her face betrayed her voice and suggested that she just really didn't want to be there. No matter. I now have two hours to spare. Two hours. Hrmph. I guess I could practice a few spells. Dad always said to practice my spells when I have nothing else to do. Basic levitation is a breeze, although I have found it to be one of the most useful. I would practice advanced levitation, like lifting myself up or a boulder, but for some reason, it makes people really uncomfyable. My dad told me that each pony in our family, even though we were in some weird cult or something and pledged ourselves to the camera, Had a special talent that involved magic. My dad had the special ability of size. He could change the shape and density of anything. When I wouldn't eat my vegetables, He would crush them into a ball and shove it down my throat. I quickly stopped denying them and ate my vegies from then on. Getting something forced down your throat is a lot worse than their taste alone. I, however, have taken to the bending of light. Not as much uses as my dad's abilities but it is still really cool. When I got my cutie mark, My parents were confused because there was nothing there. They took me to the doctor when I was getting old for not having anything yet and the doctor said that I did have my cutie mark, It was just not visible. My cutie mark represents invisibility. They would always call me names in school like Blank flank, and as we got older,Glass ass. So I got out some balls from my sack and laid them down onto the ground. I began to focus my energy onto one of the balls. I could feel the energy from the ball. It's feelings, It's fears. It's regrets. Not much knowledge was really gained from these areas though. I focused my energy on wrapping it in my mind, locking it's knowledge outside of reality. Now until I give it permission, it will stay invisible. Lonely in its own thoughts of the void outside of this universe. At least, thats how I would explain it. It is a lot simpler than it sounds. In my head, I'm just yelling NO. To bring it back, I think YES. Seems pretty simple to me but most unicorns seem to struggle with this area of magic that I can do easily. Thats why it is so hard to find a sexual partner in this world. Not much unicorn's special abilities are based on planely magic. Back to reality, A fun thing to do is to mess with ponies by throwing invisble stuff at them. It confuses the hell out of them. I can never lose the stuff I throw either because of the psychic link I have connected to them. Speaking of throwing stuff. That pony over there on the bench waiting for the train looks like a fun victim. Pick up and... THROW! "Gahh! What was that?!?" I had to hide my chuckles by looking away and pretending to be playing with my balls. He shot his head back and forth looking for the assailant "You there. Did you throw something at me?!" "What? No. I'm just playing with my balls." I said to him with my calmest voice and poker face. I'm not sure if he bought it though. I picked up the invisible ball to throw it again when the train pulls up at the station. I thought the mare at the desk said it was going to be two hours.. I quickly think 'Yes' and stuff it sneakily into my bags. The train comes to a slow stop and the conductor walks out holding a pocket watch. "Alright ponies. 20 minutes." I grab my saddle bags off the bench, throw them over my back and trot aboard, showing the conductor my ticket. He grabs it with his hooves and stamps it with a small stamp pad. He gives me it back and I walk into the train compartment. Goodbye manehatten. Hello everywhere else. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter two: arrival //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter two: arrival The train ride wasn't very long. Most of the time that I have nothing to do, my brain makes up wierd topics for me to think over, like: Where did magic come from? How does magic work? Why do we need a horn? Stuff like that. I sat next to a mare with her daughter. the daughter kept looking at me, so I showed her a few magic tricks with approvel from the mare of course. I just love to see kids smile. It makes me feel like I know what I am doing. When I got off, I walked out into the middle of a small market area. There  were not any skyscrapers or paved roads or concrete stuff. It was all so small and yet still, so beautiful. In the distance I could see an apple farm sprawled upon acres. There were brown, white, and yellow houses with some buildings that held spice for what there business was for. As I walked down the road, I saw a big boutique and a big business with a chocolate roof and a cupcake on top. There were alot of ponies outside, walking about, getting their products and produce from the local venders. Some venders sold the wierdest things. One vender I saw was selling giant jars and vats of jelly. Who would need that much jelly? They must make alot of toast here. As I trotted out of the market area, I saw this big place that seemed to be a hollowed out tree. I was drawn towards that place. It had a feeling that my dad had told me about, orbiting it. You know that feeling where you feel like somepony's following you? My family had innate sence towards those kinds of things. Something to do with our bloodline and magic and some other wierd stuff. I felt like I had to go to that place. I went up to it and knocked on the door. I waited for an answer. Took a minute but I could hear voices from inside. The door opened and in front of me was a lavender unicorn standing in the doorway. "Hello?" She said politely. Actually politely this time. Not like the mare at the train station. "Umm. Hello. I was wandering through town when I saw this place and... I felt like... Can I come in?" I told her, not able to find a good reason to have knocked on the door. "Sure. My door's always open." Must not be any normal hollowed out tree. Because hollowed out trees are normal. Most ponies would just close the door on you in manehatten. "Thank you." I said as I walked into the tree and saw that it was filled with books. What a perfect place for books. cut the wood out of the tree and make books. It's a give or take situation I guess. "So what are you looking for. Magic, history, fiction. I have it all." She asked me, thinking I was here for a book. "What? Oh. This is a library. Uh. I could learn some magic. Do I need to get a card or have a date assigned for return?" Most libraries make you get a card or something. "No. No cards. No date. Just return it when you are done." She told me with a gleeful tone. I'm starting to like this one. I went over to the wall of books that she pointed towards to be the wall of magic. I searched through, looking for something on bending light. Nothing seemed to come up. Nothing ever comes up. I stood up and looked back at the mare. She was sorting through some note card that she pulled out of a desk drawer. I stared at her before looking at her cutie mark. Sparkle? Are those stars? I can't really tell. "Hello? Miss?" I was interupted before I could ask. "Please, call me twilight sparkle." She told me. I like that name. She must be a stargazer. "Right. Twilight sparkle, What is your special talent? If you don't mind me asking." Not something I would normaly ask a pony without even knowing them but it's too late now. She turned around towards me to address my question. "My special talent is magic. Not specificly, but just magic. What would be your... special... talent?" She responded appropriately, slowing down to notice that I had no cutie mark. "Do you not have a... special talent?" "What do you mean? Oh thats right. Glass ass." I started to say to my self in a quiet voice that could barely be heard. "Glass what?" "Um, nothing. I do actually have a cutie mark. It's just not there. My special talent is invisibility magic. Now what would that cutie mark look like?" I asked back with a grin on my face. Though she looked like she was thinking over it. "You don't have to answer that." "Why do you ask?" She started, trying to keep the conversation going. Social chats have never been my strong point.. "Uh. I don't know. I just noticed your cutie mark and was curious what it was. I'm not really sure how to LOOK at magic, but that looks like magic to me." I tried to make that sound good. Was that good? I'm not sure what magic looks like. I guessed that it may have been the sparkles left behind after a teleport. "Yeah. It's just magic sparkles. I got it when the princess asked me to be her personal protege. I can still remember it like it was yesterday." From that. I was astonished. She must be One of the best spell casters in equestria. Why is she stuck here living in this tree then. Not saying that this is a bad tree. I see a future mate in this one. Kinda sounds bad. I haven't even been traveling for a day and I'm already thinking about getting a mate. It's not my falt. It is my family duty to... create an even more magical and powerful offspring than myself. Back to astonished. I can't believe this. But can she back it up. Now I have to see what she can do. "Well. That's quite impressive miss sparlkes. Not just anypony can be a protege of the princess. But tell me, can you back that up with proof." "How do you mean? I have letters from the princess. They have her signature on them. I can get one and show you." She thought that I meant physical proof. I actually wanted magical proof. When it comes to magic, I am like butter on toast. "No. I would like to have a magical duel with you. The loser has to teach the other pony something that they don't know how to do. Invisibility is my specialty but it isn't my only spell."  I really hope she is up for it. She lives in a library. There is a high possibility that she likes to learn new magic. As do I. "I don't know, I'm not much of a competitor. Though I would like to learn some new spells. Plus, I have never seen invisibility. Could be pretty cool." When she started, I was worried that she would back out. But now I think she is in. "So are you in?! Are you going to beat me." I tried a little pep talk. I think it worked. right before she spoke up, she got a big smile. "Yeah. I feel like I could have a dual. Lets do this!" Yesss! I knew she was in. I could see it in her smile. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter three: dual //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter three: dual We trotted out side of the tree house. I don't know what it is, but this tree seems to be more interesting to me than the owner. Come on Glass Ass, focus on miss sparkles over here, not the tree. She led me to an area behind the house that didn't have any houses or buildings around it. The ground was earthy as of the area around that was covered with grass. A perfect place for us to ravish the land without harming anything important. I can only assume that we would ravish the land. I am really hoping that she can ravish the land. Celestia better of taught her some ravishing spells. That kinda came out wrong. "You stand over there by that tree and I will stand at the opposite end by that mushroom. Is this a good area?" She asked me. I felt like she had done this before. I can't really doubt it can I. "Yeah, this is perfect. Nice open area. Who starts first?" We both looked over at each other waiting for someone to do something. We stared for about two minutes before we realised that nopony was going to do anything. She spoke first, I was ready to counter act anything she would throw at me, so I joilted with readiness but did not need to. "We could flip horns or wings. I have a few bits in my saddle bags." The most efficient way to find out who goes first. I hadn't even noticed that she had the bags on. I still have mine on too. I guess she wanted to even the odds. She doesn't know what's in here. She probably thinks that I have tricks in here. She would be right in her assumption. "I call wings. I like wings. Sometimes I wish I had them to know what it is like to fly but then I would have never got the camera. That would suck because my parents would have had to make another child and I would be cast down upon. My brother or sister would probably tease me for not getting to be the holder. Life would have been-" "Um. Excuse me. But uh, what are you talking about? I would like to get started. I have alot of work to do when this is over." She stopped me. Thank goodness, I was giving away information that should only be told to my wife and children. "Duh. Buh. Uh... Sorry. I get a little carried away sometimes. Anyway, I choose wings. Come on flip. Flip. Lets go." Flip! I am digging myself a grave again. Though even on a rant, I still chose. Everypony knows that wings always lose. "Okay." She said as she dug into her saddle bags to get a bit. I can tell that I look crazy. She had rolled her eyes before she looked away. She pulled out a shiny bit from her bag and flipped it into the air. She looked up to see it flip and as it fell, you could feel the tension in the air. It hit the ground and bounced around until it ultimately ended up on, who would have guessed, wings. Flip! I'm not sure where to start. I could throw a ball at her while it is invisible. Yeah, yeah. Start with something simple. Then slowly work your way onto harder spells. I just don't want to have to use experimental spells. Lets just hope they work if I do. I walked back slowly to my spot as I reached into my bag of mystical wimsy and pulled out the ball, making sure that she could see it come out. When I got to my spot, I turned around and held the ball into the gleaming sun light. I tried to make it look as cool as I could. "Show me what you got, miss Sparkles." I said in a sly tone just before I slammed the ball into the ground, Pulling my hoof up to show that the ball was gone. BONK! The ball appeared above her out of thin air and bounced into her head. The ball then bounced away and fell into a hole. "Gahh! What the? Oh. Nice one." She wasn't expecting that. Not much but it can really confuse most other ponies. "Try this." She said as her horn glowed. Here it comes! She pulled the ball out of the hole and moved it over my head. I would expect a little more but what can you do. Instead of getting hit by a small ball, I was suddenly pelted by twenty of the things. Duplication. Not to bad. I myself am not the best at it, but if she loses, maybe she can teach me a little more at that. "Hrmph. That was a little unexpected" I told to her as I secretly turned one of the balls invisible as they bounced away, hoping she wouldn't notice the disappearance. Another cool thing about invisibility is that I can make it so that my horn doesn't have any glow. When I first tried to mess with ponies, I was caught because of my glow, so I worked out how to make it disapear. The trick is that you never give permission for the glow to... well... glow. "But be aware, for expectations can decieve the brightest of ponies." I figured that I would use one of the very first spells that I have ever learned on her. My dad taught me this one. I grew the ball to be much more massive and chucked it at her head. directly onto the horn, but right before, I gave the ball light to scare her, making sure that there was not enough time for her to react. POP! The ball exploded with a much louder pop than I had anticipated. "Eeeee! Sweet celestia! You nearly gave me a heart attack! *hufff huff* Wow. That came out of nowhere. How did you? Never mind. That's for you to teach me when you lose." That was when her horn began to glow. This wasn't just any normal spell. She was standing there, focusing all her might on this spell. I think I might have to step up my game. She was gripping the ground with her hooves. Not quite sure how. She was digging into the ground a little to stable herself. That is when the overglow appeared. Things are getting pretty intense. I'm starting to believe that she might move the sun or cause an earthquake. Her eyes are closed. She is starting to scare me. I lose focus of her for a moment when I realise that her horn is encased with over glow and the ground around her is rumbling; rocks and dirt clumps rising from the ground. earthquake maybe? Suddenly, it feels like time has stopped and her eyes open. There is no pupil or color or anything. I think that she has gone into god mode. Welp, life has been pretty good so far, though the camera may be lost and my ancestors lives will have been for nothing. I'm sorry to have disapointed. A beam of pure magic shoots straight at me. My life flashes before my eyes. I close them and wait for my impending doom. Nothing. I here nothing. There is no sound. No smell. No fealing. I think that I have died. Kind of sucks. Now I will be pestered by my ancestors for the rest of eternity. Heaven, My glass ass. All I see is white cloud. As I walk along, I realise what I had to look forward to in life. A family. Happiness. Friends. For all my life, I have only known my own family. My mother and father. This twilight sparkle was my gateway. A stairwell to friendship and love. At least that was what I thought. That pony takes friendly duals way too far. Maybe it seemed like I was threatening her. Hey! I'm just some random pony walking in with out a cutie mark! Don't mind me, I just want to have a friendly battle of strength and power! I can see where that would be taken the wrong way. So this is death. Beep! Kind of lonely. Beep! Just me and some clouds. Beep! I could finally get the chance to Beep! have some time to get carried away. Beep! What is that damn beeping?!? Beep! Wait. That sounds an awful lot like a heart rate monitor. Beep! Oh my glob. Beep! I'm alive! Beep! Just... Beep! Unconscious. Beep! Wake. Beep! Up. Beep! "Doctor! His heart rate is going alot faster!" I heard a voice. It's Sparkles! I'm going to kill her when I get up. *Loud gasp* *Huff Huff* I sat up in my bed, gasping for air. "Duh! Buh! Guh!" I started with exasperation while still trying to breathe. "Sparkles! I'm... Going... To... kill-OOH! what's this." I felt a tingling feel on my face right above my mouth. I reached up with my hoof, ignoring the I.V.'s in my arm. I feel a... mustache! Handle bar nontheless. She watched in confusion as I stroked my 'stache. Getting back to the important. I scoot myself to rest my back on the pillow and we stared at one another."So." I began awkwardly. "You didn't kill me. What did you do to me? Why do I have a handle bar? not saying I don't like it. How do I look with it? Answer that one first." She just stared back at me for a moment with what looked like concern, but I'm not really sure. "Uh. You like fine. Certainly acting fine. Uh. Well. I was casting a spell on you that makes you grow a mustache. The perfect mustache. Though the whole epic thing was just to scare you, I didn't think that I would actually give you a heart attack. You just stood there standing with your eyes closed and then fell over. I ran over to see what was wrong when I checked you pulse. But there was no pulse. I teleported us to the hospital and you were taken under immediate care. I'm so so so so sorry. I didn't know you would die from growing a mustache." With that, I just layed back and let my mind wander. //-------------------------------------------------------// chapter four: night //-------------------------------------------------------// chapter four: night I feel like a baby. I asked to dual. I was confidant. I fainted, well, died for a moment. I lost. Now I have to teach her something. I do not want teach her invisibility. As it is my specialty, I want to be the best at it. I know that if I teach her, she will practice and get better. She is the protege of a god. She will get better than me. I don't want to be worse than her. I train for my life and I lose what's most important to me. Though I am bound by my promise to teach her what she asks about. please don't ask me about invisibility. "Hey blue pony. I'm not sure if this means I win, but having a heart attack is kind of like surendering." She started at me after a few minutes of me thinking of what had happened or may happen. She said blue pony. If she asks for a name, I can tell her... uh... Glass. That name is stuck with me till the day I die anyway. And that day was almost today. "I think we both can agree that you lost. Now I get to decide what you teach me." Here it comes. don't say invisibility. "When you hit me with that big ball and it popped, you didn't pick it up or anything. It just appeared there. Your horn wasn't glowing. How did you do that?" Welp. Shit. "I thought I already told you that I could do invisibility." This one is odd. She pays all attention when it matters but when it doesn't, she has no memory. Maybe I'm just misunderstanding this. "You did, yes. But in order to make your glow invisible, you must cast a spell to make it invisible. I want to know the ceramics of invisibility." Pffffff. She is persistant. And observant. I'm not sure if I should be annoyed by this or exited. Well, at least I can get out of the hospital. "I will tell what ever you want to know about it once we get out of this place." These blankets are itchy. The doctor came over to unplug the machines that are connected to me and take off all the I.V.'s. I was now free to leave. I got up out of bed and threw my saddle bags over my back with a slight jolt of pain. I can't believe that I had a heart attack. We both started to walk out of the hospital when the doctor came over to and stepped infront of me. "I'm sorry sir but it's hospital law that I have to walk you out of here on a wheelchair." Hrmph. Wheelchairs are super uncomfyable. *Grumble* "Yeah. Sure. Law is law is law is law, right?" The doctor pushed me outside where I could stand up and he could go back to whatever he was doing. Me and twilight started to walk down the path back to town when I realise what time it is. "Woah! it's night time. I got here in the morning. I must have been out longer than I thought." The stars are so much more clear and easy to see at this time of night in this little town. I love this place. "Yeah, well, I have to go home now. Spike's probably worried. I spent all day out at this hospital waiting for you to wake up. Where are you staying?" She asked me and I stopped walking. I didn't even have time to book a room anywhere. "Oh. Staying. I, actually, don't have anywhere to go. I was going to get a room at the inn but I died. So I didn't get a chance." I didn't even think that I would have to. I was just going to find a log to cozy up by and make a tent. "Well, ponyville doesn't have an inn. If you need a place to stay, I have a spare room in the library. You could maybe stay up a little longer and tell me how the invisibility works." Yes! this is great. I have got a mare who is asking me to sleep at her house with her. I didn't think it would- Woah! Woah! Woah! Hold on buddy. This is just a because you were not able to get another place to sleep. You're lucky you didn't have to open the hole. "That would be great. Thank you. I would have just camped outside anyway, but thank you. I hope I am not a burden." This adventure is starting out very well. I've got a friend and a nice place to stay. This is wonderful. "No. I think spike will like you. He likes mostly everyone. Besides, I have to put him to bed anyway." I hope spike likes me. Wait a minute. Who's spike? "So, is spike your... son? I didn't see him when I was there before." I had to ask her. He sounded like son material. "Well, not really. I guess you could call him my son, but we are not related in any way. I'm just taking care of him to help me in my studies and keep the place clean." That still doesn't answer my question. We kept walking through the town while we talked about the history of this town. It has been the center of two apocalyptic events so far and with possibility of more. Seems like it must be hard to live here. Finally we arrived at her house. The tree. "And then he was turned back into stone. It was pretty scary." We just finished up as we got inside. "Twilight. You have been gone all day. I didn't even get to have breakfast. I had to get some gems from Rarity." There he was. Spike was not her son. Not even a pony. Spike was a small purple dragon. I can now understand what she meant. I would guess that this is like a perk to being Celestia's protege. "I'm so sorry spike. I had given this pony a heart attack and I couldn't leave. I promise to make the best breakfast you will ever eat in the morning, but right now, you have to go to bed." Yup. She is definitely a mother. blood related or not. "What?!? But you. Nevermind. Goodnight, twilight. Goodnight, other pony." He looked at me for a moment and then walked up a staircase that was carved into the wall into a room. "Nice meeting you." I called to him as he went out of sight. I was able to catch a little mumble but not enough to understand. The room stood quiet for a moment. I looked at her and she looked back. She was the first one to speak up. "Well that's spike." She trotted past me, beconing me to follow. "Your room is right in here." She said as we walked into another room. 'Lot bigger on the inside. She lift her hoof to show an empty room. "lt doesn't have any beds or couches in it, but l can get a spare mattress from the basement" I stopped her before she could walk off. She is giving me enough already. She shouldn't have to do much more. "No, thats fine. This is a good place to start our magic talk. l've got something here that you will really love to see. I discovered this while I was messing with magic as a colt. lt's called, The Hole." I guess I will use this anyways. Just can't let her use it. lt's to painful. "Good, I couldn't think of a good way to start anyways." Neither did l. l took off my saddle bags and set them on the ground. I went to a side pocket that was only meant for the hole. Never know what could happen with pure magic. As l took it out I began to explain. Her eyes widened as l pulled it out. "When I was a colt; When I first learned light magic. I was messing around with the spells in my head when something very powerful happened. I came across a spell that only I can explain. When I tried this combination, I wasn't very powerful myself. I cast the spell, but when it got to hard to keep going, I tried to stop but couldn't. The magic was pulling it's way out of my, not by my control. It sucked so much out that I fainted. When I awoke, laying next to me, was this black hole of sorts. I went to touch it and it really, really hurt. Though my hand went through it. I felt nothingness. I took one of my practicing balls and dropped it in. It just bonced right off, not going through at all. I picked it up and tried shoving it in. This time, I only felt a little zap. It went through only when I was touching it. I dropped it and it dissapeared. When I thought that it was gone forever, I got sad. I wished that I had my ball back. Then magically, it was there. I have used it to carry my stuff for years. When I tried to throw it away. It came back. Until I figure out how it works, I can't throw it away." She sat with awe and interest as I talked on. " My tongue is hurting now. I'm going to take a little break and hear what you have to say." "That's pretty amazing if you ask me. You could store as much as you could want. Could I try using it? Do you even know where it goes?" She is a good listener. I can't let her use it though. Unless. I have an idea. "Well. I think it goes to a pocket dimension. A place between the cracks of the universe. Outside of our comprehension. I stuck my head in it once and I couldn't breathe. It was pretty scary. When I breathed out first, the air got stuck inside. Every now and then, I get a warm breeze coming out of it. Like I said before, I am the only thing that can go through it. So that means you can't go through it. With that said, if I touch anything I want to bring inside, that thing can go through. So if I hold onto your hoof while you go through, then you should be able to move freely if I let go. In theory." I have started rambling again. I should have just said 'No I don't know where it leads' and 'Sure, lets find out if you can go through it.' I hope that she doesn't mind. Her job is to collect information anyway. And so is mine. Huh. I placed it on the floor and used my hoof to call her over. She walked to me slowly with a glow of astonishment. "Now before we proceed, I must warn you that the hole can hurt on first contact. Maybe not for you because you are considered an item, but it will definitely hurt for me. With every good thing, there is a bad thing.  What it does is, it steals all of the magic from my body in order to sustain itself while I pass through. give me one moment to get it ready." I explained before we began, then stuck my hoof straight through it. A worried face struck her as I cringed in pain. It feels like you are taking the sould out of your body with a rusty old hook. It feels so painful that I could feel myself losing consiousness, again. same thing happens every time and I'm still not used to it. Suddenly, no pain. It has sucked everything out. no more magic for at least twenty minutes. *huff* *huff* "Well. should be ready now. Give me your hoof." She was hesitant. She reached out and pulled back. I took my hoff out of the hole. "Go on. It wont bite for a while. neither will I." She reaches out and allows me her hoof. I grab it above her hoof and slowy push it into the hole. When it goes through, both our faces light up with glee. Mine stayed but hers faded. "I can't feel my hoof. It fells like its not even there." he pulls out of my grasp and out of the hole. I looked in surprise as she pulled out her hoof and it wasn't there. She looked down at it without the slightest bit of surprise. "Does this happen often to you?" I asked seeming like a joke but partly serious. She looks up at me with out amusement. "Put it back." She demands. Woah woah. You don't have to get all pushy. "Give me one moment. Never done this before." I reached into the hole with the slightest little tickle. What came to mind was pillow. Took it and threw it behind us. Next was blanket. And finally twilight sparkles hoof. Of course, there it was. I pulled it out and grabbed twilights arm while sticking it on. Thankfully, it didn't fall off. "Okay. Have a good night sleep." She says to me as she walks out of the room and turns out the light. "Hey, wait." I call back but get no answer. Seemed pretty funny to me. I don't know what her problem is. I set up my little pillow and blanket bed. Snug tight, I try to fall asleep. First day and still alive. Achievement get! Now I have to think about what to do tomorrow. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter five: breakfast //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter five: breakfast The sweet smell of pancakes and eggs came peacefully trotting through the room. I would usually tie the things around me into my dreams, but the smell was so real that I could not stay asleep. My parents barely even made breakfast. Even less often, they made pancakes. But when they did, I would not hold back. My parents only did on the celibratory days. When I first lifted something with telekinisis. When I got my cutie mark. Yesterday, actually. I guess it was for my first day leaving. Knowing that I wasn't to see them for a long time. That's what I tried to dream about, but the real smell was just too strong. I opened my eyes to see the ceiling of the hollow tree that has protected me from the cold night that was, so generously, offered to me by the purple unicorn, twilight sparkle. The pony who lost her hoof and showed no fear. Just a little anger. I sat up to look out the door of my room that led to another empty room of books. I threw my blanket to the side of me and slowly stood up. I almost fell back down from the pain of sleeping on the floor. At least it was carpeted. I looked over to where my saddle bags layed on the floor. I had forgotten to put the hole back into it's pouch. I walked over to do so. Once I was done with that, I walked quietly out the door with my back hunched and head lowered. I could hear voices coming from another door. The smell now stronger than it was while I was in the room I slept in. I can now barely stand to sneak around. Now would be the perfect time to try out my invisibility spell on myself. I was able to do it before but in the back of my head, the light is screaming "Let me go" as I try to hold on. Well, lets try anyway. Just like I do with any other object. Picture it in my mind. Grasp it with my eyeballs. stair it out of existance. Hardest part is that bigger things have to be stared at harder than any other object. From there, it's just that I must not give in. Poof! I'm gone, or at least I hope so. I can't see myself. I slowly push the door open. luckily, nopony noticed. This room seemed to be the kitchen. The ponies inside were twilight sparkle, spike, and some orange pony wearing a cowpony hat. I think I saw her in the market selling pies yesterday while I was trotting through I haven't explored enough of the town to know anyone else. Heck, I only know one pony in this whole town. The orange one sets down a basket of apples onto the counter next to twilight and says "There. Now y'all don't be eatin' all these as fast as last time. Ah've got a few more deliveries to make. Ah'll be stopin' by later to meet this pony y'all been talkin' 'bout." The orange one starts walking towards the door that I am standing in. Cutting it really close, I jumped out of the way into the kitchen just in time for the orange one to walk past. I have to use my magic again to levitate myself down slowly. I was shaving my mane down to buzz now. The yelling in the back of my head is now coming in sharp pulses, my landing is now extremely difficult. Luckily, I touch down with complete silenceness. Now I walk over to the pantry and close it after myself. It is super tight in here and really uncomfyable. I intend to walk out of there In the most awkward way possible, and play it off like nothing ever happened. I am struggling to hold in my giggles. I undo my invisibility and ready myself. Ooo! cookies! No! Eyes off. There are scrumptious pancakes awaiting you outside. Just forget about them. I open up the pantry doors and yawn. Twilight jumps and looks over at me with confusion. I walk out of the pantry while scratching my chest. "Good morning twilight. Whatcha' got cookin'? Pancakes? Yum. I love pancakes. What are these weird yellowy things. Eggs. Gross. I hate eggs. That's a lie. I love eggs too. Both of these go good with syrup." Twilight stands there watching me look around at the food she is making. I feel these awkward levels rising. Twilight's looking as confused as ever. "Don't worry sparkles, I got it. I think I saw some in there." I walk back over to the pantry and find the syrup on the top shelf to the left. Ths is so funny. I feel like I have inhaled some special herb's smoke. Not only because of how funny this is, but also from this massive headache from turning invisible.    I grab it and walk back to twilight, slamming it right in front of her. "Hey, don't be paying attention to me. You don't want to burn your pancakes." She stares at me with worry in her eyes for a moment before she gets back to cooking in uncomfyable silence. I go and sit down on the table directly next to spike. I can tell that he is struggling not to tell me to go away. He just sits there thinking about stuff. Let the uncomfyability begin. I reach over his head and start messing with his spine. Wiggling it over and over until he can't take it anymore. Anger rising until he bursts. "Will you stop that?!?!?" He yells at me quite a bit louder than expected. "Probably not." I say to him promptly. He is just getting even more frustrated as I continue to play with his spine. I don't know how much a dragon his size can put up a fight but this is just too fun. "Okay boys, settle down, breakfast is ready. I hope you didn't eat too much while you were in there." Twilight butted in before it was too late. "Don't worry sparkles, I didn't eat anything. Though I did see some cookies in there. I almost took one when I woke up but the smell of pancakes pulled me in before I could grab 'em." Upon saying that, twilight got an 'oh no' sort of face as spike spoke up in an already angry tone. "Cookies!?! You said you gave the rest of them to your friends!" Oops. I probably shouldn't have said that. With Twilight's face ablush, She did not say anything as she walked over to spike, plate in hand, and set a plate down infront of him while using magic to pile four pancakes on top of each other. I scoot over as she pours what seems to be 'too much' syrup onto his pancakes. Twilight plops another plate infront of me piling three pancakes on my plate. She sets the syrup next to me so that I can make my own decision on how much syrup. Twilight walks back over to the kitchen to get the eggs. Well, this isn't good. She gave me tree pancakes. As much as I love pancakes, I have never been able to eat more than one. And these are already bigger than the one's my father used to cook. Luckily, eggs go down like water. I guess I could save the pancakes for later. Where do I put them? Twilight walks back over with a couple small plates of eggs being levitated over to each of us. Twilight walks back to the kitchen to get her own food. "If you'll excuse me for one moment, I need to go get my saddle bags and undo my bed that I may or may not have used." I called back to twilight and looked back to spike. Neither of them cared. I think they are pondering over each other. I stand back up and walk out of the room and into the open room and then into my area of slumber. I pulled out my 'The Hole' from my saddle bags that had been stroun out on the floor. I set that down on the ground next to the bags and turned around to my makeshift bed. I folded up my blanket and stuffed that into the hole. I had completely forgotten about the shock a I yeeped and jumped into the air. I was too focused on the situation to think. I bit my lip and continued by putting the pillow into the hole. I hope nopony heard that. I stuffed the hole back into my bags and threw the bag over my back. As I walked into the room, I saw Twilight seeted at the table already a quarter way into her pancakes. I trotted over to my spot and sat down. "Sorry about that." I said to her as I took two of my pancakes and slid them into a side pocket one at a time. "I didn't even... notice... you were gone" Twilight said to me as she watched me put the pancakes into my bags. "Did you not want them?" "Of course I do. I'm just saving them for later. Don't worry. These bags are cleaner than soap." I say as she looked over the table to get a better look. "You know. Once you get past the dust and dirt... and bacteria. Otherwise, it's fine!" "Okay. So, I never got your name.." Quickly, think of something! "Uh, you can call me glass. Ethereal Glass." Perfect! Not too simple. "That's a pretty cool name. I havent heard much like that before. Tell me about yourself." Here's where I get to lie the most. I've never liked lying but I have been told that I am pretty good at it. "Well, I was born and raised in manehatten ever since I was, well, born. My parents were both unicorns like myself. My father was a carpenter and my mother was a Business mare. She was part of the board of directers for a toilet paper company. I spent alot of my childhood researching magics from all times in history. I was always the most happy with invisibility magic though. I would spend alot of time mix matching and playing with spells. They usually came out with different spell of varying capabilities, though sometimes were dangerous. I actually have a list of spells in a notebook in my saddle bags if you would like to see them. I remember this one time when I created a napalm spread spell and burnt down half of the house. That's in the notebook if you would like to know that. Anywho, I never found out when I got my cutie mark, because the cutie mark was invisible. I left my home about yesterday. so here I am now. Tell me about yourself. Who is twilight sparkle?" I just told her my life story. Okay, I guess I didn't lie very much. Though my parents didn't have jobs. Our house was completely off the grid. Heck, I never even went to school. I didn't have any friends. Kind of sad some would say. "Well, I was born in canterlot. Ever since my first time seeing the princess raise the sun on the summer sun celibration, I was facinated with magic. I researched magic and trained so much that my parents enrolled me into Celestia's magic school. When I past the exam, Celestia asked me to be her personal protege. That's when I got my cutie mark. Years later, I was sent here to ponyville to research the magic of friendship. When I found out that nightmare moon had come back, my friends and I went and found the elements of harmony and turned her back into princess luna. Ever since then, I have been studying the magic of friendship and occasionally defeating the things that wish to rule over equestria." Who in equestria is princess luna? There is another princess? Huh. I guess there was that one that died a thousand years ago. Did she rise from her grave? Let's not act like we don't know of her. Don't want too bring up some 'bad' questions. "Wow! Your life seems pretty exiting. How often do you defeat evil creatures? Don't answer that. What's next? Are you gonig after the god of chaos? I mean, if you are, I would like to meet him." I kind of regret trying to dual her. She would have kicked my ass. But if she is going after the evils of equestria, it is my duty to document it. "God of chaos? Oh. You mean discord. It's a bit too late for that. He is free now. I guess you could meet him. He is a bit busy but I could get some time for you." Sweet celestia! He's free! What? How much has the camera missed? These are very important historical facts. Look at her. She just acts like this is nothing! "You know, I'm good. I'm sure he's too busy to take time from his schedule for me." I say as I finish up my eggs. "I should probably be on my way. This breakfast was delicious, thank you. I have alot that I need to- Well, Actually I don't have much I need to do. I'm just going to be taking a stroll through the everfree forest. Nothing that exiting." With that, her eyes shot up at me. "Are you crazy?!? Do you know how dangerous it is in there?" "Yes I am. Yes I do. That's the exact reason I intend to go there." I've never been there. I think it would be cool. "It's kind of like this. I'll use your life to prove that I will be fine. When you were in canterlot you didn't want to make friends. Once you finally got friends here, you were able to choose what you wanted to do with the knowledge of that frinedship. That aplies to all forms." That better work. Pretty convincing to me. "Well, I guess that makes sense. Although, you shouldn't go alone. It is very dangerous in there. If you get hurt or lost, I could guide us back to ponyville. I have traveled through there many times. I have a friend who lives in there." Even better. I don't want to die out there. Though, I was hoping to get lost. Whatever. "The more, the merrier. I was thinking of leaving around nine thirty. I don't know if that works for you." I want as much time as possible. "Then let us go. It's eleven o'clock already. But, I do have to be back before three o'clock." Flip! I forgot to set my alarm. Twilight stood back up as I did and she carried everypony's plates off with magic. Then I noticed that spike at escaped and left a little while ago. Wonder where he has gone? nevermind. Twilight set the plates down into the sink. "I'll be right back, I have to go get my compass." So much for getting lost. "Hold up. Can't you just read the sky." And it wont work. the sun is right in the middle of the sky at that point. "I guess. Well, alright. Let us be on our way." Now the chance is greater. Hope she can't read minds. I might be in trouble.
