I looked at Golden Sun's bright, yellow eyes, I could see the fear rising more and more. "The Everfree Forest Mental Institution," I laugh, I looked at her some more, her pure white body, yellow hair, and her cutie mark of a pencil and paper, she was good at writing. "Will you go to The Everfree Forest Mental Institution with me, today?" She shook her head no. "Why?" I asked, tears formed in her eyes, "I'm to much of a wuss!" She cried, tears streaming down her soft, kind of pudgy cheeks. "Don't worry!" I say, "I'll be by your side the whole time," her tears slowly decreased, "really?" She asked, happily. "Yep," I answer.
I stood in front of The Everfree Forest Mental Institution, and gripped Golden Sun's hand and walked to the old door. The orange glow from the setting sun was the only light we had at the moment. "Do we have everything?" I ask, Looking at my bull leather belt, my .22 revolver was hooked on my belt by it's leather holster. My grandfather gave this to me when I was ten, he used it in The Great Pony War Of 1964. The glow stick I had hooked onto my belt wasn't lit, yet, and my heavy backpack held a large bag of chips, beef jerky, water, flashlights, batteries, and a machete.
I opened the door and a chill went down my spine, "You got the pen and paper?" I asked Golden Sun, "yep," she said, her voice was shaky and quiet. I tried to open the door, but it looked like it was locked. I raised my foot and with a loud crash, kicked the door in. I stepped inside and walked down a small, empty hallway, and I opened a old metal door, and I looked inside. My hands shook at the sight of a sign written in blood, "Go! Please!" it said, with a blood splatter at the end, and bloody hand prints. I cracked the glow stick and dropped our backpack and took out two 200 lumens flashlights and handed one to Golden Sun, "Thanks," she said, more scared. I walked further into the building, my fear slowly building higher. I walked into the main office, "what do you have written down?" I ask Golden Sun, "just details of this place," her voice less shaky. I was looking at the abandoned papers on the desk, all of the patient's names written on them, with a stamp on each name what said, "deceased" my heart pace quickened as I looked at the papers.
I flipped through the pages, more and more names with the stamp. I heard a child laugh, and I reached for my .22 and aimed it a a shadow in the doorway, and took a deep breath, and put the gun in the holster. Golden Sun was cowering in a corner, crying. I shook my head, "Lets get out of here," I sprinted to the door, and placed my hand on its handle, and part of the upper floor crashed down with a thud, blocking off the exit. "Shit, mother fucking sun of a bitch!" I yell, and Golden Sun started to cry, "whats wrong?" I ask, "I'm stuck in a mental institution, and I might not get fucking out!" I became more frightened, she never curses! "It's fine," I say, and closed my eyes and said a quick pray to Celestia, hoping I don't die. I walked back into the office, and opened a door marked "staff only" I walked in and stopped in fear. A dead body was holding a radio, someone was trying to talk to him, I pick up the radio and asked, "hello? Is anybody here?"
"Yes, please, help me! Im stuck in room 205, fourth floor, I've been here for a week, and i'm hungry, about to eat my friend, he went crazy on the first day, had to put a knife in his head, please help!" I looked at Golden Sun, and she nodded yes. "Be right there," I walked further into the staff room, and found only needles, and containers of various assortments. It was a dead end, I turned around and walked out. I gripped my hand in a fist, and screamed in frustration. How am I, a child,going to save a life, and get out with my own? I shook my head, and walked out into the large hallway, and walked towards the first set of rooms. I looked into room one, nothing of use, and I searched through the rest of the hallway, only one room had something interesting in it, and it was a word, written in dried blood. "Behind..." it said, a chill ran down my spine, I felt the hair stand up on the back of my neck, and a quiet child's laugh, slowly it turned louder, til it was deafening.
I turned around, and a black figure seemed to evaporate, and the laugh stopped, I looked at Golden Sun, tears dripped from her eyes. I let out a silent sigh, "why?" Golden Sun asked, "why does this happen to us?" I closed my eyes and said, "I don't know, just don't know," I felt my adrenaline die down as I took deep breaths. I looked at one of the windows and threw a rock at it, it was bulletproof glass. I felt rage build higher and higher in my mind, I finally let my anger out, and screamed in anger, something I regret. A hand lightly touched my shoulder, I spun around with great speed and sung my fist and smashed my knuckles in Golden Sun's small, soft face and she ran away crying.
"Wait! I didn't mean to punch you!" I cry, fear set in after a few minutes of thinking, I felt a warm, fuzzy, reassuring through my whole body, it felt like that feeling when you wake up, and you look at the clock and it's only 2, or 3am and you can sleep more, or when you didn't study for a test, and still got a A, or B. I laid on my back, as the feeling slowly turned to anger, then sheer terror. My vision started to blur more and more, then black. The darkness felt reassuring for some reason, and I was drawn to it, like a child to a candy store. I felt at ease in the darkness, I wanted to stay. I will stay. forever...
I was looking into the darkness, it was around me, claustrophobia started setting in. I couldn't breath, the air was as thick as molasses. I took deep breaths, but only tiny amounts of air entered my lungs. "Can you hear me?" a male voice echoed in my head, "nod if you can hear me," I nodded my head, "good, good, um, I guess since i'm going to be in your brain for awhile, I should have a name." "How about fuck-face?" I asked, with a chuckle, "ha, ha." the voice said, sarcastically. "Oh, did you know that you have 5,000 names memorized, how about Clarence?" the voice asked, "why the fuck not," I say
I felt the air become thinner, and I took deep breaths. The darkness became lighter and lighter, soon I was back on the floor of the Asylum, and my head was pounding. I sighed, "why are you in my head?" I ask out loud. "Heh, I don't know," Clarence said, kinda laughing. I sighed, and stood up, groaning. A loud, blood-curtailing female scream, "fuck!" I scream, the scream echoed, then was followed by dead, horror filled, silence. "Hello?" I ask, my voice shaking. I placed my hand on the .22lr revolver and took it out, keeping my finger off the trigger. I heard heavy, loud footsteps behind me. I turned around, and Golden Sun was their, and she smashed her hand in my face with inhuman strength, and knocked me to the floor, "stand up and fight like a man!" she screeched and stomped on my scrotum, again with inhuman force. I turned on my back and dragged to my revolver, grasped the wooden handle and aimed.
With a loud bang, a .22 hit her chest, and she kept going, limping over to me, I put another round in her head, and she didn't stop, I unloaded the last six bullets in her chest and she didn't stop. She kicked the gun from my hand, I felt wet tears stream down my cheek, was I really killing the only person who was by my side when I was thinking of suicide, when my parents died, when I was depressed, she was there. I dropped my backpack, and took out the machete, and stood up. With a quick, strong slash, her neck was cut open, blood splattered my face, and mixed with my tears.
I sat down on my knees next to her body, and placed my middle and index finger above her sweet, yellow eyes, and closed her white eyelashes. A tear dropped onto her face, blood caked, yet still beautiful in a horrifying way. I screamed "why, Celestia! Why?" I asked. I jumped and fell on my back as her eyes shot open, "so, you thought I was dead?" she asked, her voice was deep and frighting, her eyes where white, no iris, no pupil. I screamed loudly, and the scream echoed. I stuck up my middle finger at her and moved backwards to a wall. She picked up my machete and laughed like a madman. I ran to the door of the room and opened it; sprinting through it, and closing it. I looked for something to block it with, I found a bench and pushed it to the door. A loud scream of anger came from the other side of the door, and a fist broke a hole in the door, and her hand came out.
I took a deep breath and ran, the pounding on the door ended and loud footsteps rang down the hallway. I didn't dare turn to look if it was behind me. I felt my legs ache; but kept sprinting, her footsteps died away, and I hid in a dark room. I heard her footsteps creep back to the closed door, and her rough voice said "come out pansy," I held my breath; waiting for it to leave.
I didn't move for five minutes and stood up, my head ached, and I dropped to my knees; slid on my side, and cried, tears flowed like a river. I thought for a moment; realizing I am going insane. I wanted a way out. I looked at the door, it had a eye-hole. I moved slowly to the eye hole, and peeked out, all I saw was white with red, bloodshot lines running through the almost pure white eyes. I stumbled back, heart pounding, vision blurring, her hand pounded on the door; I started yelling and looking for a weapon. The only thing I could see was the light from the dimmed, flickering florescent lights shinning in from the gaping hole in the door where her fist was.
I gasped for air as I heard her hand tear away the door. I fell onto the ground and hollered "GO AWAY! PLEASE!" I started to cry in fear. The door broke off it's hinges and slammed to the floor. I tried to stand but she sprinted to me and kicked my stomach and I fell to the ground. She picked me up and looked at me, eyes now full black holes, blood dripping out from them. I threw a punch at her head, she dropped me, and I landed on my feet. Insanity fled my mind again. I stared into the dark sockets, drawn to them. I felt a sickeningly innocent feeling, like a child in a mothers arms. I started to walk towards them, feeling relief as I moved closer. I snapped out of the trance and looked for a exit; I ran for the door;hoping for a exit. None. I ran hoping that I could find a hiding place.
I ran into a nursery, for the children of victims. A group of children sung, "ring around the Rosie, pockets full of posies, Ashes, ashes we all fall down." I looked for the source of the singing. It was becoming louder and louder; my head ached. The children became visible, their flesh bruised and torn; blood dripped from the torn flesh. I felt the same feeling of relief when I almost died.
