She’s a Pony, He’s a Human

Chapter 11

A Small Request

Written By P3RROHAMBRE

“That’ll be twenty bits,” a white unicorn with a radical blue mane and violet shades said.

Twilight Sparkle quickly handed the mare the respective amount without hesitation as Andrew stood by his lavender friend, analyzing this new form of currency quietly. It intrigued him how these simple coins of gold didn’t cause any type of commotion with ponies, considering that gold was highly valued from where he was from.

Of course though, he still kept in mind that this wasn’t his world.

“Thanks,” the white unicorn said as she handed Twilight a brand spanking new record of Gun’s N’ Roseluck with a smile, “You’re really going to enjoy that one. I bounced my mane to that quite a few times.”

“Not surprising to hear that from you Vinyl, but it's not really for me,” Twilight chuckled.

So her name is Vinyl? Fitting name to have for owning a record store, Andrew thought to himself.

He could only deduce that this pony had some talent within music or having an affinity for the sort.

Vinyl laughed along Twilight as she took off her shades and revealed her moderate cerise eyes as they glanced over to Andrew.

“So then it must be you then? You must be the human everypony has been chatting about earlier then,” Vinyl said.

“Yeah, that would be me. My name is Andrew,” he answered politely.

He was actually quite pleased that Vinyl wasn’t making a big deal about him being a human and treating him as if he was just another person. . . or pony.

“Yeah I’ve heard,” Vinyl said with a friendly smile, “Lyra stopped here after meeting you and was telling me all about how you two met.”

“How she ‘met’ me huh? I wouldn’t exactly describe it that way,” he chuckled.

“Oh no,” Twilight said as she shook her head and looked over to Andrew, “So you met Lyra already?”

“Yeah. . .” Andrew said, not really wanting to get into the details of his earlier encounter and interrogation with the aqua unicorn, “On my way back from Rarity’s.”

“I guess I should’ve warned you about her. She kind of has an obsession with humans.”

“Yeah,” Vinyl added, “She’s a bit crazy when it comes to you guys.”

“I gathered as much,” Andrew replied with another laugh of his own.

“So where are you staying in Ponyville Andrew?” Vinyl asked as she put her shades back on.

“I’m staying with Twilight at the library.”

Vinyl grinned slyly at the two.

“Staying with Twilight huh?”

Both Twilight and Andrew immediately caught what Vinyl was implying with her grin and Andrew was the first to speak and dispel any crude thought that the mare had in her head.

“It’s not like that at all. We’re just friends,” Andrew informed.

But was that the truth?

Despite the kiss fueled from Twilight’s hormones and telling the mare that she was actually quite pretty, which was really no lie, Andrew didn’t view the both of him as nothing more than just progressing friends.

So what about Luna and her belief?

She told him that Twilight may be his soul-mate and though he still wasn’t convinced of such a bold statement, he couldn’t deny that there was now that very small part of his mind that was beginning to tell him that Luna may have been onto something.

Regardless, he was not one to just assume things. He didn’t leave things to chance. Time would only tell and for now they were just friends.

“Yeah,” Twilight agreed innocently, “I’m just helping him get more acclimated with our social norms and such.”

Vinyl kept her sly grin, but nodded and acknowledged the two’s answers.

“Heh, alright then. Well I’ll stop holding you two up. I’m sure you want to get that record spinning sometime today.”

“I’ second that,” Andrew added, more than eager to hear what this record sounded like and to see if it was anything like the Guns N’ Roses he loved back from his world, “You ready to go Twilight?”

She happily nodded as she took the record and diligently placed it in her saddlebag.

“You two have fun,” Vinyl said with a certain tone as the two made their way to leave the record store.

Andrew simply rolled his eyes hearing the unicorn’s suggestive tone as he exited through the glass double doors along with the lavender mare beside him. It was just easier to let Vinyl have her own assumptions about the two than trying to reinforce the fact that him and Twilight were only friends.

Besides, trying to argue on something relatively small would only make him look like an ass and he didn’t want to do that, especially in front of Twilight. They were just now developing a good friendship, trying to find each other’s similarities and differences, and last thing he wanted to do was screw that up over trivial issues.

Everybody has an opinion, even ponies.

Andrew and Twilight began walking on the dirt path, making their way back to Twilight’s tree house as ponies around them went about their lives with a few that haven’t seen him giving him quick glances, but he paid no mind.

He was more excited to get back to the tree house and listen to what this record had to offer and if it was anything like his favorite group back in his world, he was going to enjoy it with his new friend.

“Hey, you think I can see that record real quick?” Andrew asked as the two walked.

“Sure,” Twilight happily answered as she levitated the record out of her saddlebag and put it into his hands.

The record was no different from the ones he knew. It had the same shape, texture, and even the same label, with the exception of the name.

“I have to admit, I’m still quite surprised that your world would have something so similar to Guns N' Roses.”

Twilight simply chuckled.

“What’s so funny?” Andrew inquired.

“Nothing,” Twilight answered with her signature friendly smile, “I was just wondering what other things could be similar to your world. It's simply amazing that though our worlds are so different, but yet can share some similarities at the same time."

“Yeah, I think you gave a whole lecture about that earlier. The whole parallel universe thing you know?” Andrew pointed out as he gave back the lavender unicorn the record back after admiring it’s glory.

“I know, but it just makes me wonder is all.”

The two continued walking, taking a turn here and there, even passing by a very eerie stallion that seemed to have a passion for rubbing jelly on himself. Andrew simply took in his surroundings, making mental marks in his mind of what was what. If this new world of equines was going to be his new home, he wanted to know how to get to places and such by himself.

Twilight on the other hand seemed to be lost in distant thought, pondering something that seemed to now consume her mind.

It wasn’t until they took a turn on the path that led directly to Twilight’s home that Andrew took notice of how silent it was between the two. He took a glance over to the unicorn and noticed she seemed to be staring off into space as they got closer to her home.

“Hey,” he began, “ You been quiet for a bit. Is something wrong?”

Twilight snapped out of her inner thoughts and looked at him and smiled coyly.

“Oh! No, nothing is wrong. I was letting my mind wander off, thinking about what you told me about your world.”

Andrew couldn't help but laugh, seeing that this unicorn was still stuck on such a concept.

“Look, I think about things a lot, but you take the cake when it comes to thinking too much.”

Twilight simply smirked at his jest as the two made it to her oak wood door.

“Well I rather think too much than none at all,” Twilight said.

“Well of course, I was just saying was all.”

It was kind of ironic.

The girls that Andrew had met in his past weren't exactly the brightest. Well, not really bright at all. They were more concerned with popularity and their glorified ignorance showed no bounds. Anytime he tried to have some type of intellectual conversation with one, they would simply give him some dumbfounded face or some answer to the degree of if he liked their new shirt.

But now as he looked upon this equine scholar, he was starting to realize that though Twilight was a pony, her intellect was astounding. She was a critical and abstract thinker as he was, though, certainly not on her level.

A characteristic he was now enjoying.

Of course, he wasn't going to admit that she was smarter than him by any chance, but he certainly didn't think that he was smarter than her either.

“I understand,” Twilight said, “But can I ask you something real quick?”

Andrew nodded his head.

“Yeah. Shoot.”

“Considering that we both are trying to get to know each other better, I wanted to ask if maybe you would like to join me in some star watching tonight.”

Andrew cocked his brow in curiosity.

“You study stars? Astronomy?”

Twilight smiled warmly once more.

“Yes. I kind of have an affinity for stars and planets. I usually come out to look at them and watch what they do along with constellations if I have the chance.”

Andrew couldn’t say that he really ever studied stars, but it wasn’t to say that the topic itself wasn’t interesting. Besides, though not knowing much of the topic, he didn’t see any reason not to do so.

“Alright, I’m up for it. I admit I don’t know much about Astronomy, but I’m happy to learn.”

Twilight’s eyes lit up and an inexplicable wide smile spread across her face.

“Really?!” she blurted, “So you would be willing to study stars with me?!”

“Yeah, why not?” Andrew said, not getting why the mare seemed more than excited that he agreed to her simple offer.

“Heh, I’m sorry,” Twilight apologized with embarrassed blushing cheeks, “It’s just not many would want to do such a thing. They see it as boring.”

“Well I don’t. If it’s a chance to learn something new, then why not? Even if it is boring, wouldn’t it be better to try it first and find out if it is than just assuming that it will be?”

“Great!” Twilight exclaimed, “I’ll start right now getting everything set up for tonight! Oh this is going to be so exciting! I have to get my log, my telescopes, protractor. . .”

“Twilight?” Andrew tried to say as she continued on, but the mare was lost in her own excitement and her overactive, intellectual mind.

“And then maybe we can map out the Andromeda galaxy! Oh there’s so much to be done! I have to get started and prepare!”

Twilight was a bundle of excitement and joy and lost within her own thoughts and goals for tonight, she quickly entered the door and left Andrew by himself outside the door, dumbfounded.

He blinked a few times as he comprehended what had just happened. He didn’t know if saying yes was the best idea now, but he could appreciate her passion for such a subject.

Even if it did seem a bit over the top.

But there’s still one thing that was on his mind as he entered the door and closed it behind him.

“Hey! Wait! Whatever happened to listening to that record?!”
